Disaster Management is one of the most promising research areas because of its significant economic, environmental and social repercussions. This research focuses on analyzing different types of data (pre and post satellite images and twitter data) related to disaster management for in-depth analysis of location-wise emergency requirements. This research has been divided into two stages, namely, satellite image analysis and twitter data analysis followed by integration using location. The first stage involves pre and post disaster satellite image analysis of the location using multi-class land cover segmentation technique based on U-Net architecture. The second stage focuses on map** the region with essential information about the disaster situation and immediate requirements for relief operations. The severely affected regions are demarcated and twitter data is extracted using keywords respective to that location. The extraction of situational information from a large corpus of raw tweets adopts Content Word based Tweet Summarization (COWTS) technique. An integration of these modules using real-time location-based map** and frequency analysis technique gathers multi-dimensional information in the advent of disaster occurrence such as the Kerala and Mississippi floods that were analyzed and validated as test cases. The novelty of this research lies in the application of segmented satellite images for disaster relief using highlighted land cover changes and integration of twitter data by map** these region-specific filters for obtaining a complete overview of the disaster.

By directly altering microscopic interactions, pressure provides a powerful tuning knob for the exploration of condensed phases and geophysical phenomena. The megabar regime represents an exciting frontier, where recent discoveries include novel high-temperature superconductors, as well as structural and valence phase transitions. However, at such high pressures, many conventional measurement techniques fail. Here, we demonstrate the ability to perform local magnetometry inside of a diamond anvil cell with sub-micron spatial resolution at megabar pressures. Our approach utilizes a shallow layer of Nitrogen-Vacancy (NV) color centers implanted directly within the anvil; crucially, we choose a crystal cut compatible with the intrinsic symmetries of the NV center to enable functionality at megabar pressures. We apply our technique to characterize a recently discovered hydride superconductor, CeH$_9$. By performing simultaneous magnetometry and electrical transport measurements, we observe the dual signatures of superconductivity: local diamagnetism characteristic of the Meissner effect and a sharp drop of the resistance to near zero. By locally map** the Meissner effect and flux trap**, we directly image the geometry of superconducting regions, revealing significant inhomogeneities at the micron scale. Our work brings quantum sensing to the megabar frontier and enables the closed loop optimization of superhydride materials synthesis.

There are numerous geo-climatic and human factors that contribute to the occurrence of natural disasters in the real-world scenario. Besides the study of causes and preconditions of such calamities, post-disaster analysis is essential for the efficient management of the disaster situation. This process needs timely and accurate data in light of the increasing frequency and severity of climate change-related extreme weather events. The analysis of disaster data involves the challenging task of integrating multiple heterogeneous sources, data ingestion and visualization. This paper aims at providing a three-dimensional analytical view of disaster data as time-series charts and a statistical model to evaluate the correlation between the occurrence of disasters, climate change and the corresponding economic damages (as a percentage of GDP). Therefore, statistical methodologies are leveraged to play important role in managing disasters, from preparation to recovery and reporting. The graphical representations provide insights on regional trends that follow, related to factors such as the proportion of each type of disaster in the various losses incurred. Therefore, obtaining reliable information about the population, the economy and climate are crucial both for risk management and preparedness and for responding to disasters. The research puts forth a detailed statistical methodology with a spatial dimension to study the impacts on the economy and infrastructure in the aftermath of a disaster thereby ensuring specialized assistance. The inference of the analysis confirmed a positive correlation between climate change and occurrence of natural disasters. Therefore, statistical evidence of an important phenomenon like climate change affecting natural disasters brings awareness among the population in the society to be more environmentally responsible.

Bilayer two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW) materials are attracting increasing attention due to their predicted high quality electronic and optical properties. Here we demonstrate dense, selective growth of WSe2 bilayer flakes by chemical vapor deposition with the use of a 1:10 molar mixture of sodium cholate and sodium chloride as the growth promoter to control the local diffusion of W-containing species. A large fraction of the bilayer WSe2 flakes showed a 0 and 60o twist between the two layers, while moire 15 and 30o-twist angles were also observed. Well-defined monolayer-bilayer junctions were formed in the as-grown bilayer WSe2 flakes, and these interfaces exhibited p-n diode rectification and an ambipolar transport characteristic. This work provides an efficient method for the layer-controlled growth of 2D materials, in particular, 2D transition metal dichalcogenides and promotes their applications in next-generation electronic and optoelectronic devices.
