Abstract:
Using 7.33~fb$^{-1}$ of $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data collected by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies in the range of $\sqrt{s}=4.128 - 4.226$~GeV, we search for the rare decays $D_{s}^+\to h^+(h^{0})e^{+}e^{-}$, where $h$ represents a kaon or pion. By requiring the $e^{+}e^{-}$ invariant mass to be consistent with a $φ(1020)$, $0.98<M(e^{+}e^{-})<1.04$ ~GeV/$c^2$, the decay $D_s^+\toπ^+φ,φ\to e^{+}e^{-}$ is observed with a statistical significance of 7.8$σ$, and evidence for the decay $D_s^+\toρ^+φ,φ\to e^{+}e^{-}$ is found for the first time with a statistical significance of 4.4$σ$. The decay branching fractions are measured to be $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+\toπ^+φ, φ\to e^{+}e^{-} )=(1.17^{+0.23}_{-0.21}\pm0.03)\times 10^{-5}$, and $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+\toρ^+φ, φ\to e^{+}e^{-} )=(2.44^{+0.67}_{-0.62}\pm 0.16)\times 10^{-5}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. No significant signal for the three four-body decays of $D_{s}^{+}\to π^{+}π^{0}e^{+}e^{-},\ D_{s}^{+}\to K^{+}π^{0}e^{+}e^{-}$, and $D_{s}^{+}\to K_{S}^{0}π^{+}e^{+}e^{-}$ is observed. For $D_{s}^{+}\to π^{+}π^{0}e^{+}e^{-}$, the $φ$ mass region is vetoed to minimize the long-distance effects. The 90$\%$ confidence level upper limits set on the branching fractions of these decays are in the range of $(7.0-8.1)\times 10^{-5}$.

The Fourier neural operator (FNO) framework is applied to the large eddy simulation (LES) of three-dimensional compressible Rayleigh-Taylor (RT) turbulence with miscible fluids at Atwood number $A_t=0.5$, stratification parameter $Sr=1.0$, and Reynolds numbers $Re=10000$ and 30000. The FNO model is first used for predicting three-dimensional compressible turbulence. The different magnitudes of physical fields are normalized using root mean square values for an easier training of FNO models. In the \emph{a posteriori} tests, the FNO model outperforms the velocity gradient model (VGM), the dynamic Smagorinsky model (DSM), and implicit large eddy simulation (ILES) in predicting various statistical quantities and instantaneous structures, and is particularly superior to traditional LES methods in predicting temperature fields and velocity divergence. Moreover, the computational efficiency of the FNO model is much higher than that of traditional LES methods. FNO models trained with short-time, low Reynolds number data exhibit a good generalization performance on longer-time predictions and higher Reynolds numbers in the \emph{a posteriori} tests.

Active optical waveguides combine light source and waveguides together in an individual component, which are essential for the integrated photonic chips. Although 1D luminescent materials based optical waveguides were extensively investigated, 2D waveguides allow photons to flow within a plane and serve as an ideal component for the ultracompact photonic circuits. Nevertheless, light guiding in 2D planar structures normally relies on the precise control of molecular orientation, which is complicated and low yield. Here, we report a strategy to guide polarized light in 2D microflakes by making use of the out-of-plane (OP) orientation of self-trapped excitons in as-synthesized 2D perovskite microplates. A space confined crystallization method is developed to synthesize 2D perovskite microflakes with dominated broad self-trapped excitons emission at room temperature, which are highly OP orientated with a percentage of the OP component over 85%. Taking advantages of the negligible absorption coefficient and improved coupling efficiency of OP orientated self-trapped exciton emission to the planar waveguide mode of the as-synthesized perovskite microflakes, we have achieved a broadband polarized light guiding with a full width at half maximum over 120 nm. Our findings provide a promising platform for the development of ultracompact photonic circuits.

