We investigate the status of the gravitational arrow of time in the case of a spherical collapse of a fluid that conducts heat and radiates energy. In particular, we examine the results obtained by W. B. Bonnor in his 1985 paper where he found that the gravitational arrow of time was opposite to the thermodynamic arrow of time. The measure of gravitational epoch function $P$ used by Bonnor was given by the ratio of the Weyl square to the Ricci square. In this paper, we have assumed the measure of gravitational entropy $P_{1}$ to be given by the ratio of the Weyl scalar to the Kretschmann scalar. Our analysis indicates that Bonnor's result seems to be validated, i.e., the gravitational arrow and the thermodynamic arrow of time point in opposite directions. This strengthens the opinion that the Weyl proposal of gravitational entropy applies only to the universe as a whole (provided that we exclude the white holes).

The Milky Way galaxy is estimated to be home to ten million to a billion stellar-mass black holes (BHs). Accurately determining this number and distribution of BH masses can provide crucial information about the processes involved in BH formation, the possibility of the existence of primordial BHs, and interpreting gravitational wave (GW) signals detected in LIGO-VIRGO-KAGRA. Sahu et al. recently confirmed one isolated stellar-mass BH in our galaxy using astrometric microlensing. This work proposes a novel method to identify such BHs using the gravitational analog of the Gertsenshtein-Zel'dovich (GZ) effect. We explicitly demonstrate the generation of GWs when a kilohertz(kHz) electromagnetic (EM) pulse from a pulsar is intervened by a spherically symmetric compact object situated between the pulsar and Earth. Specifically, we show that the curvature of spacetime acts as the catalyst, akin to the magnetic field in the GZ effect. Using the covariant semi-tetrad formalism, we quantify the GW generated from the EM pulse through the Regge-Wheeler tensor and express the amplitude of the generated GW in terms of the EM energy and flux. We demonstrate how GW detectors can detect stellar-mass BHs by considering known pulsars within our galaxy. This approach has a distinct advantage in detecting stellar mass BHs at larger distances since the GW amplitude falls as $1/r$.

This paper investigates the flat Friedmann-Lema$\hat{\imath}$tre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) cosmological model using a suitable parameterization represented as a differential equation concerning the energy density of the scalar field, $ρ_φ$, in the context of $f(R,T)$ gravity theory. This parameterization is known as the Energy Density Scalar Field Differential Equation (EDSFD) parametrization. It results in a solution of the Hubble parameter containing four model parameters, namely, $Ω_{m0},Ω_{φ0}, H_0,$ and $α$. To constrain the model parameters, $77$ data points from the Hubble dataset, $1048$ points from the Pantheon dataset, and $6$ data points from BAO are used. Using the constrained values, we analyze and compare our model with the standard $Λ$CDM model. The evolution of the physical parameters, which includes the deceleration parameter, density parameter, Equation of State (EoS) for Dark Energy, and $Om(z)$ diagnostic, are discussed.

The exterior spacetime of the charged object is described by the Reissner-Nordström metric. The interior solution is obtained by invoking the Buchdahl-Vaidya-Tikekar ansatz, for the metric potential $g_{rr}$, which has a clear geometric interpretation. A detailed physical analysis of the model clearly shows distinct physical features of the resulting stellar configuration under such a modification. We find the maximum compactness bound for such a class of compact stars which is a generalization of the Buchdahl bound for a charged sphere described in $f(R,T)$ gravity. Our result shows physical behaviour that is distinct from general relativity.

Exact solutions describing rotating black holes can provide significant opportunities for testing modified theories of gravity, which are motivated by the challenges posed by dark energy and dark matter. Starting with a spherical Kiselev black hole as a seed metric, we construct rotating Kiselev black holes within the $f(R,T)$ gravity framework using the revised Newman-Janis algorithm - the $f(R,T)$ gravity-motivated rotating Kiselev black holes (FRKBH), which encompasses, as exceptional cases, Kerr ($K=0$) and Kerr-Newman ($K=Q^2$) black holes. These solutions give rise to distinct classes of black holes surrounded by fluids while considering specific values of the equation-of-state parameter, $w$, for viable choices for the $f(R,T)$ function. From the parameter space or domain of existence of black holes defined by $a$ and $γ$ for FKRBH, we discover that when $a_1<a<a_2$, there is a critical value $γ=γ_E$ which corresponds to extreme value black holes portrayed by degenerate horizons. When $a<a_1$ ($a>a_2$), we encounter two distinct critical values $γ=γ_{E1}, \; γ_{E2}$ with $γ_{E1}>γ_{E2}$ (or $γ=γ_{E3},\; γ_{E4}$ with $γ_{E3}>γ_{E4}$. We delve into the horizon and global structure of FKRBH spacetimes and examine their dependence on parameters $w$ and $γ$. This exploration is motivated by the remarkable effects of $f(R,T)$ gravity, which gives rise to diverse and intricate spacetime structures within the domain where black holes exist.

