In agent-based simulations, synthetic populations of agents are commonly used to represent the structure, behaviour, and interactions of individuals. However, generating a synthetic population that accurately reflects real population statistics is a challenging task, particularly when performed at scale. In this paper, we propose a multi objective combinatorial optimisation technique for large scale population synthesis. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach by generating a synthetic population for selected regions and validating it on contingency tables from real population data. Our approach supports complex hierarchical structures between individuals and households, is scalable to large populations and achieves minimal contigency table reconstruction error. Hence, it provides a useful tool for policymakers and researchers for simulating the dynamics of complex populations.

This research investigates the impact of modified gravity on cosmic scales, focusing on $f(Q)$ cosmology. By applying energy conditions, the study reconstructs various $f(Q)$ models, considering an accelerating Universe, quintessence, and a cosmological constant $Λ$. Using up-to-date observational data, including the Supernova Pantheon sample and cosmic chronometer data, Hubble constants $H_0$ are estimated as $70.37^{+0.84}_{-0.92}$ km/sec/Mpc (from $H(z)$ data) and $70.02^{+0.44}_{-0.25}$ km/sec/Mpc (from pantheon compilation of SN Ia data). The matter energy density parameter ($Ω_{0m}$) is calculated as $0.26^{0.015}_{-0.010}$(OHD) and $0.27^{0.025}_{-0.014}$(SN Ia). Furthermore, as a function of redshift $z$, explicit expressions of $f(Q)$ and the EOS parameter $ω$ are produced, and their graphical analysis describes the late time acceleration of the Universe without the usage of dark energy.

There are so many ideas that potentially explain the dark energy phenomenon, current research is focusing on a more in-depth analysis of the potential effects of modified gravity on both local and cosmic scales. In this paper we have investigated some cosmic reconstructions in $f (Q)$ cosmology where $Q$ is the non-metricity corresponding to the evolution background in the Friedmann-Lamatre-Robertson-Walker $(FLRW)$ universe. This allows us to determine how any $FLRW$ cosmology can emerge from a particular $f (Q)$ theory. We employ the reconstruction technique to generate explicit formulations of the $f (Q)$ Lagrangian for several types of matter sources like perfect fluid, dust like fluid, stiff fluid and the binary mixture of two fluids. Furthermore, we computed the field equations and equation of state (EoS) parameter $ω$ for two different reconstructed $f(Q)$ models with the variation of the involved constants, which gives the scenario of accelerating universe, quintessence region and cosmological constant. We also observed that the time dependence of $ω$ admits cosmic acceleration. These new $f(Q)$ gravity inspired models may have an impact on gravitational phenomena at other cosmological scales.

In this article, we present a new quantum Painlevé II Lax pair which explicitly involves the Planck constant $ \hbar $ and an arbitrary field variable $v$ so these two objects make this new pair different from Flaschka-Newell Painlevé II Lax pair and that pair appears as particular case of our's pair which consolidates the Painlevé II equation from quantum mechanical point of view. It is shown that the compatibility of quantum Painlevé II Lax pair simultaneously yields a quantum Painlevé II equation and a quantum commutation relation between field variable $v $ and independent variable $z$. We manifest that with the different choices of arbitrary field variable system reduces to its classical version, matrix Painlevé II equation and derivative matrix Painlevé II equation. Further, we construct the gauge equivalence of quantum Painlevé II Lax pair whose compatibility condition gives rise to quantum p34 equation that involves $\hbar $ with power $+1$ which makes our system more quantized as compared to the existed one that carries $\hbar $ with power $+2$.

In this thesis a comprehensive verification framework is proposed to contend with some important issues in composability verification and a verification process is suggested to verify composability of different kinds of systems models, such as reactive, real-time and probabilistic systems. With an assumption that all these systems are concurrent in nature in which different composed components interact with each other simultaneously, the requirements for the extensive techniques for the structural and behavioral analysis becomes increasingly challenging. The proposed verification framework provides methods, techniques and tool support for verifying composability at its different levels. These levels are defined as foundations of consistent model composability. Each level is discussed in detail and an approach is presented to verify composability at that level. In particular we focus on the Dynamic-Semantic Composability level due to its significance in the overall composability correctness and also due to the level of difficulty it poses in the process. In order to verify composability at this level we investigate the application of three different approaches namely (i) Petri Nets based Algebraic Analysis (ii) Colored Petri Nets (CPN) based State-space Analysis and (iii) Communicating Sequential Processes based Model Checking. All three approaches attack the problem of verifying dynamic-semantic composability in different ways however they all share the same aim i.e., to confirm the correctness of a composed model with respect to its requirement specifications.

