Observation of $χ_{cJ}\to Λ\bar Λη$

Abstract: By analyzing $(448.1\pm2.9)\times10^6$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, the decays of $χ_{cJ} \to Λ\bar Λη$ ($J=0$, 1 and 2) are observed for the first time with statistical significances of $13.9σ$, $6.7σ$, and $8.2σ$, respectively. The product branching fractions of $ψ(3686)\toγχ_{cJ}$ and $χ_{cJ}\to Λ\bar Λη$ are measured. The relative phase of the electric and magnetic form factors is determined to be $ΔΦ= (0.667 \pm 0.111 \pm 0.058)$ rad. This is the first measurement of the relative phase for a $ψ(3686)$ decay into a pair of $Ξ^{-}\barΞ^{+}$ hyperons. The $Ξ^{-}$ decay parameters ($α_{Ξ^{-}}$, $φ_{Ξ^-}$) and their conjugates ($α_{\barΞ^{+}}$, $φ_{\barΞ^{+}}$), the angular-distribution parameter $α_ψ$, and the strong-phase difference $δ_{p}-δ_{s}$ for $Λ$-$π^-$ scattering are measured to be consistent with previous BESIII results. △ Less

Measurement of the branching fraction and decay asymmetry of $Λ\to nγ$

Abstract: The radiative hyperon decay $Λ\to nγ$ is studied using $(10087\pm44)\times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII. The absolute branching fraction of the decay $Λ\to nγ$ is determined with a significance of 5.6$σ$ to be $[0.832\pm0.038(\rm stat.)\pm0.054(\rm syst.)]\times10^{-3}$, which lies significantly below the current PDG value. Abstract: The hadronic decay $η_c(2S) \to 3(π^+π^-)$ is observed with a statistical significance of 9.3 standard deviations using $(448.1\pm2.9)\times10^6$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The measured mass and width of $η_c(2S)$ are $(3643.4 \pm 2.3 (\rm stat.) \pm 4.4 (\rm syst.))$ MeV/$c^2$ and $(19.8 \pm 3.9 (\rm stat.) \pm 3.1 (\rm syst.))$ MeV, respectively, wh… ▽ More The hadronic decay $η_c(2S) \to 3(π^+π^-)$ is observed with a statistical significance of 9.3 standard deviations using $(448.1\pm2.9)\times10^6$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The product branching fraction $\mathcal{B}[ψ(3686)\to γη_c(2S)]\times\mathcal{B}[η_c(2S)\to3(π^+π^-)]$ is measured to be $(9.2 \pm 1.0 (\rm stat.) \pm 0.9 (\rm syst.))\times10^{-6}$. Using $\mathcal{B}[ψ(3686)\to γη_c(2S)]=(7.0^{+3.4}_{-2.5})\times10^{-4}$, we obtain $\mathcal{B}[η_c(2S) \to 3(π^+π^-)] = (1.31 \pm 0.15 (\rm stat.) \pm 0.13 (\rm syst.)(^{+0.64}_{-0.47}) (\rm extr))\times10^{-2}$, where the third uncertainty is from $\mathcal{B}[ψ(3686) \to γη_c(2S)]$. We also measure the $χ_{cJ} \to 3(π^+π^-)$ ($J=0, 1, 2$) decays via $ψ(3686) \to γχ_{cJ}$ transitions. The branching fractions are $\mathcal{B}[χ_{c0} \to 3(π^+π^-)] = (2.080\pm0.006 (\rm stat.)\pm0.068 (\rm syst.))\times10^{-2}$, $\mathcal{B}[χ_{c1} \to 3(π^+π^-)] = (1.092\pm0.004 (\rm stat.)\pm0.035 (\rm syst.))\times10^{-2}$, and $\mathcal{B}[χ_{c2} \to 3(π^+π^-)] = (1.565\pm0.005 (\rm stat.)\pm0.048 (\rm syst.))\times10^{-2}$. △ Less

Study of the resonance structures in $e^{+}e^{-} \rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ$ process

