Analysis of high-resolution spectropolarimetric observations of early-type magnetic stars is currently the most advanced method of obtaining detailed information on their surface magnetic field topologies and horizontal spot distributions. In this study we analyse a new set of high-quality four Stokes parameter observations of the magnetic Ap star HD119419 - a member of the 14 Myr old Lower Cen-Cru association - for the purpose of studying the surface field topology and map** the chemical abundance spots. We made use of the circular and linear polarisation data collected for HD119419 with the HARPSpol instrument at the ESO 3.6-m telescope. These observations were analysed with a multi-line magnetic diagnostic technique and modelled in detail with a Magnetic Doppler imaging code. We present a new set of mean longitudinal magnetic field measurements and derive a revised stellar rotational period. We also redetermine the basic stellar atmospheric parameters. Our four Stokes parameter magnetic inversions reveal a moderately complex surface field topology with a mean field strength of 18 kG and a maximum local strength of 24 kG. A poloidal dipolar component dominates the magnetic energy spectrum of the surface field in HD119419. However, significant contributions of the higher-order spherical harmonic components are also present. We show that the dipole plus quadrupole part of the reconstructed field geometry is incapable of reproducing the observed amplitudes and shapes of the Stokes Q and U profiles. The chemical abundance distributions of Fe, Cr, Ti, and Nd, derived self-consistently with the magnetic field geometry, are characterised by large abundance gradients and a lack of clear correlation with the magnetic field structure. This full Stokes vector analysis of HD119419 extends the modern hot-star magnetic map** investigations to an open cluster Ap star with a well-determined age.

Many architects believe that major improvements in cost-energy-performance must now come from domain-specific hardware. This paper evaluates a custom ASIC---called a Tensor Processing Unit (TPU)---deployed in datacenters since 2015 that accelerates the inference phase of neural networks (NN). The heart of the TPU is a 65,536 8-bit MAC matrix multiply unit that offers a peak throughput of 92 TeraOps/second (TOPS) and a large (28 MiB) software-managed on-chip memory. The TPU's deterministic execution model is a better match to the 99th-percentile response-time requirement of our NN applications than are the time-varying optimizations of CPUs and GPUs (caches, out-of-order execution, multithreading, multiprocessing, prefetching, ...) that help average throughput more than guaranteed latency. The lack of such features helps explain why, despite having myriad MACs and a big memory, the TPU is relatively small and low power. We compare the TPU to a server-class Intel Haswell CPU and an Nvidia K80 GPU, which are contemporaries deployed in the same datacenters. Our workload, written in the high-level TensorFlow framework, uses production NN applications (MLPs, CNNs, and LSTMs) that represent 95% of our datacenters' NN inference demand. Despite low utilization for some applications, the TPU is on average about 15X - 30X faster than its contemporary GPU or CPU, with TOPS/Watt about 30X - 80X higher. Moreover, using the GPU's GDDR5 memory in the TPU would triple achieved TOPS and raise TOPS/Watt to nearly 70X the GPU and 200X the CPU.

As opposed to traditional methods of multiple-quantum NMR spectroscopy authors of the article [G.A. Alvarez, D. Suter, Phys. Rev. A 84, 012320 (2011)] generated the effective double-quantum Hamiltonian, with the slight adding usual secular dipole-dipole Hamiltonian to the first one at the stage of the correlations preparing (so the perturbation appeared). At this framework the width of MQ spectra reveals tending to any constant amount with the growing up of the time. Also there were shown that the spectral width decreases with increasing perturbation strength. The growing up of the cluster size as it was supposed by G.A. Alvarez and D. Suter was restricted by mentioned perturbation. We are assuming an alternative explanation. The growing up of cluster size still goes on but the width of MQ spectrum becomes stable because of different decay rate of MQ-spectral components in dependence on theirs location in spectrum. Here we are calculating the widths of MQ spectra in dependence on the time of "preparation" for different values of the perturbation strength and by this way we get the dependence of stabilized amount of MQ-spectrum width on mentioned strength. So, the excellent compliance obtains with the analogues experimental relation observed in Ref. [Phys. Rev. A 84, 012320 (2011)].

The free-induction decay (FID) of the transverse magnetization in a dipolar-coupled rigid lattice is a fundamental problem in magnetic resonance and in the theory of many-body systems. As it was shown earlier the FID shapes for the systems of classical magnetic moments and for quantum nuclear spins ones coincide if there are many quite equivalent nearest neighbors V in a solid lattice. In this paper, we reduce a multispin density matrix of above system to a two-spin matrix. Then we obtain analytic expressions for the mutual information and the quantum and classical parts of correlations at the arbitrary spin quantum number S, in the high-temperature approximation. The time dependence of these functions is expressed via the derivative of the FID shape. To extract classical correlations for S>1/2 we provide generalized POVM measurement using the basis of spin coherent states. We show that in every pair of spins the portion of quantum correlations changes from 1/2 to 1/(S+1) when S is growing up, and quantum properties disappear completely only if S tend to infinity and not in the case when V tend to infinity.

The early-type chemically peculiar stars often show strong magnetic fields on their surfaces. These magnetic topologies are organized on large scales and are believed to be close to an oblique dipole for most of the stars. In a striking exception to this general trend, the helium-strong star HD 37776 shows an extraordinary double-wave rotational modulation of the longitudinal magnetic field measurements, indicating a topologically complex and, possibly, record strong magnetic field. Here we present a new investigation of the magnetic field structure of HD 37776, using both simple geometrical interpretation of the longitudinal field curve and detailed modeling of the time-resolved circular polarization line profiles with the help of magnetic Doppler imaging technique. We derive a model of the magnetic field structure of HD 37776, which reconciles for the first time all magnetic observations available for this star. We find that the local surface field strength does not exceed ~30 kG, while the overall field topology of HD 37776 is dominated by a non-axisymmetric component and represents by far the most complex magnetic field configuration found among early-type stars.
