The percolation threshold is an important measure to determine the inherent rigidity of large networks. Predictors of the percolation threshold for large networks are computationally intense to run, hence it is a necessity to develop predictors of the percolation threshold of networks, that do not rely on numerical simulations. We demonstrate the efficacy of five machine learning-based regression techniques for the accurate prediction of the percolation threshold. The dataset generated to train the machine learning models contains a total of 777 real and synthetic networks. It consists of 5 statistical and structural properties of networks as features and the numerically computed percolation threshold as the output attribute. We establish that the machine learning models outperform three existing empirical estimators of bond percolation threshold, and extend this experiment to predict site and explosive percolation. Further, we compared the performance of our models in predicting the percolation threshold using RMSE values. The gradient boosting regressor, multilayer perceptron and random forests regression models achieve the least RMSE values among considered models.

Quantum and Classical computers continue to work together in tight cooperation to solve difficult problems. The combination is thus suggested in recent times for decoding the Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes, for the next generation Wireless Communication systems. In this paper we have worked out the Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization (QUBO) formulation for Rayleigh Fading channels for two different scenarios: channel state fully known and not known. The resultant QUBO are solved using D-Wave 2000Q Quantum Annealer and the outputs from the Annealer are classically postprocessed, invoking the notion of diversity. Simple minimum distance decoding of the available copies of the outputs led to improved performance, compared to picking the minimum-energy solution in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER). Apart from providing these results and the comparisons to fully classical Simulated Annealing (SA) and the traditional Belief Propagation (BP) based strategies, some remarks about diversity due to quantum processing are also spelt out.

Utilizing present and futuristic Quantum Computers to solve difficult problems in different domains has become one of the main endeavors at this moment. Of course, in arriving at the requisite solution both quantum and classical computers work in conjunction. With the continued popularity of Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes and hence their decoding, this paper looks into the latter as a Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization (QUBO) and utilized D-Wave 2000Q Quantum Annealer to solve it. The outputs from the Annealer are classically post-processed using simple minimum distance decoding to further improve the performance. We evaluated and compared this implementation against the decoding performance obtained using Simulated Annealing (SA) and belief propagation (BP) decoding with classical computers. The results show that implementations of annealing (both simulated and quantum) are superior to BP decoding and suggest that the advantage becomes more prominent as block lengths increase. Reduced Bit Error Rate (BER) and Frame Error Rate (FER) are observed for simulated annealing and quantum annealing, at useful SNR range - a trend that persists for various codeword lengths.