In this paper, we advance the understanding of neural network training dynamics by examining the intricate interplay of various factors introduced by weight parameters in the initialization process. Motivated by the foundational work of Luo et al. (J. Mach. Learn. Res., Vol. 22, Iss. 1, No. 71, pp 3327-3373), we explore the gradient descent dynamics of neural networks through the lens of macroscopic limits, where we analyze its behavior as width $m$ tends to infinity. Our study presents a unified approach with refined techniques designed for multi-layer fully connected neural networks, which can be readily extended to other neural network architectures. Our investigation reveals that gradient descent can rapidly drive deep neural networks to zero training loss, irrespective of the specific initialization schemes employed by weight parameters, provided that the initial scale of the output function $κ$ surpasses a certain threshold. This regime, characterized as the theta-lazy area, accentuates the predominant influence of the initial scale $κ$ over other factors on the training behavior of neural networks. Furthermore, our approach draws inspiration from the Neural Tangent Kernel (NTK) paradigm, and we expand its applicability. While NTK typically assumes that $\lim_{m\to\infty}\frac{\log κ}{\log m}=\frac{1}{2}$, and imposes each weight parameters to scale by the factor $\frac{1}{\sqrt{m}}$, in our theta-lazy regime, we discard the factor and relax the conditions to $\lim_{m\to\infty}\frac{\log κ}{\log m}>0$. Similar to NTK, the behavior of overparameterized neural networks within the theta-lazy regime trained by gradient descent can be effectively described by a specific kernel. Through rigorous analysis, our investigation illuminates the pivotal role of $κ$ in governing the training dynamics of neural networks.

A unified analytical solution is presented for constructing the phase space near collinear libration points in the Circular Restricted Three-body Problem (CRTBP), encompassing Lissajous orbits and quasihalo orbits, their invariant manifolds, as well as transit and non-transit orbits. Traditional methods could only derive separate analytical solutions for the invariant manifolds of Lissajous orbits and halo orbits, falling short for the invariant manifolds of quasihalo orbits. By introducing a coupling coefficient η and a bifurcation equation, a unified series solution for these orbits is systematically developed using a coupling-induced bifurcation mechanism and Lindstedt-Poincaré method. Analyzing the third-order bifurcation equation reveals bifurcation conditions for halo orbits, quasihalo orbits, and their invariant manifolds. Furthermore, new families of periodic orbits similar to halo orbits are discovered, and non-periodic/quasi-periodic orbits, such as transit orbits and non-transit orbits, are found to undergo bifurcations. When η = 0, the series solution describes Lissajous orbits and their invariant manifolds, transit, and non-transit orbits. As η varies from zero to non-zero values, the solution seamlessly transitions to describe quasihalo orbits and their invariant manifolds, as well as newly bifurcated transit and non-transit orbits. This unified analytical framework provides a more comprehensive understanding of the complex phase space structures near collinear libration points in the CRTBP.

This paper focuses on understanding the predominant video creation pipeline, i.e., compositional video editing with six main types of editing components, including video effects, animation, transition, filter, sticker, and text. In contrast to existing visual representation learning of visual materials (i.e., images/videos), we aim to learn visual representations of editing actions/components that are generally applied on raw materials. We start by proposing the first large-scale dataset for editing components of video creation, which covers about $3,094$ editing components with $618,800$ videos. Each video in our dataset is rendered by various image/video materials with a single editing component, which supports atomic visual understanding of different editing components. It can also benefit several downstream tasks, e.g., editing component recommendation, editing component recognition/retrieval, etc. Existing visual representation methods perform poorly because it is difficult to disentangle the visual appearance of editing components from raw materials. To that end, we benchmark popular alternative solutions and propose a novel method that learns to attend to the appearance of editing components regardless of raw materials. Our method achieves favorable results on editing component retrieval/recognition compared to the alternative solutions. A user study is also conducted to show that our representations cluster visually similar editing components better than other alternatives. Furthermore, our learned representations used to transition recommendation tasks achieve state-of-the-art results on the AutoTransition dataset. The code and dataset will be released for academic use.

Recent advancements in neural network quantisation have yielded remarkable outcomes, with three-bit networks reaching state-of-the-art full-precision accuracy in complex tasks. These achievements present valuable opportunities for accelerating neural networks by computing in reduced precision. Implementing it on FPGAs can take advantage of bit-level reconfigurability, which is not available on conventional CPUs and GPUs. Simultaneously, the high data intensity of neural network processing has inspired computing-in-memory paradigms, including on FPGA platforms. By programming the effects of trained model weights as lookup operations in soft logic, the transfer of weight data from memory units can be avoided, alleviating the memory bottleneck. However, previous methods face poor scalability - the high logic utilisation limiting them to small networks/sub-networks of binary models with low accuracy. In this paper, we introduce Table Lookup Multiply-Accumulate (TLMAC) as a framework to compile and optimise quantised neural networks for scalable lookup-based processing. TLMAC clusters and maps unique groups of weights to lookup-based processing elements, enabling highly parallel computation while taking advantage of parameter redundancy. Further place and route algorithms are proposed to reduce LUT utilisation and routing congestion. We demonstrate that TLMAC significantly improves the scalability of previous related works. Our efficient logic map** and high degree of reuse enables entire ImageNet-scale quantised models with full-precision accuracy to be implemented using lookup-based computing on one commercially available FPGA.

