Rotational Freudenthal duality (RFD) relates two extremal Kerr-Newman (KN) black holes (BHs) with different angular momenta and electric-magnetic charges, but with the same Bekenstein-Hawking entropy. Through the Kerr/CFT correspondence (and its KN extension), a four-dimensional, asymptotically flat extremal KN BH is endowed with a dual thermal, two-dimensional conformal field theory (CFT) such that the Cardy entropy of the CFT is the same as the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of the KN BH itself. Using this connection, we study the effect of the RFD on the thermal CFT dual to the KN extremal BH. We find that the RFD maps two different thermal, two-dimensional CFTs with different temperatures and central charges, but with the same asymptotic density of states, thereby matching the Cardy entropy. In an appendix, we discuss the action of the RFD on doubly-extremal rotating BHs, finding a spurious branch in the non-rotating limit, and determining that for this class of BH solutions the image of the RFD necessarily over-rotates.

Combined experiments and computational modelling are used to increase understanding of the suitability of the Single-Edge Notch Tension (SENT) test for assessing hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility. The SENT tests were designed to provide the mode I threshold stress intensity factor ($K_{\text{th}}$) for hydrogen-assisted cracking of a C110 steel in two corrosive environments. These were accompanied by hydrogen permeation experiments to relate the environments to the absorbed hydrogen concentrations. A coupled phase-field-based deformation-diffusion-fracture model is then employed to simulate the SENT tests, predicting $K_{\text{th}}$ in good agreement with the experimental results and providing insights into the hydrogen absorption-diffusion-cracking interactions. The suitability of SENT testing and its optimal characteristics (e.g., test duration) are discussed in terms of the various simultaneous active time-dependent phenomena, triaxiality dependencies, and regimes of hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility.

We review the main applications of machine learning models that are not fully supervised in particle physics, i.e., clustering, anomaly detection, detector simulation, and unfolding. Unsupervised methods are ideal for anomaly detection tasks -- machine learning models can be trained on background data to identify deviations if we model the background data precisely. The learning can also be partially unsupervised when we can provide some information about the anomalies at the data level. Generative models are useful in speeding up detector simulations -- they can mimic the computationally intensive task without large resources. They can also efficiently map detector-level data to parton-level data (i.e., data unfolding). In this review, we focus on interesting ideas and connections and briefly overview the underlying techniques wherever necessary.

We combine welding process modelling with deformation-diffusion-fracture (embrittlement) simulations to predict failures in hydrogen transport pipelines. The focus is on the structural integrity of seam welds, as these are often the locations most susceptible to damage in gas transport infrastructure. Finite element analyses are conducted to showcase the ability of the model to predict cracking in pipeline steels exposed to hydrogen-containing environments. The validated model is then employed to quantify critical H$_2$ fracture pressures. The coupled, phase field-based simulations conducted provide insight into the role of existing defects, microstructural heterogeneity, and residual stresses. We find that under a combination of deleterious yet realistic conditions, the critical pressure at which fracture takes place can be as low as 15 MPa. These results bring new mechanistic insight into the viability of using the existing natural gas pipeline network to transport hydrogen, and the computational framework presented enables map** the conditions under which this can be achieved safely.

Freudenthal duality (FD) is a non-linear symmetry of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of extremal dyonic black holes (BHs) in Maxwell-Einstein-scalar theories in four space-time dimensions realized as an anti-involutive map in the symplectic space of electric-magnetic BH charges. In this paper, we generalize FD to the class of rotating (stationary) extremal BHs, both in the under- and over-rotating regime, defining a (generalized) rotating FD (generally, non-anti-involutive) map (RFD), which also acts on the BH angular momentum. We prove that the RFD map is unique, and we compute the explicit expression of its non-linear action on the angular momentum itself. Interestingly, in the non-rotating limit, RFD bifurcates into the usual, non-rotating FD branch and into a spurious branch, named "golden" branch, map** a non-rotating (static) extremal BH to an under-rotating (stationary) extremal BH, in which the ratio between the angular momentum and the non-rotating entropy is the square root of the golden ratio. Finally, we investigate the possibility of inducing transitions between the under- and over-rotating regimes by means of RFD, obtaining a no-go result.

