Hadronic resonances emerge from strong interactions encoding the dynamics of quarks and gluons. The structure of these resonances can be probed by virtual photons parameterized in transition form factors. In this study, twelve $N^*$ and $Δ$ transition form factors at the pole are extracted from data with the center-of-mass energy from $πN$ threshold to $1.8\,{\rm GeV}$, and the photon virtuality $0\leq Q^2/{\rm GeV}^2\leq 8$. For the first time, these results are determined from a simultaneous analysis of more than one state, i.e., $\sim 10^5$ $πN$, $ηN$, and $KΛ$ electroproduction data. In addition, about $ 5\cdot 10^4$ data in the hadronic sector as well as photoproduction serve as boundary conditions. For the $Δ(1232)$ and $N(1440)$ states our results are in qualitative agreement with previous studies, while the transition form factors at the poles of some higher excited states are estimated for the first time. Realistic uncertainties are determined by further exploring the parameter space.

As part of this investigation, data was also collected using a gaseous hydrogen target, not only for a precise absolute mass scale calibration but also for the study of Lambda/Sigma^0 electroproduction. This dataset was acquired at Q^2~0.5 (GeV/c)^2, W=2.14 GeV, and theta_{gamma K}^{c.m.}~8 deg. It covers forward angles where photoproduction data is scarce and a low-Q^2 region that is of interest for hypernuclear experiments. On the other hand, this kinematic region is at a slightly higher Q^2 than previous hypernuclear experiments, thus providing crucial information for understanding the Q^2 dependence of the differential cross sections for Lambda/Sigma^0 hyperon electroproduction. This paper reports on the Q^2 dependence of the differential cross section for the e + p -> e' + K^+ + Lambda/Sigma^0 reaction in the 0.2-0.8 (GeV/c)^2, and provides comparisons with the currently available theoretical models.

In this paper, we study the nuclear medium modifications of the meson electromagnetic form factors in the framework of the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model with the help of the Schwinger proper-time regularization scheme to tame loop divergence and simulate the effect of QCD confinement. In our current approach, the meson structure and nuclear medium are constructed in the same NJL model at the quark level. We examine the free space and in-medium charge radii for the kaon and pion, in addition to the spacelike elastic electromagnetic form factors of the kaon and pion as well as their quark-sector form factors, which reflect their internal structure. By comparing to the experimental data, we found that the free space elastic electromagnetic form factors for the mesons are consistent with the data, while the in-medium elastic electromagnetic form factors of the mesons are found to decrease as the nuclear matter density increases, leading to increase of meson charge radius, which is consistent with the prediction of other theory calculations. We also predict the axial nucleon coupling constant $g_A$ in nuclear medium computed via the Goldberger-Treiman relation (GTR), which is crucial for the search for the neutrinoless double beta decay ($0νββ$).

Investigating the properties of excited charmonia is important to clarify its internal structure. In this paper, we present the mass spectra (MS) and decay constants (DC) for charmonia up to 3S states calculated by means of the light-front quark model based on a variational approach. In particular, we consider the QCD-motivated effective Hamiltonian, which includes both confinement (linear and screened) and Coulomb-like potentials. Furthermore, since the existence of the nature of heavy quark symmetry, we treat hyperfine interactions perturbatively. We developed the harmonic oscillator expansion method to approximate the wave function (WF) for excited states. We found that the results of our theoretical calculations, using screened potentials rather than linear ones, are in good agreement with experimental data. By looking at the mass and decay constant result, we found that our result on the ψ(3S) state matched the properties of the ψ(4040) resonance.

We have analyzed the proton form factor data by using a number of phenomenological parameterizations (models) and extracting the proton electric and magnetic radii. To this end we performed a global fit to all available form factor data, with the virtual photon momentum squared $Q^2$ from $0.0002$ to nearly 10 GeV$^2$ for electric form factor and from $0.015$ to 31 GeV$^2$ for magnetic one. Special attention was given to the small structure shown by the form factor data near $Q^2 = 0.2$ GeV$^2$. It was found that different models yield different structures with different numbers of minimum at this kinematics. Since the slope of form factor in the limit of $Q^2\to 0$ is influenced by this structure, the extracted proton radii are consequently different for different models. Our finding recommends that future experiments should focus on this kinematics instead of low $Q^2$. Experimental data with accuracies comparable to those of the latest data at low $Q^2$ would clearly help to clarify the effect of this structure on the proton charge radius. Interestingly, most of the extracted proton charge radii were found to be closer to the value obtained from the muonic hydrogen atom spectroscopy.