We report a first study of the semileptonic decay $D^0\rightarrow K^-π^0μ^{+}ν_μ$ by analyzing an $e^+e^-$ annihilation data sample of $7.9~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. The absolute branching fraction of $D^0\to K^-π^0μ^{+}ν_μ$ is measured for the first time to be $(0.729 \pm 0.014_{\rm stat} \pm 0.011_{\rm syst})\%$. Based on an amplitude analysis, the $S\text{-}{\rm wave}$ contribution is determined to be $(5.76 \pm 0.35_{\rm stat} \pm 0.29_{\rm syst})\%$ of the total decay rate in addition to the dominated $K^{*}(892)^-$ component. The branching fraction of $D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-μ^+ν_μ$ is given to be $(2.062 \pm 0.039_{\rm stat} \pm 0.032_{\rm syst})\%$, which improves the precision of the world average by a factor of 5. Combining with the world average of ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-e^+ν_e)$, the ratio of the branching fractions obtained is $\frac{{\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-μ^+ν_μ)}{{\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-e^+ν_e)} = 0.96\pm0.08$, in agreement with lepton flavor universality. Furthermore, assuming single-pole dominance parameterization, the most precise hadronic form factor ratios for $D^0\to K^{*}(892)^{-} μ^+ν_μ$ are extracted to be $r_{V}=V(0)/A_1(0)=1.37 \pm 0.09_{\rm stat} \pm 0.03_{\rm syst}$ and $r_{2}=A_2(0)/A_1(0)=0.76 \pm 0.06_{\rm stat} \pm 0.02_{\rm syst}$.

In recent years, large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated substantial potential in addressing automatic program repair (APR) tasks. However, the current evaluation of these models for APR tasks focuses solely on the limited context of the single function or file where the bug is located, overlooking the valuable information in the repository-level context. This paper investigates the performance of popular LLMs in handling repository-level repair tasks. We introduce RepoBugs, a new benchmark comprising 124 typical repository-level bugs from open-source repositories. Preliminary experiments using GPT3.5 based on the function where the error is located, reveal that the repair rate on RepoBugs is only 22.58%, significantly diverging from the performance of GPT3.5 on function-level bugs in related studies. This underscores the importance of providing repository-level context when addressing bugs at this level. However, the repository-level context offered by the preliminary method often proves redundant and imprecise and easily exceeds the prompt length limit of LLMs. To solve the problem, we propose a simple and universal repository-level context extraction method (RLCE) designed to provide more precise context for repository-level code repair tasks. Evaluations of three mainstream LLMs show that RLCE significantly enhances the ability to repair repository-level bugs. The improvement reaches a maximum of 160% compared to the preliminary method. Additionally, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of the effectiveness and limitations of RLCE, along with the capacity of LLMs to address repository-level bugs, offering valuable insights for future research.

Deep reinforcement learning excels in numerous large-scale practical applications. However, existing performance analyses ignores the unique characteristics of continuous-time control problems, is unable to directly estimate the generalization error of the Bellman optimal loss and require a boundedness assumption. Our work focuses on continuous-time control problems and proposes a method that is applicable to all such problems where the transition function satisfies semi-group and Lipschitz properties. Under this method, we can directly analyze the \emph{a priori} generalization error of the Bellman optimal loss. The core of this method lies in two transformations of the loss function. To complete the transformation, we propose a decomposition method for the maximum operator. Additionally, this analysis method does not require a boundedness assumption. Finally, we obtain an \emph{a priori} generalization error without the curse of dimensionality.

