This work presents a new wormhole solution in General Relativity supported by the quantum vacuum fluctuations of the Casimir effect between perfect chromometallic mirrors in $(3+1)$ dimensions, which was recently fitted using first-principle numerical simulations. Initially, we employ a perturbative approach for $x = m r \ll 1$, where $m$ represents the Casimir mass. This approach has proven to be a reasonable approximation when compared with the exact case in this regime. To find well-behaved redshift functions, we impose constraints on the free parameters. As expected, this solution recovers the electromagnetic-like Casimir solution for $m = 0$. Analyzing the traversability conditions, we graphically find that all will be satisfied for $ 0 \leq m \leq 0.20$. On the other hand, all the energy conditions are violated, as usual in this context. Stability from Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkov (TOV) equation is guaranteed for all $r$ and from the speed of sound for $0.16 \le m \le 0.18$. Therefore, for $0.16 \leq m \leq 0.18$, we will have a stable solution that satisfies all traversability conditions.

We study the space-time geometry generated by coupling a free scalar field with a non-canonical kinetic term to General Relativity in $(2+1)$ dimensions. After identifying a family of scalar Lagrangians that yield exact analytical solutions in static and circularly symmetric scenarios, we classify the various types of solutions and focus on a branch that yields asymptotically flat geometries. We show that the solutions within such a branch can be divided in two types, namely, naked singularities and nonsingular objects without a center. In the latter, the energy density is localized around a maximum and vanishes only at infinity and at an inner boundary. This boundary has vanishing curvatures and cannot be reached by any time-like or null geodesic in finite affine time. This allows us to consistently interpret such solutions as nonsingular, lump-like, static compact scalar objects, whose eventual extension to the $(3+1)$-dimensional context could provide structures of astrophysical interest.

Einstenian cubic gravity (ECG) is a modified theory of gravity constructed with cubic contractions of the curvature tensor. This theory has the remarkable feature of having the same two propagating degrees of freedom of Einstein gravity (EG), at the perturbative level on maximally symmetric spacetimes. The additional unstable modes steaming from the higher order derivative dynamics are suppressed provided that we consider the ECG as an effective field theory wherein the cubic terms are seen as perturbative corrections of the Einstein-Hilbert term. Extensions of ECG have been proposed in cosmology and compact objects in order to probe if this property holds in more general configurations. In this work, we construct a modified ECG gravity in a five dimensional warped braneworld scenario. By assuming a specific combination of the cubic parameters, we obtained modified gravity equations of motion with terms up to second-order. For a thin 3-brane, the cubic-gravity corrections yield an effective positive bulk cosmological constant. Thus, in order to keep the 5D bulk warped compact, an upper bound of the cubic parameter with respect to the bulk curvature was imposed. For a thick brane, the cubic-gravity terms modify the scalar field potential and its corresponding vacuum. Nonetheless, the domain-wall structure with a localized source is preserved. At the perturbative level, the Kaluza-Klein (KK) tensor gravitational modes are stable and possess a localized massless mode provided the cubic corrections are small compared to the EG braneworld.

Despite the experimental success of general relativity in the scales it has been tested, there are still some inconsistencies, such as explaining the acceleration of the universe and singularities. $f(R)$ gravity has emerged to provide corrections to the Ricci scalar, leading to new equations of motion that could explain this acceleration. On the other hand, Regular Black Holes, supported by non-linear electrodynamics, have well-defined curvature scalars but often violate energy conditions. In this work, we investigate how to obtain regular solutions in $(2+1)$ dimensions by considering $f(R)$ gravity and non-linear electrodynamics. Subsequently, we find that non-linear electrodynamics models that guarantee regular solutions in General Relativity do not produce regular solutions in $f(R)$ theory. Finally, we observe that energy conditions are still violated in $f(R)$ gravity.

