We update the phenomenological parameters of the Transverse Momentum Dependent (TMD, or unintegrated) gluon density in a proton proposed in our previous studies. This analysis is based on the analytical expression for starting gluon distribution which provides a self-consistent simultaneous description of HERA data on proton structure function $F_2(x,Q^2)$, reduced cross section for the electron-proton deep inelastic scattering at low $Q^2$ and soft hadron production in $pp$ collisions at the LHC conditions. We extend it to the whole kinematical region using the Catani-Ciafaloni-Fiorani-Marchesini (CCFM) evolution equation. Exploiting our previous results on a number of semihard QCD processes, we performed a combined fit to an extended set of LHC and HERA data, comprising a total of $509$ points from $16$ data sets. We illustrate our fit by applying the derived TMD gluon density in a proton to inclusive prompt photon photoproduction at HERA.

The data were recorded by the NA61/SHINE spectrometer at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron. Double-differential distributions were obtained in transverse momentum and rapidity. The mean multiplicities of $K_S^0$ mesons were determined to be $(5.95 \pm 0.19 (stat) \pm 0.22 (sys)) \times 10^{-2}$ at 31 GeV/$c$, $(7.61 \pm 0.13 (stat) \pm 0.31 (sys)) \times 10^{-2}$ at 40 GeV/$c$ and $(11.58 \pm 0.12 (stat) \pm 0.37 (sys)) \times 10^{-2}$ at 80 GeV/$c$. The results on $K^{0}_{S}$ production are compared with model calculations (Epos1.99, SMASH 2.0 and PHSD) as well as with published data from other experiments.

Collisions of atomic nuclei at relativistic velocities produce new particles, predominantly mesons containing one valence quark and one valence anti-quark. These particles are produced in strong interactions, which preserve an approximate symmetry between up ($u$) and down ($d$) quarks. In the case of $K$ meson production, if this symmetry were exact, it would result in equal numbers of charged ($K^+$ and $K^-$) and neutral ($K^0$ and $\overline K^0$) mesons in the final state. In this Letter, we report a measurement of the relative abundance of charged over neutral $K$ meson production in collisions of argon and scandium nuclei at a center-of-mass energy of 11.9 GeV per nucleon pair. We find that production of $\mathit{K^+}$ and $\mathit{K^-}$ mesons at mid-rapidity is $(18.4\pm 6.1)\%$ higher than that of the neutral $K$ mesons. The origin of this unexpected excess remains to be elucidated.

The NA61/SHINE experiment at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron studies the onset of deconfinement in strongly interacting matter through a beam energy scan of particle production in collisions of nuclei of varied sizes. This paper presents results on inclusive double-differential spectra, transverse momentum and rapidity distributions and mean multiplicities of $π^\pm$, $K^\pm$, $p$ and $\bar{p}$ produced in $^{40}$Ar+$^{45}$Sc collisions at beam momenta of 13$A$, 19$A$, 30$A$, 40$A$, 75$A$ and 150$A$~\GeVc. The analysis uses the 10\% most central collisions, where the observed forward energy defines centrality. The energy dependence of the $K^\pm$/$π^\pm$ ratios as well as of inverse slope parameters of the $K^\pm$ transverse mass distributions are placed in between those found in inelastic $p$+$p$ and central Pb+Pb collisions. The results obtained here establish a system-size dependence of hadron production properties that so far cannot be explained either within statistical or dynamical models.

The measurements were made using data collected at the NA61/SHINE experiment during two different data-taking periods, with increased phase space coverage in the second configuration due to the addition of new subdetectors. Particle identification via $dE/dx$ was employed to obtain double-differential production multiplicities of $π^+$, $π^-$, $p$, $\bar{p}$, $K^+$ and $K^-$. These measurements are presented as a function of laboratory momentum in intervals of laboratory polar angle covering the range from 0 to 450 mrad. They provide crucial inputs for current and future long-baseline neutrino experiments, where they are used to estimate the initial neutrino flux.