Generative Adversarial Imitation Learning (GAIL) trains a generative policy to mimic a demonstrator. It uses on-policy Reinforcement Learning (RL) to optimize a reward signal derived from a GAN-like discriminator. A major drawback of GAIL is its training instability - it inherits the complex training dynamics of GANs, and the distribution shift introduced by RL. This can cause oscillations during training, harming its sample efficiency and final policy performance. Recent work has shown that control theory can help with the convergence of a GAN's training. This paper extends this line of work, conducting a control-theoretic analysis of GAIL and deriving a novel controller that not only pushes GAIL to the desired equilibrium but also achieves asymptotic stability in a 'one-step' setting. Based on this, we propose a practical algorithm 'Controlled-GAIL' (C-GAIL). On MuJoCo tasks, our controlled variant is able to speed up the rate of convergence, reduce the range of oscillation and match the expert's distribution more closely both for vanilla GAIL and GAIL-DAC.

The evolution of deep learning and artificial intelligence has significantly reshaped technological landscapes. However, their effective application in crucial sectors such as medicine demands more than just superior performance, but trustworthiness as well. While interpretability plays a pivotal role, existing explainable AI (XAI) approaches often do not reveal {\em Clever Hans} behavior where a model makes (ungeneralizable) correct predictions using spurious correlations or biases in data. Likewise, current post-hoc XAI methods are susceptible to generating unjustified counterfactual examples. In this paper, we approach XAI with an innovative {\em model debugging} methodology realized through Jacobian Saliency Map (JSM). To cast the problem into a concrete context, we employ Alzheimer's disease (AD) diagnosis as the use case, motivated by its significant impact on human lives and the formidable challenge in its early detection, stemming from the intricate nature of its progression. We introduce an interpretable, multimodal model for AD classification over its multi-stage progression, incorporating JSM as a modality-agnostic tool that provides insights into volumetric changes indicative of brain abnormalities. Our extensive evaluation including ablation study manifests the efficacy of using JSM for model debugging and interpretation, while significantly enhancing model accuracy as well.

In the field of Medical Imaging, extensive research has been dedicated to leveraging its potential in uncovering critical diagnostic features in patients. Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven medical diagnosis relies on sophisticated machine learning and deep learning models to analyze, detect, and identify diseases from medical images. Despite the remarkable performance of these models, characterized by high accuracy, they grapple with trustworthiness issues. The introduction of a subtle perturbation to the original image empowers adversaries to manipulate the prediction output, redirecting it to other targeted or untargeted classes. Furthermore, the scarcity of publicly available medical images, constituting a bottleneck for reliable training, has led contemporary algorithms to depend on pretrained models grounded on a large set of natural images -- a practice referred to as transfer learning. However, a significant {\em domain discrepancy} exists between natural and medical images, which causes AI models resulting from transfer learning to exhibit heightened {\em vulnerability} to adversarial attacks. This paper proposes a {\em domain assimilation} approach that introduces texture and color adaptation into transfer learning, followed by a texture preservation component to suppress undesired distortion. We systematically analyze the performance of transfer learning in the face of various adversarial attacks under different data modalities, with the overarching goal of fortifying the model's robustness and security in medical imaging tasks. The results demonstrate high effectiveness in reducing attack efficacy, contributing toward more trustworthy transfer learning in biomedical applications.

Empirical and theoretical works show that the input weights of two-layer neural networks, when initialized with small values, converge towards isolated orientations. This phenomenon, referred to as condensation, indicates that the gradient descent methods tend to spontaneously reduce the complexity of neural networks during the training process. In this work, we elucidate the mechanisms behind the condensation phenomena occurring in the training of three-layer neural networks and distinguish it from the training of two-layer neural networks. Through rigorous theoretical analysis, we establish the blow-up property of effective dynamics and present a sufficient condition for the occurrence of condensation, findings that are substantiated by experimental results. Additionally, we explore the association between condensation and the low-rank bias observed in deep matrix factorization.

