We study the phenomenology of partially composite-Higgs models where electroweak symmetry breaking is dynamically induced, and the Higgs is a mixture of a composite and an elementary state. The models considered have explicit realizations in terms of gauge-Yukawa theories with new strongly interacting fermions coupled to elementary scalars and allow for a very SM-like Higgs state. We study constraints on their parameter spaces from vacuum stability and perturbativity as well as from LHC results and find that requiring vacuum stability up to the compositeness scale already imposes relevant constraints. A small part of parameter space around the classically conformal limit is stable up to the Planck scale. This is however already strongly disfavored by LHC results. In different limits, the models realize both (partially) composite-Higgs and (bosonic) technicolor models and a dynamical extension of the fundamental Goldstone-Higgs model. Therefore, they provide a general framework for exploring the phenomenology of composite dynamics.

We consider an extension of the Standard Model with the global symmetry breaking pattern SO(5)/SO(4), where the Higgs boson arises as a pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson. The scalar content of the theory consists of a Standard-Model-like Higgs field and an extra real scalar field. The flavour sector of the model is extended by two right-handed neutrinos compatible with the observed light-neutrino phenomenology, and we find that the correct vacuum alignment determines the mass of the heavier neutrino eigenstate to be around 80 TeV. The new singlet-scalar state generates dynamically a Majorana mass term for the heavy neutrino states. We show how the model leads to the correct baryon asymmetry of the universe via leptogenesis in the case of two degenerate or hierarchical heavy neutrinos.

We define the theoretical framework and deduce the conditions under which multi-messenger astronomy can provide useful information about neutrino masses and their ordering. The framework uses time differences between the arrival of neutrinos and the other light messenger, i.e. the graviton, emitted in astrophysical catastrophes. We also provide a preliminary feasibility study elucidating the experimental reach and challenges for planned neutrino detectors such as Hyper-Kamiokande as well as future several megaton detectors. This study shows that future experiments can be useful in testing independently the cosmological bounds on absolute neutrino masses. Concretely the success of such measurements depends crucially on the available rate of astrophysical events and further requires development of high resolution timing besides the advocated need of megaton size detectors.

We show, via a careful analytical and numerical analysis, that a pseudo Goldstone nature of the Higgs is naturally embodied by an elementary realization that also serves as ultraviolet completion. Renormalizability married to perturbation theory allows to precisely determine the quantum corrections of the theory while permitting to explore the underlying parameter space. By characterising the available parameter space of the extended Higgs sector we discover that the preferred electroweak alignment angle is centred around $θ\simeq 0.02$, corresponding to the Higgs chiral symmetry breaking scale $ f \simeq 14~$TeV. The latter is almost 60 times higher than the Standard Model electroweak scale. However, due to the perturbative nature of the theory, the spectrum of the enlarged Higgs sector remains in the few TeV energy range. We also analyse precision constraints and the relevant phenomenological aspects of the theory.

We consider $SO(10)$ Grand Unified Theories (GUTs) with vacuum expectation values (vevs) for fermion masses in the $\mathbf{10} + \mathbf{\overline{126}}$ representation. We show that the baryon asymmetry generated via leptogenesis is completely determined in terms of measured low energy observables and of one single high energy parameter related to the ratio of the $\mathbf{10}$ and $\mathbf{\overline{126}}$ $SU(2)$ doublet vevs. We identify new decay channels for the heavy Majorana neutrinos into $SU(2)$ singlet leptons $e^c$ which can sizeably affect the size of the resulting baryon asymmetry. We describe how to equip $SO(10)$ fits to low energy data with the additional constraint of successful leptogenesis, and we apply this procedure to the fits carried out in ref.~\cite{Dueck:2013gca}. While we consider all possible Z3 and Z2 generating elements, we focus on a certain set of CP transformations. The resulting lepton mixing depends on group theoretical indices and one continuous parameter. In order to study the mixing patterns comprehensively for all admitted Ge and Gnu, it is sufficient to discuss only three types of combinations. One of them requires as flavor group Delta (6 n^2). Two types of combinations lead to mixing patterns with a trimaximal column, while the third one allows for a much richer structure. For the first type of combinations the Dirac as well as one Majorana phase are trivial, whereas the other two ones predict in general all CP phases to be non-trivial and also non-maximal. Already for small values of the index n of the group, n <= 11, experimental data on lepton mixing can be accommodated well for particular choices of the parameters of the theory. We also comment on the relation of the used CP transformations to the automorphisms of Delta (3 n^2) and Delta (6 n^2).