This work aims to investigate the classical-level duality between the $SIM(1)$-Maxwell-Chern-Simons (MCS) model and its self-dual counterpart. Initially, our focus is on free-field cases to establish equivalence through two distinct approaches: comparing the equations of motion and utilizing the master Lagrangian method. In both instances, the classical correspondence between the self-dual field and the MCS dual field undergoes modifications due to very special relativity (VSR). Specifically, duality is established only when the associated VSR-mass parameters are the same. Furthermore, we analyze the duality when the self-dual model is minimally coupled to fermions. As a result, we show that Thirring-like interactions, corrected for non-local VSR contributions, are included in the MCS model. Additionally, we demonstrate the equivalence of the fermion sectors in both models, thereby concluding the proof of classical-level duality.

This work aims to study the radiative corrections in a vector model with spontaneous Lorentz symmetry violation, known in the literature as the bumblebee model. We consider such a model with self-interaction quadratic smooth potential responsible for spontaneous Lorentz symmetry breaking. The spectrum of this model displays a transversal nonmassive mode, identified as Nambu-Goldstone, and a massive longitudinal mode. Besides the Lorentz symmetry, this model also exhibits gauge symmetry violation. To restore the gauge symmetry, we introduce the Stueckelberg field and calculate the two-point function by employing the principal-value (PV) prescription. The result is nontransversal, leading to a massive excited mode.

This work investigates the implications of very special relativity (VSR) on the calculation of vacuum polarization for fermions in the presence of Maxwell and Kalb-Ramond gauge fields in four-dimensional spacetime. We derive the $SIM(2)$-covariant gauge theory associated with an Abelian antisymmetric 2-tensor and its corresponding field strength. We demonstrate that the free VSR-Kalb-Ramond electrodynamics is equivalent to a massive scalar field with a single polarization. Furthermore, we determine an explicit expression for the effective action involving Maxwell and Kalb-Ramond fields due to fermionic vacuum polarization at one-loop order. The quantum corrections generate divergences free of nonlocal terms only in the VSR-Maxwell sector. At the same time, we observe UV/IR mixing divergences due to the entanglement of VSR-nonlocal effects with quantum higher-derivative terms for the Kalb-Ramond field. However, in the lower energy limit, the effective action can be renormalized like in the Lorentz invariant case.

This work presents new three-dimensional traversable wormhole solutions sourced by the Casimir density and pressures related to the quantum vacuum fluctuations in Yang-Mills (Y-M) theory. We begin by analyzing the noninteracting Y-M Casimir wormholes, initially considering an arbitrary state parameter $ω$ and determine a simple constant wormhole shape function. Next, we introduce a new methodology for deforming the state parameter to find well-behaved redshift functions. The wormhole can be interpreted as a legitimate Casimir wormhole with an expected average state parameter of $ω=2$. Then, we investigate the wormhole curvature properties, energy conditions, and stability. Furthermore, we discover a novel family of traversable wormhole solutions sourced by the quantum vacuum fluctuations of interacting Yang-Mills fields with a more complex shape function. Deforming the effective state parameter similarly, we obtain well-behaved redshift functions and traversable wormhole solutions. Finally, we examine the energy conditions and stability of solutions in the interacting scenario and compare to the noninteracting case.

This paper investigates the Casimir Energy modifications due to the Lorentz-violating CPT-even contribution in an extension of the scalar QED. We have considered the complex scalar field satisfying Dirichlet boundary conditions between two parallel plates separated by a small distance. An appropriate tensor parametrization allowed us to study the Casimir effect in three setups: isotropic, anisotropic parity-odd, and anisotropic parity-even. We have shown that the Lorentz-violating contributions promote increased Casimir energy for both the isotropic and anisotropic parity-odd configurations. However, in the parity-even case, the Lorentz-violating terms can promote either an increase or a decrease in the Casimir energy. We have shown that both the increased and decreased amounts in the Casimir energy depend on the momentum projection over the Lorentz-violating vectors.

We adopt the braneworld scenarios in which the first-order formalism with sine-Gordon and linear superpotentials is employed to obtain the warp factors. A linear function supports the zero-mode trap** within the geometric coupling, leading to the same effective potential as the scalar field. Moreover, an exotic term must be added to obtain real-valued massive modes. Such modes are investigated through the Schrödinger-like approach.

