Trends, Directions for Further Research, and Some Open Problems of Fractional Calculus
Abstract: The area of fractional calculus (FC) has been fast develo** and is presently being applied in all scientific fields. Therefore, it is of key relevance to assess the present state of development and to foresee, if possible, the future evolution, or, at least, the challenges identified in the scope of advanced research works. This paper gives a vision about the directions for further research as w… ▽ More

A critical analysis of the conformable derivative
Abstract: We prove that conformable ``fractional" differentiability of a function $f:[0,\infty[\,\longrightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is nothing else than the classical differentiability. More precisely, the conformable $α$-derivative of $f$ at some point $x>0$, where $0<α<1$, is the pointwise product $x^{1-α}f^{\prime}(x)$. This proves the lack of significance of recent studies of the conformable derivatives. The r… ▽ More

A new fractional derivative involving the normalized sinc function without singular kernel
Abstract: In this paper, a new fractional derivative involving the normalized sinc function without singular kernel is proposed. The Laplace transform is used to find the analytical solution of the anomalous heat-diffusion problems. The comparative results between classical and fractional-order operators are presented. The results are significant in the analysis of one-dimensional anomalous heat-transfer pr… ▽ More

A new fractional operator of variable order: application in the description of anomalous diffusion
Abstract: In this paper, a new fractional operator of variable order with the use of the monotonic increasing function is proposed in sense of Caputo type. The properties in term of the Laplace and Fourier transforms are analyzed and the results for the anomalous diffusion equations of variable order are discussed. The new formulation is efficient in modeling a class of concentrations in the complex transpo… ▽ More

A new fractional derivative without singular kernel: Application to the modelling of the steady heat flow
Abstract: In this article we propose a new fractional derivative without singular kernel. We consider the potential application for modeling the steady heat-conduction problem. The analytical solution of the fractional-order heat flow is also obtained by means of the Laplace transform.
