In the realm of multimodal tasks, Visual Question Answering (VQA) plays a crucial role by addressing natural language questions grounded in visual content. Knowledge-Based Visual Question Answering (KBVQA) advances this concept by adding external knowledge along with images to respond to questions. We introduce an approach for KBVQA, augmenting the existing vision-language transformer encoder-decoder (OFA) model. Our main contribution involves enhancing questions by incorporating relevant external knowledge extracted from knowledge graphs, using a dynamic triple extraction method. We supply a flexible number of triples from the knowledge graph as context, tailored to meet the requirements for answering the question. Our model, enriched with knowledge, demonstrates an average improvement of 4.75\% in Exact Match Score over the state-of-the-art on three different KBVQA datasets. Through experiments and analysis, we demonstrate that furnishing variable triples for each question improves the reasoning capabilities of the language model in contrast to supplying a fixed number of triples. This is illustrated even for recent large language models. Additionally, we highlight the model's generalization capability by showcasing its SOTA-beating performance on a small dataset, achieved through straightforward fine-tuning.

To address this Binary Classification task, which was daunting due to the complexity of the Legal Texts involved, we propose a simple yet novel similarity and distance-based unsupervised approach to generate labels. Further, we explore the Multi-level fusion of Legal-Bert embeddings using ensemble features, including CNN, GRU, and LSTM. To address the lengthy nature of Legal explanation in the dataset, we introduce T5-based segment-wise summarization, which successfully retained crucial information, enhancing the model's performance. Our unsupervised system witnessed a 20-point increase in macro F1-score on the development set and a 10-point increase on the test set, which is promising given its uncomplicated architecture.

Elucidating the emergence of long-range magnetic ordering from its precursor short-range magnetic ordering (SRMO) in two-dimensional van der Waals materials holds profound implications for fundamental research and technological advancements. However, directly observing the intricate stages of this magnetic dimensional crossover (MDC) remains a significant experimental challenge. While magneto-elastic coupling offers a promising avenue, detecting the minute lattice response to SRMO proves challenging. Recent investigations utilizing second harmonic generation have unveiled a two-step MDC in a van der Waals ferromagnetic insulator. However, an unambiguous detection of MDC through the time-resolved techniques remains elusive. To meet this goal, we have executed an alternative approach by employing picosecond acoustic strain pulses generated by femtosecond lasers to probe the various stages of MDC through the magneto-elastic coupling for the first time. By analyzing the shape of the strain pulse in both the time and frequency domains as a function of temperature, we clearly demonstrate the detection of the subtle influence of spin fluctuations on the lattice. Additionally, the ultrafast carrier dynamics also show signatures of MDC. Our measurements pave the way towards characterizing magnetic materials in time-resolved experiments that are crucial in designing a new generation of spin-based optoelectronic devices.

Signed networks allow us to model conflicting relationships and interactions, such as friend/enemy and support/oppose. These signed interactions happen in real-time. Modeling such dynamics of signed networks is crucial to understanding the evolution of polarization in the network and enabling effective prediction of the signed structure (i.e., link signs and signed weights) in the future. However, existing works have modeled either (static) signed networks or dynamic (unsigned) networks but not dynamic signed networks. Since both sign and dynamics inform the graph structure in different ways, it is non-trivial to model how to combine the two features. In this work, we propose a new Graph Neural Network (GNN)-based approach to model dynamic signed networks, named SEMBA: Signed link's Evolution using Memory modules and Balanced Aggregation. Here, the idea is to incorporate the signs of temporal interactions using separate modules guided by balance theory and to evolve the embeddings from a higher-order neighborhood. Experiments on 4 real-world datasets and 4 different tasks demonstrate that SEMBA consistently and significantly outperforms the baselines by up to $80\%$ on the tasks of predicting signs of future links while matching the state-of-the-art performance on predicting the existence of these links in the future. We find that this improvement is due specifically to the superior performance of SEMBA on the minority negative class.

The vaccination game is a social dilemma that refers to the conundrum individuals face (to get immunized or not) when the population is exposed to an infectious disease. The model has recently gained much traction due to the COVID-19 pandemic since the public perception of vaccines plays a significant role in disease dynamics. This paper studies the vaccination game in the thermodynamic limit with an analytical method derived from the 1D Ising model called Nash equilibrium map**. The individual dilemma regarding Vaccination comes from an internal conflict wherein one tries to balance the perceived advantages of immunizing with the apparent risks associated with Vaccination which they hear through different news media. We compare the results of Nash equilibrium(NE) map** to other 1D Ising-based models, namely Darwinian evolution and agent-based simulation. This study aims to analyze the behaviour of an infinite population regarding what fraction of people choose to vaccinate or not vaccinate. While Nash equilibrium map** and agent-based simulation agree mostly, Darwinian evolution strays far from the two models. It fails to predict the equilibrium behaviour of players in the population reasonably. We apply the results of our study to analyze the Astra-Zeneca(AZ) COVID-19 vaccine risk versus disease deaths debate, both via NE map** and agent-based method. Both predict near 100% AZ vaccine coverage for people above 40, notwithstanding the risk. At the same time, younger people show a slight reluctance. We predict that while government intervention via vaccination mandates and advertisement campaigns is unnecessary for the older population, for the younger population (ages: 20-39), some encouragement from the government via media campaigns and vaccine mandates may be necessary.