We have investigated the effect of nucleon and delta resonances with spins 11/2, 13/2, and 15/2 in the kaon photoproduction process $γ+ N \to K + Y$ by using two covariant isobar models. The formalism for high-spin propagators and interaction Lagrangians were adopted from the works of Pascalutsa and Vrancx et al. The unknown parameters in the amplitudes, i.e., the coupling constants and hadronic form factor cutoffs, were obtained by fitting the calculated observables to experimental data. In the $KΛ$ channels the inclusion of $N(2600)I_{1,11}$ and $N(2700)K_{1,13}$ resonances improves the agreement between model calculations and experimental data significantly and reduces the dominance of resonances in the model by increasing the hadronic form factor cutoff of the Born terms. Furthermore, the inclusion of these resonances reduces the number of resonance structures in cross sections, including the structure in the $K^0Λ$ differential cross section at $W\approx 1650$ MeV, which could become a hint of the narrow resonance. In the $KΣ$ channels the inclusion of $N(2600)I_{1,11}$, $N(2700)K_{1,13}$, $Δ(2420)H_{3,11}$, $Δ(2750)I_{3,13}$, and $Δ(2950)K_{3,15}$ states also significantly improves the model and increases the hadronic form factor cutoff of the Born terms. However, different from the $KΛ$ channels, the inclusion of these high-spin resonances leads to more resonance structures in the $K^+Σ^0$ differential cross section. This investigation reveals that the second and third peaks in the $K^+Σ^0$ differential cross section originate from the $Δ(2000)F_{35}$ and $N(2290)G_{19}$ resonances, respectively. We have also evaluated the resonance properties at the pole positions and using the Breit-Wigner method.

This research quantitatively and qualitatively analyzes the factors responsible for the water level variations in Lake Toba, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia. According to several studies carried out from 1993 to 2020, changes in the water level were associated with climate variability, climate change, and human activities. Furthermore, these studies stated that reduced rainfall during the rainy season due to the El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and the continuous increase in the maximum and average temperatures were some of the effects of climate change in the Lake Toba catchment area. Additionally, human interventions such as industrial activities, population growth, and damage to the surrounding environment of the Lake Toba watershed had significant impacts in terms of decreasing the water level. However, these studies were unable to determine the factor that had the most significant effect, although studies on other lakes worldwide have shown these factors are the main causes of fluctuations or decreases in water levels. A simulation study of Lake Toba's water balance showed the possibility of having a water surplus until the mid-twenty-first century. The input discharge was predicted to be greater than the output; therefore, Lake Toba could be optimized without affecting the future water level. However, the climate projections depicted a different situation, with scenarios predicting the possibility of extreme climate anomalies, demonstrating drier climatic conditions in the future. This review concludes that it is necessary to conduct an in-depth, comprehensive, and systematic study to identify the most dominant factor among the three that is causing the decrease in the Lake Toba water level and to describe the future projected water level.

We have developed a covariant isobar model to phenomenologically explain the four possible isospin channels of $KΣ$ photoproduction. To obtain a consistent reaction amplitude, which is free from the lower-spin background problem, we used the consistent electromagnetic and hadronic interactions described in our previous report. We used all available experimental data, including the recent MAMI A2 2018 data obtained for the $K^0Σ^+$ and $K^0Σ^0$ isospin channels. By fitting the calculated observables to these data we extract the resonance properties, including their Breit-Wigner and pole parameters. Comparison of the extracted parameters with those listed by the Particle Data Group yields a nice agreement. An extensive comparison of the calculated observables with experimental data is also presented. By using the model we investigated the effects of three different form factors used in the hadronic vertex of each diagram. A brief discussion on the form factors is given.

In this paper I explain how I usually introduce the Schrödinger equation during the quantum mechanics course. My preferred method is the chronological one. Since the Schrödinger equation belongs to a special case of wave equations I start the course with introducing the wave equation. The Schrödinger equation is derived with the help of the two quantum concepts introduced by Max Planck, Einstein, and de Broglie, i.e., the energy of a photon $E=\hbarω$ and the wavelength of the de Broglie wave $λ=h/p$. Finally, the difference between the classical wave equation and the quantum Schrödinger one is explained in order to help the students to grasp the meaning of quantum wavefunction $Ψ({\bf r},t)$. A comparison of the present method to the approaches given by the authors of quantum mechanics textbooks as well as that of the original Nuffield A level is presented. It is found that the present approach is different from those given by these authors, except by Weinberg or Dicke and Wittke. However, the approach is in line with the original Nuffield A level one.