The scalar-leptoquark (sLQ) parameter space is well explored experimentally. The direct pair production searches at the LHC have excluded light sLQs almost model agnostically, and the high-$p_{\rm T}$ dilepton tail data have put strong bounds on the leptoquark-quark-lepton Yukawa couplings for a wide range of sLQ masses. However, these do not show the complete picture. Previously, Mandal \emph{et al.} [Single productions of colored particles at the LHC: An example with scalar leptoquarks, \href{https://doi.org/10.1007/JHEP07(2015)028}{J. High Energy Phys. 07 (2015) 028}] showed how the dilepton-dijet data from the pair production searches could give strong limits on these couplings. This was possible by including the single-production contribution to the dilepton-dijet signal. In this paper, we take a fresh look at the LHC limits on all sLQs by following the same principle and combine all significant contributions -- from pair and single productions, $t$-channel sLQ exchange and its interference with the Standard Model background -- to the $μμjj$ final state and recast the limits. We notice that the sLQ exchange and its interference with the background processes play significant roles in the limits. The $μμjj$-recast limits are comparable to or, in some cases, significantly better than the currently known limits (from high-$p_{\rm T}$ dilepton data and direct searches), i.e., the LHC data rules out more parameter space than what is considered in the current literature. For the first time, we also show how including the QED processes can noticeably improve the sLQ mass exclusion limits from the QCD-only limits.

Gubser flow provides an analytic model for describing the spacetime dynamics of the quark-gluon plasma produced in heavy-ion collisions. Along with boost and rotation invariance along the beam axis, the model assumes invariance under a combination of translations and special conformal transformations in the transverse plane, leading to a flow profile which evolves not just along the beam axis, but also radially. We argue that Gubser flow and its associated symmetry assumptions arise naturally as a consequence of Carrollian symmetries for a conformal Carroll fluid, thereby providing a dual geometric picture for the flow. Given the inherent ultrarelativistic nature of the flow, this duality with Carroll hydrodynamics - which arises in the $c \to 0$ limit of relativistic hydrodynamics, is natural. We provide a precise map between Gubser flow and the conformal Carroll fluid, appropriate to capture the duality between the two not just at the ideal level, but also with the inclusion of hydrodynamic derivative corrections.

We use holography to compute the exact form of retarded Green's functions for a scalar operator with conformal dimension $Δ$ in a thermal CFT and in its related counterpart with chemical potential in $R^1 \times H^3$. In our analysis, we recast the wave equation of a scalar field in the normal form of Heun's equation in the dual gravity theories described by the AdS hyperbolic blackhole and its charged version. Heun's equation is identified to the semiclassical limit of the BPZ equation for a five-point correlator with one degenerate field insertion in the Liouville theory on the Riemann sphere. The crossing symmetry of conformal block in the Liouville theory eventually gives rise to a set of connection formulas among the solutions of Heun's equation evaluated at different regular singularities. We use the connection formula to reproduce the leading order behaviors of the scalar field near the horizon as well as near the boundary and achieve the exact form of the retarded thermal Green's function. We show a recipe to obtain the exact retarded Green's function for a thermal CFT dual to AdS blackbrane from a high-temperature limit accompanied by a complex map** on AdS hyperbolic blackhole. Moreover, we show the retarded Green's function for the boundary CFT of Rindler AdS spacetime admits a free integer parameter.

We pointed out the interesting possibility of a correlated search for $Z'$ and $N_R$ at the LHC through the $pp\to Z'\to N_R N_R$ channel. This channel can probe a part of the $Z'$ parameter space beyond the reach of the standard dijet resonance searches. In this follow-up paper, we analyse the challenging monolepton final state arising from the decays of the $N_R$ pair with Deep Learning. We present the high-luminosity LHC discovery reaches for six different GUT embeddings and a benchmark point in the GS setup. We also update our previous estimates in the dilepton channel with Deep Learning. Understanding the loss landscape is an important problem in machine learning. One key feature of the loss function, common to many neural network architectures, is the presence of exponentially many low lying local minima. Physical systems with similar energy landscapes may provide useful insights. In this work, we point out that black holes naturally give rise to such landscapes, owing to the existence of black hole entropy. For definiteness, we consider 1/8 BPS black holes in $\mathcal{N} = 8$ string theory. These provide an infinite family of potential landscapes arising in the microscopic descriptions of corresponding black holes. The counting of minima amounts to black hole microstate counting. Moreover, the exact numbers of the minima for these landscapes are a priori known from dualities in string theory. Some of the minima are connected by paths of low loss values, resembling mode connectivity. We estimate the number of runs needed to find all the solutions. Initial explorations suggest that Stochastic Gradient Descent can find a significant fraction of the minima.

