One pulsar, two white dwarfs, and a planet confirming the strong equivalence principle
Abstract: The strong equivalence principle is a cornerstone of general relativity, tested with exquisite accuracy in the Solar system. However, tests in the strong-field regime require a compact object. Currently, PSR J0337+1715 is the unique millisecond pulsar found in a triple stellar system, orbiting two white dwarfs within an area comparable to the orbit of the Earth. This configuration offers the oppor… ▽ More

Semileptonic B Decays
Abstract: The following is an overview of the measurements of the CKM matrix elements V_cb and V_ub that are based on detailed studies of semileptonic B decays by the BABAR and Belle Collaborations and recent advances in QCD calculations. In addition, a new and improved measurement of the ratios R(D^(*))= BF(Bbar --> D^(*) tau^- nu_tau)/BF(Bbar -->D^(*) ell^- nu_ell) is presented. Here D^(*) refers to a D o… ▽ More

Flavor Physics in the Quark Sector
Abstract: One of the major challenges of particle physics has been to gain an in-depth understanding of the role of quark flavor and measurements and theoretical interpretations of their results have advanced tremendously: apart from masses and quantum numbers of flavor particles, there now exist detailed measurements of the characteristics of their interactions allowing stringent tests of Standard Model… ▽ More

Extraction of |Vub| with Reduced Dependence on Shape Functions
Abstract: Using BaBar measurements of the inclusive electron spectrum in B->X_u e nu decays and the inclusive photon spectrum in B->X_s gamma decays, we extract the magnitude of the CKM matrix element Vub. The extraction is based on theoretical calculations designed to reduce the theoretical uncertainties by exploiting the assumption that the leading shape functions are the same for all b->q transitions (… ▽ More

Determination of the CKM Matrix Element |V_cb| from Semileptonic B Decays
Abstract: We report studies of semileptonic decays, B --> X_c l nu, based on a sample of 88 million BB events recorded with the BABAR detector. We have measured four moments of the electron energy distribution and four moments of the hadronic mass distribution, each as a function of the minimum electron energy. From these moments we determine the inclusive branching fraction, the CKM matrix element |V_cb|… ▽ More

A preliminary Measurement of Hadronic Mass Moments in Semileptonic B Meson Decays
Abstract: A preliminary measurement of the second moments of the hadron mass in B --> X l nu decays by the BABAR Collaboration is reported. These measurements are performed as a function of the lepton momentum above a given threshold.