The superior CEBAF electron beam will enable a flux on the order of $1\times 10^4~K_L/sec$, which exceeds the flux of that previously attained at SLAC by three orders of magnitude. The use of a deuteron target will provide first measurements ever with neutral kaons on neutrons. The experiment will measure both differential cross sections and self-analyzed polarizations of the produced $Λ$, $Σ$, $Ξ$, and $Ω$ hyperons using the GlueX detector at the Jefferson Lab Hall D. The measurements will span CM $\cosθ$ from $-0.95$ to 0.95 in the range W = 1490 MeV to 2500 MeV. The new data will significantly constrain the partial wave analyses and reduce model-dependent uncertainties in the extraction of the properties and pole positions of the strange hyperon resonances, and establish the orbitally excited multiplets in the spectra of the $Ξ$ and $Ω$ hyperons. Comparison with the corresponding multiplets in the spectra of the charm and bottom hyperons will provide insight into he accuracy of QCD-based calculations over a large range of masses. The proposed facility will have a defining impact in the strange meson sector through measurements of the final state $Kπ$ system up to 2 GeV invariant mass. This will allow the determination of pole positions and widths of all relevant $K^\ast(Kπ)$ $S$-,$P$-,$D$-,$F$-, and $G$-wave resonances, settle the question of the existence or nonexistence of scalar meson $κ/K_0^\ast(700)$ and improve the constrains on their pole parameters. For this purpose we use the antisymmetric tensor spinor representation. By using the primary and secondary constraints we obtain the interaction fields that have the correct degrees of freedom. To visualize the result we calculate the contribution of spin-3/2 $Δ$ resonance to the total cross section of pion scattering and pion photoproduction off the nucleon. The result confirms that the scattering and photoproduction amplitudes obtained from the pure spin-3/2 representation with consistent interaction Lagrangians exhibit the required property of a resonance. Therefore, the formalism can be used for phenomenological investigations in the realm of nuclear and particle physics.

The new $γn\to K^0Λ$ data obtained from the CLAS and MAMI collaborations are analyzed by employing an effective Lagrangian method. The constructed model can describe all available experimental data in both $γp \to K^+Λ$ and $γn\to K^0Λ$ channels, simultaneously. The background part of the model is built from the appropriate intermediate states involving the nucleon, kaon, and hyperon exchanges, whereas the resonance part is constructed from the consistent interaction Lagrangians and propagators. To check the performance of the model a detailed comparison between the calculated observables and experimental data in both isospin channels is presented, from which a nice agreement can be observed. The discrepancy between the CLAS and MAMI data in the $γn\to K^0Λ$ channel is analyzed by utilizing three different models; M1, M2, and M3 that fit the CLAS, MAMI, and both CLAS and MAMI data sets, respectively. The effect of this discrepancy is studied by investigating the significance of individual nucleon resonances and the predicted beam-target helicity asymmetry $E$ that has been measured by the CLAS collaboration recently. It is found that the $N(1720)P_{13}$, $N(1900)P_{13}$, and $N(2060)D_{15}$ resonances are significant for improving the agreement between model calculation and data. This result is relatively stable to the choice of the model. The helicity asymmetry $E$ can be better explained by the models M1 and M3. Finally, the effect of the $N(1680)P_{11}$ narrow resonance on the cross section of both isospin channels is explored. It is found that the effect is more sensitive in the $γn\to K^0Λ$ channel. In this case the model M3, that fits both CLAS and MAMI data, yields a more realistic effect.

