The coherent reaction, $γd \rightarrow π^0ηd$ was studied with the BGOOD experiment at ELSA from threshold to a centre-of-mass energy of 3200\,MeV. A full kinematic reconstruction was made, with final state deuterons identified in the forward spectrometer and $π^0$ and $η$ decays in the central BGO Rugby Ball. The strength of the differential cross section exceeds what can be described by models of coherent photoproduction at forward angles by orders of magnitude. The distribution of the differential cross section has an excellent agreement with a model including quasi-free $Δπ$ photoproduction, pion re-scattering and $N(1535)$ formation and subsequent nucleon coalescence to the deuteron. This also gives a reasonable description of the two-body invariant mass distributions and naturally explains the similar magnitudes of this channel and $π^0π^0 d$ coherent photoproduction.

The interaction of a high-current $O$(100~\textmu A), medium energy $O$(10\,GeV) electron beam with a thick target $O$(1m) produces an overwhelming shower of standard matter particles in addition to hypothetical Light Dark Matter particles. While most of the radiation (gamma, electron/positron, and neutron) is contained in the thick target, deep penetrating particles (muons, neutrinos, and light dark matter particles) propagate over a long distance, producing high-intense secondary beams. Using sophisticated Monte Carlo simulations based on FLUKA and GEANT4, we explored the characteristics of secondary muons and neutrinos and (hypothetical) dark scalar particles produced by the interaction of Jefferson Lab 11 GeV intense electron beam with the experimental Hall-A beam dump. Considering the possible beam energy upgrade, this study was repeated for a 20 GeV CEBAF beam.

The Extreme Energy Events (EEE) Collaboration is fully involved in an ecological transition. The use of the standard gas mixture, \ce{C_{2}H_{2}F_{4}}+ \ce{SF_{6}}, has stopped in favor of an alternative green mixture based on \ce{C_{3}H_{2}F_{4}} with the addition of He or \ce{CO_{2}}. The choise of these new mixtures is motivated by the significant lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) to reduce the emission of gases potentially contributing to the greenhouse effect. The EEE experiment consists of 61 muon telescopes based on Multigap Resistive Plate Chambers (MRPCs), each telescope composed of 3 chambers filled with gas. Several EEE detectors are today completely fluxed with the new ecological mixture. This contribution will report recent results about the telescope performance obtained from studies with the eco-friendly alternative mixture carried out in the last years.

This document presents the initial scientific case for upgrading the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) at Jefferson Lab (JLab) to 22 GeV. It is the result of a community effort, incorporating insights from a series of workshops conducted between March 2022 and April 2023. With a track record of over 25 years in delivering the world's most intense and precise multi-GeV electron beams, CEBAF's potential for a higher energy upgrade presents a unique opportunity for an innovative nuclear physics program, which seamlessly integrates a rich historical background with a promising future. The proposed physics program encompass a diverse range of investigations centered around the nonperturbative dynamics inherent in hadron structure and the exploration of strongly interacting systems. It builds upon the exceptional capabilities of CEBAF in high-luminosity operations, the availability of existing or planned Hall equipment, and recent advancements in accelerator technology. The proposed program cover various scientific topics, including Hadron Spectroscopy, Partonic Structure and Spin, Hadronization and Transverse Momentum, Spatial Structure, Mechanical Properties, Form Factors and Emergent Hadron Mass, Hadron-Quark Transition, and Nuclear Dynamics at Extreme Conditions, as well as QCD Confinement and Fundamental Symmetries. Each topic highlights the key measurements achievable at a 22 GeV CEBAF accelerator. Furthermore, this document outlines the significant physics outcomes and unique aspects of these programs that distinguish them from other existing or planned facilities. In summary, this document provides an exciting rationale for the energy upgrade of CEBAF to 22 GeV, outlining the transformative scientific potential that lies within reach, and the remarkable opportunities it offers for advancing our understanding of hadron physics and related fundamental phenomena.