The experiment aims at achieving an ultra-low background rate and its primary goal is to confirm or refute the results from the DAMA/LIBRA experiment. The SABRE Proof-of-Principle phase was carried out in 2020-2021 at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory (LNGS), in Italy. The next phase consists of two full-scale experiments: SABRE South at the Stawell Underground Physics Laboratory, in Australia, and SABRE North at LNGS. This paper focuses on SABRE South and presents a detailed simulation of the detector, which is used to characterise the background for dark matter searches including DAMA/LIBRA-like modulation. We estimate an overall background of 0.72 cpd/kg/keV$_{ee}$ in the energy range 1$-$6 keV$_{ee}$ primarily due to radioactive contamination in the crystals. Given this level of background and considering that the SABRE South has a target mass of 50 kg, we expect to exclude (confirm) DAMA/LIBRA modulation at $4~(5)σ$ within 2.5 years of data taking.

The scintillation mechanism in NaI:Tl crystals produces different pulse shapes that are dependent on the incoming particle type. The time distribution of scintillation light from nuclear recoil events decays faster than for electron recoil events and this difference can be categorised using various Pulse Shape Discrimination (PSD) techniques. In this study, we measured nuclear and electron recoils in a NaI:Tl crystal, with electron equivalent energies between 2 and 40 keV. We report on a new PSD approach, based on an event-type likelihood; this outperforms the charge-weighted mean-time, which is the conventional metric for PSD in NaI:Tl. Furthermore, we show that a linear combination of the two methods improves the discrimination power at these energies.

Zero factorial, defined to be one, is often counterintuitive to students but nonetheless an interesting concept to convey in a classroom environment. The challenge is to delineate the concept in a simple and effective way through the practice of justification, a familiar concept in mathematics and science education. In this regard two algebraic and one statistical justification using the squeeze theorem are presented. To assess the effectiveness of the justifications, a student survey was conducted at a comprehensive university incorporating the analysis of the pre- and post-presentation statements. They clearly present that the justifications are useful in giving credence to zero factorial equals one. Overall, the results from the online survey supports that the students preferred Justification 1. The justifications provide instructors alternative ways to initiate exploration of students' intuitive set up of comprehending unobvious facts like zero factorial equals one.
For a range of learners with their varied abilities to perform various mental activities most closely associated with learning and problem-solving, the justifications as simple alternative methods offer the potential to raise the current level of cognitive skills to inspire differentiated paths of learning. These are evident from survey results noting the role of statistical thinking and techniques.

We have performed measurements of sodium nuclear recoils in NaI:Tl crystals, following scattering by neutrons produced in a $^{7}$Li(p,n)$^{7}$Be reaction. Understanding the light output from such recoils, which is reduced relative to electrons of equivalent energy by the quenching factor, is critical to interpret dark matter experiments that search for nuclear scattering interactions. We have developed a spectrum-fitting methodology to extract the quenching factor from our measurements, and report quenching factors for nuclear recoil energies between 36 and 401 keV. Our results agree with other recent quenching factor measurements that use quasi-monoenergetic neutron sources. The new method will be applied in the future to the NaI:Tl crystals used in the SABRE experiment.

This article encloses some results on nonncommutative analogue of nonabelian equations of Langmuir oscillations. One of the main contributions of this work is to construct the Darbboux transformation for the solution of that equation in noncommutative framework incorporating associated discrete Lax system. Further the standard Darboux transformation on arbitrary eigenfunctions of the Lax system are presented in quasideterminants for few index values. Moreover, these computations include the derivation of noncommutative version of nonabelian discrete nonlinear Schr$\ddot{o}$dinger which coincides with its classical model under commutative limit. The end portion of this article reveals the identity of noncommutative formalism incorporating a derivation of an equation of motion which coincides with its existing commutative form in background zero value of spectral parameter.