Both fields require a suitable coupling in five-dimensional braneworld scenarios to yield a normalizable zero mode. We propose a Stueckelberg-like geometrical coupling that non-minimally couples the fields to the torsion scalar and boundary term. To set up our braneworld models, we use the first-order formalism in which two kinds of superpotential are taken: sine-Gordon and $φ^{4}$-deformed. The geometrical coupling is used to produce a localized zero mode. Moreover, we analyze the massive spectrum for both fields and obtain possible resonant massive modes. This paper investigates a new class of regular black hole solutions in (2 + 1)-dimensions by introducing a generalization of the quasi-localized matter model proposed by Estrada and Tello-Ortiz. Initially, we try to physically interpret the matter source encoded in the energy-momentum tensor as originating from nonlinear electrodynamics. We show, however, that the required conditions for the quasi-locality of the energy density are incompatible with the expected behavior of nonlinear electrodynamics, which must tend to Maxwell's theory on the asymptotic limit. Despite this, we propose a generalization for the quasi-localized energy density that encompasses the existing models in the literature and allows us to obtain a class of regular black hole solutions exhibiting remarkable features on the event horizons and their thermodynamic properties. Furthermore, since the usual version of the first law of thermodynamics, due to the presence of the matter fields, leads to incorrect values of entropy and thermodynamics volume for regular black holes, we propose a new version of the first law for regular black holes.

We propose a braneworld scenario in a modified symmetric teleparallel gravitational theory, where the dynamics for the gravitational field is encoded in the nonmetricity tensor rather than in the curvature. Assuming a single real scalar field with a sine-Gordon self-interaction, the generalized quadratic nonmetricity invariant $\mathbb{Q}$ controls the brane width while kee** the shape of the energy density. By considering power corrections of the invariant $\mathbb{Q}$ in the gravitational Lagrangian, the sine-Gordon potential is modified exhibiting new barriers and false vacuum. As a result, the domain wall brane obtains an inner structure, and it undergoes a splitting process. In addition, we also propose a non-minimal coupling between a bulk fermion field and the nonmetricity invariant $\mathbb{Q}$. Such geometric coupling leads to a massless chiral fermion bound to the 3-brane and a stable tower of non-localized massive states.

This article focuses on the coupling constant $ξ_1$, which generates, from the Kalb-Ramond field, all three coefficients that give rise to the Lorentz violation in the gravity sector of the minimal Standard Model Extension. The coupling constant $ξ_1$ increases the rate of expansion of the universe in a given direction during a dark energy era. We find that the wormhole is non-asymptotically globally flat and determine the allowed parameters of the theory, showing that the matter fluid must be necessarily anisotropic. We also analyze the energy conditions, checking their validity range and comparing them with those predicted by general relativity.

In this work, a bumblebee field is adopted in order to generate cosmological anisotropies. For that purpose, we assume a Bianchi I cosmology, as the background geometry, and a bumblebee field coupled to it. Bumblebee models are examples of a mechanism for the Lorentz symmetry violation by assuming a nonzero vacuum expectation value for the bumblebee field. When coupled to the Bianchi I geometry, which is not in agreement with a cosmological principle, the bumblebee field plays the role of a source of anisotropies and produces a preferred axis. Thus, a fraction of the cosmic anisotropies would come from the Lorentz symmetry violation. In the last part of the article, we try to assume an upper bound on the bumblebee field using the quadrupole and octopole moments of the cosmic microwave background radiation.

In this work, we present black hole solutions with a cosmological constant in bumblebee gravity, which provides a mechanism for the Lorentz symmetry violation by assuming a nonzero vacuum expectation value for the bumblebee field. From the gravitational point of view, such solutions are spherically symmetric black holes with an effective cosmological constant and are supported by an anisotropic energy-momentum tensor, conceived of as the manifestation of the bumblebee field in the spacetime geometry. Then we calculate the shadow angular radius for the proposed black hole solution with a positive effective cosmological constant. In particular, our results are the very first relation between the bumblebee field and the shadow angular size.