The growing quantity and complexity of data pose challenges for humans to consume information and respond in a timely manner. For businesses in domains with rapidly changing rules and regulations, failure to identify changes can be costly. In contrast to expert analysis or the development of domain-specific ontology and taxonomies, we use a task-based approach for fulfilling specific information needs within a new domain. Specifically, we propose to extract task-based information from incoming instance data. A pipeline constructed of state of the art NLP technologies, including a bi-LSTM-CRF model for entity extraction, attention-based deep Semantic Role Labeling, and an automated verb-based relationship extractor, is used to automatically extract an instance level semantic structure. Each instance is then combined with a larger, domain-specific knowledge graph to produce new and timely insights. Preliminary results, validated manually, show the methodology to be effective for extracting specific information to complete end use-cases.

How cooperation evolves and manifests itself in the thermodynamic or infinite player limit of social dilemma games is a matter of intense speculation. Various analytical methods have been proposed to analyze the thermodynamic limit of social dilemmas. In this work, we compare two analytical methods, i.e., Darwinian evolution and Nash equilibrium map**, with a numerical agent-based approach. For completeness, we also give results for another analytical method, Hamiltonian dynamics. In contrast to Hamiltonian dynamics, which involves the maximization of payoffs of all individuals, in Darwinian evolution, the payoff of a single player is maximized with respect to its interaction with the nearest neighbor. While the Hamiltonian dynamics method utterly fails as compared to Nash equilibrium map**, the Darwinian evolution method gives a false positive for game magnetization -- the net difference between the fraction of cooperators and defectors -- when payoffs obey the condition a + d = b + c, wherein a,d represents the diagonal elements and b,c the off-diagonal elements in a symmetric social dilemma game payoff matrix. When either a + d =/= b + c or when one looks at the average payoff per player, the Darwinian evolution method fails, much like the Hamiltonian dynamics approach. On the other hand, the Nash equilibrium map** and numerical agent-based method agree well for both game magnetization and average payoff per player for the social dilemmas in question, i.e., the Hawk-Dove game and the Public goods game. This paper thus brings to light the inconsistency of the Darwinian evolution method vis-a-vis both Nash equilibrium map** and a numerical agent-based approach.

Recently, a generalised solution for Einstein equations of a rotating compact body, surrounded by matter field was proposed, which is the Kerr-Newman spacetime with an anisotropic matter. The solution possesses an additional hair, along with the conventional mass, charge and spin, which arises from the negative radial pressure of the anisotropic matter. In this article we show that, this new class of black holes can act as a particle accelerator during the collision of two generic particles in its gravitational field in the ergo-region. The centre of mass energy of the particles shoots to arbitrary high value in the vicinity of event horizon for the extremal black hole. The physical conditions for the collision to take place are obtained by studying the horizon structure and circular particle motion. The results are interesting from astrophysical perspective.

Modified gravity theories are of great interest in both observational and theoretical studies. In this article we study the correlation between the null geodesics in the background of a four-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-Gauss-Bonnet AdS black hole, a modification of Einstein gravity, and it's thermodynamic phase transition. We study the phase structure of the black hole, using the coexistence and spinodal curves, to understand the phase transition in a extended phase space. The imprints of this phase transition features are observed in the behaviour of photon orbit radius and minimum impact parameter with respect to the Hawking temperature and pressure. The change in these two quantities during the phase transition serve as order parameter which characterises the critical behaviour. The correlation shows that thermodynamic phase transition can be studied by observing the effects of strong gravitational field and vice versa.