However, as we show in this paper, such scenarios are possible for limited classes of equations of state that are solutions to a highly non-linear and fourth order differential equation. To show this, we use a covariant semitetrad spacetime decomposition and present a novel geometrical classification of shear-free Locally Rotationally Symmetric (LRS-II) perfect fluid self-gravitating systems, in terms of the covariantly defined fluid acceleration and the fluid expansion. The Sgr A* shadow size is within $~10\%$ of the Kerr predictions, providing us with another tool to investigate the nature of strong-field gravity. We use the Sgr A* shadow observables to constrain metrics of four independent and well-motivated, parametrically different from Kerr spacetime, rotating regular spacetimes, and the corresponding no-horizon spacetimes. We present constraints on the deviation parameter $g$ of rotating regular black holes. The shadow angular diameter $θ_{sh}$ within $1 σ$ region, places bounds on the parameters $a$ and $g$. Together with EHT bounds on $θ_{sh}$ and $δ$ of Sgr A*, our analysis concludes that the three rotating regular black holes, viz., Bardeen Hayward, and Simpson-Visser black holes, and corresponding no-horizon spacetimes agree with the EHT results of Sgr A*. Thus, these three rotating regular spacetimes and Kerr black holes are indiscernible in some parameter space, and one can not rule out the possibility of the former being strong candidates for astrophysical black holes.

The restoration factor of this hyperbolic travelling wave equation allows us to construct a geometric measure of complexity. This measure depends critically on the Gaussian curvature, and we demonstrate this geometric connection to complexity for the first time. We illustrate the utility of this measure by classifying well known spherically symmetric metrics with different matter distributions. We also define an order structure on the set of all spherically symmetric spacetimes, according to their complexity and physical properties.

We study the stability of circular orbits in the background of a traversable wormhole (TWH) spacetime obtained as a solution of Einstein's field equations coupled conformally to a massless scalar field. The Lyapunov stability approach is employed to determine the stability of circular orbits (timelike and null) of non-spinning test particles around a TWH spacetime. In the case of timelike geodesics, the particle is confined to move in four different types of effective potentials depending on various values of the angular momentum L with both centrifugal and gravitational part. The effective potential for null geodesics consists of only a centrifugal part. Further, we characterize each fixed point according to its Lyapunov stability, and thus classify the circular orbits at the fixed point into stable center and unstable saddle points by depicting the corresponding phase-portraits.

We study the dynamics of test particle and stability of circular geodesics in the gravitational field of a non-commutative geometry inspired Schwarzschild black hole spacetime (NCSBH). The coordinate time Lyapunov exponent ($λ_{c}$) is crucial to investigate the stability of equatorial circular geodesics of massive and massless test particles. The stability or instability of circular orbits are discussed by analysing the variation of Lyapunov exponent with radius of these orbits for different values of non-commutative parameter ($α$). In the case of null circular orbits, the instability exponent is calculated and presented to discuss the instability of null circular orbits. Further, by relating parameters corresponding to null circular geodesics (i.e. angular frequency and Lyapunov exponent), the quasinormal modes (QNMs) for a massless scalar field perturbation in the eikonal approximation are evaluated, and also visualised by relating the real and imaginary parts. The nature of scalar field potential, by varying the non-commutative parameter ($α$) and angular momentum of perturbation ($l$), are also observed and discussed.