In this work, we revisit the duality between a self-dual non-gauge invariant theory and a topological massive theory in $3+1$ dimensions. The self-dual Lagrangian is composed by a vector field and an antisymmetric field tensor whereas the topological massive Lagrangian is build using a $B \wedge F$ term. Though the Lagrangians are quite different, they yield to equations of motion that are connected by a simple dual map** among the fields. We discuss this duality by analyzing the degrees of freedom in both theories and comparing their propagating modes at the classical level. Moreover, we employ the master action method to obtain a fundamental Lagrangian that interpolates between these two theories and makes evident the role of the topological $B \wedge F$ term in the duality relation. By coupling these theories with matter fields, we show that the duality holds provided a Thirring-like term is included. In addition, we use the master action in order to probe the duality upon the quantized fields. We carried out a functional integration of the fields and compared the resulting effective Lagrangians.

Specifically, we analyze Podolsky's theory and its extension involving the Lorentz symmetry violation recently proposed in the literature. First, we use the concept of the number of available states of the system in order to construct the partition function. Next, we calculate the main thermodynamic functions: Helmholtz free energy, mean energy, entropy, and heat capacity. In particular, we verify that there exist significant changes in heat capacity and mean energy due to Lorentz violation. Additionally, the modification of the black body radiation and the correction to the Stefan-Boltzmann law in the context of the primordial inflationary universe are provided for both theories as well.

We study the gravitation effects on a static and spherically symmetric spacetime due to the vacuum expectation value (VEV) of a Kalb-Ramond field. The Kalb-Ramond VEV is a background tensor field which produces a local Lorentz symmetry breaking (LSB) of spacetime. Considering a non-minimal coupling between the Kalb-Ramond (VEV) and the Ricci tensor, we obtain an exact parameter-dependent power-law modified black hole. For a particular choice of the LSB parameter, the Lorentz violation produces a solution similar to the Reissner-Nordstrom, despite the absence of charge. The near-horizon geometry is modified by including a new inner horizon and shifting the Schwarzschild horizon. Asymptotically, the usual Minkowski spacetime with a background tensor field is recovered. The vacuum configurations are studied considering the energy conditions and the Lorentz violating source properties. By means of the mercury perihelion test, an upper bound to the local Lorentz violation (LV) is obtained, and its corresponding effects on the black hole temperature is investigated.

In this paper, we consider an electrodynamics of higher derivatives coupled to a Lorentz-violating background tensor. Specifically, we are interested in a dimension-five term of the CPT-odd sector of the nonminimal Standard-Model Extension. By a particular choice of the operator $\hat{k}_{AF}$, we obtain a higher-derivative version of the Carroll-Field-Jackiw (CFJ) term, $\frac{1}{2}ε^{κλμν}A_λD_κ\square F_{μν}$, with a Lorentz-violating background vector $D_κ$. This modification is subject to being investigated. We calculate the propagator of the theory and from its poles, we analyze the dispersion relations of the isotropic and anisotropic sectors. We verify that classical causality is valid for all parameter choices, but that unitarity of the theory is generally not assured. The latter is found to break down for certain configurations of the background field and momentum. In an analog way, we also study a dimension-five anisotropic higher-derivative CFJ term, which is written as $ε^{κλμν}A_λT_κ(T\cdot\partial)^{2}F_{μν}$ and is directly linked to the photon sector of Myers-Pospelov theory. Within the second model, purely timelike and spacelike $T_κ$ are considered. For the timelike choice, one mode is causal, whereas the other is noncausal. Unitarity is conserved, in general, as long as the energy stays real - even for the noncausal mode. For the spacelike scenario, causality is violated when the propagation direction lies within certain regimes. However, there are particular configurations preserving unitarity and strong numerical indications exist that unitarity is guaranteed for all purely spacelike configurations. The results improve our understanding of nonminimal CPT-odd extensions of the electromagnetic sector.

