Liénard-type nonlinear oscillators with linear and nonlinear dam** terms exhibit diverse dynamical behavior in both the classical and quantum regimes. In this paper, we consider examples of various one-dimensional Liénard type-I and type-II oscillators. The associated Euler-Lagrange equations are divided into groups based on the characteristics of the dam** and forcing terms. The Liénard type-I oscillators often display localized solutions, isochronous and non-isochronous oscillations and are also precisely solvable in quantum mechanics in general, where the ordering parameters play an important role. These include Mathews-Lakshmanan and Higgs oscillators. However, the classical solutions of some of the nonlinear oscillators are expressed in terms of elliptic functions and have been found to be quasi-exactly solvable in the quantum region. The three-dimensional generalizations of these classical systems add more degrees of freedom, which show complex dynamics. Their quantum equivalents are also explored in this article. The isotonic generalizations of the non-isochronous nonlinear oscillators have also been solved both classically and quantum mechanically to advance the studies. The modified Emden equation categorized as Liénard type-II exhibits isochronous oscillations at the classical level. This property makes it a valuable tool for studying the underlying nonlinear dynamics. The study on the quantum counterpart of the system provides a deeper understanding of the behavior in the quantum realm as a typical PT-symmetric system.

The spin Edelstein effect has proven to be a promising phenomenon to generate spin polarization from a charge current in systems without inversion symmetry. In recent years, a current-induced orbital magnetization, called orbital Edelstein effect, has been predicted for various systems with broken inversion symmetry, using the atom-centered approximation and the modern theory of orbital magnetization. In this work, we study the current-induced spin and orbital magnetization for a bilayer system with Rashba interaction, using the modern theory of orbital magnetization and Boltzmann transport theory in relaxation-time approximation. We found that the orbital effect can be significantly larger than the spin effect, depending on the model parameters. Furthermore, the Edelstein response can be enhanced, suppressed, and even reversed, depending on the relation of the effective Rashba parameters of each layer. A sign change of the orbital polarization is related to an interchange of the corresponding layer localization of the states.

Generally, microscopy image analysis in biology relies on the segmentation of individual nuclei, using a dedicated stained image, to identify individual cells. However stained nuclei have drawbacks like the need for sample preparation, and specific equipment on the microscope but most importantly, and as it is in most cases, the nuclear stain is not relevant to the biological questions of interest but is solely used for the segmentation task. In this study, we used non-stained brightfield images for nuclei segmentation with the advantage that they can be acquired on any microscope from both live or fixed samples and do not necessitate specific sample preparation. Nuclei semantic segmentation from brightfield images was obtained, on four distinct cell lines with U-Net-based architectures. We tested systematically deep pre-trained encoders to identify the best performing in combination with the different neural network architectures used. Additionally, two distinct and effective strategies were employed for instance segmentation, followed by thorough instance evaluation. We obtained effective semantic and instance segmentation of nuclei in brightfield images from standard test sets as well as from very diverse biological contexts triggered upon treatment with various small molecule inhibitor. The code used in this study was made public to allow further use by the community.

The detection and characterization of exoplanets and brown dwarfs (BDs) around massive AF-type stars is essential to investigate and constrain the impact of stellar mass on planet properties. However, such targets are still poorly explored in radial velocity (RV) surveys because they only feature a small number of stellar lines and those are usually broadened and blended by stellar rotation as well as stellar jitter. As a result, the available information about the formation and evolution of planets and BDs around hot stars is limited. We aim to increase the sample and precisely measure the masses and eccentricities of giant planets and BDs transiting AF-type stars detected by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). We followed bright (V < 12 mag) stars with $T_{\mathrm{eff}}$ > 6200 K that host giant companions (R > 7 $\mathrm{R_{\rm \oplus}}$) using ground-based photometric observations as well as high precision RV measurements from the CORALIE, CHIRON, TRES, FEROS, and MINERVA-Australis spectrographs. In the context, we present the discovery of three BD companions, TOI-629b, TOI-1982b, and TOI-2543b, and one massive planet, TOI-1107b. From the joint analysis we find the BDs have masses between 66 and 68 $\mathrm{M_{\rm Jup}}$, periods between 7.54 and 17.17 days, and radii between 0.95 and 1.11 $\mathrm{R_{\rm Jup}}$. The hot Jupiter TOI-1107b has an orbital period of 4.08 days, a radius of 1.30 $\mathrm{R_{\rm Jup}}$, and a mass of 3.35 $\mathrm{M_{\rm Jup}}$. As a by-product of this program, we identified four low-mass eclipsing components (TOI-288b, TOI-446b, TOI-478b, and TOI-764b). Both TOI-1107b and TOI-1982b present an anomalously inflated radius with respect to the age of these systems. TOI-629 is among the hottest stars with a known transiting brown dwarf. TOI-629b and TOI-1982b are among the most eccentric brown dwarfs.