We have investigated phenomenological aspects of kaon photoproduction in three different extreme kinematics. The first kinematics of interest is the threshold region. At the threshold we have investigated the convergence of kaon photoproduction amplitude by expanding the square of the amplitude in terms of the ratio $m_K/m$, where $m_K$ is the mass of kaon and $m$ is the averaged mass of nucleon and $Λ$-hyperon. The amplitude is calculated from the appropriate Feynman diagrams by using the pseudovector theory. The contact diagram as a consequence of the PCAC hypothesis is also taken into account in the amplitude. Our finding indicates that the convergence can be only achieved if the amplitude was expanded up to at least $12^{\rm th}$ order. As a consequence, applications of some theoretical calculations based on the expansion the scattering amplitude, such as the Low Energy Theorem or Soft Kaon Approximation, cannot be easily managed in kaon photoproduction. The second kinematics is the forward region, where we could assume only $t$-channel contributes to the process. Here we have investigated the effect of amplitude expansion on the extraction of the coupling constants $g_{K^+Λp}$ and $g^V_{K_1^+Λp}$. The last kinematics is the backward region, where we have also assumed that only $u$-channel survives and we could extract the leading coupling constants $g_{K^+Λp} $ and $g_{K^+Σ^0 p}$.

To formulate the propagator in a covariant form we use the antisymmetric tensor spinor representation and we consider the $Δ$ resonance contribution to the elastic $πN$ scattering as an example. We find that the use of conventional gauge invariant interaction Lagrangian leads to a problem; the obtained scattering amplitude does not exhibit the resonance behavior. To overcome this problem we modify the interaction by adding a momentum dependence. As in the case of Rarita-Schwinger we find that a perfect resonance description could be obtained in the pure spin-3/2 formulation only if hadronic form factors were considered in the interactions.

We have studied the effect of free space nucleon radius on the nuclear matter and slowly rotating neutron star properties within a relativistic mean field model with the inclusion of omega-rho mixing nonlinear term. We use the same density dependent radius as in our previous work. However, in the present work we utilize the parameter sets with more proper symmetric nuclear matter (SNM) predictions for a number of different nucleon radii. To this end, the isoscalar parameters in each parameter set and the cutoff parameter $β$ are adjusted by fitting the corresponding SNM properties at sub-saturation density to the prediction of IUFSU parameter set. We have obtained that the assumption of composite nucleons with free space radius $r \le 0.83$ fm is still compatible with the currently acceptable nuclear matter (NM) properties beyond the saturation density. We have also found that the effect of free space nucleon radius could be imprinted in the radius, moment of inertia, and crust properties of the slowly rotating neutron star.

As a result, discrepancies between the extracted values from different precision measurements can exist. The proton charge radius, $r_p$, which is either extracted from electron proton elastic scattering data or from hydrogen atom spectroscopy seems to be no exception. The value $r_p = 0.84087(39)$ fm extracted from muonic hydrogen spectroscopy is about 4% smaller than that obtained from electron proton scattering or standard hydrogen spectroscopy. The resolution of this so called proton radius puzzle has been attempted in many different ways over the past six years. The present article reviews these attempts with a focus on the methods of extracting the radius.

Based on the first principle calculation, a Lagrangian for the system describing quarks, gluons, and their interactions, is constructed. Ascribed to the existence of dissipative behavior as a consequence of strong interaction within quark-gluon plasma (QGP) matter, auxiliary terms describing viscosities are constituted into the Lagrangian. Through a "kind" of phase transition, gluon field is redefined as a scalar field with four-vector velocity inherently attached. Then, the Lagrangian is elaborated further to produce the energy-momentum tensor of dissipative fluid-like system and the equation of motion (EOM). By imposing the law of energy and momentum conservation, the values of shear and bulk viscosities are analytically calculated. Our result shows that, at the energy level close to hadronization, the bulk viscosity is bigger than shear viscosity. By making use of the conjectured values $η/ s \sim 1 / 4π$ and $ζ/ s \sim 1$, the ratio of bulk to shear viscosity is found to be $ζ/ η> 4 π$.

Photo- and electroproduction of $KΣ$ have been investigated near their production thresholds by using an effective Lagrangian approach. For this purpose, the background amplitude is constructed from suitable Feynman diagrams, whereas the resonance terms are calculated by means of the Breit-Wigner form of multipoles. Experimental data available in the proton channels ($K^+Σ^0$ and $K^0Σ^+$) with energies up to 50 MeV above the thresholds have been utilized to extract the unknown parameters. In these proton channels the calculated observables fit nicely the experimental data, whereas in the neutron channels ($K^+Σ^-$ and $K^0Σ^0$) the predicted observables contain some uncertainties due to the the uncertainties in the values of helicity photon couplings. To this end, new $K^0Σ^+$ photoproduction data are urgently required. The present analysis indicates the validity of the $P_Λ= -\frac{1}{3} P_Σ$ relation derived a long time ago. In the electroproduction sector the present analysis confirms the smooth transition between photoproduction and low $Q^2$ electroproduction data. The effect of new Crystal Ball data is shown to be mild at the backward angles. It is also found that the electroproductions of $K^0Σ^+$ and $K^0Σ^0$ are practically not the suitable reactions for investigating the $K^0$ charge form factor, since the effect is small.