The recent results of the Planck experiment put a stringent constraint on the sum of the light neutrino masses, m1+m2+m3 < 0.23 eV (95 % CL). On the other hand, two-zero Majorana mass matrix textures predict strong correlations among the atmospheric angle and the sum of the masses. We use the Planck result to show that, for the normal hierarchy case, the texture with vanishing (2,2) and (3,3) elements is ruled out at a high confidence level; in addition, we emphasize that a future measurement of the octant of the atmospheric mixing angle (or the one sigma determination of it based on recent fit to neutrino data) will put severe constraint on the possible structure of the Majorana mass matrix. The implication of the above mentioned correlations for neutrinoless double beta-decay are also discussed, for both normal and inverted orderings.

We analyse the interplay of generalised CP transformations and the non-Abelian discrete group $T^{\prime}$ and use the semi-direct product $G_f= T^{\prime}\rtimes H_{\text{CP}}$, as family symmetry acting in the lepton sector. The family symmetry is shown to be spontaneously broken in a geometrical manner. In the resulting flavour model, naturally small Majorana neutrino masses for the light active neutrinos are obtained through the type I see-saw mechanism. The known masses of the charged leptons, lepton mixing angles and the two neutrino mass squared differences are reproduced by the model with a good accuracy. The model allows for two neutrino mass spectra with normal ordering (NO) and one with inverted ordering (IO). For each of the three spectra the absolute scale of neutrino masses is predicted with relatively small uncertainty. The value of the Dirac CP violation (CPV) phase $δ$ in the lepton mixing matrix is predicted to be $δ\cong π/2~{\rm or}~ 3π/2$. Thus, the CP violating effects in neutrino oscillations are predicted to be maximal (given the values of the neutrino mixing angles) and experimentally observable. We present also predictions for the sum of the neutrino masses, for the Majorana CPV phases and for the effective Majorana mass in neutrinoless double beta decay. The predictions of the model can be tested in a variety of ongoing and future planned neutrino experiments.

The two schemes are suggested by the neutrino oscillation interpretation of the reactor neutrino and Gallium "anomalies" and of the data of the LSND and MiniBooNE experiments. We analyse in detail the possibility of a complete or partial cancellation between the different terms in $\left| \langle \, m \, \rangle \right|$, leading to a strong suppression of $\left| \langle \, m \, \rangle \right|$. We determine the regions of the relevant parameter spaces where such a suppression can occure. This allows us to derive the conditions under which the effective Majorana mass satisfies $\left| \langle \, m \, \rangle \right| > 0.01$ eV, which is the range planned to be exploited by the next generation of $(ββ)_{0 ν}$-experiments.

We find a few patterns that can agree well with the experimental data on lepton mixing in scenarios with small corrections and that predict the reactor mixing angle theta_{13} to be 0.1 <= theta_{13} <= 0.2. All these patterns lead to a trivial Dirac phase. Patterns which instead reveal CP violation tend to accommodate the data not well. We also comment on the outer automorphisms of the discussed groups, since they can be useful for relating inequivalent representations of these groups.