Tests of the T, CP and CPT symmetries in the neutral kaon system are performed by the direct comparison of the probabilities of a kaon transition process to its symmetry-conjugate. The exchange of in and out states required for a genuine test involving an anti-unitary transformation implied by time-reversal is implemented exploiting the entanglement of $K^0\bar{K}{}^0$ pairs produced at a $φ$-factory. A data sample collected by the KLOE experiment at DA$Φ$NE corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 1.7 fb$^{-1}$ is analysed to study the $Δ$t distributions of the $φ\to K_{S}K_{L}\to π^+π^- \: π^{\pm}e^{\mp}ν$ and $φ\to K_{S}K_{L}\to π^{\pm}e^{\mp}ν\: 3π^0$ processes, with $Δ$t the difference of the kaon decay times. A comparison of the measured $Δ$t distributions in the asymptotic region $Δt \gg τ_{S}$ allows to test for the first time T and CPT symmetries in kaon transitions with a precision of few percent, and to observe CP violation with this novel method.

Signal decays are selected by a boosted decision tree built with kinematic variables and time-of-flight measurements. Data control samples of $K_L \to πe ν$ decays are used to evaluate signal selection efficiencies. A fit to the reconstructed electron mass distribution finds 49647$\pm$316 signal events. Normalising to the $K_S \to π^+π^-$ decay events the result for the branching fraction is $\mathcal{B}(K_S \to πe ν) = (7.211 \pm 0.046_{\rm stat} \pm 0.052_{\rm syst}) \times10^{-4}$. The combination with our previous measurement gives $\mathcal{B}(K_S \to πe ν) = (7.153 \pm 0.037_{\rm stat} \pm 0.043_{\rm syst}) \times10^{-4}$. From this value we derive $f_+(0)|V_{us}| = 0.2170 \pm 0.009$.

A full kinematic reconstruction was made, with final state deuterons identified in the forward spectrometer and $π^0$ decays in the central BGO Rugby Ball. The strength of the differential cross section exceeds what can be described by models of coherent photoproduction and instead supports the three isoscalar dibaryon candidates reported by the ELPH collaboration at 2.38, 2.47 and 2.63\,GeV/c$^2$. A low mass enhancement in the $π^0π^0$ invariant mass is also observed at the $d^*(2380)$ centre-of-mass energy which is consistent with the ABC effect. At higher centre-of-mass energies, a narrow peak in the $π^0 d$ invariant mass at 2114\,MeV/c$^2$ with a width of 20\,MeV/c$^2$ supports a sequential two-dibaryon decay mechanism.

The quantum interference between the decays of entangled neutral kaons is studied in the process $φ\rightarrow K_S K_L \rightarrowπ^+π^-π^+π^-$, which exhibits the characteristic Einstein--Podolsky--Rosen correlations that prevent both kaons to decay into $π^+π^-$ at the same time. This constitutes a very powerful tool for testing at the utmost precision the quantum coherence of the entangled kaon pair state, and to search for tiny decoherence and CPT violation effects, which may be justified in a quantum gravity framework. The analysed data sample was collected with the KLOE detector at DA$Φ$NE, the Frascati $φ$-factory, and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of about 1.7 fb$^{-1}$, i.e. to about $1.7 \times 10^9$ $φ\rightarrow K_S K_L$ decays produced. From the fit of the observed $Δt$ distribution, being $Δt$ the difference of the kaon decay times, the decoherence and CPT violation parameters of various phenomenological models are measured with a largely improved accuracy with respect to previous analyses. The results are consistent with no deviation from quantum mechanics and CPT symmetry, while for some parameters the precision reaches the interesting level at which -- in the most optimistic scenarios -- quantum gravity effects might show up. They provide the most stringent limits up to date on the considered models.

$K^+Λ(1405)$ photoproduction has been studied at the BGOOD experiment via the all neutral decay, $Λ(1405)\rightarrowΣ^0π^0$. The unique BGOOD experimental setup allows both the cross section and $Λ(1405)$ invariant mass distribution (line shape) to be measured over a broad $K^+$ polar angle range, extending to extreme forward $K^+$ angles unattainable at previous experiments.
Evidence is provided for the role of a triangle singularity driven by the $N^*(2030)$ resonance, which appears to contribute significantly to $K^+Λ(1405)$ photoproduction. This is observed in both the angular distributions and the integrated cross section which was determined with unprecedented energy resolution. The measured line shape is also in agreement with the previous results of CLAS and ANKE, and is consistent with two poles derived in $χ$PT based models.