To address the issue, we present Neeko, an innovative framework designed for efficient multiple characters imitation. Unlike existing methods, Neeko employs a dynamic low-rank adapter (LoRA) strategy, enabling it to adapt seamlessly to diverse characters. Our framework breaks down the role-playing process into agent pre-training, multiple characters playing, and character incremental learning, effectively handling both seen and unseen roles. This dynamic approach, coupled with distinct LoRA blocks for each character, enhances Neeko's adaptability to unique attributes, personalities, and speaking patterns. Fine-tuning is often necessary to enhance the adaptability of Large Language Models (LLM) to downstream tasks. Nonetheless, the process of updating billions of parameters demands significant computational resources and training time, which poses a substantial obstacle to the widespread application of large-scale models in various scenarios. To address this issue, Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning (PEFT) has emerged as a prominent paradigm in recent research. However, current PEFT approaches that employ a limited set of global parameters (such as LoRA, which adds low-rank approximation matrices to all weights) face challenges in flexibly combining different computational modules in downstream tasks. In this work, we introduce a novel PEFT method: MoELoRA. We consider LoRA as Mixture of Experts (MoE), and to mitigate the random routing phenomenon observed in MoE, we propose the utilization of contrastive learning to encourage experts to learn distinct features. We conducted experiments on 11 tasks in math reasoning and common-sense reasoning benchmarks. With the same number of parameters, our approach outperforms LoRA significantly. In math reasoning, MoELoRA achieved an average performance that was 4.2% higher than LoRA, and demonstrated competitive performance compared to the 175B GPT-3.5 on several benchmarks.

By performing a simultaneous fit to the dressed cross sections for both processes, one possible new structure around 3.9 GeV/$c^2$ is observed for the first time, in addition to seven known resonances $ψ(3770)$, $ψ(4040)$, $ψ(4160)$, $Y(4230)$, $Y(4360)$, $ψ(4415)$, and $Y(4660)$. We report a search for a heavy neutral lepton (HNL) that mixes predominantly with $ν_τ$. The search utilizes data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. The data sample was collected at and just below the center-of-mass energies of the $Υ(4S)$ and $Υ(5S)$ resonances and has an integrated luminosity of $915~\textrm{fb}^{-1}$, corresponding to $(836\pm 12)\times 10^6$ $e^+e^\toτ^+τ^-$ events. We search for production of the HNL (denoted $N$) in the decay $τ^-\to π^- N$ followed by its decay via $N \to μ^+μ^- ν_τ$. The search focuses on the parameter-space region in which the HNL is long lived, so that the $μ^+μ^-$ originate from a common vertex that is significantly displaced from the collision point of the KEKB beams. Consistent with the expected background yield, one event is observed in the data sample after application of all the event-selection criteria. We report limits on the mixing parameter of the HNL with the $τ$ neutrino as a function of the HNL mass.

The branching fractions are measured to be $\mathcal{B}(η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-e^+e^-)=(2.45\pm0.02(\rm{stat.})\pm0.08(\rm{syst.})) \times10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}(η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-μ^+μ^-)=(2.16\pm0.12(\rm{stat.})\pm0.06(\rm{syst.}))\times10^{-5}$, and the ratio is $\frac{\mathcal{B}(η'\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-}e^{+}e^{-})}{\mathcal{B}(η'\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-}μ^{+}μ^{-})} = 113.4\pm0.9(\rm{stat.})\pm3.7(\rm{syst.})$. In addition, by combining the $η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-e^+e^-$ and $η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-μ^+μ^-$ decays, the slope parameter of the electromagnetic transition form factor is measured to be $b_{η'}=1.30\pm0.19\ (\mathrm{GeV}/c^{2})^{-2}$, which is consistent with previous measurements from BESIII and theoretical predictions from the VMD model. The asymmetry in the angle between the $π^+π^-$ and $l^+l^-$ decay planes, which has the potential to reveal the $CP$-violation originating from an unconventional electric dipole transition, is also investigated. The asymmetry parameters are determined to be $\mathcal{A}_{CP}(η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-e^+e^-)=(-0.21\pm0.73(\rm{stat.})\pm0.01(\rm{syst.}))\%$ and $\mathcal{A}_{CP}(η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-μ^+μ^-)=(0.62\pm4.71(\rm{stat.})\pm0.08(\rm{syst.}))\%$, implying that no evidence of $CP$-violation is observed at the present statistics. Finally, an axion-like particle is searched for via the decay $η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-a, a\rightarrow e^+e^-$, and upper limits of the branching fractions are presented for the mass assumptions of the axion-like particle in the range of $0-500\ \mathrm{MeV}/c^{2}$.

These are the first measurements with momentum dependence in this energy region. Our measurement shows a significant discrepancy from calculations with the existing fragmentation functions. To address this discrepancy, a new QCD analysis is performed at the next-to-next-to-leading order with hadron mass corrections and higher twist effects, which can explain both the established high-energy data and our measurements reasonably well.