Born-Infeld AdS black hole exhibits a reentrant phase transition for certain values of the Born-Infeld parameter $b$. This behaviour is an additional feature compared to the van der Waals like phase transition observed in charged AdS black holes. Therefore, it is worth observing the underlying microscopic origin of this reentrant phase transition. Depending on the value of the parameter $b$, the black hole system has four different cases: no phase transition, a reentrant phase transition with two scenarios, or a van der Waals-like (standard) phase transition. In this article, by employing a novel Ruppeiner geometry method in the parameter space of temperature and volume, we investigate the microstructure of Born-Infeld AdS black hole via the phase transition study, which includes standard and reentrant phase transition. We find that the microstructures of the black hole that lead to standard and reentrant phase transitions are distinct in nature. The standard phase transition is characterised by the typical RN-AdS microstructure. In this case, the small black hole phase has a dominant repulsive interaction for the low temperature case. Interestingly, during the reentrant phase transition, displayed by the system in a range of pressures for specific $b$ values, the dominant attractive nature of interaction in the microstructure is preserved. Our results suggest that in the reentrant phase transition case, the intermediate black holes behave like a bosonic gas, and in the standard phase transition case the small black holes behave like a quantum anyon gas. In both cases, the large black hole phase displays an interaction similar to the bosonic gas. The critical phenomenon is observed from the curvature scalar, including the signature of the reentrant phase transition.

The microstructure details associated with the small-large black hole phase transition are probed in the parameter space of pressure and volume. The curvature scalar shows similar properties for both phases of the black hole, it diverges in the vicinity of critical point and approaches zero for extremal black holes. We show that the dominant interaction among black hole molecules is attractive. This study also affirms that the nature of the microstructure interaction remains unchanged during the small-large black hole phase transition, even though the microstructures are different for both phases.

Behavioral cues play a significant part in human communication and cognitive perception. In most professional domains, employee recruitment policies are framed such that both professional skills and personality traits are adequately assessed. Hiring interviews are structured to evaluate expansively a potential employee's suitability for the position - their professional qualifications, interpersonal skills, ability to perform in critical and stressful situations, in the presence of time and resource constraints, etc. Therefore, candidates need to be aware of their positive and negative attributes and be mindful of behavioral cues that might have adverse effects on their success. We propose a multimodal analytical framework that analyzes the candidate in an interview scenario and provides feedback for predefined labels such as engagement, speaking rate, eye contact, etc. We perform a comprehensive analysis that includes the interviewee's facial expressions, speech, and prosodic information, using the video, audio, and text transcripts obtained from the recorded interview. We use these multimodal data sources to construct a composite representation, which is used for training machine learning classifiers to predict the class labels. Such analysis is then used to provide constructive feedback to the interviewee for their behavioral cues and body language. Experimental validation showed that the proposed methodology achieved promising results.

We demonstrate that the four-dimensional Gauss-Bonnet black hole can act as a particle accelerator with arbitrarily high centre-of-mass energy, during the collision of two general particles near the event horizon. The Gauss-Bonnet coupling constant $α$, provides a deviation in the results from that of Kerr black hole. Our results show that the horizon structure, the range of allowed angular momentum and the critical angular momentum depend on the value of $α$. For extremal cases, the centre-of-mass energy diverges near the horizon, suggesting that Gauss-Bonnet black hole can also act as a particle accelerator like a Kerr black hole. This is interesting in the context of probing the Planck scale physics. For the non-extremal case there exists a finite upper bound on the centre-of-mass energy, the maximal value of which depends on the parameter $α$.

However, in contrast to the van der Waals fluid, there exists a weak dominant repulsive interaction for small black hole phase in some parameter range. This result clearly distinguishes the interactions in a magnetically charged black hole from that of van der Waals fluid. However, these sort of interactions are characteristic for charged black holes since they do not dependent on magnetic charge or temperature.

The data set of each use case contains real known benign and malicious activities samples. The efficient network architecture for DNN is chosen by conducting various trails of experiments for network parameters and network structures. The experiments of such chosen efficient configurations of DNNs are run up to 1000 epochs with learning rate set in the range [0.01-0.5]. Experiments of DNN performed well in comparison to the classical machine learning algorithms in all cases of experiments of cyber security use cases. This is due to the fact that DNNs implicitly extract and build better features, identifies the characteristics of the data that lead to better accuracy. The best accuracy obtained by DNN and XGBoost on Android malware classification 0.940 and 0.741, incident detection 1.00 and 0.997 fraud detection 0.972 and 0.916 respectively.

Mn_2V_1-xCo_xZ (Z=Ga,Al and x=0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1) Heusler compounds have been synthesized to investigate the effect of Co substitution at the V site on the magnetic moment and Curie temperatures of half-metallic ferrimagnets Mn_2VGa and Mn_2VAl. The Co substituted compounds show a non linear decrease in lattice parameter without altering the crystal structure of the parent compounds. The end members Mn_2VGa and Mn_2CoGa have the saturation magnetization of 1.80 μ_B/f.u and 2.05 μ_B/f.u respectively whereas for the Mn_2V_0.5Co_0.5Ga compound, a near total magnetic moment compensation (0.10 μ_B/f.u) was observed due to the ferrimagnetic coupling of Mn with parallelly aligned V and Co. The Co substituted Mn_2VAl has also shown the similar trend with compensated magnetic moment value of 0.06 μ_B/f.u for x=0.5. The Curie temperatures of the compounds including the x=0.5 composition are well above the room temperature (more than 700 K) which is in sharp contrast to the earlier reported values of 171 K for the (MnCo)VGa and 105 K for the (MnCo)VAl compounds (substitution at the Mn site). The magnetic moment compensation without significant reduction in T_C indicates that the V site substitution of Co does not weaken the magnetic interaction in Mn_2VZ (Z=Ga, Al) compounds which is in contrary to the earlier experimental reports on Mn site substitution.