A novel approach for designing the next generation of vertex detectors foresees to employ wafer-scale sensors that can be bent to truly cylindrical geometries after thinning them to thicknesses of 20-40$μ$m. To solidify this concept, the feasibility of operating bent MAPS was demonstrated using 1.5$\times$3cm ALPIDE chips. Already with their thickness of 50$μ$m, they can be successfully bent to radii of about 2cm without any signs of mechanical or electrical damage. During a subsequent characterisation using a 5.4GeV electron beam, it was further confirmed that they preserve their full electrical functionality as well as particle detection performance.
In this article, the bending procedure and the setup used for characterisation are detailed. Furthermore, the analysis of the beam test, including the measurement of the detection efficiency as a function of beam position and local inclination angle, is discussed. The results show that the sensors maintain their excellent performance after bending to radii of 2cm, with detection efficiencies above 99.9% at typical operating conditions, paving the way towards a new class of detectors with unprecedented low material budget and ideal geometrical properties.

The response of a single MRPC and the combination of three chambers have been implemented in a GEANT4-based framework (GEMC) to study the telescope response. The detector geometry, as well as details about the surrounding materials and the location of the telescopes have been included in the simulations in order to realistically reproduce the experimental set-up of each telescope. A model based on the latest parametrization of the cosmic muon flux has been used to generate single muon events. After validating the framework by comparing simulations to selected EEE telescope data, it has been used to determine detector parameters not accessible by analysing experimental data only, such as detection efficiency, angular and spatial resolution.

The BGO-OD experiment at the University of Bonn's ELSA accelerator facility in Germany is ideally suited to investigate photoproduction at extreme forward angles. It combines a highly segmented BGO electromagnetic calorimeter at central angles and an open dipole magnetic spectrometer in the forward direction. This allows the detection of forward going kaons, and complex final states of mixed charge from hyperon decays. Current projects at the BGO-OD experiment include strangeness production of $γp \rightarrow K^+ Λ/Σ^0$ at forward angles, $K^0Σ^0$ with a deuteron target and $K^+Λ(1405)$ line shape and cross section measurements.

The $Λ(1405)$ can be produced in the reaction $γp \rightarrow K^+Λ(1405)$. The pure I=0 decay mode into $Σ^0π^0$ is prohibited for the mass-overlap** $Σ(1385)$. Combining a large aperture forward magnetic spectrometer and a central BGO crystal calorimeter, the BGO-OD experiment is ideally suited to measure this decay with the $K^+$ in the forward direction. Preliminary results are presented.

The BGO-OD experiment at the ELSA accelerator facility uses an energy tagged bremsstrahlung photon beam to investigate the excitation structure of the nucleon. The setup consists of a highly segmented BGO calorimeter surrounding the target, with a particle tracking magnetic spectrometer at forward angles.
BGO-OD is ideal for investigating low momentum transfer processes due to the acceptance and high momentum resolution at forward angles. In particular, this enables the investigation of strangeness photoproduction where t-channel exchange mechanisms play an important role. This also allows access to low momentum exchange kinematics where extended, molecular structure may manifest in reaction mechanisms.
First key results at low $t$ indicate a cusp-like structure in $K^+Σ^0$ photoproduction at $W = 1900$\,MeV, line shapes and differential cross sections for $K^+Λ$(1405)$\rightarrow K^+Σ^0π^0$, and a peak structure in $K^0_SΣ^0$ photoproduction. The peak in the $K^0_SΣ^0$ channel appears consistent with meson-baryon generated states, where equivalent models have been used to describe the $P_C$ pentaquark candidates in the heavy charmed quark sector.