This paper reports measurements of two-pion Bose-Einstein (HBT) correlations in Be+Be collisions at a beam momentum of 150$A\,\mbox{GeV}/\textit{c}$ by the $\mbox{NA61/SHINE}$ experiment at the CERN SPS accelerator. The obtained momentum space correlation functions can be well described by a Lévy distributed source model. The transverse mass dependence of the Lévy source parameters is presented, and their possible theoretical interpretations are discussed. The results show that the Lévy exponent $α$ is approximately constant as a function of $m_{\rm{T}}$ , and far from both the Gaussian case of $α= 2$ or the conjectured value at the critical endpoint, $α= 0.5$. The radius scale parameter $R$ shows a slight decrease in $m_{\rm{T}}$, which can be explained as a signature of transverse flow. Finally, an approximately constant trend of the intercept parameter $λ$ as a function of $m_{\rm{T}}$ was observed, different from measurement results at RHIC.

We propose a new analytical expression for the Transverse Momentum Dependent (TMD, or unintegrated) gluon density in the proton. Essential phenomenological parameters are extracted from the LHC data on inclusive hadron production in $pp$ collisions at low transverse momenta, $p_T \sim 1$~GeV. The latter are described in the framework of modified soft quark-gluon string model, where gluonic state and non-zero transverse momentum of partons inside the proton are taken into account. To determine the parameters important at moderate and large $x$ we used measurements of inclusive $b$-jet and Higgs boson production at the LHC as well as latest HERA data on proton structure functions $F_2^c(x, Q^2)$ and $F_2^b(x, Q^2)$ and reduced cross sections $σ_{\rm red}^{c}(x,Q^2)$ and $σ_{\rm red}^{b}(x,Q^2)$. The Catani-Ciafaloni-Fiorani-Marchesini evolution equation is applied to extend the initial gluon distribution into the whole kinematical region. We have achieved simultaneous description of all considered processes with $χ^2/d.o.f. = 2.2$, thus moving forward to the global fit of TMD gluon density from collider data. The obtained TMD gluon distribution in a proton is available for public usage and implemented into the TMDlib package and Monte-Carlo event generator PEGASUS.

We consider the production of $Z$ bosons associated with heavy (charm and beauty) jets at the LHC energies using two scenarios based on the transverse momentum dependent (TMD) parton densities in a proton. The first of them employs the Catani-Ciafaloni-Fiorani-Marchesini gluon evolution and is implemented in the Monte-Carlo event generator PEGASUS. Here, the heavy quarks are always produced in the hard partonic scattering. The second scheme is based on the parton branching approach, currently implemented into the Monte-Carlo event generator CASCADE. In this scenario, the $Z$ + jets sample is generated and then events containing the heavy flavor jet in a final state are selected. We compare the predictions obtained within these two TMD-based approaches to each other, investigate their sensitivity to the TMD gluon densities in a proton and estimate the effects coming from parton showers and double parton scattering mechanism. Additionally, we compare our predictions with the results of traditional (collinear) pQCD calculations performed at NLO accuracy. It is shown that the TMD-based results agree with the LHC experimental data collected at $\sqrt s = 8$ and $13$ TeV. We discuss the sensitivity of observables to the quark distributions in a proton and present predictions to search for the intrinsic charm signal in forthcoming analyses of the LHC experimental data.

