The special unitary groups $SU(2n)$ as framed manifolds
Abstract: Let $[SU(2n),\mathscr{L}]$ denote the bordism class of $SU(2n)$ $(n\ge 2)$ equipped with the left invariant framing $\mathscr{L}$. Then it is well known that $e_\mathbb{C}([SU(2n), \mathscr{L}])=0$ in $\mathbb{O}/\mathbb{Z}$ where $e_\mathbb{C}$ denotes the complex Adams $e$-invariant. In this note we show that replacing $\mathscr{L}$ by the twisted framing by a specific map it can be transformed… ▽ More

ResBit: Residual Bit Vector for Categorical Values
Abstract: One-hot vectors, a method for representing discrete/categorical data, are commonly used in machine learning due to their simplicity and intuitiveness. However, the one-hot vectors suffer from a linear increase in dimensionality, posing computational and memory challenges, especially when dealing with datasets containing numerous categories. To address this issue, we propose Residual Bit Vectors (R… ▽ More

A remark on a proof of $[G, L]=0$ for a Lie group $G$
Abstract: In this note we give an improvement of our proof of $[G, L]=0$ for a compact framed Lie group $(G, L)$, which depends heavily on the choice of a circle subgroup $S\subset G$. We attempt here to make a more suitable choice of this circle subgroup.

A note on the divisibility of the Whitehead square
Abstract: We show that if we suppose n>3 and the (2n-1)-stem in the stable homotopy groups of spheres has no 2-torsion, then the Whitehead squares of the identity maps of (2n+1) and (4n+3)-spheres are divisible by 2. Applying the result of G. Wang and Z. Xu on the 61-stem in the stable homotopy groups of spheres, we find that the Kervaire invariant one elements in dimensions 62 and 126 exist.

Cavity mode identification for coherent terahertz emission from a nearly square stack of intrinsic Josephson junctions
Abstract: Stacks of intrinsic Josephson junctions in Bi$_2$Sr$_2$CaCu$_2$O$_{8+δ}$ emit intense and coherent terahertz waves determined by the internal electromagnetic cavity resonance. We identify the excited transverse magnetic mode by observing the broadly tunable emissions from an identical nearly square stack and simulating the scattering spectrum. We employ a wedge-type interferometer to measure emitt… ▽ More

Local SiC photoluminescence evidence of non-mutualistic hot spot formation and sub-THz coherent emission from a rectangular Bi$_2$Sr$_2$CaCu$_2$O$_{8+δ}$ mesa
Abstract: From the photoluminescence of SiC microcrystals uniformly covering a rectangular mesa of the high transition temperature $T_c$ superconductor Bi$_2$Sr$_2$CaCu$_2$O$_{8+δ}$, the local surface temperature $T({\bm r})$ was directly measured during simultaneous sub-THz emission from the $N\sim10^3$ intrinsic Josephson junctions (IJJs) in the mesa. At high bias currents $I$ and low bath temperatures… ▽ More

Powerful terahertz emission from Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+delta mesa arrays
Abstract: Stacks of intrinsic Josephson junctions (IJJs) in high-temperature superconductors enable the fabrication of compact sources of coherent terahertz radiation. Here we demonstrate that multiple stacks patterned on the same Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+delta crystal can - under optimized conditions - be synchronized to emit high-power THz-radiation. For three synchronized stacks we achieved 610 microwatts of contin… ▽ More

Direct imaging of hot spots in Bi_{2}Sr_{2}CaCu_{2}O_{8+δ} mesa terahertz sources
Abstract: Stacks of intrinsic Josephson junctions (IJJs) made from high-temperature superconductors such as Bi_{2}Sr_{2}CaCu_{2}O_{8+δ} (Bi-2212) are a promising source of coherent continuous-wave terahertz radiation. It is thought that at electrical bias conditions under which THz-emission occurs hot spots may form due to resistive self-heating, and that these spots may be highly beneficial for the generat… ▽ More

Broadly Tunable Sub-terahertz Emission from Internal Branches of the Current-voltage Characteristics of Superconducting Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+d Single Crystals
Abstract: Continuous, coherent sub-terahertz radiation arises when a dc voltage is applied across a stack of the many intrinsic Josephson junctions in a Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+d single crystal. The active junctions produce an equal number of I-V characteristic branches. Each branch radiates at a slightly tunable frequency obeying the ac Josephson relation. The overall output is broadly tunable and nearly independent… ▽ More

Geometrical Resonance Conditions for THz Radiation from the Intrinsic Josephson Junctions in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+d
Abstract: Subterahertz radiation emitted from a variety of short rectangular-, square-, and disk-shaped mesas of intrinsic Josephson junctions fabricated from a Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+d single crystal was studied from the observed I-V characteristics, far-infrared spectra, and spatial radiation patterns. In all cases, the radiation frequency satisfies the conditions both for the ac Josephson effect and for a mesa ca… ▽ More

Evidence for a Dual-Source Mechanism of THz Radiation from Rectangular Mesas of Single Crystalline \bm{$\mathrm{Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_{8+δ}}$} Intrinsic Josephson Junctions
Abstract: The THz radiation emitted from rectangular mesas of single-crystal $\mathrm{Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_{8+δ}}$ was studied using angular distribution measurements and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Unlike the recent theoretical predictions, the results provide strong evidence for a dual-source mechanism in which the uniform and non-uniform parts of the $ac$-Josephson current act as electric and m… ▽ More

Emission of Terahertz Waves from Stacks of Intrinsic Josephson Junctions
Abstract: By patterning mesoscopic crystals of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 (BSCCO) into electromagnetic resonators the oscillations of a large number of intrinsic Josephson junctions can be synchronized into a macroscopic coherent state accompanied by the emission of strong continuous wave THz-radiation. The temperature dependence of the emission is governed by the interplay of self-heating in the resonator and by re-t… ▽ More

Temperature Dependence of Optical Spectra for the CDW Gap and Optical Phonons in BaBiO_3
Abstract: We have studied the temperature dependence of the optical spectra for the CDW gap and optical phonons in a single crystal of BaBiO_3 and a film deposited by laser ablation. The integrated optical conductivity for optical phonons decreases rapidly with increasing temperature above 150 K, while the single-particle excitation across the CDW gap remains constant.

Paramagnetic Meissner Effect in Superconducting Single Crystals of Ba_{1-x}K_xBiO_3
Abstract: The paramagnetic Meissner effect (PME) in the field cooled susceptibility has been observed in superconducting single crystals of Ba_{1-x}K_xBiO_3 using magnetometers of Quantum-Design Co.. The PME is similar to that observed in cuprates and Nb superconductors. For the Ba_{0.63}K_{0.37}BiO_3 crystal, the PME is observed in cooling process under the field up to 750 Oe.