The Extreme Energy Events (EEE) Project employs Multi-gap Resistive Plate Chamber (MRPC) for studying the secondary cosmic ray muons in Extensive Air Showers. The array consists of about 60 tracking detectors, sparse on Italian territory and at CERN. The MRPCs are flowed with a gas mixture based on $C_2H_2F_4$ and $SF_6$, both of which are fluorinated greenhouse gases with a high environmental impact on the atmosphere. Due to the restrictions imposed by the European Union, these gases are being phased out of production and their cost is largely increasing. The EEE Collaboration started a campaign to reduce the gas emission from its array with the aim of containing costs and decreasing the experiment global warming impact. One method is to reduce the gas rate in each EEE detector. Another is to develop a gas recirculation system, whose a first prototype has been installed at one of the EEE stations located at CERN. Jointly a parallel strategy is focused on searching for environmental friendly gas mixtures which are able to substitute the standard mixture without affecting the MRPC performance. An overview and first results are presented here.

Radiative $φ\toηγ$ decay is exploited to access the $η$ mesons. No signal is observed in the $π^{+}π^{-}$ invariant mass spectrum, and the upper limit on the branching fraction at 90\% confidence level is determined to be ${\mathcal B}(η\toπ^{+}π^{-})<4.9\times10^{-6}$, which is approximately three times smaller than the previous KLOE result. From the combination of these two measurements we get ${\mathcal B}(η\toπ^{+}π^{-}) < 4.4\times10^{-6}$ at 90\% confidence level.

The Extreme Energy Events (EEE) experiment, dedicated to the study of secondary cosmic rays, is arguably the largest detector system in the world implemented by Multigap Resistive Plate Chambers. The EEE network consists of 60 telescopes distributed over all the Italian territory; each telescope is made of three MRPCs and allows to reconstruct the trajectory of cosmic muons with high efficiency and optimal angular resolution. A distinctive feature of the EEE network is that almost all telescopes are housed in High Schools and managed by groups of students and teachers, who previously took care of their construction at CERN. This peculiarity is a big plus for the experiment, which combines the scientific relevance of its objectives with effective outreach activities. The unconventional location of the detectors, mainly in standard classrooms of school buildings, with heterogeneous maintenance conditions and without controlled temperature and dedicated power lines, is a unique test field to verify the robustness, the low aging characteristics and the long-lasting performance of MRPC technology for particle monitoring and timing. Finally, it is reported how the spatial resolution, efficiency, tracking capability and stability of these chambers behave in time.

The experiment consists of a telescope network mainly distributed across Italy, hosted in different building structures pertaining to high schools, universities and research centers. Therefore, the possibility to take into account the effects of these structures on collected data is important for the large physics programme of the project. A simulation tool, based on GEANT4 and using GEMC framework, has been implemented to take into account the muon interaction with EEE telescopes and to estimate the effects on data of the structures surrounding the experimental apparata.A dedicated event generator producing realistic muon distributions, detailed geometry and microscopic behavior of MRPCs have been included to produce experimental-like data. The comparison between simulated and experimental data, and the estimation of detector resolutions is here presented and discussed.

Signal efficiencies are evaluated with data control samples of $K_L \to πμν$ decays. A fit to the reconstructed muon mass distribution finds $7223 \pm 180$ signal events. Normalising to the $K_S \to π^+ π^-$ decay events the result for the branching fraction is $\mathcal{B}(K_S \to πμν) = (4.56 \pm 0.11_{\rm stat} \pm 0.17_{\rm syst})\times10^{-4}$.

The difference between observed cross sections of the evaporation residues (ER) of the $^{34}$S+$^{208}$Pb and $^{36}$S+$^{206}$Pb reactions formed in the 2n and 3n channels has been explained by two reasons related with the entrance channel characteristics of these reactions. The first reason is that the capture cross section of the latter reaction is larger than the one of the $^{34}$S+$^{208}$Pb reaction since the nucleus-nucleus potential is more attractive in the $^{36}$S+$^{206}$Pb reaction due to two more neutrons in isotope $^{36}$S. The second reason is the difference in the heights of the intrinsic fusion barrier $B^*_{\rm fus}$ appearing on the fusion trajectory by nucleon transfer between nuclei of the DNS formed after the capture. The value of $B^*_{\rm fus}$ calculated for the $^{34}$S+$^{208}$Pb reaction is higher than the one obtained for the $^{36}$S+$^{206}$Pb reaction. This fact has been caused by the difference between the $N/Z$-ratios in the light fragments of the DNS formed during the capture in these reactions. The $N/Z$-ratio has been found by solution of the transport master equations for the proton and neutron distributions between fragments of the DNS formed at capture with the different initial neutron numbers $N=18$ and $N=20$ for the reactions with the $^{34}$S and $^{36}$S, respectively.

