Characterization of Fast Ion Transport via Position-Dependent Optical Deshelving
Abstract: Ion transport is an essential operation in some models of quantum information processing, where fast ion shuttling with minimal motional excitation is necessary for efficient, high-fidelity quantum logic. While fast and cold ion shuttling has been demonstrated, the dynamics and specific trajectory of an ion during diabatic transport have not been studied in detail. Here we describe a position-depe… ▽ More

Transport Implementation of the Bernstein-Vazirani Algorithm with Ion Qubits
Abstract: Using trapped ion quantum bits in a scalable microfabricated surface trap, we perform the Bernstein-Vazirani algorithm. Our architecture relies upon ion transport and can readily be expanded to larger systems. The algorithm is demonstrated using two- and three-ion chains. For three ions, an improvement is achieved compared to a classical system using the same number of oracle queries. For two ions… ▽ More

A Rydberg blockade CNOT gate and entanglement in a 2D array of neutral atom qubits
Abstract: We present experimental results on two-qubit Rydberg blockade quantum gates and entanglement in a two-dimensional qubit array. Without post selection against atom loss we achieve a Bell state fidelity of $0.73\pm 0.05$, the highest value reported to date. The experiments are performed in an array of single Cs atom qubits with a site to site spacing of $3.8 ~ μ\rm m$. Using the standard protocol fo… ▽ More

Randomized benchmarking of single qubit gates in a 2D array of neutral atom qubits
Abstract: We characterize single qubit Clifford gate operations with randomized benchmarking in a 2D array of neutral atom qubits, and demonstrate global and site selected gates with high fidelity. An average fidelity of $F^2=0.9983(14)$ is measured for global microwave driven gates applied to a 49 qubit array. Single site gates are implemented with a focused laser beam to Stark shift the microwaves into… ▽ More

A two-dimensional lattice of blue detuned atom traps using a projected Gaussian beam array
Abstract: We describe a new type of blue detuned optical lattice for atom trap** which is intrinsically two dimensional, while providing three-dimensional atom localization. The lattice is insensitive to optical phase fluctuations since it does not depend on field interference between distinct optical beams. The array is created using a novel arrangement of weakly overlap** Gaussian beams that creates a… ▽ More

A crossed vortex bottle beam trap for single-atom qubits
Abstract: We demonstrate trap** and quantum state control of single Cesium atoms in a 532 nm wavelength bottle beam trap. The three dimensional trap is formed by crossing two unit charge vortex beams. Single atoms are loaded with 50% probability directly from a magneto-optical trap. We achieve a trap** lifetime of up to 6 s, and demonstrate fast Rabi oscillations with a coherence time of… ▽ More