Abstract: Using about 23 $\mathrm{fb^{-1}}$ of data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, a precise measurement of the $e^{+}e^{-} \rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ$ Born cross section is performed at center-of-mass energies from 3.7730 to 4.7008 GeV. Two structures, identified as the $Y(4220)$ and the $Y(4320)$ states, are observed in the energy-dependent cross section with a sig… ▽ More Using about 23 $\mathrm{fb^{-1}}$ of data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, a precise measurement of the $e^{+}e^{-} \rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ$ Born cross section is performed at center-of-mass energies from 3.7730 to 4.7008 GeV. Two structures, identified as the $Y(4220)$ and the $Y(4320)$ states, are observed in the energy-dependent cross section with a significance larger than $10σ$. The masses and widths of the two structures are determined to be ($M, Γ$) = ($4221.4\pm1.5\pm2.0$ MeV/$c^{2}$, $41.8\pm2.9\pm2.7$ MeV) and ($M, Γ$) = ($4298\pm12\pm26$ MeV/$c^{2}$, $127\pm17\pm10$ MeV), respectively. A small enhancement around 4.5 GeV with a significance about $3σ$, compatible with the $ψ(4415)$, might also indicate the presence of an additional resonance in the spectrum. The inclusion of this additional contribution in the fit to the cross section affects the resonance parameters of the $Y(4320)$ state. △ Less

Measurements of the absolute branching fractions of hadronic $D$-meson decays involving kaons and pions

Abstract: By analyzing an electron-positron collision data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $2.93\,\rm fb^{-1}$ taken at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we obtain for the first time the absolute branching fractions for seven $D^0$ and $D^+$ hadronic decay modes and search for the hadronic decay $D^0\to K^0_S K^0_Sπ^0$ with much improved sensitivity. The re… ▽ More By analyzing an electron-positron collision data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $2.93\,\rm fb^{-1}$ taken at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we obtain for the first time the absolute branching fractions for seven $D^0$ and $D^+$ hadronic decay modes and search for the hadronic decay $D^0\to K^0_S K^0_Sπ^0$ with much improved sensitivity. The results are ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^0_Sπ^0π^0π^0 )=( 7.64\pm 0.30\pm 0.29)\times 10^{-3}$, ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^-π^+π^0π^0π^0 )=( 9.54\pm 0.30\pm 0.31)\times 10^{-3}$, ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^0_Sπ^+π^-π^0π^0)=(12.66\pm 0.45\pm 0.43)\times 10^{-3}$, ${\mathcal B}(D^+\to K^0_Sπ^+π^0π^0 )=(29.04\pm 0.62\pm 0.87)\times 10^{-3}$, ${\mathcal B}(D^+\to K^0_Sπ^+π^+π^-π^0)=(15.28\pm 0.57\pm 0.60)\times 10^{-3}$, ${\mathcal B}(D^+\to K^0_Sπ^+π^0π^0π^0)=( 5.54\pm 0.44\pm 0.32)\times 10^{-3}$, ${\mathcal B}(D^+\to K^-π^+π^+π^0π^0 )=( 4.95\pm 0.26\pm 0.19)\times 10^{-3}$, ${\mathcal B}({D^0\to K^0_S K^0_Sπ^0}) < 1.57 \times 10^{-4}$ at the 90\% confidence level. Here the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones systematic. The newly studied decays greatly enrich the knowledge of the $D\to \bar Kπππ$ and $D\to \bar Kππππ$ hadronic decays, and open a bridge to access more two-body hadronic $D$ decays containing scalar, vector, axial and tensor mesons in the charm sector. △ Less

Luminosities and energies of $e^+e^-$ collision data taken between $\sqrt{s}$=4.612 GeV and 4.946 GeV at BESIII

Abstract: From December 2019 to June 2021, the BESIII experiment collected about 5.85 fb$^{-1}$ of data at center-of-mass energies between 4.61 GeV and 4.95 GeV. This is the highest collision energy BEPCII has reached so far. The accumulated $e^+e^-$ annihilation data samples are useful for studying charmonium(-like) states and charmed-hadron decays. By adopting a novel method of analyzing the production of… ▽ More From December 2019 to June 2021, the BESIII experiment collected about 5.85 fb$^{-1}$ of data at center-of-mass energies between 4.61 GeV and 4.95 GeV. This is the highest collision energy BEPCII has reached so far. The accumulated $e^+e^-$ annihilation data samples are useful for studying charmonium(-like) states and charmed-hadron decays. By adopting a novel method of analyzing the production of $Λ_{c}^{+}\barΛ_{c}^{-}$ pairs in $e^+e^-$ annihilation, the center-of-mass energies are measured with a precision of $\sim$0.6 MeV. Integrated luminosities are measured with a precision of better than 1\% by analyzing the events of large-angle Bhabha scattering. Investigation on intense axial magnetic field shielding with a large melt cast processed Bi-2212 tube