A brief analysis of the main consequences of this symmetry breaking on free-waves solutions and in the presence of matter sources are presented. For the free case, the modified wave equation for the gravitational perturbation field is solved, and we compare the polarization states with the usual solution. Considering a current that acts as a source of the radiation, we solve the equation of motion using the Green function method. Finally, considering that the source has slow motion, we derive the new quadrupole formula.

Recently, a semiclassical method known as the tunneling method has been proposed as a more straightforward way of derivating black hole thermodynamical properties. This method has been widely applied to a vast sort of spacetimes with satisfactory results. In this work, we obtain the black hole thermodynamics in the presence of a Lorentz symmetry breaking (LSB). We apply the Hamilton-Jacobi method to Schwarzschild-like black holes, and we investigate whether the LSB affects their thermodynamics. The results found show that the LSB not only changes the black hole thermodynamic quantities but also makes it necessary to modify the standard first law of thermodynamics.

In this work, we study the spontaneous Lorentz symmetry breaking due to an antisymmetric 2-tensor field in Minkowski spacetime. For a smooth quadratic potential, the spectrum of the theory exhibits massless and massive excitations. We show that the equations of motion for the free field obey some constraints which lead to the massive mode be non-propagating at leading order. Besides, there exists a massless mode in the theory which can be identified with the usual Kalb-Ramond field, carrying only one on-shell degree of freedom. The same conclusion holds when one analyses the pole structure of its Feynman propagator. A new complete set of spin-type operators is found, which was the requirement to evaluate the propagator of the Kalb-Ramond field modified by the presence of a nonzero vacuum expectation value responsible for the Lorentz violation.

In this work, we evaluate the Shannon-like entropic measure of spatially-localized functions for a five-dimensional braneworld generated by a double sine-Gordon (DSG) potential. The differential configurational entropy (DCE) has been shown in several recent works to be a configurational informational measure (CIM) that selects critical points and brings out phase transitions in confined energy models with arbitrary parameters. We select the DSG scenario because it presents an energy-degenerate spatially localized profile where the solutions to the scalar field demonstrate critical behavior that is only a result of geometrical effects. As we will show, the DCE evaluation provides a method for predicting the existence of a transition between the phases of the domain wall solutions. Moreover, the entropic measure reveals information about the model that is capable of describing the phase sector where we obtain resonance modes on the massive spectra of the graviton. The graviton resonance lifetimes are related to the existence of scales on which 4D gravity is recovered. Thus, we correlate the critical points defined by the {CIMs} with the existence of resonances and their lifetimes. To extend our research regarding this system, we calculate the corrections to Newton's Law coming from the graviton modes.

To solve our system, we apply the $left$-$handed$ and $right$-$handed$ projection operators in the Dirac oscillator to obtain a biconfluent Heun equation. Next, we explicitly determine the energy spectrum for the bound states of the system and their exact dependence on the cyclotron frequency $ω_c$ and on the parameters $Z$ and $Φ_{AB}$ that characterize the Aharonov-Bohm-Coulomb system. As a result, we observe that by adjusting the frequency of the Dirac oscillator to resonate with the cyclotron half-frequency the energy spectrum reduces to the rest energy of the particle. Also, we determine the exact eigenfunctions, angular frequencies, and energy levels of the Dirac oscillator for the ground state ($n=1$) and the first excited state ($n=2$). In this case, the energy levels do not depend on the homogeneous magnetic field, and the angular frequencies are real and positive quantities, increase quadratically with the energy and linearly with $ω_{c}$.