We investigate the possibility to discriminate between different pairs of CP non-conserving mechanisms inducing the neutrinoless double beta $\betabeta$-decay by using data on $\betabeta$-decay half-lives of nuclei with largely different nuclear matrix elements (NMEs). The mechanisms studied are: light Majorana neutrino exchange, heavy left-handed (LH) and heavy right-handed (RH) Majorana neutrino exchanges, lepton charge non-conserving couplings in SUSY theories with R-parity breaking giving rise to the "dominant gluino exchange" and the "squark-neutrino" mechanisms. The nuclei considered are $^{76}$Ge, $^{82}$Se, $^{100}$Mo, $^{130}$Te and $^{136}$Xe. Four sets of nuclear matrix elements (NMEs) of the decays of these five nuclei, derived within the Self-consistent Renormalized Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation (SRQRPA), were employed in our analysis. While for each of the five single mechanisms discussed, the NMEs for $^{76}$Ge, $^{82}$Se, $^{100}$Mo and $^{130}$Te differ relatively little, the relative difference between the NMEs of any two nuclei not exceeding 10%, the NMEs for $^{136}Xe$ differ significantly from those of $^{76}$Ge, $^{82}Se$, $^{100}$Mo and $^{130}$Te, being by a factor $\sim (1.3 - 2.5)$ smaller. This allows, in principle, to draw conclusions about the pair of non-interfering (interfering) mechanisms possibly inducing the $\betabeta$-decay from data on the half-lives of $^{136}Xe$ and of at least one (two) more isotope(s) which can be, e.g., any of the four, $^{76}Ge$, $^{82}Se$, $^{100}Mo$ and $^{130}Te$. Depending on the sets of mechanisms considered, the conclusion can be independent of, or can depend on, the NMEs used in the analysis. The implications of the EXO lower bound on the half-life of $^{136}Xe$ for the problem studied are also exploited.

We present a SUSY SU(5)xT' unified flavour model with type I see-saw mechanism of neutrino mass generation, which predicts the reactor neutrino angle to be θ_{13} = 0.14 close to the recent results from the Daya Bay and RENO experiments. The model predicts also values of the solar and atmospheric neutrino mixing angles, which are compatible with the existing data. The T' breaking leads to tri-bimaximal mixing in the neutrino sector, which is perturbed by sizeable corrections from the charged lepton sector. The model exhibits geometrical CP violation, where all complex phases have their origin from the complex Clebsch-Gordan coefficients of T'. The values of the Dirac and Majorana CP violating phases are predicted. For the Dirac phase in the standard parametrisation of the neutrino mixing matrix we get a value close to 90 degrees δ= π/2 - 0.45 θ^c = 84.3 degrees, θ^c being the Cabibbo angle. The neutrino mass spectrum can be with normal ordering (2 cases) or inverted ordering. In each case the values of the three light neutrino masses are predicted with relatively small uncertainties, which allows to get also unambiguous predictions for the neutrino-less double beta decay effective Majorana mass.

We investigate the generation of the baryon asymmetry of the Universe within a SUSY SU(5) x T' model of flavour, which gives rise to realistic masses and mixing patterns for quarks and leptons. The model employs the see-saw mechanism for generation of the light neutrino masses and the baryon asymmetry is produced via leptogenesis. We perform detailed calculations of both the CP violating lepton asymmetries, originating from the decays of the heavy Majorana neutrinos operative in the see-saw mechanism, and of the efficiency factors which account for the lepton asymmetry wash-out processes in the Early Universe. The latter are calculated by solving numerically the system of Boltzmann equations describing the generation and the evolution of the lepton asymmetries. The baryon asymmetry in the model considered is proportional to the J_{CP} factor, which determines the magnitude of CP violation effects in the oscillations of flavour neutrinos. The leptogenesis scale can be sufficiently low, allowing to avoid the potential gravitino problem.

We consider the possibility of several different mechanisms contributing to the $\betabeta$-decay amplitude in the general case of CP nonconservation: light Majorana neutrino exchange, heavy left-handed (LH) and heavy right-handed (RH) Majorana neutrino exchanges, lepton charge non-conserving couplings in SUSY theories with R-parity breaking. If the $\betabeta$-decay is induced by, e.g., two "non-interfering" mechanisms, one can determine $|η_i|^2$ and $|η_j|^2$, $η_i$ and $η_j$ being the two fundamental parameters characterising these mechanisms, from data on the half-lives of two nuclear isotopes. In the case when two "interfering" mechanisms are responsible for the $\betabeta$-decay, $|η_i|^2$ and $|η_j|^2$ and the interference term can be uniquely determined, in principle, from data on the half-lives of three nuclei. Given the half-life of one isotope, the "positivity conditions" $|η_i|^2\geq 0$ and $|η_j|^2\geq 0$ lead to stringent constraints on the half-lives of the other $\betabeta$-decaying isotopes. These conditions, as well as the conditions for constructive (destructive) interference are derived and their implications are analysed in two specific cases. The method considered by us can be generalised to the case of more than two $\betabeta$-decay mechanisms. It allows to treat the cases of CP conserving and CP nonconserving couplings generating the $\betabeta$-decay in a unique way.