Abstract: The feasibility of shielding axial magnetic fields up to 1.4~T, using a Bi-2212 hollow cylinder, is investigated at a temperature of 4.2~K. The residual magnetic flux density along the axis of the tube is measured at external fields of 1~T and 1.4~T. The shielding factor, defined as the ratio between the applied and the residual magnetic flux densities at the center of the tube, is measured to be… ▽ More The feasibility of shielding axial magnetic fields up to 1.4~T, using a Bi-2212 hollow cylinder, is investigated at a temperature of 4.2~K. The induced current density is evaluated from the measurements taking the thickness of the tube into account. The stability of the measurements over time is also addressed. Numerical simulations for the external and the residual magnetic flux densities are performed and compared to the experimental results. The study shows a high shielding performance of the Bi-2212 superconductor tube at 4.2~K up to 1.4~T. △ Less

Abstract: We study the processes $e^+e^-\rightarrow K^{0}_{\rm S}D_s^+D^{*-}$ and $e^+e^-\rightarrow K^{0}_{\rm S}D_s^{*+}D^{-}$, as well as their charge conjugated processes, at five center-of-mass energies between 4.628~GeV and 4.699~GeV, using data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $3.8~\rm{fb^{-1}}$ collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. Based on a partial recons… ▽ More We study the processes $e^+e^-\rightarrow K^{0}_{\rm S}D_s^+D^{*-}$ and $e^+e^-\rightarrow K^{0}_{\rm S}D_s^{*+}D^{-}$, as well as their charge conjugated processes, at five center-of-mass energies between 4.628~GeV and 4.699~GeV, using data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $3.8~\rm{fb^{-1}}$ collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. Based on a partial reconstruction technique, we find evidence of a structure near the thresholds for $D_s^+D^{*-}$ and $D_s^{*+}D^{-}$ production in the $K^{0}_{\rm S}$ recoil-mass spectrum, which we refer to as the $ Z_{cs}(3985)^0$. Fitting with a Breit-Wigner line shape, we find the mass of the structure to be $(3992.2\pm{1.7}\pm{1.6})~\rm{MeV}/c^2$ and the width to be $(7.7_{-3.8}^{+4.1}\pm{4.3})~\rm{MeV}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The significance of the $ Z_{cs}(3985)^0$ signal is found to be $4.6σ$ including both the statistical and systematic uncertainty. We report the Born cross section multiplied by the branching fraction at different energy points. The mass of the $Z_{cs}(3985)^0$ is close to that of the $Z_{cs}(3985)^+$. Assuming SU(3) symmetry, the cross section of the neutral channel is consistent with that of the charged one. Hence, we conclude that the $Z_{cs}(3985)^0$ is the isospin partner of the $Z_{cs}(3985)^+$. △ Less

Precise Measurements of Decay Parameters and $CP$ Asymmetry with Entangled $Λ-\barΛ$ Pairs

Abstract: Based on 10 billion $J/ψ$ events collected at the BESIII experiment, a search for $CP$ violation in $Λ$ decay is performed in the difference between $CP$-odd decay parameters $α_{-}$ for $Λ\rightarrow pπ^-$ and $α_{+}$ for $\barΛ\rightarrow \bar{p}π^+$ by using the process $e^+e^- \to J/ψ\rightarrow Λ\barΛ$. With a five-dimensional fit to the full angular distributions of the daughter baryon, the… ▽ More Based on 10 billion $J/ψ$ events collected at the BESIII experiment, a search for $CP$ violation in $Λ$ decay is performed in the difference between $CP$-odd decay parameters $α_{-}$ for $Λ\rightarrow pπ^-$ and $α_{+}$ for $\barΛ\rightarrow \bar{p}π^+$ by using the process $e^+e^- \to J/ψ\rightarrow Λ\barΛ$. With a five-dimensional fit to the full angular distributions of the daughter baryon, the most precise values for the decay parameters are determined to be $α_{-} = 0.7519 \pm 0.0036 \pm 0.0024$ and $α_{+} = -0.7559 \pm 0.0036 \pm 0.0030$, respectively. The $Λ$ and $\barΛ$ averaged value of the decay parameter is extracted to be $α_{\rm{avg}} = 0.7542 \pm 0.0010 \pm 0.0024$ with unprecedented accuracy. The $CP$ asymmetry $A_{CP}=(α_{-}+α_{+})/(α_{-}-α_{+})$ is determined to be $-0.0025 \pm 0.0046 \pm 0.0012$, which is one of the most precise measurements in the baryon sector. The reported results for the decay parameter will play an important role in the studies of the polarizations and $CP$ violations for the strange, charmed and beauty baryons. △ Less