We present detailed results of a theoretical investigation on the production of evaporation residue nuclei obtained in a heavy ion reaction when charged particles (proton and $α$-particle) are also emitted with the neutron evaporation along the deexcitation cascade of the formed compound nucleus. The almost mass symmetric $^{82}$Se+$^{138}$Ba reaction has been studied since there are many experimental results on individual evaporation residue (ER) cross sections after few light particle emissions along the cascade of the $^{220}$Th compound nucleus (CN) covering the wide 12--70 MeV excitation energy range. Our specific theoretical results on the ER cross sections for the $^{82}$Se+$^{138}$Ba are in good agreement with the available experimental measurements, but our overall theoretical results concerning all possible relevant contributions of evaporation residues are several times greater than the ERs measured in experiment. The discrepancy could be due to the experimental difficulties in the identification of ER nuclei after the emission of multiple neutral and charged particles, nevertheless the analysis of ER data is very important to test the reliability of the model and to stress the importance on the investigation of ER nuclei also obtained after charged particle emissions.

The determination of low-energy cross sections and branching ratios of the K$^-$ multi-nucleon absorption processes in $Λ$p and $Σ^0$p final states performed by the AMADEUS collaboration is presented. Low momentum K$^-$ ($p_\mathrm{K} \simeq$ 127 MeV/c) produced at the DA$Φ$NE collider are im**ed on a Carbon target within the KLOE detector and the two and three nucleon absorption processes are disentangled by comparing the experimental data to phenomenological calculations. The $Λ$p spectra are interpreted in terms of K$^-$ multi-nucleon absorption processes; the possible contribution of a K$^-$pp bound state is demonstrated to overlap with the two nucleon capture process, its absolute yield thus resulting indistinguishable.

The properties of deexcitation of the same $^{220}$Th compound nucleus (CN) formed by different mass (charge) asymmetric reactions are investigated. It is demonstrated that the effective fission barrier $<B_{\rm fis}>$ value being a function of the excitation energy $E^*_{\rm CN}$ is strongly sensitive to the various orbital angular momentum $L=\ell\hbar$ distributions of CN formed with the same excitation energy $E^*_{CN}$ by the very different entrance channels $^{16}$O+$^{204}$Pb, $^{40}$Ar+$^{180}$Hf, $^{82}$Se+$^{138}$Ba and $^{96}$Zr+$^{124}$Sn. Consequently, the competition between the fission and evaporation of light particles (neutron, proton, and $α$-particle) processes along the deexcitation cascade of CN depends on the orbital angular momentum distribution of CN. Therefore, the ratio between the evaporation residue cross sections obtained after emission of neutral and charged particles and neutrons only for the same CN with a given excitation energy $E^*_{CN}$ is sensitive to the mass (charge) asymmetry of reactants in the entrance channel.

We searched for the $μ^+μ^-$ decay of a light vector gauge boson, also known as dark photon, in the $e^+ e^- \to μ^+ μ^- γ_{\rm ISR}$ process by means of the Initial State Radiation (ISR) method. We used 1.93~fb$^{-1}$ of data collected by the KLOE experiment at the DA$Φ$NE $φ$-factory. No structures have been observed over the irreducible $μ^+ μ^-$ background. A 90\% CL limit on the ratio $\varepsilon^2=α^{\prime}/α$ between the dark coupling constant and the fine structure constant of $ 3\times 10^{-6}-2\times 10^{-7}$ has been set in the dark photon mass region between 519 MeV and 973 MeV. This new limit has been combined with the published result obtained investigating the hypothesis of the dark photon decaying into hadrons in $e^+ e^- \to π^+ π^- γ_{\rm ISR}$ events. The combined 90\% CL limit increases the sensitivity especially in the $ρ-ω$ interference region and excludes $\varepsilon^2$ greater than $(13-2)\times 10^{-7}$. For dark photon masses greater than 600 MeV the combined limit is lower than 8~$\times\, 10^{-7}$ resulting more stringent than present constraints from other experiments.