In the ambitious realm of space AI, the integration of federated learning (FL) with low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellations holds immense promise. However, many challenges persist in terms of feasibility, learning efficiency, and convergence. These hurdles stem from the bottleneck in communication, characterized by sporadic and irregular connectivity between LEO satellites and ground stations, coupled with the limited computation capability of satellite edge computing (SEC). This paper proposes a novel FL-SEC framework that empowers LEO satellites to execute large-scale machine learning (ML) tasks onboard efficiently. Its key components include i) personalized learning via divide-and-conquer, which identifies and eliminates redundant satellite images and converts complex multi-class classification problems to simple binary classification, enabling rapid and energy-efficient training of lightweight ML models suitable for IoT/edge devices on satellites; ii) orbital model retraining, which generates an aggregated "orbital model" per orbit and retrains it before sending to the ground station, significantly reducing the required communication rounds. We conducted experiments using Jetson Nano, an edge device closely mimicking the limited compute on LEO satellites, and a real satellite dataset. The results underscore the effectiveness of our approach, highlighting SEC's ability to run lightweight ML models on real and high-resolution satellite imagery. Our approach dramatically reduces FL convergence time by nearly 30 times, and satellite energy consumption down to as low as 1.38 watts, all while maintaining an exceptional accuracy of up to 96%.

We present measurements of the Born cross sections for the processes $e^+e^-\rightarrowωχ_{c1}$ and $ωχ_{c2}$ at center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}$ from 4.308 to 4.951 GeV. The measurements are performed with data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.0 $\rm{fb}^{-1}$ collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Assuming the $e^+e^-\rightarrowωχ_{c2}$ signals come from a single resonance, the mass and width are determined to be $M=(4413.6\pm9.0\pm0.8)$ MeV/$c^2$ and $Γ=(110.5\pm15.0\pm2.9)$ MeV, respectively, which is consistent with the parameters of the well-established resonance $ψ(4415)$. In addition, we also use one single resonance to describe the $e^+e^-\rightarrowωχ_{c1}$ lineshape, and determine the mass and width to be $M=(4544.2\pm18.7\pm1.7)$ MeV/$c^2$ and $Γ=(116.1\pm33.5\pm1.7)$ MeV, respectively. The structure of this lineshape, observed for the first time, requires further understanding.

Inverse molecular design with diffusion models holds great potential for advancements in material and drug discovery. Despite success in unconditional molecule generation, integrating multiple properties such as synthetic score and gas permeability as condition constraints into diffusion models remains unexplored. We present the Graph Diffusion Transformer (Graph DiT) for multi-conditional molecular generation. Graph DiT has a condition encoder to learn the representation of numerical and categorical properties and utilizes a Transformer-based graph denoiser to achieve molecular graph denoising under conditions. Unlike previous graph diffusion models that add noise separately on the atoms and bonds in the forward diffusion process, we propose a graph-dependent noise model for training Graph DiT, designed to accurately estimate graph-related noise in molecules. We extensively validate the Graph DiT for multi-conditional polymer and small molecule generation. Results demonstrate our superiority across metrics from distribution learning to condition control for molecular properties. A polymer inverse design task for gas separation with feedback from domain experts further demonstrates its practical utility.

The $D^+\to f_0(500)μ^+ν_μ$ decay is observed for the first time. By analyzing simultaneously the differential decay rates of $D^+\to f_0(500) μ^+ν_μ$ and $D^+\to f_0(500) e^+ν_e$ in different $\ell^+ν_\ell$ four-momentum transfer intervals, the product of the relevant hadronic form factor $f^{f_0}_{+}(0)$ and the magnitude of the $c\to d$ Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cd}|$ is determined to be $f_{+}^{f_0} (0)|V_{cd}|=0.0787\pm0.0060_{\rm stat}\pm0.0033_{\rm syst}$ for the first time. With the input of $|V_{cd}|$ from the global fit in the standard model, we determine $f_{+}^{f_0} (0)=0.350\pm0.027_{\rm stat}\pm0.015_{\rm syst}$. The absolute branching fractions of $D^+\to f_0(500)_{(π^+π^-)}μ^+ν_μ$ and $D^+\to ρ^0_{(π^+π^-)} μ^+ν_μ$ are determined as $(0.72\pm0.13_{\rm stat}\pm0.10_{\rm syst})\times10^{-3}$ and $(1.64\pm0.13_{\rm stat}\pm0.11_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-3}$. Combining these results with those of previous BESIII measurements on their semielectronic counterparts from the same data sample, we test lepton flavor universality by measuring the branching fraction ratios ${\mathcal B}_{D^+\to ρ^0 μ^+ν_μ}/{\mathcal B}_{D^+\to ρ^0 e^+ν_e}=0.88\pm0.10$ and ${\mathcal B}_{D^+\to f_0(500) μ^+ν_μ}/{\mathcal B}_{D^+\to f_0(500) e^+ν_e}=1.14\pm0.28$, which are compatible with the standard model expectation.