The Provence Adaptive optics Pyramid Run System (PAPYRUS) is a pyramid-based Adaptive Optics (AO) system that will be installed at the Coude focus of the 1.52m telescope (T152) at the Observatoire de Haute Provence (OHP). The project is being developed by PhD students and Postdocs across France with support from staff members consolidating the existing expertise and hardware into an R&D testbed. This testbed allows us to run various pyramid wavefront sensing (WFS) control algorithms on-sky and experiment on new concepts for wavefront control with additional benefit from the high number of available nights at this telescope. It will also function as a teaching tool for students during the planned AO summer school at OHP. To our knowledge, this is one of the first pedagogic pyramid-based AO systems on-sky. The key components of PAPYRUS are a 17x17 actuators Alpao deformable mirror with a Alpao RTC, a very low noise camera OCAM2k, and a 4-faces glass pyramid. PAPYRUS is designed in order to be a simple and modular system to explore wavefront control with a pyramid WFS on sky. We present an overview of PAPYRUS, a description of the opto-mechanical design and the current status of the project.

We present 17 transit light curves of seven known warm-Jupiters observed with the CHaracterising ExOPlanet Satellite (CHEOPS). The light curves have been collected as part of the CHEOPS Guaranteed Time Observation (GTO) program that searches for transit-timing variation (TTV) of warm-Jupiters induced by a possible external perturber to shed light on the evolution path of such planetary systems. We describe the CHEOPS observation process, from the planning to the data analysis. In this work we focused on the timing performance of CHEOPS, the impact of the sampling of the transit phases, and the improvement we can obtain combining multiple transits together. We reached the highest precision on the transit time of about 13-16 s for the brightest target (WASP-38, G = 9.2) in our sample. From the combined analysis of multiple transits of fainter targets with G >= 11 we obtained a timing precision of about 2 min. Additional observations with CHEOPS, covering a longer temporal baseline, will further improve the precision on the transit times and will allow us to detect possible TTV signals induced by an external perturber.

LOCNES (LOw-Cost NIR Extended Solar telescope) is a solar telescope installed at the TNG (Telescopio Nazionale Galileo). It feeds the light of the Sun into the NIR spectrograph GIANO-B through a 40-m patch of optical fibers. LOCNES has been designed to obtain high signal-to-noise ratio spectra of the Sun as a star with an accurate wavelength calibration through molecular-band cells. This is an entirely new area of investigation that will provide timely results to improve the search of telluric planets with NIR spectrographs such as iSHELL, CARMENES, and GIANO-B. We will extract several disc-integrated activity indicators and average magnetic field measurements for the Sun in the NIR. Eventually, they will be correlated with both the RV of the Sun-as-a -star and the resolved images of the solar disc in visible and NIR. Such an approach will allow for a better understanding of the origin of activity-induced RV variations in the two spectral domains and will help in improving the techniques for their corrections. In this paper, we outline the science drivers for the LOCNES project and its first commissioning results.

The study of the formation of bands of drops along the direction of the vorticity in a concentrated emulsion is presented. That is, the observed anisotropic structures are characterized by regions of high concentration of drops interspaced with regions of about equal width where hardly any particles are present. These particle distributions are a clear departure to what has previously reported for this emulsion. These patterns are induced by the effect of a simple flow in circular parallel plate geometry (CSS450-Linkam), but only after a prolonged time after the inception of the flow. That is, the observation of bands in emulsions only appears after various other phenomena occur in the emulsion. That is, the separation of the flow cell plates is 100 μm, and the observation of bands occurs within the interval of shear rates of 3.0 to 5.0 s^{-1}, but only after a long evolution of the initial structure with a series of flows of 0.75 to 2.25 s^{-1}.