Observation indicates that many nearby galaxies host supermassive central black holes. Modelling Bardeen models in four-dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (4D EGB) gravity, with additional parameters $\tildeα$ and charge $q$, as central black holes in various galaxies, we investigate gravitational lensing properties in strong deflection limits. Interestingly, the spherical photon orbit radius $x_m$, the critical impact parameter $u_m$, the lensing coefficient $\bar{b}$, the deflection angle $α_D(θ)$, angular position $θ_{\infty}$ are decreasing with $q$ and $α$ whereas the other lensing coefficient $\bar{a}$ and angular separation $s$ have opposite behaviour. Taking the supermassive black holes Sgr A* and M87* as the lens, we also compare observable signatures of 4D EGB Bardeen black holes with those of the Schwarzschild black holes. The angular position $θ_\infty$ for Sgr A* $\in$ (23.1853, \; 25.56427) $μ$as, whereas for M87* it is $\in$ ( 17.941,\; 19.7819) $μ$as. Further, the angular separation $s$, which is an increasing function of $\tildeα$ and $q$ for Sgr A* and M87* differs significantly, respectively, in (0.031997,0.14895) $μ$as and (0.0247, 0.1152) $μ$as. The deviations of the lensing observables $Δθ_{\infty}$ and $Δs$ for 4D EGB Bardeen black hole ($\tildeα=0.9,~q=0.09$) from the Schwarzschild black hole, respectively, can reach up to $2.3789~μ$as and $0.11695~μ$as for Sgr A* , $1.84084~μ$as and $0.0905~μ$as for M87*. On the other hand, the relative magnification $\in$ (4.65751,\; 6.82173). Considering twenty-two massive central black holes as lens, we also estimate the time delay $ΔT^s_{2,1}$ between the first and second relativistic image to find that, e.g., the time delay for Sgr A* and M87*, respectively, can reach $\sim9.86088$~min and $\sim16023.93$~min.

We investigate the existence and stability of both the timelike and null circular orbits for a (2+1) dimensional charged BTZ black hole in Einstein-nonlinear Maxwell gravity with a negative cosmological constant. The stability analysis of orbits are performed to study the possibility of chaos in geodesic motion for a special case of black hole so-called conformally invariant Maxwell spacetime. The computations of both proper time Lyapunov exponent ($λ_{p}$) and coordinate time Lyapunov exponent ($λ_{c}$) are useful to determine the stability of these circular orbits. We observe the behavior of the ratio $(λ_{p}/λ_{c})$ as a function of radius of circular orbits for the timelike case in view of different values of charge parameter. However, for the null case, we calculate only the coordinate time Lyapunov exponent ($λ_{c}$) as there is no proper time for massless test particles. More specifically, we further analyze the behavior of the ratio of $λ_{Null}$ to angular frequency ($Ω_{c}$), so-called instability exponent as a function of charge ($q$) and parameter related to cosmological constant ($l$) for the particular values of other parameters.

We present the axially symmetric counterpart of an existing spherical hairy black hole in Horndeski gravity having an additional deviation parameter $Q$, which encompasses the Kerr black hole as a particular case ($Q=0$). We investigate the effect of Horndeski parameter $Q$ on the rotating black holes' geometry and analytically deduce the gravitational deflection angle of light in the weak-field limit. For the S2 source star, the deflection angle for the Sgr A* model of the rotating Horndeski gravity black hole for both prograde and retrograde photons is larger than the Kerr black hole values. We show how parameter $Q$ could be constrained by astrophysical implications of the lensing of this object. The thermodynamic quantities, Komar mass, and Komar angular momentum gets corrected by the parameter $Q$, but the Smarr relation $M_{\text{eff}}=2ST+2ΩJ_{\text{eff}}$ still holds at the event horizon.

We show that a general but shear-free perturbation of homogeneous and isotropic universes are necessarily silent, without any gravitational waves. We prove this in two steps. First we establish that a shear free perturbation of these universes are acceleration-free and the fluid flow geodesics of the background universe maps onto themselves in the perturbed universe. This effect then decouples the evolution equations of the electric and magnetic parts of the Weyl tensor in the perturbed spacetimes and the magnetic part no longer contains any tensor modes. Although the electric part, that drives the tidal forces, do have tensor modes sourced by the anisotropic stress, these modes have homogeneous oscillations at every point on a time slice without any wave propagation. We also show the presence of vorticity vector waves that are sourced by the curl of heat flux. This analysis shows the critical role of the shear tensor in generating cosmological gravitational waves in an expanding universe.

In this case the component of any homothetic Killing vector along the $z$ direction must be constant. Firstly, it is shown that either the component along the radial direction is constant or we have the proportionality $g_{φφ}\propto g_{ρρ}$, where $g_{φφ}>0$. In both cases, complete analyses are carried out and the general forms of the homothetic Killing vectors are determined. The associated conformal factors are also obtained. The case of vanishing twist in the metric, i.e., $ω= 0$ is considered and the complete forms of the homothetic Killing vectors are determined, as well as the associated conformal factors.

