This work comprises a study of the thermodynamic behavior of modified $f(\bar{R},\bar{T})$ gravity, which had been developed based on a non-canonical theory known as K-essence theory. In this development, we use the Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) type of non-standard Lagrangian. We develop a modified first law and generalized second law of thermodynamics (GSLT) within the modified $f(\bar{R},\bar{T})$ gravity, where we consider the background metric to be the usual Friedmann-Lema$\hat{\text{i}}$tre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) type. A graphical analysis of surface gravity has been performed for the modified FLRW metric via the $f(\bar{R},\bar{T})$ theory, which is different from the usual FLRW gravity through the usual $f(R,T)$ gravity. In the study of the thermodynamic behavior of the cosmos, we use two distinct kinds of scale factors: exponential and power law. Through the investigation of the modified GSLT, we have seen that during the initial phase of the universe, the entropy's rate of change may be either negative or positive, contingent upon the value of the curvature constant. The negativity of the entropy change indicates that the modified GSLT is not feasible in that particular area for a particular curvature constant. These traits suggest that during the inflationary period, entropy might have been either negative or positive. It has also been seen that entropy saturates every curvature value at different time ranges, which indicates the heat death of the universe.

Abstract:
We show that the Raychaudhuri equation remains invariant for certain solutions of scalar fields $φ$ whose Lagrangian is non-canonical and of the form $\mathcal{L}(X,φ)=-V(φ)F(X)$, with $X=\frac{1}{2} g_{μν} \nabla^μφ\nabla^ν φ$, $V(φ)$ the potential. Solutions exist for both homogeneous and inhomogeneous fields and are reminiscent of inflaton scenarios.

Colloidal gels undergo a phenomenon known as physical aging, i.e., a continuous change of their physical properties with time after the gel point. To date, most of the research effort on aging in gels has been focused on suspensions of hard colloidal particles. In this letter, we tackle the case of soft colloidal "micelles" comprised of proteins, where gelation is induced by the addition of an enzyme. Using time-resolved mechanical spectroscopy, we monitor the viscoelastic properties of a suspension of colloidal micelles through the sol-gel transition and its subsequent aging. We show that the microscopic scenario underpinning the macroscopic aging dynamics comprises two sequential steps. First, the gel microstructure undergoes rapid coarsening, as observed by optical microscopy, followed by arrest. Second, aging occurs solely through a contact-driven mechanism, as evidenced by the square-root dependence of the yield stress with the elastic modulus measured at different ages of the gel. These results provide a comprehensive understanding of aging in enzymatic milk gels, which is crucial not only for a broad range of dairy products, but also for soft colloids in general.

In this work, we have developed the Raychaudhuri equation in $f(\bar{R},\bar{T})$ gravity in the setting of a non-canonical theory, namely K-essence theory. We solve the modified Raychaudhuri equation for the additive form of $f(\bar{R},\bar{T})$, which is $f_{1}(\bar{R})+f_{2}(\bar{T})$. For this solution, we employ two different scale factors to give two types of $f(\bar{R},\bar{T})$ solutions. By conducting a viability test and analyzing energy conditions, we have determined that in the first scenario, the null energy condition (NEC) is violated between two regions where the NEC is satisfied. Additionally, we have observed that this violation of the NEC exhibits a symmetric property during the phase transition. These observations indicate that bouncing events may occur as a result of the symmetrical violation of the NEC during the expansion of the universe. Once again, this model indicates that resonant-type quantum tunneling may take place during the period where the NEC is violated. In the second scenario, our model indicates that the strong energy condition is violated, but the NEC and weak energy conditions are satisfied. The effective energy density decreases and is positive, while the effective pressure and equation of state parameters are negative. This suggests that the universe is expanding with acceleration and is dominated by dark energy.

Based on the work of Chandrasekhar [{\it The Mathematical Theory of Black Holes, Oxford Univ. Press (1992)}], we investigate the null geodesic structure of the emergent Barriola-Vilenkin spacetime in the context of {\bf k-}essence theory. For {\bf k-}essence, the emergent gravity metric is a one-to-one correspondence with the Barriola-Vilenkin (BV) metric connected to the Schwarzschild background, where the global monopole charge is replaced by the dark energy density. This equivalence holds specifically for a certain class of {\bf k-}essence scalar fields that have been constructed by Gangopadhyay and Manna [Euro. Phys. Lett., 100, 49001, (2012)]. We have traced out different trajectories for null geodesic in the presence of dark energy for the {\bf k-}essence emergent Barriola-Vilenkin spacetime. It is demonstrated that the outcomes deviate from the typical Schwarzchild spacetime owing to the fundamental configuration with a constant dark energy density.