We have examined the existence of the $N^*(1685)$ resonance, which is recently listed by the Particle Data Group as a one-star nucleon resonance, by using a covariant isobar model for kaon photoproduction and assuming that the resonance has $J^p=1/2^+$, in accordance with our previous finding. After the inclusion of this resonance the changes in the total $χ^2$ show two clear minima at $M_{N^*}=1650$ and 1696 MeV, which correspond to two different resonance states. The former corresponds to the narrow nucleon resonance found in our previous investigation, whereas the latter corresponds to a new resonance found as we increase the resonance width. From the latter we derive the mass and width relation of the $N^*(1685)$ resonance. We observe that the properties of both the $N^*(1685)$ and $N^*(1710)P_{11}$ resonances are strongly correlated. Although the best fit of the present work yields $M_{N^*}=1696$ MeV and $Γ_{N^*}=76$ MeV, the apparently small $N^*(1710)P_{11}$ coupling constant to the $K^+Λ$ channel found in previous investigations suggests that $Γ_{N^*}\lesssim 35$ MeV, which, according to the mass and width relation, corresponds to $M_{N^*}\lesssim 1680$ MeV.

Measurements of $γp \rightarrow K^{+} Λ$ and $γp \rightarrow K^{+} Σ^0$ cross-sections have been obtained with the photon tagging facility and the Crystal Ball calorimeter at MAMI-C. The measurement uses a novel $K^+$ meson identification technique in which the weak decay products are characterized using the energy and timing characteristics of the energy deposit in the calorimeter, a method that has the potential to be applied at many other facilities. The fine center-of-mass energy ($W$) resolution and statistical accuracy of the new data results in a significant impact on partial wave analyses aiming to better establish the excitation spectrum of the nucleon. The new analyses disfavor a strong role for quark-diquark dynamics in the nucleon.

We have calculated the proton charge radius by assuming that the real proton radius is not unique and the radii are randomly distributed in a certain range. This is performed by averaging the elastic electron-proton differential cross section over the form factor cut-off. By using a dipole form factor and fitting the middle value of the cut-off to the low $Q^2$ Mainz data, we found the lowest $χ^2/N$ for a cut-off $Λ=0.8203\pm 0.0003$ GeV, which corresponds to a proton charge radius $r_E=0.8333\pm 0.0004$ fm. The result is compatible with the recent precision measurement of the Lamb shift in muonic hydrogen as well as recent calculations using more sophisticated techniques. Our result indicates that the relative variation of the form factor cut-off should be around 21.5%. Based on this result we have investigated effects of the nucleon radius variation on the symmetric nuclear matter (SNM) and the neutron star matter (NSM) by considering the excluded volume effect in our calculation. The mass-radius relation of neutron star is found to be sensitive to this variation. The nucleon effective mass in the SNM as well as the equation of state of both the SNM and the NSM exhibit a similar sensitivity.

Although the contribution of the $D_{13}(2080)$ resonance is not negligible, it is much smaller than that of the $P_{13}(1900)$ state. The differential cross sections for the neutrino-induced weak charged current production of strange particles in the threshold energy region are presented. The general representation of the weak hadronic current is newly developed in terms of eighteen unknown invariant amplitudes to parametrize the hadron vertex. The Born term approximation is used for the numerical calculations in the framework of the Cabibbo theory and SU(3) symmetry. For unpolarized octet baryons four processes are investigated, whereas in the case of polarized baryons only one process is chosen to study the sensitivity of the differential cross section to the various polarizations of the initial state nucleon and the final state hyperon.

We have investigated the existence of the J^p=1/2^+ narrow resonance predicted by the chiral soliton model by utilizing the kaon photoproduction process gamma + p --> K^+ + Lambda. For this purpose we have constructed two phenomenological models based on our previous effective Lagrangian model, which are able to describe kaon photoproduction from threshold up to W = 1730 MeV. By varying the mass (width) of an inserted P_{11} resonance from 1620 to 1730 MeV (0.1 to 1 MeV and 1 to 10 MeV) a number of fits has been performed in order to search for the resonance mass. Our result indicates that the most promising candidate mass (width) of this resonance is 1650 MeV (5 MeV). Although our calculation does not exclude the possibility of narrow resonances with masses of 1680, 1700 and 1720 MeV, the mass of 1650 MeV is obtained for all phenomenological models used in this investigation. Variations of the resonance width and $KΛ$ branching ratio are found to have a mild effect on the chi^2. The possibility that the obtained result originates from other resonance states is also discussed.