As the capabilities of large multimodal models (LMMs) continue to advance, evaluating the performance of LMMs emerges as an increasing need. Additionally, there is an even larger gap in evaluating the advanced knowledge and reasoning abilities of LMMs in non-English contexts such as Chinese. We introduce CMMMU, a new Chinese Massive Multi-discipline Multimodal Understanding benchmark designed to evaluate LMMs on tasks demanding college-level subject knowledge and deliberate reasoning in a Chinese context. CMMMU is inspired by and strictly follows the annotation and analysis pattern of MMMU.
CMMMU includes 12k manually collected multimodal questions from college exams, quizzes, and textbooks, covering six core disciplines: Art & Design, Business, Science, Health & Medicine, Humanities & Social Science, and Tech & Engineering, like its companion, MMMU. These questions span 30 subjects and comprise 39 highly heterogeneous image types, such as charts, diagrams, maps, tables, music sheets, and chemical structures.
CMMMU focuses on complex perception and reasoning with domain-specific knowledge in the Chinese context. We evaluate 11 open-source LLMs and one proprietary GPT-4V(ision). Even GPT-4V only achieves accuracies of 42%, indicating a large space for improvement. CMMMU will boost the community to build the next-generation LMMs towards expert artificial intelligence and promote the democratization of LMMs by providing diverse language contexts.

This article studies the problem of image segmentation-based semantic communication in autonomous driving. In real traffic scenes, detecting the key objects (e.g., vehicles, pedestrians and obstacles) is more crucial than that of other objects to guarantee driving safety. Therefore, we propose a vehicular image segmentation-oriented semantic communication system, termed VIS-SemCom, where image segmentation features of important objects are transmitted to reduce transmission redundancy. First, to accurately extract image semantics, we develop a semantic codec based on Swin Transformer architecture, which expands the perceptual field thus improving the segmentation accuracy. Next, we propose a multi-scale semantic extraction scheme via assigning the number of Swin Transformer blocks for diverse resolution features, thus highlighting the important objects' accuracy. Furthermore, the importance-aware loss is invoked to emphasize the important objects, and an online hard sample mining (OHEM) strategy is proposed to handle small sample issues in the dataset. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed VIS-SemCom can achieve a coding gain of nearly 6 dB with a 60% mean intersection over union (mIoU), reduce the transmitted data amount by up to 70% with a 60% mIoU, and improve the segmentation intersection over union (IoU) of important objects by 4%, compared to traditional transmission scheme.

We consider the Gauss curvature type flow for uniformly convex hypersurfaces in the hyperbolic space $\mathbb{H}^{n+1}\ (n\geqslant 2)$. We prove that if the initial closed hypersurface is smooth and uniformly convex, then the smooth solution exists for all positive time and converges smoothly and exponentially to a geodesic sphere centered at the origin. The key step is to prove the upper bound of Gauss curvature and that uniform convexity preserves along the flow. As an application, we provide a new proof for an Alexandrov-Fenchel inequality comparing $(n-2)$th quermassintegral and volume of convex domains in $\mathbb{H}^{n+1}\ (n\geqslant 2)$.

Using 24.1 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the Born cross sections and effective form factors of the $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowΣ^{+}\barΣ^{-}$ reaction are measured. The measurements are performed at center-of-mass energies ranging from 3.510 to 4.951 GeV. No significant evidence for the decay of the charmonium(-like) states, $ψ(3770)$, $ψ(4040)$, $ψ(4160)$, $Y(4230)$, $Y(4360)$, $ψ(4415)$, and $Y(4660)$, into a $Σ^{+}\barΣ^{-}$ final state is observed. Consequently, upper limits for the products of the branching fractions and the electronic partial widths at the 90% confidence level are reported for these decays.