The RHNs can be produced copiously from LQ decays as long as they are lighter than the LQs. LQ-induced RHN production has never been searched for in experiments. This channel can act as a simultaneous probe for RHNs and LQs that dominantly couple to RHNs. In this paper, we consider all possible charge-$2/3$ and $1/3$ scalar and vector LQs that dominantly couple to second-generation quarks and RHN. We study the pair and single productions of TeV-scale LQs and their subsequent decay to sub-TeV RHNs, realised in the inverse seesaw framework. We also consider RHN pair production through a $t$-channel LQ exchange. The single LQ production and $t$-channel contributions can be significant for large LQ-RHN-quark couplings. We systematically combine events from these processes leading to a pair of RHNs plus jets to study the prospects of LQ-assisted RHN pair production. We analyse the monolepton and opposite-sign dilepton final states and estimate the discovery reach at the high-luminosity LHC.

We name such a generalization near-extremal Freudenthal duality. Upon such a duality, two near-extremal black holes with two different (and both small) temperatures have the same entropy when their e.m. charges are related by a Freudenthal transformation. Bhardwaj et al., Roadmap to explore vectorlike quarks decaying to a new scalar or pseudoscalar, Phys. Rev. D, 106 (2022) 095014; arXiv:2203.13753], we mapped the possibilities to explore such setups at the LHC. We showed that it is possible for a $B$ quark to decay into $Φ$ and the $Φ$ to dominantly decay to a pair of gluons or $b$ quark(s) without fine-tuning the parameters. In this paper, we present a collider search strategy to look for the pair production of singlet $B$ quarks. If both $B$ quarks decay into $bΦ$ pairs, the final state is fully hadronic: $B{B}\to(bΦ)({b}Φ)\to (bgg)({b}gg)/(bb{b})({b}b{b})$, which is very challenging to probe. Therefore, we consider a simpler mixed decay specific to the singlet $B$ case, $BB\to(bΦ)(tW)$ with a lepton in the final state, to achieve the best sensitivity at the high-luminosity LHC. We use a deep neural network with a weighted cross-entropy loss to separate the signal from the huge SM background. Our analysis shows that large areas of the $M_{B}-M_Φ$ parameter space are discoverable through this signature. We show how the discovery and exclusion regions scale with the branching ratio in the new decay mode. We also estimate the reach in the inclusive monolepton channel with the same network model.

We discuss two different approaches to synthesise holographic non-relativistic fluid from its relativistic counterpart. In the first approach we obtain the non-relativistic fluid by light-cone reduction of a relativistic conformal fluid. In the second approach we consider the bulk dual of the relativistic fluid, uplift the solution to 10 dimensions and perform TsT transformations on the bulk solution to change the asymptotic structure. Reducing the TsT transformed geometry over $S^5$ we find an effective 5 dimensional locally boosted solution. We then use the bulk-boundary dictionary to compute the non-relativistic constitutive relations. We show that the non-relativistic fluids obtained by these two methods are equivalent up to second order in derivative expansion. Our results also provide explicit expressions for different constitutive relations and transports of holographic $U(1)$ charged non-relativistic fluids (both parity odd and even) up to second order in derivative expansion.

We investigate a $\mathrm{SO}(10)$ grand unification scenario where the complex 10-dimensional scalar multiplet, containing the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson, resides at the TeV scale altogether. The resulting low-energy model is a 2-Higgs-doublet model augmented with two $S_1$-type leptoquarks. The gauge-coupling unification is achieved with only one intermediate scale at which the Pati-Salam gauge group is broken down to the SM. A $U(1)_{\mathrm{PQ}}$ global symmetry is also introduced, with the corresponding axion providing a solution to the strong CP problem while also being an important dark matter candidate. The proton-destabilising couplings of the light leptoquarks are forbidden by a discrete symmetry. We discuss how the simultaneous explanation for the $R_{D^{(*)}}$ and $a_μ$ anomalies comes about in the model, and investigate its phenomenological implications.

Quantum complexity of CFT states can be computed holographically from the dual gravitational solutions. In this paper, we have studied the late time growth of holographic complexity of a charged black hole in five-dimensional, Anti-de Sitter spacetime in the presence of quartic derivative interaction terms using the Complexity = Action conjecture. These interaction terms in the gravitational action can lead to the violation of Llyod's bound. The dual CFT is known to admit a hydrodynamic description where the KSS bound is also violated due to the presence of higher derivative terms in the bulk action. The origin of terms which violate both the bounds are the same for the gravitational action of consideration. We have also discussed the late time complexity growth rate of the Jackiw-Teitelboim (JT) model with higher derivative corrections.

These anomalies might be intertwined at a fundamental level and have a single new-physics explanation. In this paper, we present a simultaneous solution to these anomalies with two scalar leptoquarks of roughly equal mass -- one weak-singlet $S_1$ and the other a weak-triplet $S_3$ -- which mix through a Higgs portal. The solution has only a few new couplings and TeV-scale leptoquarks, making the solution testable at the LHC. We put a lower and upper bound on the leptoquark masses in this setup from the current LHC data and the assumption that all new couplings are within the perturbative limit.