Measurements of $K^{*}(892)^0$ resonance production via its $K^{+}π^{-}$ decay mode in inelastic $p+p$ collisions at beam momenta 40 and 80 GeV/$c$ ($\sqrt{s_{NN}}=8.8$ and 12.3 GeV) are presented. The data were recorded by the NA61/SHINE hadron spectrometer at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron. The \textit{template} method was used to extract the $K^{*}(892)^0$ signal. Transverse momentum and rapidity spectra were obtained. The mean multiplicities of $K^{*}(892)^0$ mesons were found to be $(35.1 \pm 1.3 \mathrm{(stat)} \pm 3.6 \mathrm{(sys)) \cdot 10^{-3}}$ at 40 GeV/$c$ and $(58.3 \pm 1.9 \mathrm{(stat)} \pm 4.9 \mathrm{(sys)) \cdot 10^{-3}}$ at 80 GeV/$c$. The NA61/SHINE results are compared with the EPOS1.99 and Hadron Resonance Gas models as well as with world data. The transverse mass spectra of $K^{*}(892)^0$ mesons and other particles previously reported by NA61/SHINE were fitted within the Blast-Wave model. The transverse flow velocities are close to 0.1--0.2 of the speed of light and are significantly smaller than the ones determined in heavy nucleus-nucleus interactions at the same beam momenta.

A calculation of the inclusive spectra of pions and kaons produced in $pp$ collisions as functions of their transverse momentum $p_t$ at mid-rapidity is presented within the self-similarity approach. A satisfactory description of the data within a wide range of initial energies is presented. We focus mainly on the ratio of cross-sections of $K^\pm$ to $π^\pm$ mesons produced in $pp$ collisions as a function of $\sqrt{s}$. A fast rise of this ratio, when the initial energy increases starting from the kaon production threshold up to $\sqrt{s}\simeq$ 20-30 Gev, is revealed together with its very slow increase up to LHC energies. The energy dependence of this ratio is due to the conservation laws of four-momenta and quantum numbers of the initial and produced hadrons, and to the Regge behavior of cross-sections at large energies. The more or less satisfactory agreement of these ratios with NA61-SHINE, RHIC and LHC data is demonstrated.

The existing HADES detector will be upgraded by a new Forward Detector, which extends the detector acceptance into a range of polar angles that plays a crucial role for these investigations. The analysis of each channel is preceded by a consideration of the production cross-sections. Afterwards the expected signal count rates using a target consisting of either liquid hydrogen or polyethylene are summarized.

We review the current understanding of heavy quark parton distributions in nucleons and their impact on deep inelastic scattering, collider physics, and other processes at high energies. The determination of the heavy-quark parton distribution functions is particularly significant for the analysis of hard processes at LHC energies, including the forward rapidity high $x_\mathrm{F}$ domain. The contribution of "intrinsic" heavy quarks, which are multiply connected to the valence quarks of nucleons, is reviewed within non-perturbative physics which provides new information on the fundamental structure of hadrons in QCD. A new prediction for the non-perturbative intrinsic charm-anticharm asymmetry of the proton eigenstate has recently been obtained from a QCD lattice gauge theory calculation of the proton's $G_\mathrm{E}^p(Q^2)$ form factor. This form factor only arises from non-valence quarks and anti-quarks if they have different contributions in the proton's eigenstate. This result, together with the exclusive and inclusive connection and analytic constraints on the form of hadronic structure functions from Light-Front Holographic QCD (LFHQCD) predicts a significant non-perturbative $c(x,Q) - \bar{c}(x,Q)$ asymmetry in the proton structure function at high $x$, consistent with the dynamics predicted by intrinsic charm models. Recent ATLAS data on the associated production of prompt photons and charm-quark jets in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 8$ TeV has provided new constraints on non-perturbative intrinsic charm and tests of the LGTH predictions. We also focus on other experimental observables which have high sensitivity to the intrinsic heavy contributions to PDFs.

Transverse momentum dependent (TMD) parton distributions in a proton are important in high energy physics from both theoretical and phenomenological points of view. Using the latest RHIC and LHC data on the inclusive soft hadron production in $pp$ and $AA$ collisions at small transverse momenta, we determine the parameters of the initial TMD gluon density, derived in the framework of quark-gluon string model at the low scale $μ_0 \sim 1 - 2$ GeV and refine its large-$x$ behaviour using the LHC data on the $t \bar t$ production at $\sqrt s = 13$ TeV. Then, we apply the Catani-Ciafaloni-Fiorani-Marchesini (CCFM) evolution equation to extend the obtained TMD gluon density to the whole kinematical region. In addition, the complementary TMD valence and sea quark distributions are generated. The latter are evaluated in the approximation where the gluon-to-quark splitting occurs at the last evolution step using the TMD gluon-to-quark splitting function. Several phenomenological applications of the proposed TMD quark and gluon densities to the LHC processes are discussed.