Abstract: Using 448 million $ψ(2S)$ events, the spin-singlet $P$-wave charmonium state $h_c$(1$^1P_1$) is studied via the $ψ(2S) \rightarrow π^0 h_c$ decay followed by the $h_c \to γη_c$ transition. The $h_c$(1$^1P_1$) mass and width are determined to be $M = (3525.32 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.15)~\rm{MeV}/c^{\rm{2}}$ and ${\mathit Γ} = (0.78 ^{+0.27}_{-0.24} \pm 0.12)~\rm{MeV}$. Using the center of gravity mass of the three $χ_{cJ}$(1$^3 P_J$) mesons ($M(\rm c.o.g.)$), the $1P$ hyperfine mass splitting is estimated to be $Δ_{\rm hyp} = M(h_c) - M(\rm c.o.g.) = (0.03 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.15) ~ \rm{MeV}/c^{\rm{2}}$, which is consistent with the expectation that the $1P$ hyperfine splitting is zero at the lowest-order. △ Less

Observation of the $Y(4230)$ and a new structure in $e^+e^- \rightarrow K^+K^-J/ψ$

Abstract: The cross sections of $e^+e^- \rightarrow K^+K^-J/ψ$ at center-of-mass energies from 4.127 to 4.600~GeV are measured based on 15.6 fb$^{-1}$ data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Two resonant structures are observed in the line shape of the cross sections. The mass and width of the first structure are measured to be ($4225.3\pm2.3\pm21.5$) MeV and (… ▽ More The cross sections of $e^+e^- \rightarrow K^+K^-J/ψ$ at center-of-mass energies from 4.127 to 4.600~GeV are measured based on 15.6 fb$^{-1}$ data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Two resonant structures are observed in the line shape of the cross sections. The mass and width of the first structure are measured to be ($4225.3\pm2.3\pm21.5$) MeV and ($72.9\pm6.1\pm30.8$)~MeV, respectively. They are consistent with those of the established $Y(4230)$. The second structure is observed for the first time with a statistical significance greater than 8$σ$, denoted as $Y(4500)$. Its mass and width are determined to be ($4484.7\pm13.3\pm24.1$) MeV and ($111.1\pm30.1\pm15.2$) MeV, respectively. The first presented uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. The decay channel $h_{c}\to p\bar{p}η$ is observed for the first time with a significance greater than $5σ$ and a branching fraction of $\left( {6.41 \pm 1.74 \pm 0.53 \pm 1.00} \right) \times {10^{ -4}}$, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and that from the branching fraction of $ψ(3686)\toπ^{0}h_{c}$. Strong evidence for the decay ${h_c} \to p\bar{p}{π^+}{π^-}{π^0}$ is found with a significance of $4.9σ$ and a branching fraction of $\left( {3.84 \pm 0.83 \pm0.69} \pm 0.58 \right) \times {10^{ - 3}}$. The significances include systematic uncertainties. No clear signal of the decay $h_c\to p\bar{p}π^{0}$ is found, and an upper limit of $6.59\times 10^{-4}$ on its branching fraction is set at the 90% confidence level. △ Less

For the first time, resonance structure is observed in the cross section line shape of… ▽ More Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.3 $\rm fb^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energies from $4.23$ to $4.70$ GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the product of the $e^+e^-\to π^+π^-ψ_2(3823)$ cross section and the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}[ψ_2(3823)\to γχ_{c1}]$. For the first time, resonance structure is observed in the cross section line shape of $e^+e^-\to π^+π^-ψ_2(3823)$ with significances exceeding $5σ$. A fit to data with two coherent Breit-Wigner resonances modeling the $\sqrt{s}$-dependent cross section yields $M(R_1)=4406.9\pm 17.2\pm 4.5$ MeV/$c^2$, $Γ(R_1)=128.1\pm 37.2\pm 2.3$ MeV, and $M(R_2)=4647.9\pm 8.6\pm 0.8$ MeV/$c^2$, $Γ(R_2)=33.1\pm 18.6\pm 4.1$ MeV. Though weakly disfavored by the data, a single resonance with $M(R)=4417.5\pm26.2\pm3.5$ MeV/$c^2$, $Γ(R)=245\pm48\pm13$ MeV is also possible to interpret data. This observation deepens our understanding of the nature of the vector charmoniumlike states. The mass of the $ψ_2(3823)$ state is measured as $(3823.12\pm 0.43\pm 0.13)$ MeV/$c^2$, which is the most precise measurement to date. △ Less