The possibility of a vectorlike top partner decaying to a new colourless weak-singlet scalar or pseudoscalar has attracted some attention in the literature. We investigate the production of a weak-singlet charge-$2/3$ $T$ quark that can decay to a spinless boson ($Φ$) and a top quark at the LHC. Earlier, in 2203.13753, we have shown that in a large part of the parameter space, the $T\to tΦ$ and the loop-induced $Φ\to gg$ decays become the dominant decay modes for these particles. Here, we investigate the discovery prospects of the $T$ quark in this region through the above decays. In particular, we focus on the $pp\to TT\to (tΦ)(tΦ)\to (t(gg))\,(t(gg))$ channel. Separating this signal from the huge Standard Model background is a challenging task, forcing us to employ a multivariate machine-learning technique. We find that the above channel can be a discovery channel of the top partner in the large part of the parameter space where the above decay chain dominates. Our analysis is largely model-independent, and hence our results would be useful in a broad class of new physics models.

The $U(1)$ extensions of the Standard Model contain a heavy neutral gauge boson $Z^\prime$. If leptophobic, the boson can evade the stringent bounds from the dilepton resonance searches. We consider two theoretically well-motivated examples of leptophobic $U(1)$ extensions in which the $Z'$ decays to right-handed neutrinos (RHNs) with substantial branchings. The coexistence of a leptophobic $Z^\prime$ and the RHNs opens up a new possibility of searching for these particles simultaneously through the production of a $Z^\prime$ at the LHC and its decay to a RHN pair. For this decay to occur, the RHNs need to be lighter than the $Z^\prime$. Hence, we study this process in an inverse seesaw setup where the RHNs can be in the TeV range. However, in this case, they have a pseudo-Dirac nature, i.e., a RHN pair would produce only opposite-sign lepton pairs, as opposed to the Majorana-type neutrinos, which can produce both same- and opposite-sign lepton pairs. Hence, the final state we study has a same-flavour opposite-sign lepton pair plus hadronically-decaying boosted $W$ bosons. Our analysis shows that the high luminosity LHC can discover a TeV-scale leptophobic $Z^\prime$ decaying via a RHN pair in a wide range of available parameters. Interestingly, large parameter regions beyond the reach of future dijet-resonance searches can be probed exclusively through our channel.

The current experimental data allow for a sub-TeV colourless weak-singlet scalar or pseudoscalar. If such a singlet field is present together with TeV-range vectorlike top and bottom partners, there is a possibility that the heavy quarks decay dominantly to the singlet state and a third-generation quark, and the singlet state decays to quark and boson pairs. Such a possibility may arise in various models but it has not been explored experimentally, especially in the context of vectorlike-quark searches. We consider some minimal models, covering the possible weak representations of the top and bottom partners, that can be mapped to many well-motivated ultraviolet-complete theories. We chart out the possible interesting and unexplored signatures of the exotic decay of vectorlike quarks and identify benchmark points representing different signal topologies for the high luminosity LHC. We perform a general scan of the parameter space with the relevant direct search bounds and find that large regions, which do not require any fine-tuning, remain open for the unexplored channels. We also perform a simple projection study in the cleanest channel and indicate how other new but experimentally challenging channels can be used to probe more regions of the parameter space.

Freudenthal duality (F-duality), an anti-involution of charge vectors keep the entropy and attractor solutions invariant for an extremal supersymmetric black hole. In this paper, we analyze the effect of F-duality on the entropy of a near-extremal $STU$ black hole in $\mathcal{N}=2$ ungauged, four-dimensional supergravity. We consider double-extremal black holes, whose attractor solutions are fixed in terms of the black hole charges throughout the moduli space. It is well known that JT gravity governs the dynamics of the near-horizon regions of higher dimensional, near-extremal black holes. Owing to this fact, we reduce the four-dimensional supergravity theory to two dimensions to construct a Jackiw-Teitelboim (JT) gravity like model and compute the near-extremal entropy. We then analyze the effect of F-duality on this entropy. We show that the F-duality breaks down for the case of near-extremal solutions if one considers the duality operation generated through near-extremal entropy rather than the extremal one.

Two derivative Jackiw Teitelboim gravity theory captures the near horizon dynamics of higher dimensional near extremal black holes, which is governed by a Schwarzian action at the boundary in the near horizon region. The partition function corresponding to this boundary action correctly gives the statistical entropy of the near extremal black hole. In this paper, we study the thermodynamics of spherically symmetric four dimensional near extremal black holes in presence of arbitrary perturbative four derivative corrections. We find that the near horizon dynamics is again captured by a JT like action with a particular namely square of Ricci scalar higher derivative modification. Effectively the theory is described by a boundary Schwarzian action which gets suitably modified due to the presence of the higher derivative interactions. Near extremal entropy, free energy also get corrected accordingly.