Ultra-pure NaI(Tl) crystals are the key element for a model-independent verification of the long standing DAMA result and a powerful means to search for the annual modulation signature of dark matter interactions. The SABRE collaboration has been develo** cutting-edge techniques for the reduction of intrinsic backgrounds over several years. In this paper we report the first characterization of a 3.4 kg crystal, named NaI-33, performed in an underground passive shielding setup at LNGS. NaI-33 has a record low $^{39}$K contamination of 4.3$\pm$0.2 ppb as determined by mass spectrometry. We measured a light yield of 11.1$\pm$0.2 photoelectrons/keV and an energy resolution of 13.2% (FWHM/E) at 59.5 keV. We evaluated the activities of $^{226}$Ra and $^{228}$Th inside the crystal to be $5.9\pm0.6 μ$Bq/kg and $1.6\pm0.3 μ$Bq/kg, respectively, which would indicate a contamination from $^{238}$U and $^{232}$Th at part-per-trillion level. We measured an activity of 0.51$\pm$0.02 mBq/kg due to $^{210}$Pb out of equilibrium and a $α$ quenching factor of 0.63$\pm$0.01 at 5304 keV. We illustrate the analyses techniques developed to reject electronic noise in the lower part of the energy spectrum. A cut-based strategy and a multivariate approach indicated a rate, attributed to the intrinsic radioactivity of the crystal, of $\sim$1 count/day/kg/keV in the [5-20] keV region.

SABRE (Sodium-iodide with Active Background REjection) is a direct dark matter search experiment based on an array of radio-pure NaI(Tl) crystals surrounded by a liquid scintillator veto. Twin SABRE experiments in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres will differentiate a dark matter signal from seasonal and local effects. The experiment is currently in a Proof-of-Principle (PoP) phase, whose goal is to demonstrate that the background rate is low enough to carry out an independent search for a dark matter signal, with sufficient sensitivity to confirm or refute the DAMA result during the following full-scale experimental phase. The impact of background radiation from the detector materials and the experimental site needs to be carefully investigated, including both intrinsic and cosmogenically activated radioactivity. Based on the best knowledge of the most relevant sources of background, we have performed a detailed Monte Carlo study evaluating the expected background in the dark matter search spectral region. The simulation model described in this paper guides the design of the full-scale experiment and will be fundamental for the interpretation of the measured background and hence for the extraction of a possible dark matter signal.

SABRE aims to directly measure the annual modulation of the dark matter interaction rate with NaI(Tl) crystals. A modulation compatible with the standard hypothesis in which our Galaxy is embedded in a dark matter halo has been measured by the DAMA experiment in the same target material. Other direct detection experiments, using different target materials, seem to exclude the interpretation of such modulation in the simplest scenario of WIMP-nucleon elastic scattering. The SABRE experiment aims to carry out an independent search with sufficient sensitivity to confirm or refute the DAMA claim. The SABRE concept and goal is to obtain a background rate of the order of 0.1 cpd/kg/keVee in the energy region of interest. This challenging goal is achievable by operating high-purity crystals inside a liquid scintillator veto for active background rejection. In addition, twin detectors will be located in the northern and southern hemispheres to identify possible contributions to the modulation from seasonal or site-related effects. The SABRE project includes an initial Proof-of-Principle phase at LNGS (Italy), to assess the radio-purity of the crystals and the efficiency of the liquid scintillator veto. This paper describes the general concept of SABRE and the expected sensitivity to WIMP annual modulation.

I also derive the quasideterminant solutions of the non-commutative Painlevé II equation by taking the Toda solutions at $ n=1 $ as a seed solution in its Darboux transformations. Further by iteration, I generalize the Darboux transformations of the seed solutions to $ N$-th form. At the end I describe the zero curvature representation of quantum Painlevé II equation that involves Planck constant $ \hbar $ explicitly and system reduces to the classical Painlevé II when $ \hbar \rightarrow 0 $.

The extension of Painlevé equations to noncommutative spaces has been considering extensively in the theory of integrable systems and it is also interesting to explore some remarkable aspects of these equations such as Painlevé property, Lax representation, Darboux transformation and their connection to well know integrable equations. This paper is devoted to the Lax formulation, Darboux transformation and Quasideterminant solution of noncommutative Painlevé second equation which is recently introduced by V. Retakh and V. Rubtsov.