The cross section of associated production of a Z boson with heavy flavor jets in $pp$ collisions is calculated using the SHERPA Monte Carlo generator and the analytical combined QCD approach based on kt-factorization at small x and conventional collinear QCD at large x. A satisfactory description of the ATLAS and CMS data on the $p_T$ spectra of Z bosons and c-jets in the whole rapidity, y, region is shown. Searching for the intrinsic charm (IC) contribution in these processes, which could be visible at large y > 1.5, we study observables very sensitive to non-zero IC contributions and less affected by theoretical QCD scale uncertainties. One of such observables is the so-called double ratio: the ratio of the differential cross section of Z + c production in the central region of |y| < 1.5 and in the forward region 1.5 < |y| < 2.5, divided by the same ratio for Z + b production. These observables could be more promising for the search of IC at LHC as compared to the observables considered earlier.

The determination of heavy-quark parton distribution functions (PDFs) is particularly significant for the analysis of hard processes at LHC energies. We show that a careful study of the inclusive production of open charm and the production of $γ$/$Z$/$W$ particles, accompanied by the heavy jets at large transverse momenta can give essential information on the intrinsic heavy quark (IQ) distributions. We also focus on the theoretical predictions concerning other observables which are very sensitive to the intrinsic charm contribution to PDFs including Higgs production at high xf and novel fixed target measurements which can be tested at the LHC.

We consider an observable very sensitive to the non-zero intrinsic charm (IC) contribution to the proton density. It is the ratio between the differential cross sections of the photon or $Z$-boson and $c$-jet production in the $pp$ collision, $γ(Z) + c$, and the $γ(Z)$ and the $b$-jet production. It is shown that this ratio can be approximately flat or increasing at large $γ(Z)$ transverse momenta $p_T$ and their pseudo-rapidities $1.5 < η< 2.4$ if the IC contribution is taken into account. On the contrary, in the absence of the IC this ratio decreases as $p_T$ grows. We also present the ratios of the cross sections integrated over $p_T$ as a function of the IC probability $w$. It is shown that these ratios are mostly independent on the theoretical uncertainties, and such predictions could therefore be much more promising for the search for the intrinsic charm signal at the LHC compared to the predictions for $p_T$-spectra, which significantly depend on these uncertainties.

We study the role of the non-perturbative input to the transverse momentum dependent (TMD) gluon density in hard processes at the LHC. We derive the input TMD gluon distribution at low scale mu0^2 ~ 1 GeV^2 from the fit of the inclusive hadron spectra measured at low transverse momenta in pp collisions at the LHC and demonstrate that the best description of these spectra for larger hadron transverse momenta can be achieved by matching the derived TMD gluon distribution with the exact solution of the Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov (BFKL) equation obtained at low x and small gluon transverse momenta outside the saturation region. Then, we extend the input TMD gluon density to higher mu^2 numerically using the Catani-Ciafoloni-Fiorani-Marchesini (CCFM) gluon evolution equation. A special attention is put to the phenomenological applications of obtained TMD gluon density to some LHC processes, which are sensitive to the gluon content of a proton.

