Homodyne detection is optimal for quantum interferometry with path-entangled coherent states
Abstract: We present measurement schemes that do not rely on photon-number resolving detectors, but that are nevertheless optimal for estimating a differential phase shift in interferometry with either an entangled coherent state or a qubit-which-path state (where the path taken by a coherent-state wavepacket is entangled with the state of a qubit). The homodyning schemes analyzed here achieve optimality (s… ▽ More

Flying-cat parity checks for quantum error correction
Abstract: Long range, multi-qubit parity checks have applications in both quantum error correction and measurement-based entanglement generation. Such parity checks could be performed using qubit-state-dependent phase shifts on propagating pulses of light described by coherent states $\vertα\rangle$ of the electromagnetic field. We consider "flying-cat" parity checks based on an entangling operation that is… ▽ More

A photonic which-path entangler based on longitudinal cavity-qubit coupling
Abstract: We show that a modulated longitudinal cavity-qubit coupling can be used to control the path taken by a multiphoton coherent-state wavepacket conditioned on the state of a qubit, resulting in a qubit-which-path (QWP) entangled state. QWP states can generate long-range multipartite entanglement using strategies for interfacing discrete- and continuous-variable degrees-of-freedom. Using the approach… ▽ More

Non-Markovian transient spectroscopy in cavity QED
Abstract: We theoretically analyze measurements of the transient field leaving a cavity as a tool for studying non-Markovian dynamics in cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED). Combined with a dynamical decoupling pulse sequence, transient spectroscopy can be used to recover spectral features that may be obscured in the stationary cavity transmission spectrum due to inhomogeneous broadening. The formalism int… ▽ More

Constructing Coherent States for the Rational Extensions of the Harmonic Oscillator Potential
Abstract: Using the formalism of Maya diagrams and ladder operators, we describe the algebra of annihilating operators for the class of rational extensions of the harmonic oscillators. This allows us to construct the corresponding coherent state in the sense of Barut and Girardello. The resulting time-dependent function is an exact solution of the time-dependent Schrodinger equation and a joint eigenfunctio… ▽ More

Ladder operators and rational extensions
Abstract: This note presents the classification of ladder operators corresponding to the class of rational extensions of the harmonic oscillator. We show that it is natural to endow the class of rational extensions and the corresponding intertwining operators with the structure of a category REXT. The combinatorial data for this interpretation is realized as a functor MD $\to$ REXT, where MD refers to the s… ▽ More

Comparing AdS/QCD and Sum Rules predictions for $B\to K^*ν\barν$
Abstract: Using the form factors obtained from holographic AdS/QCD and QCD sum rules, we predict the differential branching ratio and longitudinal polarization fraction for the rare $B\to K^* ν\barν$ decay. This is an interesting decay channel as it does not suffer from hadronic uncertainties beyond the form factors. We point out that the future measurement of the $B\to K^* ν\barν$ with around 30% accuracy… ▽ More

Probing transition form factors in the rare $B\to K^*ν\barν$ decay
Abstract: We compare the Standard Model (SM) predictions for the differential branching ratio of the rare $B\to K^*ν\barν$ decays using $B \to K^*$ form factors obtained from holographic light-front QCD (hLFQCD) and Sum Rules (SR) Distribution Amplitudes. For the total branching ratio, we predict $\mathcal{BR}(\process)_{\rm hLFQCD}=(6.36^{+0.59}_{-0.74})\times 10^{-6}$ and… ▽ More