The combination of these two measurements gives $A_S = (-3.8 \pm 5.0_{stat} \pm 2.6_{syst}) \times 10^{-3}$ and, together with the asymmetry of the $K_L$ semileptonic decay, provides significant tests of the CPT symmetry. The obtained results are in agreement with CPT invariance.

The Extreme Energy Events observatory is an extended muon telescope array, covering more than 10 degrees both in latitude and longitude. Its 59 muon telescopes are equipped with tracking detectors based on Multigap Resistive Plate Chamber technology with time resolution of the order of a few hundred picoseconds. The recent restrictions on greenhouse gases demand studies for new gas mixtures in compliance with the relative requirements. Tetrafluoropropene is one of the candidates for tetrafluoroethane substitution, since it is characterized by a Global Warming Power around 300 times lower than the gas mixtures used up to now. Several mixtures have been tested, measuring efficiency curves, charge distributions, streamer fractions and time resolutions. Results are presented for the whole set of mixtures and operating conditions, %. A set of tests on a real EEE telescope, with cosmic muons, are being performed at the CERN-01 EEE telescope. The tests are focusing on identifying a mixture with good performance at the low rates typical of an EEE telescope.

The Extreme Energy Events (EEE) experiment is the largest system in the world completely implemented with Multigap Resistive Plate Chambers (MRPCs). Presently, it consists of a network of 59 muon telescopes, each made of 3 MRPCs, devoted to the study of secondary cosmic rays. Its stations, sometimes hundreds of kilometers apart, are synchronized at a few nanoseconds level via a clock signal delivered by the Global Positioning System. The data collected during centrally coordinated runs are sent to INFN CNAF, the largest center for scientific computing in Italy, where they are reconstructed and made available for analysis. Thanks to the on-line monitoring and data transmission, EEE operates as a single coordinated system spread over an area of about $3 \times 10^5$ km$^2$.
In 2017, the EEE collaboration started an important upgrade program, aiming to extend the network with 20 additional stations, with the option to have more in the future. This implies the construction, testing and commissioning of 60 chambers, for a total detector surface of around 80 m$^2$. In this paper, aspects related to this challenging endeavor are covered, starting from the technological solutions chosen to build these state-of-the-art detectors, to the quality controls and the performance tests carried on.

The EEE array is composed, so far, of 59 telescopes and is organized in clusters and single telescope stations distributed all over the Italian territory. They are installed in High Schools with the aim to join research and teaching activities, by involving researchers, teachers and students in the construction, maintenance, data taking and data analysis. The unconventional working sites, mainly school buildings with non-controlled environmental parameters and heterogeneous maintenance conditions, are a unique test field for checking the robustness, the low-ageing features and the long-lasting performance of the MRPC technology for particle tracking and timing purposes. The measurements performed with the EEE array require excellent performance in terms of time and spatial resolution, efficiency, tracking capability and stability. The data from two recent coordinated data taking periods, named Run 2 and Run 3, have been used to measure these quantities and the results are described, together with a comparison with expectations and with the results from a beam test performed in 2006 at CERN.

Experimental and theoretical results of the $P_{\mathrm{CN}}$ fusion probability of reactants in the entrance channel and the $W_{\mathrm{sur}}$ survival probability against fission at deexcitation of the compound nucleus formed in heavy-ion collisions are discussed. The theoretical results for a set of nuclear reactions leading to formation of compound nuclei (CNs) with the charge number $Z=102\text{--}122$ reveal a strong sensitivity of $P_{\mathrm{CN}}$ to the characteristics of colliding nuclei in the entrance channel, dynamics of the reaction mechanism, and excitation energy of the system. We discuss the validity of assumptions and procedures for analysis of experimental data, and also the limits of validity of theoretical results obtained by the use of phenomenological models. The comparison of results obtained in many investigated reactions reveals serious limits of validity of the data analysis and calculation procedures.