A formalism for the electromagnetic production of hypernuclei is developed where the cross section is written as a contraction between a leptonic tensor and a hadronic tensor. The hadronic tensor is written in a model-independent way by expanding it in terms of a set of five nuclear structure functions. These structure functions are calculated by assuming that the virtual photon interacts with only one bound nucleon. We use the most recent model for the elementary current operator which gives a good description of the experimental data for the corresponding elementary process. The bound state wave functions for the bound nucleon and hyperon are calculated within a relativistic mean-field model. We calculate the unpolarized triple differential cross section for the hypernuclear production process e + 12C --> e + K+ + 12_Lambda{B} as a function of the kaon scattering angle. The nuclear structure functions are calculated within a particle-hole model. The cross section displays a characteristic form of being large for small values of the kaon scattering angle with a smooth fall-off to zero with increasing angle. The shape of the cross section is essentially determined by the nuclear structure functions. In addition, it is found that for the unpolarized triple differential cross section one structure function is negligible over the entire range of the kaon scattering angle.

Kaon photo- and electroproduction off a proton near the production threshold are investigated by utilizing an isobar model. The background amplitude of the model is constructed from Feynman diagrams, whereas the resonance term is calculated by using the multipole formalism. It is found that both pseudoscalar and pseudovector models can nicely describe the available photoproduction data up to W = 50 MeV above the threshold. The Lambda resonance S_{01}(1800) is found to play an important role in improving the model. In the case of double polarization observables Ox and Oz our result corroborates the finding of Sandorfi et al. Due to the large contributions of the K* and K1 vector mesons, extending the model to the case of electroproduction is almost impossible unless either special form factors that strongly suppress their contributions are introduced or all hadronic coupling constants are refitted to both photo- and electroproduction databases, simultaneously. It is also concluded that investigation of the kaon electromagnetic form factor is not recommended near the threshold region.

We have investigated the accuracies of calculations made by omitting the higher partial waves of nuclear wave functions and the elementary relativistic terms in the hypertriton electroproduction. We found that an accurate calculation would still be obtained if we used at least three lowest partial waves with isospin T = 0. Furthermore, we found that the omission of the relativistic terms in the elementary process amplitude could lead to a large deviation from the full calculation. We also present the cpu-times required to calculate the cross sections. For future consideration the use of these lowest partial waves is suggested, since the calculated cross section deviates only about 0.17 nb/sr (approximately 4%), at most, from the full calculation, whereas the cpu-time is reduced by a factor of 60. Comparison of our result with the available experimental data supports these findings.

The effect of neutrino trap** on the longitudinal dielectric function at low densities has been investigated by using different relativistic mean field models. Parameter sets G2 of Furnstahl-Serot-Tang and Z271 of Horowitz-Piekarewicz, along with the adjusted parameter sets of both models, have been used in this study. The role of the isovector adjustment and the effect of the Coulomb interaction have been also studied. The effect of the isovector adjustment is found to be more significant in the Horowitz-Piekarewicz model, not only in the neutrinoless matter, but also in the matter with neutrino trap**. Although almost independent to the variation of the leptonic fraction, the instability region of matter with neutrino trap** is found to be larger. The presence of more protons and electrons compared to the neutrinoless case is the reason behind this finding. For parameter sets with soft equation of states at low density, the appearance of a large and negative epsilon_L (q, q0 = 0) in some parts of the edge of the instability region in matter with neutrino trap** is understood as a consequence of the fact that the Coulomb interaction produced by electrons and protons interaction is larger than the repulsive isovector interaction created by the asymmetry between the proton and neutron numbers.