If the neutrino masses are generated through the standard type-I seesaw mechanism, the Yukawa couplings controlling two-body decays of the RHN become very small. As a result, the RHN decays to another lepton and a pair of jets via an off-shell $W'$. This is the basis of the Keung-Senjanović (KS) process, which was originally proposed as a probe of lepton number violation at the LHC. However, if a different mechanism like the inverse seesaw generates the neutrino masses, a TeV-scale RHN can have large Yukawa couplings and hence dominantly decay to a lepton and a $W$ boson, leading to a kinematically different process from the KS one. We investigate the prospect of this unexplored process as a probe of the inverse seesaw mechanism in the left-right symmetric models at the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC). Our signal arises from the Drell-Yan production of a $W'$ and leads to two high-$p_T$ same-flavour-opposite-sign leptons and a boosted $W$-like fatjet in the final state. We find that a sequential $W'$ with mass up to $\sim 6$~TeV along with a TeV-scale RHN can be discovered at the HL-LHC.

We investigate the cases of all TeV-scale scalar and vector LQs that decay to either a top-tau pair (charge-$1/3$ and $5/3$ LQs) or a top-neutrino pair (charge-$2/3$ LQs). One can then use the boosted top (which can be tagged efficiently using jet-substructure techniques) and high-$p_{\rm T}$ $τ$ leptons to search for these LQs. We consider two search channels with either one or two taus along with at least one hadronically decaying boosted top quark. We estimate the high luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) search prospects of these LQs by considering both symmetric and asymmetric pair and single production processes. Our selection criteria are optimised to retain events from both pair and single production processes. The combined signal has better prospects than the traditional searches. We include new three-body single production processes to enhance the single production contributions to the combined signal. We identify the interference effect that appears in the dominant single production channel of charge-$1/3$ scalar LQ ($S^{1/3}$). This interference is constructive if $S^{1/3}$ is weak-triplet and destructive, for a singlet one. As a result, their LHC prospects differ appreciably.

We explore an anomaly-free ${\textrm U}(1)$ gauge extended beyond the Standard model (BSM) framework, to account for the baryon asymmetry of the Universe, along with arranging for tiny neutrino mass. Neutrino masses are generated via higher-dimensional operators (HDOs) involving three right-handed neutrinos (RHNs) with gauge charges ($4$, $4$ and $-5$ respectively) and two BSM scalars. This is an attractive framework as it can accommodate a keV scale dark matter, with the lightest RHN being the candidate. The remaining two RHNs are quasi-degenerate at the TeV-scale, actively participating in the process of resonant leptogenesis through their decay governed by the same set of HDOs. The RHNs being at the TeV scale, make this framework relevant for studying flavored resonant leptogenesis. This TeV-scale resonant leptogenesis, after satisfying the neutrino oscillation data, leads to interesting predictions on the Yukawa sector of the model HDOs. The thermal evolution of the baryon asymmetry has followed the experimental results rather accurately in that corner of parameter space. As a matter of fact, this TeV-scale framework which in principle relies on the low scale resonant leptogenesis typically leads to predictions that potentially can be tested at the colliders. In particular, we consider the same-sign dilepton signature that arises from the RHN pair production through the decay of heavy gauge boson of the extra ${\textrm U}(1)$.

For this purpose, we consider both resonant (pair and single productions) and non-resonant ($t$-channel LQ exchange) productions of these LQs at the LHC. For the limits, the most dominant contribution comes from the (destructive) interference of the non-resonant production with Standard Model backgrounds. The combined contribution from the pair and inclusive single production processes is less prominent but non-negligible. The limits we get are independent and competitive to other known bounds. Industry is moving towards large-scale systems where processor cores, memories, accelerators, etc.\ are bundled via 2.5D integration. These various components are fabricated separately as chiplets and then integrated using an interconnect carrier, a so-called interposer. This new design style provides benefits in terms of yield as well as economies of scale, as chiplets may come from various third-party vendors, and be integrated into one sophisticated system. The benefits of this approach, however, come at the cost of new challenges for the system's security and integrity when many third-party component chiplets, some from not fully trusted vendors, are integrated.
Here, we explore these challenges, but also promises, for modern interposer-based systems of cache-coherent, multi-core chiplets. First, we introduce a new, coherence-based attack, GETXspy, wherein a single compromised chiplet can expose a high-bandwidth side/covert-channel in an ostensibly secure system. We further show that prior art is insufficient to stop this new attack. Second, we propose using an active interposer as generic, secure-by-construction platform that forms a physical root of trust for modern 2.5D systems. Our scheme has limited overhead, restricted to the active interposer, allowing the chiplets and the coherence system to remain untouched. We show that our scheme prevents a wide range of attacks, including but not limited to our GETXspy attack, with little overhead on system performance, $\sim$4\%. This overhead reduces as workloads increase, ensuring scalability of the scheme.