Health related social media mining is a valuable apparatus for the early recognition of the diverse antagonistic medicinal conditions. Mostly, the existing methods are based on machine learning with knowledge-based learning. This working note presents the Recurrent neural network (RNN) and Long short-term memory (LSTM) based embedding for automatic health text classification in the social media mining. For each task, two systems are built and that classify the tweet at the tweet level. RNN and LSTM are used for extracting features and non-linear activation function at the last layer facilitates to distinguish the tweets of different categories. The experiments are conducted on 2nd Social Media Mining for Health Applications Shared Task at AMIA 2017. The experiment results are considerable; however the proposed method is appropriate for the health text classification. This is primarily due to the reason that, it doesn't rely on any feature engineering mechanisms.

In this era of digitization, knowing the user's sociolect aspects have become essential features to build the user specific recommendation systems. These sociolect aspects could be found by mining the user's language sharing in the form of text in social media and reviews. This paper describes about the experiment that was performed in PAN Author Profiling 2017 shared task. The objective of the task is to find the sociolect aspects of the users from their tweets. The sociolect aspects considered in this experiment are user's gender and native language information. Here user's tweets written in a different language from their native language are represented as Document - Term Matrix with document frequency as the constraint. Further classification is done using the Support Vector Machine by taking gender and native language as target classes. This experiment attains the average accuracy of 73.42% in gender prediction and 76.26% in the native language identification task.

In general, Web pages are intended for large screen devices using HTML technology. Admittance of such Web pages on Small Screen Devices (SSDs) like mobile phones, palmtops, tablets, PDA etc., is increasing with the support of the current wireless technologies. However, SSDs have limited screen size, memory capacity and bandwidth, which makes accessing the Website on SSDs extremely difficult. There are many approaches have been proposed in literature to regenerate HTML Web pages suitable for browsing on SSDs. These proposed methods involve segment the Web page based on its semantic structure, followed by noise removal based on block features and to utilize the hierarchy of the content element to regenerate a page suitable for Small Screen Devices. But World Wide Web consortium stated that, HTML does not provide a better description of semantic structure of the web page contents. To overcome this draw backs, Web developers started to develop Web pages using new technologies like XML, Flash etc. It makes a way for new research methods. Therefore, we require an approach to reconstruct these Web pages suitable for SSDs. However, existing approaches in literature do not perform well for Web pages erected using XML and Flash. In this paper, we have emphasized a few issues of the existing approaches on XML, Flash Datasets and propose an approach that performs better on data set comprising of Flash Web pages.

This paper extends some geometric properties of a one-parameter family of relative entropies. This paper extends some geometric properties of a one-parameter family of relative entropies. These arise as redundancies when cumulants of compressed lengths are considered instead of expected compressed lengths. These parametric relative entropies are a generalization of the Kullback-Leibler divergence. They satisfy the Pythagorean property and behave like squared distances. This property, which was known for finite alphabet spaces, is now extended for general measure spaces. Existence of projections onto convex and certain closed sets is also established. Our results may have applications in the Rényi entropy maximization rule of statistical physics.

We study the Fermionisation of Seiberg-Witten mapped action (to order $θ$) of the $λφ^{4}$ theory coupled minimally with U(1) gauge field governed by Chern-Simon action. Starting from the corresponding partition function we derive non-perturbatively (in coupling constant) the partition function of the spin 1/2 theory following Polyakov spin factor formalism. We find the dual interacting fermionic theory is non local. This feature persist also in the limit of vanishing self coupling. In $θ\to 0$ limit, the commutative result is regained.

We construct dual formulation of linearised gravity in first order tetrad formalism in arbitrary dimensions within the path integral framework following the standard duality algorithm making use of the global shift symmetry of the tetrad field. The dual partition function is in terms of the (mixed symmetric) tensor field $Φ_{[ν_{1}ν_{2}...ν_{d-3}]ν}$ in {\it frame-like} formulation. We obtain in d-dimensions the dual Lagrangian in a closed form in terms of field strength of the dual frame-like field. Next by coupling a source with the (linear) Riemann tensor in d-dimensions, dual generating functional is obtained. Using this an operator map** between (linear) Riemann tensor and Riemann tensor corresponding to the dual field is derived and we also discuss the exchange of equations of motion and Bianchi identity.