Multiple Partonic Interactions are often crucial for interpreting results obtained at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The quest for a sound understanding of the dynamics behind MPI - particularly at this time when the LHC is due to start its "Run II" operations - has focused the aim of this workshop. MPI@LHC2014 concentrated mainly on the phenomenology of LHC measurements whilst kee** in perspective those results obtained at previous hadron colliders. The workshop has also debated some of the state-of-the-art theoretical considerations and the modeling of MPI in Monte Carlo event generators. The topics debated in the workshop included: Phenomenology of MPI processes and multiparton distributions; Considerations for the description of MPI in Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD); Measuring multiple partonic interactions; Experimental results on inelastic hadronic collisions: underlying event, minimum bias, forward energy flow; Monte Carlo generator development and tuning; Connections with low-x phenomena, diffraction, heavy-ion physics and cosmic rays. In a total of 57 plenary talks the workshop covered a wide range of experimental results, Monte Carlo development and tuning, phenomenology and dedicated measurements of MPI which were produced with data from the LHC's Run I. Recent progress of theoretical understanding of MPI in pp, pA and AA collisions as well as the role of MPI in diffraction and small-x physics were also covered. The workshop forstered close contact between the experimental and theoretical communities. It provided a setting to discuss many of the different aspects of MPI, eventually identifying them as a unifying concept between apparently different lines of research and evaluating their impact on the LHC physics programme.

Our theoretical study demonstrates that investigations of the intrinsic heavy quark contributions look very promising in hard processes like $pp\rightarrow K^\pm+X$ and $pp\rightarrowγ/Z/W +c(b)+X$. A possible observation of these components at the CBM, NICA experiments is discussed also.

A ratio of $Z+$ heavy jets over $W+$ heavy jets differential cross section as a function of the leading jet transverse momentum is proposed to maximize the sensitivity to the intrinsic charm component of the proton.

We study the unintegrated, or transverse momentum dependent (TMD) gluon distribution obtained from the best description of the LHC data on the inclusive spectra of hadrons produced in the mid-rapidity region and low transverse momenta at starting scale Q0^2 = 1 GeV^2. To extend this gluon density at higher Q^2 we apply the Catani-Ciafoloni-Fiorani-Marchesini (CCFM) evolution equation. The influence of the initial (starting) non-perturbative gluon distribution is studied. The application of the obtained gluon density to the analysis of the ep deep inelastic scattering allows us to get the results which describe reasonably well the H1 and ZEUS data on the longitudinal proton structure function FL(x,Q^2). So, the connection between the soft processes at LHC and small x physics at HERA has been confirmed and extended to a wide kinematical region.

We analyze the inclusive production of the open strangeness and the semi-inclusive hard processes of the photon and vector boson production accompanied by the $c$- or $b$-jets in $pp$ collisions. We show that one should select the parton-level (sub)processes (and final-state signatures) that are the most sensitive to the intrinsic heavy quark contributions. We present some predictions for these processes made within the perturbative QCD including the intrinsic strangeness and intrinsic charm in the proton that can be verified in the NA61 experiment and at LHC.

The LHC with $pp$-collisions at $\sqrt{s}=$ 7--14 TeV will obviously supply extra unique information concerning the above-mentioned component of the proton. To use the LHC potential, first of all, one should select the parton-level (sub)processes (and final-state signatures) that are most sensitive to the intrinsic heavy quark contributions. To this end inclusive production of $c(b)$-jets accompanied by photons is considered. On the basis of the performed theoretical study it is demonstrated that the investigation of the intrinsic heavy quark contributions looks very promising at the LHC in processes such as $pp\rightarrow γ+ c(b)+X$.

Hadron inclusive spectra in pp collisions are analyzed within the modified quark-gluon string model including both the longitudinal and transverse motion of quarks in the proton in the wide region of initial energies. The self-consistent analysis shows that the experimental data on the inclusive spectra of light hadrons like pions and kaons at ISR energies can be satisfactorily described at transverse momenta not larger than 1-2 GeV/c. We discuss some difficulties to apply this model at energies above the ISR and suggest to include the distribution of gluons in the proton unintegrated over the internal transverse momentum. It leads to an increase in the inclusive spectra of hadrons and allows us to extend the satisfactory description of the data in the central rapidity region at energies higher than ISR.
