The boundary stabilization problem of the Boussinesq KdV-KdV type system is investigated in this paper. An appropriate boundary feedback law consisting of a linear combination of a dam** mechanism and a delay term is designed. Then, first, considering time-varying delay feedback together with a smallness restriction on the length of the spatial domain and the initial data, we show that the problem under consideration is well-posed. The proof combines Kato's approach and the fixed-point argument. Last but not least, we prove that the energy of the linearized KdV-KdV system decays exponentially by employing the Lyapunov method.

Results of stabilization for the higher order of the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation are presented in this manuscript. Precisely, we prove with two different approaches that under the presence of a dam** mechanism and an internal delay term (anti-dam**) the solutions of the Kawahara-Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation are locally and globally exponentially stable. The main novelty is that we present the optimal constant, as well as the minimal time, that ensures that the energy associated with this system goes to zero exponentially.

In this paper, we consider the Kawahara equation in a bounded interval and with a delay term in one of the boundary conditions. Using two different approaches, we prove that this system is exponentially stable under a condition on the length of the spatial domain. Specifically, the first result is obtained by introducing a suitable energy and using the Lyapunov approach, to ensure that the unique solution of the Kawahara system exponentially decays. The second result is achieved by means of a compactness-uniqueness argument, which reduces our study to prove an observability inequality. Furthermore, the main novelty of this work is to characterize the critical set phenomenon for this equation by showing that the stability results hold whenever the spatial length is related to the Möbius transformations.

Studied here is the Kawahara equation, a fifth order Korteweg-de Vries type equation, with time-delayed internal feedback. Under suitable assumptions on the time delay coefficients we prove that solutions of this system are exponentially stable. First, considering a dam** and delayed system, with some restriction of the spatial length of the domain, we prove that the Kawahara system is exponentially stable for $T> T_{\min}$. After that, introducing a more general delayed system, and by introducing suitable energies, we show using Lyapunov approach, that the energy of the Kawahara equation goes to zero exponentially, considering the initial data small and a restriction in the spatial length of the domain. To remove these hypotheses, we use the compactness-uniqueness argument which reduces our problem to prove an observability inequality, showing a semi-global stabilization result.

We study the stabilization and the wellposedness of solutions of the wave equation with subcritical semilinearities and locally distributed nonlinear dissipation. The novelty of this paper is that we deal with the difficulty that the main equation does not have good nonlinear structure amenable to a direct proof of a priori bounds and a desirable observability inequality. It is well known that observability inequalities play a critical role in characterizing the long time behaviour of solutions of evolution equations, which is the main goal of this study. In order to address this, we truncate the nonlinearities, and thereby construct approximate solutions for which it is possible to obtain a priori bounds and prove the essential observability inequality. The treatment of these approximate solutions is still a challenging task and requires the use of Strichartz estimates and some microlocal analysis tools such as microlocal defect measures. We include an appendix on the latter topic here to make the article self contained and supplement details to proofs of some of the theorems which can be found in the lecture notes of Burq and Gérard (2001). Once we establish essential observability properties for the approximate solutions, it is not difficult to prove that the solution of the original problem also possesses a similar feature via a delicate passage to limit. In the last part of the paper, we establish various decay rate estimates for different growth conditions on the nonlinear dissipative effect. We in particular generalize the known results on the subject to a considerably larger class of dissipative effects.

In the more general case, this work contemplates the boundary control of a transmission problem admitting several zones of transmission. The result is obtained using the technique developed by David Russell, taking advantage of the local energy decay for the problem, obtained through the Scattering Theory as used by Vodev, combined with a powerful trace Theorem due to Tataru.

We begin with an auxiliary problem and we show that its solution decays exponentially in the weak phase space. Then, passing to the limit, we recover the original model and prove its global existence as well as the exponential stability.

We consider the Klein-Gordon system posed in an inhomogeneous medium with smooth boundary subject to a local viscoelastic dam** distributed around a neighborhoodof the boundary according to the Geometric Control Condition. We show that the energy of the system goes uniformly and exponentially to zero for all initial data of finite energy taken in bounded sets of finite energy phase-space. For this purpose, refined microlocal analysis arguments are considered by exploiting ideas due to Burq and Gerard . By using sharp Carleman estimates we prove a unique continuation property for coupled systems.