This article investigates on the radial and non-radial geodesic structures of the generalized K-essence Vaidya spacetime. Within the framework of K-essence geometry, it is important to note that the metric does not possess conformal equivalence to the conventional gravitational metric. This study employs a non-canonical action of the Dirac-Born-Infeld kind. In this work, we categorize the generalized K-essence Vaidya mass function into two distinct forms. Both the forms of the mass functions have been extensively utilized to analyze the radial and non-radial time-like or null geodesics in great details inside the comoving plane. Indications of the existence of wormhole can be noted during the extreme phases of spacetime, particularly in relation to black holes and white holes, which resemble the Einstein-Rosen bridge. In addition, we have also detected the distinctive indication of the quantum tunneling phenomenon around the central singularity.

This study focuses on investigating the collapse possibilities of the generalized emergent Vaidya spacetime within the framework of $f(\bar{R}, \bar{T})$ gravity, specifically in the setting of K-essence theory. The Dirac-Born-Infeld type non-standard Lagrangian is used in this work to determine the emergent metric $\bar{G}_{μν}$, which is not conformally equal to the usual gravitational metric. Here, we employ the function $f(\bar{R}, \bar{T})$ to represent the additive character of the emergent Ricci scalar ($\bar{R}$) and trace of the emergent energy-momentum tensor ($\bar{T}$). In our analysis, it can be shown that certain selections of $f(\bar{R}, \bar{T})$ can lead to the presence of a naked singularity resulting from gravitational collapse. Additionally, alternative choices of $f(\bar{R}, \bar{T})$ were found to yield an accelerating universe primarily governed by dark energy. In addition, the investigation revealed the existence of both positive and negative masses, which can be understood as a gravitational dipole. It is also found that the K-essence theory has the potential to serve as both a dark energy framework and a simple gravitational theory at the same time, allowing for the investigation of a wide range of cosmological phenomena.

To construct $f(R,T)$ gravity model, we consider the functional form of $f(R,T)$ as the sum of two independent functions of the Ricci scalar $R$ and the trace of the energy-momentum tensor $T$, respectively. Under the consideration of this type of power law expansion of the Universe we have studied the viability, stability and all the energy conditions. The corresponding $k$-essence emergent spacetime is not conformally equivalent to the usual gravitational metric. We assume that the background gravitational metric is of the Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) type in this case. We have found that both the conditional singular and non-singular cosmological models of the universe through the modified Raychaudhuri equation are possible where we have used the spacetime as the flat $k$-essence emergent FLRW-type. We have also addressed to the Focusing theorem and conditional caustic universe construction. These conditional effects are caused by the additional interactions that arise as a result of the coupling that exists between the gravity and the $k$-essence scalar field.

The chiral magneto-electric compound Ni3TeO6 is investigated through temperature-dependent synchrotron-based powder x-ray diffraction and x-ray absorption spectroscopy between 15 to 300 K. Our work provides direct evidence for the exchange-striction in the material around the concomitant onset point of collinear antiferromagnetic and magneto-electric phases. The x-ray absorption near edge spectra and x-ray photoelectron spectra show that the sample consists of both Ni2+ and Ni3+ ions in the lattice. The ionic state of Ni is found to be quite robust, and it is largely independent of the preparation route. Additionally, the minority Te4+ state is found to coexist with the majority Te6+ state, which may arise from the charge disproportionation between Ni and Te ions (Ni2+ + Te6+ --> Ni3+ + Te4+). The observed mixed valency of Ni is also confirmed by the total paramagnetic moment per Ni atom in the system. This mixed valency in the metal ions and the exchange-striction may be attributed to the observed magneto-electric effect in the system.

In this paper, we study the collapsing scenario for the k-essence emergent Vaidya spacetime in the context of massive gravity's rainbow. For this study, we consider that the background metric is Vaidya spacetime in massive gravity's rainbow. We show that the k-essence emergent gravity metric resembles closely to the new type of generalized Vaidya massive gravity metric with the rainbow deformations for null fluid collapse where we consider the k-essence scalar field as a function solely of the advanced or the retarded time. The k-essence emergent Vaidya massive gravity rainbow mass function is also different. This new type k-essence emergent Vaidya massive gravity rainbow metric has satisfied the required energy conditions. The existence of the locally naked central singularity, the strength and the strongness of the singularities for the rainbow deformations of the k-essence emergent Vaidya massive gravity metric are the interesting outcomes of the present work.