We obtained thermodynamic quantities like the Hawking temperature, entropy, and heat capacity for the entire class. As part of an effort to indicate some physical observable to distinguish regular black holes from singular black holes, we suggest that regular black holes are colder than singular black holes. Besides, contrary to the Schwarzschild black hole, that class of regular black holes may be thermodynamically stable. From a generalized uncertainty principle, we also obtained the quantum-corrected thermodynamics for the studied class. We adopt a generic form that parametrizes the components of $c_{μν}$ in terms of one four-vector, namely, $c_{μν}=u_μu_ν- ζ\frac{u^2}{4}g_{μν}$. We then generate perturbatively, up to the third order in this tensor, the aether-like term for the gauge field. This work deals with gravity localization on codimension-1 brane worlds engendered by compacton-like kinks, the so-called hybrid branes. In such scenarios, the thin brane behaviour is manifested when the extra dimension is outside the compact domain, where the energy density is non-trivial, instead of asymptotically as in the usual thick brane models. The zero mode is trapped in the brane, as required. The massive modes, although are not localized in the brane, have important phenomenological implications such as corrections to the Newton's law. We study such corrections in the usual thick domain wall and in the hybrid brane scenarios. By means of suitable numerical methods, we attain the mass spectrum for the graviton and the corresponding wavefunctions. The spectra possess the usual linearly increasing behaviour from the Kaluza-Klein theories. Further, we show that the 4D gravitational force is slightly increased at short distances. The first eigenstate contributes highly for the correction to the Newton's law. The subsequent normalized solutions have diminishing contributions. Moreover, we find out that the phenomenology of the hybrid brane is not different from the usual thick domain wall. The use of numerical techniques for solving the equations of the massive modes is useful for matching possible phenomenological measurements in the gravitational law as a probe to warped extra dimensions.

In this work, we study the localization of the vector gauge field in two five-dimensional braneworlds generated by scalar fields coupled to gravity. The sine-Gordon like potentials are employed to produce different thick brane setups. A zero mode localized is obtained, and we show the existence of reverberations with the wave solutions indicating a quasi-localized massive mode. More interesting results are achieved when we propose a double sine-Gordon potential to the scalar field. The resulting thick brane shows a more detailed topology with the presence of an internal structure composed by two kinks. The massive spectrum of the gauge field is revalued on this scenario revealing the existence of various resonant modes. Furthermore, we compute the corrections to Coulomb law coming from these massive KK vector modes in these thick scenarios, where is concluded that the dilaton parameter regulates these corrections.

We investigate the properties of a real scalar field in the Finslerian Randers spacetime, where the local Lorentz violation is driven by a geometrical background vector. We propose a dynamics for the scalar field by a minimal coupling of the scalar field and the Finsler metric. The coupling is intrinsically defined on the Randers spacetime, and it leads to a non-canonical kinetic term for the scalar field. The nonlinear dynamics can be split into a linear and nonlinear regimes, which depend perturbatively on the even and odd powers of the Lorentz-violating parameter, respectively. We analyze the plane-waves solutions and the modified dispersion relations, and it turns out that the spectrum is free of tachyons up to second-order.

One simplified black hole model constructed from a semiclassical analysis of loop quantum gravity (LQG) is called self-dual black hole. This black hole solution depends on a free dimensionless parameter P known as the polymeric parameter and also on the $a_{0}$ area related to the minimum area gap of LQG. In the limit of P and $a_{0}$ going to zero, the usual Schwarzschild-solution is recovered. Here we investigate the quasinormal modes (QNMs) of massless scalar perturbations in the self-dual black hole background. We compute the QN frequencies using the sixth order WKB approximation method and compare them with numerical solutions of the Regge-Wheeler equation. Our results show that as the parameter P grows, the real part of the QN frequencies suffers an initial increase and then starts to decrease while the magnitude of the imaginary one decreases for fixed area gap $a_{0}$. This particular feature means that the dam** of scalar perturbations in the self-dual black hole spacetimes are slower, and their oscillations are faster or slower according to the value of P.

We investigate some quantum features of the bumblebee electrodynamics in flat spacetimes. The bumblebee field is a vector field that leads to a spontaneous Lorentz symmetry breaking. For a smooth quadratic potential, the massless excitation (Nambu-Goldstone boson) can be identified as the photon, transversal to the vacuum expectation value of the bumblebee field. Besides, there is a massive excitation associated with the longitudinal mode and whose presence leads to instability in the spectrum of the theory. By using the principal-value prescription, we show that no one-loop radiative corrections to the mass term is generated. Moreover, the bumblebee self-energy is not transverse, showing that the propagation of the longitudinal mode can not be excluded from the effective theory.
