Exactness of SWKB for Shape Invariant Potentials
Abstract: The supersymmetry based semiclassical method (SWKB) is known to produce exact spectra for conventional shape invariant potentials. In this paper we prove that this exactness follows from their additive shape invariance.

Inter-relations between additive shape invariant superpotentials
Abstract: All known additive shape invariant superpotentials in nonrelativistic quantum mechanics belong to one of two categories: superpotentials that do not explicitly depend on $\hbar$, and their $\hbar$-dependent extensions. The former group themselves into two disjoint classes, depending on whether the corresponding Schrödinger equation can be reduced to a hypergeometric equation (type-I) or a confluen… ▽ More

Generation of a Novel Exactly Solvable Potential
Abstract: We report a new shape invariant (SI) isospectral extension of the Morse potential. Previous investigations have shown that the list of "conventional" SI superpotentials that do not depend explicitly on Planck's constant $\hbar$ is complete. Additionally, a set of "extended" superpotentials has been identified, each containing a conventional superpotential as a kernel and additional $\hbar$-depende… ▽ More

Method for Generating Additive Shape Invariant Potentials from an Euler Equation
Abstract: In the supersymmetric quantum mechanics formalism, the shape invariance condition provides a sufficient constraint to make a quantum mechanical problem solvable; i.e., we can determine its eigenvalues and eigenfunctions algebraically. Since shape invariance relates superpotentials and their derivatives at two different values of the parameter $a$, it is a non-local condition in the coordinate-para… ▽ More

Generation of a Complete Set of Supersymmetric Shape Invariant Potentials from an Euler Equation
Abstract: In supersymmetric quantum mechanics, shape invariance is a sufficient condition for solvability. We show that all conventional additive shape invariant superpotentials that are independent of $\hbar$ obey two partial differential equations. One of these is equivalent to the one-dimensional Euler equation expressing momentum conservation for inviscid fluid flow, and it is closed by the other. We so… ▽ More

Ab Initio Method for Obtaining Exactly Solvable Quantum Mechanical Potentials
Abstract: The shape invariance condition is the integrability condition in supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SUSYQM). It is a difference-differential equation connecting the superpotential W and its derivative at two different values of parameters. We show that this difference equation is equivalent to a non-linear partial differential equation whose solutions are translational shape invariant superpotent… ▽ More

Exactly solvable systems and the Quantum Hamilton-Jacobi formalism
Abstract: We connect Quantum Hamilton-Jacobi Theory with supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SUSYQM). We show that the shape invariance, which is an integrability condition of SUSYQM, translates into fractional linear relations among the quantum momentum functions.

Supersymmetry in the Half-Oscillator - Revisited
Abstract: Following a recent study by Das and Pernice [Nucl. Phys. B561, (1999) 357], we have carefully analyzed the half-harmonic oscillator. In contrast to their observations, our analysis reveals that the spectrum does not allow for a zero energy ground state and hence the supersymmetry is broken when the domain is restricted to the positive half of the real axis.

Broken Supersymmetric Shape Invariant Systems and Their Potential Algebras
Abstract: Although eigenspectra of one dimensional shape invariant potentials with unbroken supersymmetry are easily obtained, this procedure is not applicable when the parameters in these potentials correspond to broken supersymmetry, since there is no zero energy eigenstate. We describe a novel two-step shape invariance approach as well as a group theoretic potential algebra approach for solving such br… ▽ More

Exactly solvable models of supersymmetric quantum mechanics and connection to spectrum generating algebra
Abstract: For nonrelativistic Hamiltonians which are shape invariant, analytic expressions for the eigenvalues and eigenvectors can be derived using the well known method of supersymmetric quantum mechanics. Most of these Hamiltonians also possess spectrum generating algebras and are hence solvable by an independent group theoretic method. In this paper, we demonstrate the equivalence of the two methods o… ▽ More

Shape Invariance and Its Connection to Potential Algebra
Abstract: Exactly solvable potentials of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics are known to be shape invariant. For these potentials, eigenvalues and eigenvectors can be derived using well known methods of supersymmetric quantum mechanics. The majority of these potentials have also been shown to possess a potential algebra, and hence are also solvable by group theoretical techniques. In this paper, for a subs… ▽ More

Shape Invariant Natanzon Potentials from Potential Algebra
Abstract: Using the underlying algebraic structures of Natanzon potentials, we discuss conditions that generate shape invariant potentials. In fact, these conditions give all the known shape invariant potentials corresponding to a translational change of parameters. We also find that while the algebra for the general Natanzon potential is $SO(2,2)$, a subgroup $SO(2,1)$ suffices for all the shape invarian… ▽ More