This study aims to investigate the impact of dark energy in cosmological scenarios by exploiting $f(\bar{R},\bar{T})$ gravity within the framework of a {\it non-standard} theory, called {\it {\bf K-}essence} theory, where $\bar{R}$ represents the Ricci scalar and $\bar{T}$ denotes the trace of the energy-momentum tensor associated with the {\bf K-}essence geometry. The Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) non-standard Lagrangian has been employed to generate the emergent gravity metric $(\bar{G}_{μν})$ associated with the {\bf K-}essence. This metric is distinct from the usual gravitational metric $(g_{μν})$. It has been shown that under a flat FLRW background gravitational metric, the modified field equations and the Friedmann equations of the $f(\bar{R},\bar{T})$ gravity are distinct from the usual ones. In order to get the equation of state (EOS) parameter $ω$, we have solved the Friedmann equations by taking into account the function $f(\bar{R},\bar{T})\equiv f(\bar{R})+λ\bar{T}$, where $λ$ represents a parameter within the model. We have found a relationship between $ω$ and time for different kinds of $f(\bar{R})$ by treating the kinetic energy of the {\bf K-}essence scalar field ($\dotφ^{2}$) as the dark energy density which fluctuates with time. Surprisingly, this result meets the condition of the restriction on $\dotφ^{2}$. By presenting graphical representations of the EOS parameter with time, we show that our model is consistent with the data of $SNIa$+$BAO$+$H(z)$ within a certain temporal interval.

The emergent gravity metric $\bar{G}_{μν}$ and the well known gravitational metric $g_{μν}$ are not conformally equivalent. We have constructed a modified field equation using the metric formalism in $f(\bar{R}, L(X))$-gravity incorporating the corresponding Friedmann equations in the framework of the background gravitational metric which is of Friedmann-Lema{î}tre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) type. The solution of modified Friedmann equations have been deduced for the specific choice of $f(\bar{R}, L(X))$, which is of Starobinsky-type, using power law expansion method. The consistency of the model with the accelerating phase of the Universe has been shown, when we restrict ourselves to consider the value of the dark energy density, as $\dotφ^{2}=\frac{8}{9}=0.888 <1$, which indicates that the present Universe is dark energy dominated. Graphical plots for the energy density ($ρ$), pressure ($p$) and equation of state parameter ($ω$) w.r.t. time ($t$) based on parametric values are interestingly consistent with the dark energy domination and hence accelerating features. We also put some light on the corresponding energy conditions and constraints of the $f(\bar{R}, L(X))$ theory with one basic example.

The {\bf k-}essence emergent Reissner-Nordstrom-de Sitter spacetime has exactly mapped on to the Robinson-Trautman (RT) type spacetime with cosmological constant $Ł$ for certain configuration of {\bf k-}essence scalar field. Theoretically, we evaluated that the thermodynamical quantities for the RT type emergent black hole is different from the usual one in the presence of kinetic energy of the {\bf k-}essence scalar field i.e., the dark energy density. We restrict ourselves into the fact that the dark energy density (K) is to be unity, then the effective temperature and pressure both are negative for the RT type emergent black hole which implies that the system is thermodynamically unstable when the charge $Q\neq 0$ and the emergent spacetime is only dark energy dominated and it does not radiate when $Q=0$. The thermodynamically unstable situation is physically plausible only when we consider spin degrees of freedom of a system. We have made this analysis in the context of dark energy in an emergent gravity scenario having {\bf k-}essence scalar fields $φ$ with a Dirac-Born-Infeld type lagrangian. We obtain the analogues of the Friedman equations in an emergent gravity scenario in the presence of dark energy. The background metric is taken to be Friedman-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW). We show that if $\dotφ^{2}$ is the dark energy density (in units of the critical density) then (a) for total energy density greater than the pressure (non-relativistic scenario, matter domination) the deceleration parameter $q(t)\approx\frac {1}{2} [1 + 27 \dotφ^{2}+...] > \frac{1}{2}$ (b) for total energy density equal to 3 times the pressure (relativistic case, radiation domination), the deceleration parameter $q(t)\approx 1 + 18\dotφ^{2} +... > 1$ and (c) for total energy density equal to the negative of the pressure (dark energy scenario), the deceleration parameter $q(t)< -1$. Our results indicate that many aspects of standard cosmology can be accommodated with the presence of dark energy right from the beginning of the universe where the time parameter $t\equiv \frac{t}{t_{0}}$, $t_{0}$ being the present epoch.