In this paper we consider conformally flat perturbations on the Friedmann Lemaitre Robertson Walker (FLRW) spacetime containing a general matter field. Working with the linearised field equations, we unearth some important geometrical properties of matter shear and vorticity and how they interact with the thermodynamical quantities in the absence of any free gravity powered by the Weyl curvature. As there are hardly any physically realistic rotating exact conformally flat solutions in general relativity, these covariant and gauge invariant results bring out transparently the role of vorticity in the linearised regime. Most interestingly, we demonstrate that the matter shear obeys a transverse traceless tensor wave equation, and the vorticity obeys a vector wave equation in this regime. These shear and vorticity waves replace the gravitational waves in the sense that they causally carry the information about local change in the curvature of these spacetimes.

The approach is purely geometrical and depends on matching the Gaussian curvature of 2-dimensional sheets at the matching hypersurface. This also provides the constraints on the thermodynamic quantities on each spacetime so that they can be matched smoothly across the surface. The functional form of f(G)-gravity is determined which accommodates the early inflation and late accelerating phases without matter.

We study superdense relativistic stars with anisotropic matter distributions with spheroidal spatial hypersurfaces. We propose a methodology to make an anisotropic generalization of the Vaidya-Tikekar superdense star model. The anisotropic Einstein field equations can be solved in terms of hypergeometric functions for our choice of gravitational potential and anisotropy. Particular parameter choices allow us to generate models of anisotropic stars in terms of elementary functions. Also, isotropic stars can be generated in the limit of vanishing anisotropy. In particular, we obtain the well known superdense models of Tikekar which are isotropic and have specific spheroidal geometries. The impact of anisotropy on the gross physical behaviour of a compact star is studied.

This relates charge distribution to the Vaidya-Tikekar parameter, $k$, indicating deviation form sphericity of three dimensional space when embedded into four dimensional Euclidean space. The model is examined against all the physical conditions required for a relativistic charged fluid sphere as an interior to a charged star. We also obtain and discuss charged analogue of the Buchdahl compactness bound.

The spacetime singularities in classical general relativity predicted by the celebrated singularity theorems are formed at the end of gravitational collapse. Quantum gravity is the expected theory to resolve the singularity problem, but we are now far from it. Therefore attention has shifted to models of regular black holes free from the singularities. A spherically symmetric regular toy model was obtained by Dymnikova (1992) which we demonstrate as an exact solution of Einstein's field equations coupled to nonlinear electrodynamics for a Lagrangian with parameter $b$ related to magnetic charge. We construct rotating counterpart of this solution which encompasses the Kerr black hole as a special case when charge is switched off ($b=0$). Event Horizon Telescope has released the first image of supermassive black hole M87$^*$, revealing the structure near black hole horizon. The rotating regular black hole's shadow may be useful to determine strong field regime. We investigate ergosphere and black hole shadow of rotating regular black hole to infer that their sizes are sensitive to charge $b$ and have a richer chaotic structure. In particular, rotating regular black hole possess larger size, but less distorted shadows when compared with Kerr black holes. We find one to one correspondence between ergosphere and shadow of the black hole.

Recently several ways have been proposed for regularizing, a $ D \to 4 $ limit of EGB, for nontrivial gravitational dynamics in $ 4D $. Motivated by the importance of anti-de Sitter gravity/conformal field theory correspondence (AdS/CFT), we analyze black holes with AdS asymptotic to regularized $4D$ EGB gravity coupled to the nonlinear electrodynamics (NED) field. For a static spherically symmetric \textit{ansatz} the field equations are solved exactly, using two different approaches, for a NED Lagrangian to obtain an identical solution$-$namely NED charged AdS black holes in $4D$ EGB gravity which retains several known solutions. Owing to the NED charge corrected EGB black holes, the thermodynamic quantities are also modified, and the entropy does not obey the usual area law. We calculate the heat capacity and Helmholtz free energy, in terms of horizon radii, to investigate both local and global thermodynamic stability of black holes. We observe a secondary Hawking-Page transition between the smaller thermally favoured black hole and thermal AdS space. Our results show that the behaviour of Hawking's evaporation abruptly halts at shorter radii regime such that the black holes do have a thermodynamically stable remnant with vanishing temperature.

