Symmetry breaking operator for the reductive dual pair $(\mathrm{U}_l,\mathrm{U}_{l'})$
Abstract: We consider the dual pair $(G,G')=(\mathrm{U}_l,\mathrm{U}_{l'})$ in the symplectic group $\mathrm{Sp}_{2ll'}(\mathbb{R})$. Fix a Weil representation of the metaplectic group $\tilde{\mathrm{Sp}}_{2ll'}(\mathbb{R})$. Let $\tilde{G\,}$ and $\tilde{G'}$ be the preimages of $G$ and $G'$ under the metaplectic cover $\tilde{\mathrm{Sp}}_{2ll'}(\mathbb{R})\to \mathrm{Sp}_{2ll'}(\mathbb{R})$, and let… ▽ More

The wave front set correspondence for dual pairs with one member compact
Abstract: Let W be a real symplectic space and (G,G') an irreducible dual pair in Sp(W), in the sense of Howe, with G compact. Let $\widetilde{\mathrm{G}}$ be the preimage of G in the metaplectic group $\widetilde{\mathrm{Sp}}(\mathrm{W})$. Given an irreducible unitary representation $Π$ of $\widetilde{\mathrm{G}}$ that occurs in the restriction of the Weil representation to $\widetilde{\mathrm{G}}$, let… ▽ More

Symmetry breaking operators for dual pairs with one member compact
Abstract: We consider a dual pair $(G, G')$, in the sense of Howe, with G compact acting on $L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)$, for an appropriate $n$, via the Weil representation $ω$. Let $\tilde{\mathrm{G}}$ be the preimage of G in the metaplectic group. Given a genuine irreducible unitary representation $Π$ of $\tilde{\mathrm{G}}$, let $Π'$ be the corresponding irreducible unitary representation of… ▽ More

A look into the future of the COVID-19 pandemic in Europe: an expert consultation
Abstract: How will the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic develop in the coming months and years? Based on an expert survey, we examine key aspects that are likely to influence COVID-19 in Europe. The future challenges and developments will strongly depend on the progress of national and global vaccination programs, the emergence and spread of variants of concern, and public responses to nonpharma… ▽ More

Weighted stationary phase of higher orders
Abstract: An $n$th-order first derivative test for oscillatoric integrals is established. When the phase has a single stationary point, an $n$th-order asymptotic expansion of a weighted stationary phase integral is proved for arbitrary $n\geq1$. This asymptotic expansion sharpened the classical result for $n=1$ by Huxley. Possible applications include analysis and analytic number theory.

Improved subconvexity bounds for GL(2)xGL(3) and GL(3) L-functions by weighted stationary phase
Abstract: Let $f$ be a fixed self-contragradient Hecke-Maass form for $SL(3,\mathbb Z)$, and $u$ an even Hecke-Maass form for $SL(2,\mathbb Z)$ with Laplace eigenvalue $1/4+k^2$, $k>0$. A subconvexity bound $O\big(k^{4/3+\varepsilon}\big)$ in the eigenvalue aspect is proved for the central value at $s=1/2$ of the Rankin-Selberg $L$-function $L(s,f\times u)$. Meanwhile, a subconvexity bound… ▽ More

Asymptotics for cuspidal representations by functoriality from GL(2)
Abstract: Let $π$ be a unitary automorphic cuspidal representation of $GL_2(\mathbb{Q}_\mathbb{A})$ with Fourier coefficients $λ_π(n)$. Asymptotic expansions of certain sums of $λ_π(n)$ are proved using known functorial liftings from $GL_2$, including symmetric powers, isobaric sums, exterior square from $GL_4$ and base change. These asymptotic expansions are manifestation of the underlying functoriality an… ▽ More

A relative trace formula for a compact Riemann surface
Abstract: We study a relative trace formula for a compact Riemann surface with respect to a closed geodesic $C$. This can be expressed as a relation between the period spectrum and the ortholength spectrum of $C$. This provides a new proof of asymptotic results for both the periods of Laplacian eigenforms along $C$ as well estimates on the lengths of geodesic segments which start and end orthogonally on… ▽ More

Weyl calculus and dual pairs
Abstract: We consider a dual pair $(G,G')$, in the sense of Howe, with $G$ compact acting on $L^2(\mathbb R^n)$ for an appropriate $n$ via the Weil Representation. Let $\widetilde{G}$ be the preimage of $G$ in the metaplectic group. Semisimple orbital integrals on the symplectic space for a real reductive dual pair
Abstract: We prove a Weyl Harish-Chandra integration formula for the action of a reductive dual pair on the corresponding symplectic space $W$. As an intermediate step, we introduce a notion of a Cartan subspace and a notion of an almost semisimple element in the symplectic space $W$. We prove that the almost semisimple elements are dense in $W$. Finally, we provide estimates for the orbital integrals assoc… ▽ More

The Bull's-Eye Effect: Are Galaxy Walls Observationally Enhanced?
Abstract: We investigate a distortion in redshift-space which causes galaxies to appear to lie in walls concentric about the observer, forming a rough bull's-eye pattern. We simulate what an observer would see in a thin slice of redshift-space, including a magnitude limit and constant slice angle. The result is an enhanced ring of galaxies encircling the observer at a distance roughly corresponding to the… ▽ More