The $U_1$ leptoquark is known to be a suitable candidate for explaining the semileptonic $B$-decay anomalies. We derive precise limits on its parameter space relevant for the anomalies from the current LHC high-$p_{\rm T}$ dilepton data. We consider an exhaustive list of possible $B$-anomalies-motivated simple scenarios with one or two new couplings that can also be used as templates for obtaining bounds on more complicated scenarios. To obtain precise limits, we systematically consider all possible $U_1$ production processes that can contribute to the dilepton searches, including the resonant pair and single productions, nonresonant $t$-channel $U_1$ exchange, as well as its large interference with the Standard Model background. We demonstrate how the inclusion of resonant production contributions in the dilepton signal can lead to appreciably improved exclusion limits. We point out new search channels of $U_1$ that can act as unique tests of the flavour-motivated models. The template scenarios can also be used for future $U_1$ searches at the LHC. We compare the LHC limits with other relevant flavour bounds and find that a TeV-scale $U_1$ can accommodate both $R_{D^{(*)}}$ and $R_{K^{(*)}}$ anomalies while satisfying all the bounds.

In this article, we study the variation of the parity of the multiplicities of $σ$ in the representation space associated to the $p^\infty$-Selmer group of $E_i$ over $K$. We also compare the root numbers for the twist of $E_i/F$ by $σ$ and show that the $p$-parity conjecture holds for the twist of $E_1/F$ by $σ$ if and only if it holds for the twist of $E_2/F$ by $σ$. We also express Mazur-Rubin-Nekovář's arithmetic local constants in terms of certain local Iwasawa invariants.

At the LHC, a TeV-scale leptoquark (LQ) that decays dominantly to a top quark ($t$) and a light charged lepton ($\ell=e,μ$) would form a resonance system of \emph{boosted-$t$ $+$ high-$p_{\rm T}$-$\ell$}. We consider all possible vector LQ models within the Buchmüller-Rückl-Wyler classifications with the desired decay. We propose simple phenomenological Lagrangians that are suitable for bottom-up/experimental studies and, at the same time, can cover the relevant parameter spaces of these models. In this simplified framework, we study the pair and single production channels of vector LQs at the LHC. Interestingly, we find that, like the pair production, the cross sections of some single production processes also depend on the parameter $κ$ that appears in the gluon-vector LQ coupling. We adopt a search strategy of selecting events with at least one boosted hadronic top quark and exactly two high-$p_{\rm T}$ leptons of the same flavor and opposite sign. This combines events from the pair and single production processes and, therefore, can enhance the discovery potential beyond that of the pair-production-only searches. For $5σ$ discovery we find that vector LQs can be probed up to $2.55$ TeV for $100\%$ branching ratio in the $t\ell $ decay mode and $\mathcal{O}(1)$ new couplings at the $14$ TeV LHC with $3$ ab$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity.

We consider an anomaly-free $\mathrm{U}(1)$ extension of the Standard Model with three right-handed neutrinos (RHNs) and two complex scalars, wherein the charge assignments preclude all tree-level mass terms for the neutrinos. Considering this setup, in turn, to be only a low-energy effective theory, we introduce higher-dimensional terms {\em a la} Froggatt-Nielsen to naturally generate tiny neutrino masses. One of the RHNs turns out to be very light, thereby constituting the main decay mode for the $Z'$ and hence relaxing the LHC dilepton resonance search constraints. This very RHN has a lifetime comparable to or bigger than the age of the Universe, and, hence, could account for a non-negligible fraction of the dark matter.

We introduce simple phenomenological models suitable for bottom-up studies and explicitly map them to all possible scalar leptoquark models within the Buchmüller-Rückl-Wyler classifications that can have the desired decays. We study pair and single productions of these leptoquarks. Contrary to the common perception, we find that the single production of top-philic leptoquarks $φ= \{φ_1,φ_5\}$ in association with a lepton and jets could be significant for order one $φt\ell$ coupling in certain scenarios. We propose a strategy of selecting events with at least one hadronic-top and two high-$p_{\rm T}$ same flavour opposite sign leptons. This captures events from both pair and single productions. Our strategy can significantly enhance the LHC discovery potential especially in the high-mass region where single productions become more prominent. Our estimation shows that a scalar leptoquark as heavy as $\sim1.7$ TeV can be discovered at the $14$ TeV LHC with 3 ab$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity in the $t\ell\ell+X$ channel for $100\%$ branching ratio in the $φ\to t\ell $ decay mode. However, in some scenarios, the discovery reach can increase beyond $2$ TeV even though the branching ratio comes down to about $50\%$.