Abstract: Using $2.93\,\rm fb^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773\,GeV with the BESIII detector, we present a measurement of the branching fraction of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed (DCS) decay $D^0\to K^+π^-π^0$ and a search for the DCS decay $D^0\to K^+π^-π^0π^0$. The branching fraction of $D^0\to K^+π^-π^0$ is determined to be $[3.13^{+0.60}_{-0.56}({\rm stat}) \pm 0.09({\rm syst})] \times 10^{-4}$. No signal is observed for $D^0\to K^+π^-π^0π^0$ and an upper limit of $3.6 \times 10^{-4}$ is set on the branching fraction at the 90\% C.L. We combine these results with the world-average branching fractions of their counterpart Cabibbo-favored decays to determine the ratios of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed over the Cabibbo-favored branching fractions, ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^+π^-π^0)/{\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^-π^+π^0)=(0.22\pm 0.04)\%$~and ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^+π^-π^0π^0)/{\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^-π^+π^0π^0)<0.40\%$ at the 90\% C.L., which correspond to $(0.75\pm 0.14)\tan^{4} θ_C$~and $1.37\times \tan^{4} θ_C$, respectively, where $θ_C$ is the Cabibbo angle. △ Less

Shape constrained CNN for segmentation guided prediction of myocardial shape and pose parameters in cardiac MRI

However, the predicted segmentation maps obtained from such standard CNN do not allow direct quantification of regional shape properties such as regional wall thickness. Furthermore, the CNNs lack explicit shape c… ▽ More Semantic segmentation using convolutional neural networks (CNNs) is the state-of-the-art for many medical image segmentation tasks including myocardial segmentation in cardiac MR images. However, the predicted segmentation maps obtained from such standard CNN do not allow direct quantification of regional shape properties such as regional wall thickness. Furthermore, the CNNs lack explicit shape constraints, occasionally resulting in unrealistic segmentations. In this paper, we use a CNN to predict shape parameters of an underlying statistical shape model of the myocardium learned from a training set of images. Additionally, the cardiac pose is predicted, which allows to reconstruct the myocardial contours. The integrated shape model regularizes the predicted contours and guarantees realistic shapes. We enforce robustness of shape and pose prediction by simultaneously performing pixel-wise semantic segmentation during training and define two loss functions to impose consistency between the two predicted representations: one distance-based loss and one overlap-based loss. We evaluated the proposed method in a 5-fold cross validation on an in-house clinical dataset with 75 subjects and on the ACDC and LVQuan19 public datasets. We show the benefits of simultaneous semantic segmentation and the two newly defined loss functions for the prediction of shape parameters. Our method achieved a correlation of 99% for left ventricular (LV) area on the three datasets, between 91% and 97% for myocardial area, 98-99% for LV dimensions and between 80% and 92% for regional wall thickness. △ Less

Factorizer: A Scalable Interpretable Approach to Context Modeling for Medical Image Segmentation

However, the inherent locality of convolution makes CNNs fail to fully exploit global context, essential for better recognition of some structures, e.g., brain lesions. Transformers have recently proven promising performance on vision tasks, in… ▽ More Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) with U-shaped architectures have dominated medical image segmentation, which is crucial for various clinical purposes. However, the inherent locality of convolution makes CNNs fail to fully exploit global context, essential for better recognition of some structures, e.g., brain lesions. Transformers have recently proven promising performance on vision tasks, including semantic segmentation, mainly due to their capability of modeling long-range dependencies. Nevertheless, the quadratic complexity of attention makes existing Transformer-based models use self-attention layers only after somehow reducing the image resolution, which limits the ability to capture global contexts present at higher resolutions. Therefore, this work introduces a family of models, dubbed Factorizer, which leverages the power of low-rank matrix factorization for constructing an end-to-end segmentation model. Specifically, we propose a linearly scalable approach to context modeling, formulating Nonnegative Matrix Factorization (NMF) as a differentiable layer integrated into a U-shaped architecture. The shifted window technique is also utilized in combination with NMF to effectively aggregate local information. Factorizers compete favorably with CNNs and Transformers in terms of accuracy, scalability, and interpretability, achieving state-of-the-art results on the BraTS dataset for brain tumor segmentation and ISLES'22 dataset for stroke lesion segmentation. Highly meaningful NMF components give an additional interpretability advantage to Factorizers over CNNs and Transformers. Moreover, our ablation studies reveal a distinctive feature of Factorizers that enables a significant speed-up in inference for a trained Factorizer without any extra steps and without sacrificing much accuracy. The measured resonance parameters suggest it can be identified as the $φ(2170)$, thus the results provide valuable input to understand the internal nature of this state. △ Less