We study quasinormal modes (QNMs) in 5D electrically charged Bardeen black holes spacetime by considering the scalar and electromagnetic field perturbations. The black holes spacetime is an exact solution of Einstein gravity coupled to nonlinear electrodynamics in five dimensions, which has nonsingular behavior. To calculate QNMs, we use the WKB approximation method up to sixth order. Due to the presence of electric charge $q_e > 0$, both the scalar and electromagnetic field perturbations decay more slowly when compared to the Schwarzschild-Tangherlini black holes. We discover that the scalar field perturbations oscillate more rapidly when compared to the electromagnetic field perturbations. In terms of dam**, the scalar field perturbations damp more quickly. Graphically we show that the transmission (reflection) coefficients decrease (increase) with an increase in the magnitude of the electric charge $q_e$. The emission of gravitational waves allows spacetime to undergo damped oscillations due to the nonzero value of the imaginary part, which is always negative. The imaginary part of the QNMs frequencies is continuously decreasing with an increase in the magnitude of the electric charge $q_e$ for a given mode ($l,n$). A connection between the QNMs frequencies and the black hole shadow, as well as the geometric cross-section in the eikonal limit, is also described.

We derive a rotating counterpart of the five-dimensional electrically charged Bardeen regular black holes spacetime by employing the Giampieri algorithm on static one. The associated nonlinear electrodynamics source is computed in order to justify the rotating solution. We thoroughly discuss the energy conditions and the other properties of the rotating spacetime. The black hole thermodynamics of the rotating spacetime is also presented. In particular, the thermodynamic quantities such as the Hawking temperature and the heat capacity are calculated and plotted to see the thermal behavior. The Hawking temperature profile of the black hole implies that the regular black holes are thermally colder than its singular counterpart. On the other hand, we find that the heat capacity has two branches: the negative branch corresponds to the unstable phase and the positive branch corresponds to that of the stable phase for a suitable choice of the physical parameters characterizing the black holes.

Low energy limits of string theory indicated that the standard gravity action should be modified to include higher-order curvature terms, in the form of dimensionally continued Gauss-Bonnet densities. If one includes only quadratic curvature terms then the resulting theory is Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) gravity valid only in $D>4$ dimensions. Recently there has been a surge of interest in regularizing, a $ D \to 4 $ limit, of EGB gravity, and the resulting regularized $4D$ EGB gravities have nontrivial gravitational dynamics. We obtain a static spherically symmetric noncommutative (NC) geometry inspired black hole solution with Gaussian mass distribution as a source in the regularized $4D$ EGB and also analyze their properties. The metric of the NC inspired $4D$ EGB black hole smoothly interpolates between a de Sitter core around the origin and $4D$ EGB metric as $r/\sqrtθ \to \infty$. Owing to the NC and GB term corrected black hole, the thermodynamic quantities have also been altered. The phase transitions for the local thermodynamic stability, in the theory, is outlined by a discontinuity of specific heat $C_{+}$ at a critical radius $r_+=r_C$, and $C_{+}$ changes from infinitely negative to infinitely positive and then down to a finite positive for the smaller $r_+$. The thermal evaporation process leads to a thermodynamic stable extremal black hole with vanishing temperature.

Extending a previous work by the same authors, we investigate the existence of expansion-free dynamical stars with non-zero spatial twist and rotation and show that such stars cannot exist. Firstly, it is shown that a rotating expansion-free dynamical star with zero twist cannot exist. This is due to the fact that such stars cannot radiate and they are shear-free, in which case the energy density $ρ$ is time independent. Secondly, we prove that a non-rotating expansion-free dynamical star with non-zero spatial twist also cannot exist, as either the strong energy condition must be violated, i.e. $ρ+3p<0$, or the star must be shear-free in which case the star is static ($Θ=Ω=Σ=0$). Finally, if we insist that the rotation and spatial twist are simultaneously non-zero, then the star cannot be shear-free in which case we obtain a quadratic polynomial equation in $φ$ and $Σ$ with no real solutions. Therefore such stars cannot exist.