We explore the phenomenology of models containing one Vector-Like Quark (VLQ), $t'$, which can decay into the Standard Model (SM) top quark, $t$, and a new spin-0 neutral boson, $S$, the latter being either a scalar or pseudoscalar state. We parametrise the underlying interactions in terms of a simplified model which enables us to capture possible Beyond the SM (BSM) scenarios. We discuss in particular three such scenarios: one where the SM state is supplemented by an additional scalar, one which builds upon a 2-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) framework and another which realises a Composite Higgs Model (CHM) through partial compositeness. Such exotic decays of the $t'$ can be competitive with decays into SM particles, leading to new possible discovery channels at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Assuming $t'$ pair production via strong interactions, we design signal regions optimised for one $t'\rightarrow S t$ transition (while being inclusive on the other \bar{t'} decay, and vice versa), followed by the decay of $S$ into the two very clean experimental signatures $S\rightarrow γγ$ and $S\rightarrow Z(\rightarrow \ell^+\ell^-)γ$. We perform a dedicated signal-to-background analysis in both channels, by using Monte Carlo (MC) event simulations modelling the dynamics from the proton-proton to the detector level. Under the assumption of BR$(t' \rightarrow S t) = 100\%$, we are therefore able to realistically quantify the sensitivity of the LHC to both the $t'$ and $S$ masses, assuming both current and foreseen luminosities. This approach paves the way for the LHC experiments to surpass current VLQ search strategies based solely on $t'$ decays into SM bosons ($W^\pm, Z$, $h$).

In this paper we investigate a natural extension of the Standard Model that involves varying coupling constants. This is a general expectation in any fundamental theory such as string theory, and there are good reasons for why new physics could appear at reachable energy scales. We investigate the collider phenomenology of models with varying gauge couplings where the variations are associated with real singlet scalar fields. We introduce three different heavy scalar fields that are responsible for the variations of the three gauge couplings of the Standard Model. This gives rise to many interesting collider signatures that we explore, resulting in exclusion limits based on the most recent LHC data, and predictions of the future discovery potential at the high-luminosity LHC.

We explore the challenging but phenomenologically interesting hierarchical mass spectrum of the Inert Doublet Model where relatively light dark matter along with much heavier scalar states can fully satisfy the constraints on the relic abundance and also fulfill other theoretical as well as collider and astrophysical bounds. To probe this region of parameter space at the LHC, we propose a signal process that combines up to two large radius boosted jets along with substantial missing transverse momentum. Aided by our intuitive signal selection, we capture a hybrid process where the di-fatjet signal is significantly enhanced by the mono-fatjet contribution with minimal effects on the SM di-fatjet background. Substantiated by the sizable mass difference between the scalars, these boosted jets, originally produced from the hadronic decay of massive vector bosons, still carry the inherent footprint of their root. These features implanted inside the jet substructure can provide additional handles to deal with a large background involving QCD jets. We adopt a multivariate analysis using boosted decision tree to provide a robust mechanism to explore the hierarchical scenario, which would bring almost the entire available parameter space well within reach of the 14 TeV LHC runs with high luminosity.

Static electric response properties of atoms and molecules are reported within the real-space Cartesian grid implementation of pseudopotential Kohn-Sham (KS) density functional theory (DFT). A detailed systematic investigation is made for a representative set of atoms and molecules, through a number of properties like total ground-state electronic energies, permanent dipole moment ($\bmμ$), static average dipole polarizability ($\overlineα$). This is further extended to first-hyperpolarizability ($\bmβ$) in molecules. It employs a recently developed non-uniform grid-optimization technique, with a suitably chosen fixed initial applied field. A simple variant of the finite-field method, using a rational function fit to the dipole moment with respect to electric field, is adopted. We make use of Labello-Ferreira-Kurtz (LFK) basis set, which has performed quite well in these scenarios. To assess the efficacy and feasibility, four XC functionals such as LDA, BLYP, PBE and LBVWN are chosen. Present results are compared with available literature (both theoretical and experimental) values, whenever possible. In all instances, they show excellent agreement with the respective atom-centered-grid results, very widely used in many quantum chemistry programs. This demonstrates a viable alternative towards accurate prediction of response properties of many-electron systems in Cartesian coordinate grid.