The Ostrogradski approach for the Hamiltonian formalism of higher derivative theory is not satisfactory because of the reason that the Lagrangian cannot be viewed as a function on the tangent bundle to coordinate manifold. In this article, we have used an alternative approach which leads directly to the Lagrangian which, being a function on the tangent manifold, gives correct equation of motion; no new coordinate variables need to be added. This approach can be directly used to the singular (in Ostrogradski sense) Lagrangian. We have used this method for the Regge Teitelboim (RT) minisuperspace cosmological model. We have obtained the Hamiltonian of the dynamical equation of the scale factor of RT model.

For emergent gravity metrics, presence of dark energy modifies the Hawking temperature. We show that for the spherically symmetric Reissner-Nordstrom (RN) background metric, the emergent metric can be mapped into a Robinson-Trautman blackhole. Allowed values of the dark energy density follow from rather general conditions. For some allowed value of the dark energy density this blackhole can have zero Hawking temperature i.e. the blackhole does not radiate. For a Kerr background along $θ=0$, the emergent blackhole metric satisfies Einstein's equations for large $r$ and always radiates. Our analysis is done in the context of emergent gravity metrics having $k-$essence scalar fields $φ$ with a Born-Infeld type lagrangian. In both cases the scalar field $φ(r,t)=φ_{1}(r)+φ_{2}(t)$ also satisfies the emergent gravity equations of motion for $r\rightarrow\infty$ and $θ=0$.

Abstract:
An emergent gravity metric incorporating $k-$essence scalar fields $φ$ having a Born-Infeld type lagrangian is mapped into a metric whose structure is similar to that of a blackhole of large mass $M$ that has swallowed a global monopole. An emergent gravity metric incorporating $k-$essence scalar fields $φ$ having a Born-Infeld type lagrangian is mapped into a metric whose structure is similar to that of a blackhole of large mass $M$ that has swallowed a global monopole. However, here the field is not that of a monopole but rather that of a $k-$essence scalar field. If $φ_{emergent}$ be solutions of the emergent gravity equations of motion under cosmological boundary conditions at $\infty$, then for $r\rightarrow\infty$ the rescaled field $\frac {φ_{emergent}}{2GM-1}$ has exact correspondence with $φ$ with $φ(r,t)=φ_{1}(r)+φ_{2}(t)$. The Hawking temperature of this metric is $T_{\mathrm emergent}= \frac{\hbar c^{3}}{8πGM k_{\mathrm B}}(1-K)^{2}\equiv \frac{\hbar}{8πGM k_{\mathrm B}}(1-K)^{2}$, taking the speed of light $c=1$. Here $K=\dotφ_{2}^{2}$ is the kinetic energy of the $k-$essence field $φ$ and $K$ is always less than unity, $k_{\mathrm B}$ is the Boltzmann constant. This is phenomenologically interesting in the context of Belgiorno {\it et al's} gravitational analogue experiment.

It is known that dynamical solutions of the $k$-essence equation of motion change the metric for the perturbations around these solutions and the perturbations propagate in an emergent spacetime with metric $\tilde G^{μν}$ different from the gravitational metric $g^{μν}$. We show that for observers travelling with the perturbations, there exist homogeneous field configurations for the lagrangian $L=[{1\over 2}g^{μν}\nabla_μφ\nabla_νφ]^{2}$ for which a singularity in the gravitational metric $g^{μν}$ can be masked or hidden for such observers. This is shown for the Schwarzschild and the Reissner-Nordstrom metrics.

The Hawking temperature for the Barriola-Vilenkin global monopole metric is shown to be $T_{\mathrm BV}= {\hbar (1-α) ^{2}\over8πGM k_{\mathrm B}}$, where $α$ is the global monopole charge,$M$ the mass of the black hole, $k_{\mathrm B}$ is the Boltzmann constant and speed of light $c=1$. We then show that a similar metric can also be obtained for certain $k-$ essence field configurations in an emergent gravity situation. Therefore, in the context of Belgiorno {\it et al's} recent demonstration of spontaneous emission of photons in a gravitational analogue experiment, any future observation of $T_{\mathrm BV}$ need not necessarily imply the existence of global monopoles. An alternative implication might as well be a very indirect signature of dark energy in an emergent gravity scenario. This should lead to effects that may be detectable in refined and modified versions of Belgiorno {\it et al's} experiment.