All the four energies show up in a single experiment with a very high precision, providing experimental grounds for a deeper understanding of the d-d exchange interactions in a diluted magnetic semiconductor and demonstrating the capacity of the employed method. The major (nearest-neighbor) exchange constant J_1 = 6.15 K was found to consent with its previously reported value. In this paper we explore and identify a mechanism that enables use of inherent stress-in-speech or speaking style information present in speech of a person as additional cues for speaker recognition. We quantify the the inherent stress present in the speech of a speaker mainly using 3 features, namely, pitch, amplitude and duration (together called PAD) We experimentally observe that the PAD vectors of similar phones in different words of a speaker are close to each other in the three dimensional (PAD) space confirming that the way a speaker stresses different syllables in their speech is unique to them, thus we propose the use of PAD based speaking style of a speaker as an additional feature for speaker recognition applications.

In this paper, we study the effect of resampling a speech signal on these speech features. We first derive a relationship between the MFCC param- eters of the resampled speech and the MFCC parameters of the original speech. We propose six methods of calculating the MFCC parameters of downsampled speech by transforming the Mel filter bank used to com- pute MFCC of the original speech. We then experimentally compute the MFCC parameters of the down sampled speech using the proposed meth- ods and compute the Pearson coefficient between the MFCC parameters of the downsampled speech and that of the original speech to identify the most effective choice of Mel-filter band that enables the computed MFCC of the resampled speech to be as close as possible to the original speech sample MFCC.

The first part examines the physics of the expanding Universe, with emphasis on the content of the latest revolution in cosmology. It is today well established that the universe is dominated by a vacuum that exceeds the density of baryonic forms of cosmic matter, that the dynamics of the cosmic expansion controls the vacuum antigravity and, finally, that the cosmological expansion is accelerating.
In the second part we investigate the processes leading to the electrization of gas fluxes in the solar atmosphere and the generation of neutrons in the active regions of its atmosphere, issues of electrization of thunderstorm clouds in the troposphere of the Earth, the formation and development of noctilucent clouds in the area of the mesosphere.
In the third part the methods of calculating the wave functions of cluster systems in continuous and discrete spectrum for a given intercluster interaction are proposed. It presents the theoretical study of astrophysical S-factors in the photonuclear reactions, which are part of the helium thermonuclear processes cycle which determine the bulk of the energy yield in stellar systems.
Although the book is written in Russian, it might have some interest.

Experimental observations of typical kinds of synchronization transitions are reported in unidirectionally coupled time-delay electronic circuits with a threshold nonlinearity and two time delays, namely feedback delay $τ_1$ and coupling delay $τ_2$. We have observed transitions from anticipatory to lag via complete synchronization and their inverse counterparts with excitatory and inhibitory couplings, respectively, as a function of the coupling delay $τ_2$. The anticipating and lag times depend on the difference between the feedback and the coupling delays. A single stability condition for all the different types of synchronization is found to be valid as the stability condition is independent of both the delays. Further, the existence of different kinds of synchronizations observed experimentally is corroborated by numerical simulations, and from the changes in the Lyapunov exponents of the coupled time-delay systems.

The Galaxy Ultraviolet Explorer (GALEX) satellite has recently shown the presence of an extended, outer ring studded with UV-bright knots surrounding the lenticular galaxy NGC 4262. Such a structure---not detected in the optical---is coupled with a ring of atomic (HI) gas. We want to show that both star-forming and HI rings surrounding this SB0 galaxy share the same radial distance from the galaxy center and spatial orientation. We want also to model the kinematics of the ring(s) and of the galaxy body. We make use of archive FUV and NUV GALEX data plus HI observations from the literature. We confirm that the UV-bright and atomic gas rings of NGC 4262 have the same extent and projected spatial orientation. Their kinematics is not coupled with that of the galaxy stars. It is possible that NGC 4262 has undergone a major gas strip** event in the past which gave origin to the present "necklace" of UV-bright knots.