Recently it has been shown that the Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) gravity, by rescaling the coupling constant as $α/(D-4)$ and taking the limit $D \rightarrow 4$ at the level of the equations of motion, becomes nontrivially ghost-free in $4D$ - namely the novel $4D$ EGB gravity. We present an exact charged black hole solution to the theory surrounded by clouds of string (CS) and also analyze their thermodynamic properties to calculate exact expressions for the black hole mass, temperature, and entropy. Owing to the corrected black hole due to the background CS, the thermodynamic quantities have also been corrected except for the entropy, which remains unaffected by a CS background. However, as a result of the novel $4D$ EGB theory, the Bekenstein-Hawking area law turns out to be corrected by a logarithmic area term. The heat capacity $C_+$ diverges at a critical radius $r=r_C$, where incidentally the temperature has a maximum, and the Hawking-Page transitions even in absence of the cosmological term and $C_+ > 0$ for $r_+ < r_C$ allowing the black hole to become thermodynamically stable. In addition, the smaller black holes are globally preferred with negative free energy $F_+<0$. Our solution can also be identified as a $4D$ monopole-charged EGB black hole. We regain results of spherically symmetric black hole solutions of general relativity and that of novel $4D$ EGB, respectively, in the limits $α\to 0$ and $a=0$.

Our solution represents radiating black holes and regains, in the limit $α\rightarrow 0$, the famous Vaidya black hole of general relativity (GR). We discuss the horizon structure of black hole solutions to find that the three horizon-like loci that characterizes its structure, viz. $AH$, $EH$ and $ TLS $ have the relationship $r_{EH} < r_{AH} = r_{TLS}$. The charged radiating black holes in the theory, generalizing Bonnor-Vaidya black holes, are also considered. These solutions, with an additional parameter $g$ apart from the mass $M$, represent black holes with Cauchy and event horizons, extremal black holes with degenerate horizons or no black holes in the absence of the horizons, and encompasses as a special case Boulware-Deser black holes which can be recovered in the absence of magnetic charge ($g=0$). Owing to the NED corrected black hole, the thermodynamic quantities have also been modified and we have obtained exact analytical expressions for the thermodynamical quantities such the Hawking temperature $T_+$, the entropy $S_+$, the specific heat $C_+$, and the Gibbs free energy $F_+$. The heat capacity diverges at a critical radius $r=r_C$, where incidentally the temperature has a maximum, and the Hawking-Page transitions even in absence of the cosmological term. The thermal evaporation process leads to eternal remnants for sufficiently small black holes and evaporates to a thermodynamic stable extremel black hole remnants with vanishing temperature. The heat capacity becomes positive $C_+ > 0$ for $r_+ < r_C$ allowing black hole to become thermodynamically stable, in addition the smaller black holes are globally stable with positive heat capacity $C_+ > 0$ and negative free energy $F_+<0$. The entropy $ S $ of a 5D Bardeen black hole is not longer a quarter of the horizon area $A$, i.e., $S \neq A/4$.

Subsequently we find the most general class of generalised Vaidya mass functions that give rise to such conformal symmetry. From our analysis it is clear that why some well known subclasses of generalised Vaidya geometry, like pure Vaidya or charged Vaidya solutions, admit only homothetic Killing vectors but no proper conformal Killing vectors with non constant conformal factors. We also study the gravitational collapse of generalised Vaidya spacetimes that posses proper conformal symmetry to show that if the central singularity is naked then in the vicinity of the central singularity the spacetime becomes almost self similar. A study of the shadow of charged wormholes reveals that the shadow has an effect of the charges $P$ and $Q$. The radius of the shadow increases with the magnetic charge $P$ as well as the electric charge $Q$. We also find that the dilaton charge does not affect the shadow of the charged wormholes.

However, these spacetimes necessarily require imperfect fluids with entropy flux. Therefore, in this paper, we investigate the existence of these spacetimes in generic f(R)-gravity models, where the entropy flux is generated purely by higher order curvature effects, while the standard matter still remains a perfect fluid. However, we transparently demonstrate here, that the symmetries of these spacetimes force the theory to be general relativity. This is a novel study that shows how the geometrical properties of a spacetime can be used to restrict the theories of gravity.

We obtain a new anisotropic solution for spherically symmetric spacetimes by analysing of the Karmarkar embedding condition. For this purpose we construct a suitable form of one of the gravitational potentials to obtain a closed form solution. This form of the remaining gravitational potential allows us to solve the embedding equation and integrate the field equations. The resulting new anisotropic solution is well behaved which can be utilized to construct realistic static fluid spheres. Also we estimated masses and radii of fluid spheres for LMC X-4 and EXO 1785-248 by using observational data sets values. The obtained masses and radii show that our anisotropic solution can represent fluid spheres to a very good degree of accuracy.