The three precision measurements of the cross section $σ\big(e^+e^-\rightarrowπ^+π^-γ(γ)\big)$ using initial state radiation by the KLOE collaboration provide an important input for the prediction of the hadronic contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. These measurements are correlated for both statistical and systematic uncertainties and, therefore, the simultaneous use of these measurements requires covariance matrices that fully describe the correlations. We present the construction of these covariance matrices and use them to determine a combined KLOE measurement for $σ\big(e^+e^-\rightarrowπ^+π^-γ(γ)\big)$. We find, from this combination, a two-pion contribution to the muon magnetic anomaly in the energy range $0.10 < s < 0.95$ GeV$^2$ of $a_μ^{π^+π^-} = (489.8 \pm 1.7_{\rm stat} \pm 4.8_{\rm sys} ) \times 10^{-10}$.

The aim of AMADEUS is to provide unprecedented experimental information on K$^-$ absorption in light nuclear targets, to face major open problems in hadron nuclear physics in the strangeness sector, namely the nature of the $Λ$(1405), strongly related to the possible existence of kaonic nuclear clusters, kaons and hyperon scattering cross sections on nucleons and nuclei. These issues are fundamental for a better understanding of the non-perturbative QCD in the strangeness sector.
AMADEUS step 0 deals with the analysis of the 2004-2005 KLOE collected data. The interactions of the negative kaons produced by the DA$Φ$NE collider (a unique source of monochromatic low-momentum kaons) with the materials of the KLOE detector, used as active targets, provide samples of K$^-$ absorptions on H, ${}^4$He, ${}^{9}$Be and ${}^{12}$C, both at-rest and in-flight. A second step deals with the data from the implementation in the central region of the KLOE detector of a pure graphite target, providing a high statistic sample of K$^- \, {}^{12}$C nuclear captures at rest. For the future a new setup, with various dedicated gaseous and solid targets, is under preparation.

We have measured the running of the effective QED coupling constant $α(s)$ in the time-like region $0.6<\sqrt s< 0.975$ GeV with the KLOE detector at DA$Φ$NE using the Initial State Radiation process $e^+e^-\toμ^+ μ^-γ$. It represents the first measurement of the running of $α(s)$ in this energy region. Our results show a more than 5$σ$ significance of the hadronic contribution to the running of $α(s)$, which is the strongest direct evidence both in time- and space-like regions achieved in a single measurement. By using the $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-$ cross section measured by KLOE, the real and imaginary part of the shift $Δα(s)$ has been extracted. By a fit of the real part of $Δα(s)$ and assuming the lepton universality the branching ratio $BR(ω\toμ^+μ^-) = (6.6\pm1.4_{stat}\pm1.7_{syst})\cdot 10^{-5} $ has been determined.

We present a search for such a particle, the dark photon, in ${\rm e^+ e^-}\rightarrow {\rm U}γ$, U$\rightarrow π^+π^-$ based on 28 million $\mathrm{e^+ e^-} \rightarrow π^+ π^-γ$ events collected at DA$Φ$NE by the KLOE experiment. The $π^+ π^-$ production by initial-state radiation compensates for a loss of sensitivity of previous KLOE ${\rm U} \rightarrow \mathrm{e^+ e^-}$, $μ^+μ^-$ searches due to the small branching ratios in the $ρ-ω$ resonance region. We found no evidence for a signal and set a limit at 90\% CL on the mixing strength between the photon and the dark photon, $\varepsilon^2$, in the U mass range between $527$ and $987$~MeV. Above 700 MeV this new limit is more stringent than previous ones.

Abstract:
A measurement of the vector to pseudoscalar conversion decay $φ\to π^0 e^+e^-$ with the KLOE experiment is presented. A sample of $\sim 9500$ signal events was selected from a data set of 1.7 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} \sim m_φ$ collected at the DA$Φ$NE $e^+e^-$ collider. These events were used to obtain the first measurement of the transition form factor $| F_{φπ^0}(q^2) |$ and…

These events were used to obtain the first measurement of the transition form factor $| F_{φπ^0}(q^2) |$ and a new measurement of the branching ratio of the decay: $\rm{BR}\,(φ\to π^0 e^+e^-) = (\,1.35 \pm 0.05^{\,\,+0.05}_{\,\,-0.10}\,) \times 10 ^{-5}$. The result improves significantly on previous measurements and is in agreement with theoretical predictions.