Specifying QoS properties can limit the selection of some good web services that the user will have considered; this is because the algorithm used strictly ensures that there is a match between QoS properties of the consumer with that of the available services. This is to say that, a situation may arise that some services might not have all that the user specifies but are rated high in those they have. With some tradeoffs specified in form of weight, these services will be made available to the user for consideration. This assertion is from the fact that, the user's requirements for the specified QoS properties are of varying degree i.e. he will always prefer one ahead of the other. This can be captured in form of weight i.e. the one preferred most will have the highest weight. If a consumer specifies light weight for those QoS properties that a web service is deficient in and high weight for those it has, this will minimize the difference between them. Hence the service can be returned.

We consider B to PS decays where P stands for pseudoscalar and S for a heavy (~1500 MeV) scalar meson. We achieve agreement with available experimental data -- which includes a two orders of magnitude hierarchy -- assuming the scalars mesons are two quark states. We formulate non-relativistic classical and quantum mechanics in the non-commutative two dimensional plane. The approach we use is based on the Galilei group, where the non-commutativity is seen as a central extension upon identification of the boost generators with the position operator. We perform a systematic study of the free particle, defined by the symmetries of the space time, which include the no-commutativity. The symmetries at the classical level are analyzed in terms of Noether's theorem. Canonical quantization is presented and the representation of the corresponding Heisenberg algebra is obtained. The path integral representation and Wigner distribution function in phase space are also discussed. We work out, both at the classical and at the quantum level, the harmonic oscillator, avoiding the use of the conventional non-canonical transformation that leads to a momentum dependent potential. We use Einsteins' model for a solid to corroborate that, according with intuition, as a consequence of the space fuzziness the entropy is a growing function of $θ$ in the low temperature regime.

We analyze the decays $B^0 \to a^\pm_0 π^\mp$ and $B^{-,0} \to f_0 K^{-,0}$ and show that within the factorization approximation a phenomenological consistent picture can be obtained. We show that in this approach the $O_6$ operator provides the dominant contributions to the suppressed channel $B^0 \to a^+_0 π^-$. When the $a_0$ is considered a two quark state, evaluation of the annihilation form factor using Perturbative $QCD$ implies that this contribution is not negligible, and furthermore it can interfere constructively or destructively with other penguin contributions. As a consequence of this ambiguity, the positive identification of $B^0 \to π^+ a_0^-$ can not distinguish between the two or four quark assignment of the $a_0$. According to our calculation, a best candidate to distinguish the nature of $a_0$ scalar is $Br(B^-\to π^0a_0^-)$ since the predictions for a four quark model is one order of magnitude smaller than for the two quark assignment. When the scalars are seen as two quarks states, simple theoretical assumptions based on SU(2) isospin symmetry provide relations between different B decays involving one scalar and one pseudoscalar meson.

The recently reported data on $φ\toπ^0π^0γ$ coming from the VEPP-2M $e^+ e^-$ collider in Novosibirsk and the DA$Φ$NE $φ$-factory in Frascati can be reasonably described in our approach, which we propose as a promising first step towards more detailed analyses. The $f_0(980)$ contribution, which appears as a moderately narrow peak at the high part of the dipion mass spectrum, can be interpreted as the isoscalar member of the scalar nonet with a large $f_0 K\bar{K}$ coupling and an $f_0ππ$ coupling suppressed by almost ideal $σ$-$f_0$ mixing. Indeed, the mixing angle in the flavour basis is found to be $φ_{S}\approx -6^\circ$, if the $f_0$-propagator is approximated by a simple Breit-Wigner, or $φ_{S}\approx -9^\circ$, if an improved two-channel analysis is performed. The $σ(500)$ resonance, which is then strongly coupled to pion pairs, yields a tiny contribution because, in our approach, its coupling to kaon pairs is proportional to $m^2_σ-m^2_K$ and thus quite small.

We find that a single pole describes the $f_0(980)$, the precise position depending upon the $ππ$ data used. Renormalization in quantum statistics in the presence of a charge associated to a spontaneously broken symmetry is discussed for the scalar field model. In contrast to the case of non-broken symmetry, the renormalization mass counterterm depends on the chemical potential. We argue that this is connected to the ill-defined character of the charge operator.
