Complex dynamics emerging in Rule 30 with majority memory
Abstract: In cellular automata with memory, the unchanged maps of the conventional cellular automata are applied to cells endowed with memory of their past states in some specified interval. We implement Rule 30 automata with a majority memory and show that using the memory function we can transform quasi-chaotic dynamics of classical Rule 30 into domains of travelling structures with predictable behaviou… ▽ More

Graphite from the viewpoint of Landau level spectroscopy: An effective graphene bilayer and monolayer
Abstract: We describe an infrared transmission study of a thin layer of bulk graphite in magnetic fields up to B = 34 T. Metastable states influence on the magnetic behavior of the triangular lattice: Application to the spin-chain compound Ca3Co2O6
Abstract: It is known that the spin-chain compound Ca3Co2O6 exhibits very interesting plateaus in the magnetization as a function of the magnetic field at low temperatures. The origin of them is still controversial. In this paper we study the thermal behavior of this compound with a single-flip Monte Carlo simulation on a triangular lattice and demonstrate the decisive influence of metastable states in th… ▽ More

Stochastic approach of gravitational waves in presence of a decaying cosmological parameter from a 5D vacuum theory of gravity
Abstract: We develop an stochastic approach to study gravitational waves produced during the inflationary epoch under the presence of a decaying cosmological parameter, on a 5D geometrical background which is Riemann flat. We obtain that the squared tensor metric fluctuations depend strongly on the cosmological parameter $Λ(t)$ and we finally illustrate the formalism with an example of a decaying $Λ(t)$.

Magneto infra-red absorption in high electronic density GaAs quantum wells
Abstract: Magneto infra-red absorption measurements have been performed in a highly doped GaAs quantum well which has been lifted off and bonded to a silicon substrate, in order to study the resonant polaron interaction. It is found that the pinning of the cyclotron energy occurs at an energy close to that of the transverse optical phonon of GaAs. This unexpected result is explained by a model taking into… ▽ More

Two large-area anode-pad MICROMEGAS chambers as the basic elements of a pre-shower detector
Abstract: The design of a detector based on MICROMEGAS (MICRO MEsh GAseous Structure) technology is presented. Our detector is characterized by a large active area of 398(\times)281 mm(^{2}), a pad read-out with 20(\times)22 mm(^{2}) segmentation, and an uniform amplification gap obtained by insulating spacers (100 (μ)m high and 200 (μ)m in diameter). The performances of several prototypes have been evalu… ▽ More

Thermal bremsstrahlung probing the thermodynamical state of multifragmenting systems
Abstract: Inclusive and exclusive hard-photon (E$_γ>$ 30 MeV) production in five different heavy-ion reactions ($^{36}$Ar+$^{197}$Au, $^{107}$Ag, $^{58}$Ni, $^{12}$C at 60{\it A} MeV and $^{129}$Xe+$^{120}$Sn at 50{\it A} MeV) has been studied coupling the TAPS photon spectrometer with several charged-particle multidetectors covering more than 80% of 4$π$. The measured spectra, slope parameters and source… ▽ More

Thermal hard-photons probing multifragmentation in nuclear collisions around the Fermi energy
Abstract: Hard-photon (E$_γ >$ 30 MeV) emission issuing from proton-neutron bremsstrahlung collisions is investigated in four different heavy-ion reactions at intermediate bombarding energies ($^{36}$Ar+$^{197}$Au, $^{107}$Ag, $^{58}$Ni, $^{12}$C at 60{\it A} MeV) coupling the TAPS photon spectrometer with two charged-particle multidetectors covering more than 80% of the solid angle. The hard-photon spect… ▽ More

Photon production in heavy-ion collisions close to the pion threshold
Abstract: We report on a measurement of hard photons (Eg>30 MeV) in the reaction Ar+Ca at 180A MeV at an energy in which photons from the decay of pi0 mesons are dominating. Simultaneous measurement with the TAPS spectrometer of the photon spectrum and photon-photon coincidences used for the identification of pi0 enabled the subtraction of pi0 contribution. The resulting photon spectrum exhibits an expone… ▽ More

Elliptic flow of $η$ and $π^{0}$ Mesons in Heavy-Ion Collisions at 2 AGeV
Abstract: Azimuthal distributions of $η$ and $π^{0}$ mesons emitted at midrapidity in collisions of 1.9 AGeV $^{58}$Ni+$^{58}$Ni and 2 AGeV $^{40}$Ca+$^{nat}$Ca are studied as a function of the number of projectile-like spectator nucleons. The observed anisotropy corresponds to a negative elliptic flow signal for $η$ mesons, indicating a preferred emission perpendicular to the reaction plane. In contrast,… ▽ More