Abstract:
We study a charged compact object with anisotropic pressures in a core envelope setting. The equation of state is quadratic in the core and linear in the envelope. There is smooth matching between the three regions: the core, envelope and the Reissner-Nordström exterior. We study a charged compact object with anisotropic pressures in a core envelope setting. The equation of state is quadratic in the core and linear in the envelope. There is smooth matching between the three regions: the core, envelope and the Reissner-Nordström exterior. We show that the presence of the electric field affects the masses, radii and compactification factors of stellar objects with values which are in agreement with previous studies. We investigate in particular the effect of electric field on the physical features of the pulsar PSR J1614-2230 in the core envelope model. The gravitational potentials and the matter variables are well behaved within the stellar object. We demonstrate that the radius of the core and the envelope can vary by changing the parameters in the speed of sound.

Several new families of exact solution to the Einstein-Maxwell system of differential equations are found for anisotropic charged matter. The spacetime geometry is that of Finch and Skea which satisfies all criteria for physical acceptability. The exact solutions can be expressed in terms of elementary functions, Bessel functions and modified Bessel functions. When a parameter is restricted to be an integer then the special functions reduce to simple elementary functions. The uncharged model of Finch and Skea (Class. Quantum Grav. 6, 467 (1989)) and the charged model of Hansraj and Maharaj (Int. J. Mod. Phys. D 8, 1311 (2006)) are regained as special cases. The solutions found admit a barotropic equation of state. A graphical analysis indicates that the matter and electric quantities are well behaved.

We find new exact solutions to the Einstein-Maxwell field equations which are relevant in the description of highly compact stellar objects. The relativistic star is charged and anisotropic with a quark equation of state. Exact solutions of the field equations are found in terms of elementary functions. It is interesting to note that we regain earlier quark models with uncharged and charged matter distributions. A physical analysis indicates that the matter distributions are well behaved and regular throughout the stellar structure. A range of stellar masses are generated for particular parameter values in the electric field. In particular the observed mass for a binary pulsar is regained.

We systematically analyze the nonlinear partial differential equation that determines the behaviour of a bounded radiating spherical mass in general relativity. Four categories of solution are possible. These are identified in terms of restrictions on the gravitational potentials. One category of solution can be related to the horizon function transformation which was recently introduced. A Lie symmetry analysis of the resulting Riccati equation shows that several new classes of exact solutions are possible. The relationship between the horizon function, Euclidean star models and other earlier investigations is clarified.

We analyze the general model of a radiating star in general relativity. A group analysis of the under determined, nonlinear partial differential equation governing the model's gravitational potentials is performed. This analysis is an extension of previous group analyses carried out and produces new group invariant solutions. We find that the gravitational potentials depend on exponential functions owing to the choice of the Lie symmetry generator. The fundamental boundary equation to be solved is in general a Riccati equation. Several new exact families of solutions to the boundary condition are generated. Earlier models of Euclidean stars and generalized Euclidean stellar models are regained as special cases. Linear equations of state can be found for shear-free and shearing spacetimes.

Abstract:
We consider the scattering of gravitational waves off a Schwarzschild black hole in $f(R)$ gravity. We show that the reflection and transmission coefficients for tensor waves are the same as in General Relativity. While the scalar waves, which are not present in General Relativity, demonstrate interesting features. The equation that governs these scalar waves can be reduced to a Volterra integral…

We show that the reflection and transmission coefficients for tensor waves are the same as in General Relativity. While the scalar waves, which are not present in General Relativity, demonstrate interesting features. The equation that governs these scalar waves can be reduced to a Volterra integral equation. Analysis of this equation shows that a larger fraction of these waves are reflected compared to what one obtains for tensors. This may provide a novel observational signature for fourth order gravity.

We obtain a $5D$ black hole solution in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity surrounded by the quintessence matter, and also analyze their thermodynamical properties. Owing to the quintessence corrected black hole, the thermodynamic quantities have also been corrected except for the black hole entropy, and phase transition is achievable. The phase transition for the thermodynamic stability, is characterized by a discontinuity in the specific heat at $r=r_C$, with the stable (unstable) branch for $r < (>) r_C$.

In particular, we study Friedmann universe assuming that acceleration of the scalar curvature is negligible. We first present solutions for special cases and then the general solution. Using initial conditions which represent the universe at the present epoch, we evaluated the constants of integration. This allows for the comparison of the scale factor in the new solutions with that of the $ΛCDM$ solution, thereby affecting the age of the universe in $f(R)$ gravity.
