Motivated by the recent experimental results of branching fractions for D_((s))^+ arrows η^((')) l^+ ν_l decays, which deviate from their SM predictions, we have investigated these decays in W' model and scalar leptoquark model to find possible signatures of new physics (NP) in semileptonic charm decays induced by c arrow(s,d)l {nu}_l transitions. Using recent experimental results of branching fractions for semileptonic D meson decays, new coupling parameters are predicted for the above NP models. Branching fraction, forward-backward asymmetry and lepton polarization asymmetry are studied taking the predicted NP coupling parameters. Results of branching fractions in scalar leptoquark model are found very close to the experimental results and exist around the range 1{sigma} deviation. We have presented a comparative study of the NP models to check their sensitivity on these decays. We anticipate that further research on these decays will significantly support our findings.

In this work, we consider an initial-boundary value problem for a time-fractional biharmonic equation in a bounded convex polygonal domain in $\mathbb{R}^2$ with clamped boundary conditions. After establishing the well-posedness, we focus on some regularity results of the solution with respect to the regularity of the problem data. The spatially semidiscrete scheme covers several popular lowest-order piecewise-quadratic finite element schemes, namely, Morley, discontinuous Galerkin, and $C^0$ interior penalty methods, and includes both smooth and nonsmooth initial data. Optimal order error bounds with respect to the regularity assumptions on the data are proved for both homogeneous and nonhomogeneous problems. The numerical experiments validate the theoretical convergence rate results.

We reduce the number of the form factors using the improved Isgur-Wise relations. We study the observables in the standard model (SM) as well as in non-universal Z^' model. The predicted values are very interesting for the high energy physics community and results might provide prominent footprints of NP.

In this communication, we introduce a new statistical model and study its various mathematical properties. The expressions for hazard rate, reversed hazard rate, and odd functions are provided. We explore the asymptotic behaviors of the density and hazard functions of the newly proposed model. Further, moments, median, quantile, and mode are obtained. The cumulative distribution and density functions of the general $k$th order statistic are provided. Sufficient conditions, under which the likelihood ratio order between two inverse generalized linear failure rate (IGLFR) distributed random variables holds, are derived. In addition to these results, we introduce several estimates for the parameters of IGLFR distribution. The maximum likelihood and maximum product spacings estimates are proposed. Bayes estimates are calculated with respect to the squared error loss function. Further, asymptotic confidence and Bayesian credible intervals are obtained. To observe the performance of the proposed estimates, we carry out a Monte Carlo simulation using $R$ software. Finally, two real-life data sets are considered for the purpose of illustration.

Since the social media texts are not in one language and are largely code-mixed in nature, the traditional sentiment classification models fail to produce acceptable results. This paper tries to solve this very research problem and uses bi-directional LSTMs along with language tagging, to facilitate sentiment tagging of code-mixed Tamil texts that have been extracted from social media. The presented algorithm, when evaluated on the test data, garnered precision, recall, and F1 scores of 0.59, 0.66, and 0.58 respectively.

Code-mixed texts are widespread nowadays due to the advent of social media. Since these texts combine two languages to formulate a sentence, it gives rise to various research problems related to Natural Language Processing. In this paper, we try to excavate one such problem, namely, Parts of Speech tagging of code-mixed texts. We have built a system that can POS tag English-Bengali code-mixed data where the Bengali words were written in Roman script. Our approach initially involves the collection and cleaning of English-Bengali code-mixed tweets. These tweets were used as a development dataset for building our system. The proposed system is a modular approach that starts by tagging individual tokens with their respective languages and then passes them to different POS taggers, designed for different languages (English and Bengali, in our case). Tags given by the two systems are later joined together and the final result is then mapped to a universal POS tag set. Our system was checked using 100 manually POS tagged code-mixed sentences and it returned an accuracy of 75.29%

The use of multilingualism in the new generation is widespread in the form of code-mixed data on social media, and therefore a robust translation system is required for catering to the monolingual users, as well as for easier comprehension by language processing models. In this work, we present a translation framework that uses a translation-transliteration strategy for translating code-mixed data into their equivalent monolingual instances. For converting the output to a more fluent form, it is reordered using a target language model. The most important advantage of the proposed framework is that it does not require a code-mixed to monolingual parallel corpus at any point. On testing the framework, it achieved BLEU and TER scores of 16.47 and 55.45, respectively. Since the proposed framework deals with various sub-modules, we dive deeper into the importance of each of them, analyze the errors and finally, discuss some improvement strategies.

In the present article, we identified the qualitative differences between Statistical Machine Translation (SMT) and Neural Machine Translation (NMT) outputs. We have tried to answer two important questions: 1. Does NMT perform equivalently well with respect to SMT and 2. Does it add extra flavor in improving the quality of MT output by employing simple sentences as training units. In order to obtain insights, we have developed three core models viz., SMT model based on Moses toolkit, followed by character and word level NMT models. All of the systems use English-Hindi and English-Bengali language pairs containing simple sentences as well as sentences of other complexity. In order to preserve the translations semantics with respect to the target words of a sentence, we have employed soft-attention into our word level NMT model. We have further evaluated all the systems with respect to the scenarios where they succeed and fail. Finally, the quality of translation has been validated using BLEU and TER metrics along with manual parameters like fluency, adequacy etc. We observed that NMT outperforms SMT in case of simple sentences whereas SMT outperforms in case of all types of sentence.

Analysis of informative contents and sentiments of social users has been attempted quite intensively in the recent past. Most of the systems are usable only for monolingual data and fails or gives poor results when used on data with code-mixing property. To gather attention and encourage researchers to work on this crisis, we prepared gold standard Bengali-English code-mixed data with language and polarity tag for sentiment analysis purposes. In this paper, we discuss the systems we prepared to collect and filter raw Twitter data. In order to reduce manual work while annotation, hybrid systems combining rule based and supervised models were developed for both language and sentiment tagging. The final corpus was annotated by a group of annotators following a few guidelines. The gold standard corpus thus obtained has impressive inter-annotator agreement obtained in terms of Kappa values. Various metrics like Code-Mixed Index (CMI), Code-Mixed Factor (CF) along with various aspects (language and emotion) also qualitatively polled the code-mixed and sentiment properties of the corpus.

The problem of synchronization of coupled Hamiltonian systems exhibits interesting features due to the non-uniform or mixed nature (regular and chaotic) of the phase space. We study these features by investigating the synchronization of unidirectionally coupled area-preserving maps coupled by the Pecora-Carroll method. We find that coupled standard maps show complete synchronization for values of the nonlinearity parameter at which regular structures are still present in phase space. The distribution of synchronization times has a power law tail indicating long synchronization times for at least some of the synchronizing trajectories. With the introduction of coherent structures using parameter perturbation in the system, this distribution crosses over to exponential behavior, indicating shorter synchronization times, and the number of initial conditions which synchronize increases significantly, indicating an enhancement in the basin of synchronization. On the other hand, coupled blinking vortex maps display both phase synchronization and phase slips, depending on the location of the initial conditions. We discuss the implication of our results.