Differential cross sections of the photo- and electroproduction of the hypertriton have been calculated by utilizing modern nuclear wave functions and the elementary operator of KAON-MAID. It is found that a proper treatment of Fermi motion is essential for the two processes. While the average momentum approximation can partly simulate the Fermi motion in the process, the ``frozen nucleon'' assumption yields very different results, especially at lower energies. The Coulomb effect induced by the interaction between the positively charged kaon and the hypertriton is found to be negligible. The influence of higher partial waves is also found to be relatively small, in contrast to the finding of the previous work. The off-shell assumption is found to be very sensitive in the case of electroproduction rather than in photoproduction. It is shown that the few available experimental data favor the assumption that the initial nucleon is off-shell and the final hyperon is on-shell. This seems to be reasonable, since the hyperon in the hypertriton is less bound than the nucleon in the initial 3He nucleus. The effect of the missing resonance D_{13}(1895) is more profound in the longitudinal cross sections. Excluding this resonance reduces the longitudinal cross sections by one order of magnitude, but does not change the effects of various off-shell assumptions on the cross sections.

We show that we are able to extract the pion electromagnetic form factor by using the recent charged pion electroproduction data from JLab and a simple t-channel diagram. For this purpose we have performed the Q2-independent and dependent analyses. The result of the first analysis is in good agreement with those of previous works and fit the Maris and Tandy model as well as the monopole parameterization which describes a pion radius of 0.672 fm. The result of the second analysis corroborates the findings in the first analysis. Our findings therefore provide a direct proof that at the given kinematics the t-channel diagram really dominates the process. This could also set a new constraint to the phenomenological models that try to describe the process.

Contribution of the K^+Λchannel to the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn (GDH) sum rule has been calculated by using the models that fit the recent SAPHIR or CLAS differential cross section data. It is shown that the two data sets yield quite different contributions. Contribution of this channel to the forward spin polarizability of the proton has been also calculated. It is also shown that the inclusion of the recent CLAS C_x and C_z data in the fitting data base does not significantly change the result of the present calculation. Results of the fit, however, reveal the role of the S_{11}(1650), P_{11}(1710), P_{13}(1720), and P_{13}(1900) resonances for the description of the C_x and C_z data. A brief discussion on the importance of these resonances is given. Measurements of the polarized total cross section σ_{TT'} by the CLAS, LEPS, and MAMI collaborations are expected to verify this finding.

The instability of nuclear matter due to particle-hole excitation modes has been studied in the frame-work of several relativistic mean field (RMF) models. It is found that both the longitudinal and the transversal modes depend sensitively on the parameter sets used. The important impact of the vector and vector-scalar nonlinear terms on the stability of both modes is demonstrated. Our finding corroborates the result of previous studies, namely that certain RMF models cannot be used in high density applications. However, we show that for certain parameter sets of RMF models this shortcoming can be alleviated by adding these nonlinear terms.

Starting from this principle, we discuss two interesting research topics, which have currently drawn considerable attention in the nuclear- and astrophysics communities; the hypernuclear and neutron star physics. Special attention is given to the electromagnetic production of the hypertriton and the consequences of the neutrino electromagnetic properties in dense matter. We also touch on the new arena which could also be fascinating for physicists; the econophysics.

The recently published experimental data on K+Lambda photoproduction by the SAPHIR, CLAS, and LEPS collaborations are analyzed by means of a multipole approach. For this purpose the background amplitudes are constructed from appropriate Feynman diagrams in a gauge-invariant and crossing-symmetric fashion. The results of our calculation emphasize the lack of mutual consistency between the SAPHIR and CLAS data previously found by several independent research groups, whereas the LEPS data are found to be more consistent with those of CLAS. The use of SAPHIR and CLAS data, individually or simultaneously, leads to quite different resonance parameters which, therefore, could lead to different conclusions on ``missing resonances''. Fitting to the SAPHIR and LEPS data simultaneously indicates that the S_{11}(1650), P_{13}(1720), D_{13}(1700), D_{13}(2080), F_{15}(1680), and F_{15}(2000) resonances are required, while fitting to the combination of CLAS and LEPS data leads alternatively to the P_{13}(1900), D_{13}(2080), D_{15}(1675), F_{15}(1680), and F_{17}(1990) resonances. Although yielding different results in most cases, both SAPHIR and CLAS data indicate that the second peak in the cross sections at W = 1900 MeV originates from the D_{13}(2080) resonance with a mass between 1911 - 1936 MeV. Furthermore, in contrast to the results of currently available models and the Table of Particle Properties, both data sets do not exhibit the need for a P_{11}(1710) resonance. The few data points available for target asymmetry can not be described by the models proposed in the present work.