Abstract: Based on $(10087\pm44)\times10^{6}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, the process $J/ψ\rightarrowγπ^{+}π^{-}η'$ is studied using two dominant decay channels of the $η'$ meson, $η'\rightarrowγπ^{+}π^{-}$ and $η'\rightarrowηπ^{+}π^{-},η\rightarrowγγ$. The $X(2600)$ is observed with a statistical significance larger than 20$σ$ in the $π^{+}π^{-}η'$ invariant mass spectrum, and it has a… ▽ More Based on $(10087\pm44)\times10^{6}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, the process $J/ψ\rightarrowγπ^{+}π^{-}η'$ is studied using two dominant decay channels of the $η'$ meson, $η'\rightarrowγπ^{+}π^{-}$ and $η'\rightarrowηπ^{+}π^{-},η\rightarrowγγ$. The $X(2600)$ is observed with a statistical significance larger than 20$σ$ in the $π^{+}π^{-}η'$ invariant mass spectrum, and it has a strong correlation to a structure around 1.5$~\mathrm{GeV}$/{\it c}$^{2}$ in the $π^{+}π^{-}$ invariant mass spectrum. A simultaneous fit on the $π^{+}π^{-}η'$ and $π^{+}π^{-}$ invariant mass spectra with the two $η'$ decay modes indicates that the mass and width of the $X(2600)$ state are $2617.8\pm2.1 ^{+18.2}_{-1.9}~\mathrm{MeV}$/{\it c}$^{2}$ and $200\pm8^{+20}_{-17}~\mathrm{MeV}$, respectively. The corresponding branching fractions are measured to be $B(J/ψ\rightarrowγX(2600))\cdot B(X(2600)\rightarrow f_{0}(1500)η')\cdot B(f_{0}(1500)\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-})$ = ($3.39\pm0.18^{+0.91}_{-0.66})\times10^{-5}$ and $B(J/ψ\rightarrowγX(2600))\cdot B(X(2600)\rightarrow f_{2}^{'}(1525)η')\cdot B(f_{2}^{'}(1525)\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-})$ = ($2.43\pm0.13^{+0.31}_{-1.11})\times10^{-5}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical, and the second systematic. △ Less

By taking the upper limit of branching fractions of $Λ_{c}^{+} \to pπ^0$ from the Belle experiment, the ratio of branching fractions between $Λ_{c}^{+} \to nπ^{+}$ and $Λ_{c}^{+} \to pπ^0$ is calculated to be larger than 7.2 at the 90% confidence level, which disagrees with the current predictions of available phenomenological models. In addition, the branching fractions of the Cabibbo-favored decays $Λ_{c}^{+} \to Λπ^{+}$ and $Λ_{c}^{+} \to Σ^{0}π^{+}$ are measured to be $(1.31\pm0.08_{\rm stat}\pm0.05_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-2}$ and $(1.22\pm0.08_{\rm stat}\pm0.07_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-2}$, respectively, which are consistent with previous results. △ Less

On the relationship between calibrated predictors and unbiased volume estimation

This has led to a renewed focus on calibrated predictions in the medical imaging and broader machine learning communities. However, deep learning models are prone to overconfident predictions. This has led to a renewed focus on calibrated predictions in the medical imaging and broader machine learning communities. Calibrated predictions are estimates of the probability of a label that correspond to the true expected value of the label conditioned on the confidence. Such calibrated predictions have utility in a range of medical imaging applications, including surgical planning under uncertainty and active learning systems. At the same time it is often an accurate volume measurement that is of real importance for many medical applications. This work investigates the relationship between model calibration and volume estimation. We demonstrate both mathematically and empirically that if the predictor is calibrated per image, we can obtain the correct volume by taking an expectation of the probability scores per pixel/voxel of the image. Furthermore, we show that convex combinations of calibrated classifiers preserve volume estimation, but do not preserve calibration. Therefore, we conclude that having a calibrated predictor is a sufficient, but not necessary condition for obtaining an unbiased estimate of the volume. We validate our theoretical findings empirically on a collection of 18 different (calibrated) training strategies on the tasks of glioma volume estimation on BraTS 2018, and ischemic stroke lesion volume estimation on ISLES 2018 datasets. △ Less

