omega-nucleus bound states in the Walecka model
Abstract: Using the Walecka model, we investigate theoretically whether an omega meson is bound to finite nuclei. We study several nuclei from ^{6}He to ^{208}Pb, and compare the results with those in the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model. Our calculation shows that deeper omega-nucleus bound states are predicted in the Walecka model than in QMC. One can expect to detect such bound states in the proposed e… ▽ More

Recent results from QMC relevant to TJNAF
Abstract: We review recent calculations using the quark meson coupling model which should be of particular interest at Jefferson Lab. In particular, we discuss the change in the proton electric and magnetic form factors when it is bound in a specific shell model orbit. Modern quasi-elastic electron scattering experiments should be able to detect effects of the size predicted. We also examine the mean fiel… ▽ More

Are eta- and omega-nuclear states bound ?
Abstract: We investigate theoretically whether it is feasible to detect $η$- and $ω$-nucleus bound states. As well as the closed shell nuclei, $^{16}$O, $^{40}$Ca, $^{90}$Zr and $^{208}$Pb, we also investigate $^6$He, $^{11}$B and $^{26}$Mg, which are the final nuclei in the proposed experiment involving the (d,$^3$He) reaction at GSI. Potentials for the $η$ and $ω$ mesons in these nuclei are calculated i… ▽ More

The neutron charge form factor in helium-3
Abstract: In order to measure the charge form factor of the neutron, $G^n_E(Q^2)$, one needs to use a neutron bound in a nuclear target. We calculate the change in the form factor for a neutron bound in $^3He$, with respect to the free case, using several versions of the quark meson coupling model. It is found that the form factor may be suppressed by as much as 12% at $Q^2 = 0.5{GeV}^2$ with respect to t… ▽ More

$Q^2$--Dependence of the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn Sum Rule
Abstract: We test the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn (GDH) sum rule numerically by calculating the total photon absorption cross sections $σ_{1/2}$ and $σ_{3/2}$ on the nucleon via photon excitation of baryon resonances in the constituent quark model. A total of seventeen, low-lying, non-strange baryon resonances are included in this calculation. The transverse and longitudinal interference cross section,… ▽ More

Medium dependence of the bag constant in the quark-meson coupling model
Abstract: Possible variations of the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model are examined in which the bag constant decreases in the nuclear medium. The reduction is supposed to depend on either the mean scalar field or the effective mass of the nucleon. It is shown that the electric and magnetic radii of the bound nucleon are almost linearly correlated with the bag constant. Using the fact that the size of the… ▽ More

In-medium electron-nucleon scattering
Abstract: In-medium nucleon electromagnetic form factors are calculated in the quark meson coupling model. The form factors are typically found to be suppressed as the density increases. For example, at normal nuclear density and $Q^2 \sim 0.3 { GeV}^2$, the nucleon electric form factors are reduced by approximately 8% while the magnetic form factors are reduced by only 1 - 2%. These variations are consis… ▽ More

Electromagnetic Form Factors of the Nucleon in an Improved Quark Model
Abstract: Nucleon electromagnetic form factors are studied in the cloudy bag model (CBM) with center-of-mass and recoil corrections. This is the first presentation of a full set of nucleon form factors using the CBM. The center of mass motion is eliminated via several different momentum projection techniques and the results are compared. It is found that the shapes of these form factors are significantly… ▽ More

Delta electroproduction in a chiral bag model approach
Abstract: We study the γ^* N -> Δtransition amplitudes in a recoil corrected cloudy bag model approach. A modified Peierls-Thouless projection method is used to construct the Galilean invariant baryon states. The pionic contribution is found to be significant. The effect of the recoil correction is to reduce the magnitude of the transition amplitudes at small momentum transfer and to enhance them at modes… ▽ More

A chiral bag model approach to delta electroproduction
Abstract: Helicity amplitudes for the $γ^* N \to Δ$ transition are calculated using the cloudy bag model. A correction for center-of-mass motion is carried out using a modified Peierls-Thouless projection method. This reduces the magnitude of the transition amplitudes at small momentum transfer and enhances them at modest momentum transfers. Our calculation shows that the pion cloud contributes substantia… ▽ More

Pionic Bound States in Momentum Space
Abstract: Bound states of the pion--nucleus system are investigated in momentum space using a microscopic optical potential with inherent energy dependences and nonlocalities arising from elementary potential models. The wave equation and computational techniques are tested, shallow levels are calculated, and a comparison is made with experiment. Deep levels are found to be deeper and broader than those i… ▽ More