The electronic energy, dipole moment ({\boldmath$μ$}), static dipole polarizability ({\boldmath$α$}) and first-hyperpolarizability ({\boldmath$β$}) are calculated through a pseudopotential-DFT implementation in Cartesian coordinate grid, developed in our laboratory earlier. We engage the Labello-Ferreira-Kurtz (LFK) basis set; while four local and non-local exchange-correlation (LDA, BLYP, PBE and LBVWN) functionals have been adopted. A detailed analysis of \emph{grid convergence} and its impact on obtained results, is presented. In each case the \emph{electric field optimization} was carefully monitored through a recently prescribed technique. For all three molecules (HCl, HBr, HI) considered, the agreement of all these quantities with widely successful and popular atom-centered-grid procedure, is excellent. To assess the efficacy and feasibility, companion calculations are performed for these on a representative molecule (HCl) at distorted geometries, far from equilibrium. Wherever possible, relevant comparison is made with available \emph{all-electron} data and experimental results. This demonstrates that Cartesian grid provides accurate, reliable results for such properties of many-electron systems within pseudopotential representation.

We find the membrane equations which describe the leading order in $1/D$ dynamics of black holes in the $D\rightarrow\infty$ limit for the most general four-derivative theory of gravity in the presence of a cosmological constant. We work up to linear order in the parameter determining the strength of the four-derivative corrections to the gravity action and hence there are no ghost modes in the theory. We find that the effective membrane equations we obtain are the covariant version of the membrane equations in absence of the cosmological constant. We also find the world-volume stress tensor for the membrane whose conservation gives the membrane equations. We apply the membrane equations to predict the light quasi-normal mode spectrum of black holes and black branes in the theory of gravity under consideration.

Motivated by the $R_{D^{(*)}}$ anomalies, we investigate an $\mathrm{SO}(10)$ grand unification scenario where a charge $-1/3$ scalar leptoquark ($S_1$) remains as the only new physics candidate at the TeV scale. This leptoquark along with the Standard Model (SM) Higgs doublet originates from the same 10-dimensional real scalar multiplet in the $\mathrm{SO}(10)$ grand unification framework taking its mass close to the electroweak scale. We explicitly show how the gauge coupling unification is achieved with only one intermediate symmetry-breaking scale at which the Pati-Salam gauge group is broken into the SM group. We investigate the phenomenological implications of our scenario and show that an $S_1$ with a specific Yukawa texture can explain the $R_{D^{(*)}}$ anomalies. We perform a multiparameter scan considering the relevant flavour constraints on $R_{D^{(*)}}$, $F_L{(D^*)}$, $P_τ(D^*)$ and $R_{K^{(*)}}^{νν}$ as well as the constraint coming from the $Z\toττ$ decay and the latest $ττ$ resonance search data at the LHC. Our analysis shows that a single leptoquark solution to the observed $R_{D^{(*)}}$ anomalies with $S_1$ is still a viable solution.

We present a purely numerical approach in Cartesian grid, for efficient computation of Hartree-Fock (HF) exchange contribution in the HF and density functional theory models. This takes inspiration from a recently developed algorithm [Liu \emph{et al.}, J.~Chem.~Theor.~Comput.~ \textbf{13}, 2571 (2017)]. A key component is the accurate evaluation of electrostatic potential integral, which is the rate-determining step. This introduces the Fourier convolution theorem in conjunction with a range-separated Coulomb interaction kernel. The latter is efficiently mapped into real grid through a simple optimization procedure, giving rise to a constraint in the range-separated parameter. The overall process offers logarithmic scaling with respect to molecular size. It is then extended towards global hybrid functionals such as B3LYP, PBE0 and BHLYP within pseudopotential Kohn-Sham theory, through an LCAO-MO ansatz in Cartesian grid, developed earlier in our laboratory. For sake of comparison, a parallel semi-numerical approach has also been worked out that exploits the familiar Obara-Saika recursion algorithm. An excellent agreement between these two routes is demonstrated through total energy and orbital energy in a series of atoms and molecules (including 10 $π$-electron molecules), employing an LANL2DZ-type basis function. A critical analysis of these two algorithms reveals that the proposed numerical scheme could lead to very attractive and competitive scaling. The success of our approach also enables us for further development of optimally tuned range-separated hybrid and hyper functionals.

Till date, GCI for pathological disorder is extracted from laryngeal (glottal source) signal recorded from Electroglottograph, a dedicated device designed to measure the vocal folds vibration around the larynx. We have created a pathological dataset which consists of simultaneous recordings of glottal source and acoustic speech signal of six different disorders from vocal disordered patients. The GCI locations are manually annotated for disorder analysis and supervised learning. We have proposed convolutional neural network based GCI detection method by fusing deep acoustic speech and linear prediction residual features for robust GCI detection.