Abstract:
We report the measurement of K$^-$ absorption processes in the $Σ^0$p final state and the first exclusive measurement of the two nucleon absorption (2NA) with the KLOE detector. The 2NA process without further interactions is found to be 12\% of the sum of all other contributing processes, including absorption on three and more nucleons or 2NA followed by final state interactions with the residual…

We report the measurement of K$^-$ absorption processes in the $Σ^0$p final state and the first exclusive measurement of the two nucleon absorption (2NA) with the KLOE detector. The 2NA process without further interactions is found to be 12\% of the sum of all other contributing processes, including absorption on three and more nucleons or 2NA followed by final state interactions with the residual nucleons. We also determine the possible contribution of the ppK$^-$ bound state to the $Σ^0$p final state. A yield of ppK$^- /\mathrm{K^-_{stop}}$ is found to be $(0.044 \pm 0.009\, stat ^{+ 0.004} _{- 0.005} \,syst) \cdot 10^{-2}$ but its statistical significance based on an F-test is only 1$σ$.

The existence of a new force beyond the Standard Model is compelling because it could explain several striking astrophysical observations which fail standard interpretations. We searched for the light vector mediator of this dark force, the $\mathrm{U}$ boson, with the KLOE detector at the DA$Φ$NE $\mathrm{e}^{+}\mathrm{e}^{-}$ collider. Using an integrated luminosity of 1.54 fb$^{-1}$, we studied the process $\mathrm{e}^{+}\mathrm{e}^{-} \to \mathrm{U}γ$, with $\mathrm{U} \to \mathrm{e}^{+}\mathrm{e}^{-}$, using radiative-return to search for a resonant peak in the dielectron invariant-mass distribution. We did not find evidence for a signal, and set a 90\%~CL upper limit on the mixing strength between the Standard Model photon and the dark photon, $\varepsilon^2$, at $10^{-6}$--$10^{-4}$ in the 5--520~MeV/c$^2$ mass range.

Abstract:
First measurement of the beam asymmetry $Σ$ for Compton scattering off the proton in the energy range $E_γ=0.85 - 1.25$ GeV is presented. The data reveals two narrow structures at $E_γ= 1.036$ and $E_γ=1.119$ GeV. They may signal narrow resonances with masses near $1.68$ and $1.72$ GeV, or they may be generated by the sub-threshold $KΛ$ and $ωp$ production. Their decisive identification requires a…

The evaporation residue yields from compound nuclei $^{220}$Th formed in the $^{16}$O+$^{204}$Pb, $^{40}$Ar+$^{180}$Hf, $^{82}$Se+$^{138}$Ba, $^{124}$Sn+$^{96}$Zr reactions are analyzed to study the entrance channel effects by comparison of the capture, fusion and evaporation residue cross sections calculated by the combined dinuclear system (DNS) and advanced statistical models. The difference between evaporation residue (ER) cross sections can be related to the stages of compound nucleus formation or/and at its surviving against fission. The sensitivity of the both stages in the evolution of DNS up to the evaporation residue formation to the angular momentum of DNS is studied. The difference between fusion excitation functions are explained by the hindrance to complete fusion due to the larger intrinsic fusion barrier $B^*_{\rm fus}$ for the transformation of the DNS into a compound nucleus and the increase of the quasifission contribution due to the decreasing of quasifission barrier $B_{\rm qf}$ as a function of the angular momentum. The largest value of the ER residue yields in the very mass asymmetric $^{16}$O+$^{204}$Pb reaction is related to the large fusion probability and to the relatively low threshold of the excitation energy of the compound nucleus. Due to the large threshold of the excitation energy (35 MeV) of the $^{40}$Ar+$^{180}$Hf reaction, it produces less the ER yields than the almost mass symmetric $^{82}$Se+$^{138}$Ba reaction having the lowest threshold value (12 MeV).