This result is lower than the naive prediction of 67\%, obtained from isospin symmetry, by more than $2σ$, thereby indicating that the novel mechanism referred to as the \textit{threshold effect}, proposed for the strong decays of $Λ_{c}(2595)^{+}$, also applies to $Λ_{c}(2625)^{+}$. This measurement is necessary to obtain the coupling constants for the transitions between $s$-wave and $p$-wave charmed baryons in heavy hadron chiral perturbation theory. In addition, we search for the decay $Λ_{c}(2595)^{+}\to Λ^{+}_{c}π^+π^-$. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on its branching fraction is determined to be 80.8\% at the 90\% confidence level.

The branching fractions of $η\rightarrowγe^+e^-$ and $η'\rightarrowγe^+e^-$ are measured to be $(7.07 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.23)\times10^{-3}$ and $(4.83\pm0.07\pm0.14)\times10^{-4}$, respectively. Within the single pole model, the parameter of electromagnetic transition form factor for $η\rightarrowγe^+e^-$ is determined to be $Λ_η=(0.749 \pm 0.027 \pm 0.007)~ {\rm GeV}/c^{2}$. Within the multi-pole model, we extract the electromagnetic transition form factors for $η'\rightarrowγe^+e^-$ to be $Λ_{η'} = (0.802 \pm 0.007\pm 0.008)~ {\rm GeV}/c^{2}$ and $γ_{η'} = (0.113\pm0.010\pm0.002)~ {\rm GeV}/c^{2}$. The results are consistent with both theoretical predictions and previous measurements. The characteristic sizes of the interaction regions for the $η$ and $η'$ are calculated to be $(0.645 \pm 0.023 \pm 0.007 )~ {\rm fm}$ and $(0.596 \pm 0.005 \pm 0.006)~ {\rm fm}$, respectively. In addition, we search for the dark photon in $η/η^\prime\rightarrowγe^{+}e^{-}$, and the upper limits of the branching fractions as a function of the dark photon are given at 90\% confidence level.

Clear signals are observed for the two reactions. The cross sections in $-0.9\leq\rm{cos}θ_{Λ/\barΛ}\leq0.9$ are measured to be $σ(Λp\rightarrowΛp)=(12.2\pm1.6_{\rm{stat}}\pm1.1_{\rm{sys}})$ mb and $σ(\barΛ p\rightarrow\barΛ p)=(17.5\pm2.1_{\rm{stat}}\pm1.6_{\rm{sys}})$ mb at the $Λ/\barΛ$ momentum of $1.074$ GeV/$c$ within a range of $\pm0.017$ GeV/$c$, where the $θ_{Λ/\barΛ}$ are the scattering angles of the $Λ/\barΛ$ in the $Λp/\barΛp$ rest frames. Furthermore, the differential cross sections of the two reactions are also measured, where there is a slight tendency of forward scattering for $Λp\rightarrowΛp$, and a strong forward peak for $\barΛp\rightarrow\barΛp$. We present an approach to extract the total elastic cross sections by extrapolation. The study of $\barΛp\rightarrow\barΛp$ represents the first study of antihyperon-nucleon scattering, and these new measurements will serve as important inputs for the theoretical understanding of the (anti)hyperon-nucleon interaction.

Thermal switching materials, whose thermal conductivity can be controlled externally, show great potential in contemporary thermal management. Manipulating thermal transport properties through magnetic fields has been accomplished in materials that exhibit a high magnetoresistance. However, it is generally understood that the lattice thermal conductivity attributed to phonons is not significantly impacted by the magnetic fields. In this study, we experimentally demonstrate the significant impact of phonon-magnon scattering on the thermal conductivity of the rare-earth metal gadolinium near room temperature, which can be controlled by a magnetic field to realize thermal switching. Using first-principles lattice dynamics and spin-lattice dynamics simulations, we attribute the observed change in phononic thermal conductivity to field-suppressed phonon-magnon scattering. This research suggests that phonon-magnon scattering in ferromagnetic materials is crucial for determining their thermal conductivity, opening the door to innovative magnetic-field-controlled thermal switching materials.