The resulting uncertainties are less than $3.0\%$, and are dominated by systematic uncertainties. Abstract: Using a data sample of $4.481\times 10^8 ψ^\prime$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we report the first observation of the four-lepton-decays $J/ψ\to e^+e^-e^+e^-$ and $J/ψ\to e^+e^-μ^+μ^-$ utilizing the process $ψ^\prime\to π^+π^- J/ψ$. A CP asymmetry observable is constructed for the first two channels, which is measured to be $(-0.012\pm0.054\pm0.010)$ and $(0.062\pm0.059\pm0.006)$, respectively. Proton Electromagnetic Form Factors in the Time-like Region through the Scan Technique

Nevertheless, researchers do not fully understand many details about its internal structure and dynamics. Time-like electromagnetic form factors are one of the observable quantities that can help us achieve a deeper understanding. In this review article, we present an overview of the current experimental status in this field, consisting of measurements of the time-like reactions $e^{+}e^{-}\to p\bar{p}$, $p\bar{p}\to e^{+}e^{-}$, and future measurements of $p\bar{p}\to μ^{+}μ^{-}$. A focus is put on recent high precision results of the reaction $e^{+}e^{-}\to p\bar{p}$ that have been obtained after analyzing 688.5~pb$^{-1}$ of data taken at the BESIII experiment. They are compared and put into perspective to results from previous measurements in this channel. We discuss the channels $p\bar{p}\to e^{+}e^{-}$ and $p\bar{p}\toμ^{+}μ^{-}$ in terms of the few existing as well as future measurements, which the PANDA experiment will perform. Finally, we review several new theoretical models and phenomenological approaches inspired by the BESIII high precision results and then discuss their implications for a deeper understanding of the proton's structure and inner dynamics. △ Less

The product branching fraction of $D_s^+\to f_0(980)e^+ν_e,\,f_0(980)\to π^0π^0$ is measured to be $(7.9\pm1.4_{\rm stat} \pm0.3_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-4}$, with a sta… ▽ More Using 6.32~fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data recorded by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between $4.178$ to $4.226$ GeV, we present the first measurement of the decay $D_s^+\to f_0(980)e^+ν_e,\,f_0(980)\to π^0π^0$. The product branching fraction of $D_s^+\to f_0(980)e^+ν_e,\,f_0(980)\to π^0π^0$ is measured to be $(7.9\pm1.4_{\rm stat} \pm0.3_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-4}$, with a statistical significance of $7.8σ$. Furthermore, the upper limits on the product branching fractions of $D_s^+\to f_0(500)e^+ν_e$ with $f_0(500)\to π^0π^0$ and the branching fraction of $D_s^+\to K_{S}^{0}K_{S}^{0}e^+ν_e$ are set to be $7.3\times 10^{-4}$ and $3.8\times 10^{-4}$ at 90\% confidence level, respectively. The branching fractions of $D^+\to K^+π^0π^0$ and $D^+\to K^+π^0η$ are measured to be $(2.1 \pm 0.4_{\rm stat} \pm 0.1_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-4}$ and $(2.1 \pm 0.5_{\rm stat} \pm 0.1_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-4}$ with statistical significances of 8.8$σ$ and 5.5$σ$, respectively. In addition, we search for the subprocesses $D^+\to K^{*}(892)^{+}π^0$ and $D^+\to K^{*}(892)^{+}η$ with $K^{*}(892)^+\to K^+π^0$. The branching fraction of $D^+\to K^{*}(892)^{+}η$ is determined to be $({4.4^{+1.8}_{-1.5}}_{\rm stat}\pm0.2_{\rm syst})\times10^{-4}$, with a statistical significance of 3.2$σ$. No significant signal for $D^+\to K^{*}(892)^{+}π^0$ is found and we set an upper limit on the branching fraction of this decay at the 90\% confidence level to be $5.4\times10^{-4}$. △ Less
