N=2 Supersymmetry and Dipole Moments
Abstract: We derive sum rules for the magnetic and electric dipole moments of all particle states of an N=2 supermultiplet. For short representations, we find agreement with previously determined N=1 sum rules, while there is added freedom for long representations (expressed as certain scalar expectation values). With mild assumptions we find the simple result that the supersymmetry generated spin adds to… ▽ More

U-branes and T^3 fibrations
Abstract: We describe eight-dimensional vacuum configurations with varying moduli consistent with the U-duality group $SL(2,Z) \times SL(3,Z)$. Focusing on the latter less-well understood SL(3,Z) properties, we construct a class of fivebrane solutions living on lines on a three-dimensional base space. The resulting U-manifolds, with five scalars transforming under SL(3), admit a Ricci-flat Kahler metric.… ▽ More

Dipole Moments of Black Holes and String States
Abstract: As a further test of the conjectured equivalence of string states and extremal black holes, we compute the dipole moments of black holes with arbitrary spin and superspin in D=4,N=4 supergravity coupled to 22 vector multiplets and compare them with the dipole moments of states in the heterotic string on $T^6$ or the Type IIA string on $K3 \times T^2$. Integrabilities of the long range t-J model of twisted boundary condition
Abstract: The integrability of the one-dimensional long range supersymmetric t-J model has previously been established for both open systems and those closed by periodic boundary conditions through explicit construction of its integrals of motion. Recently the system has been extended to include the effect of magnetic flux, which gives rise to a closed chain with twisted boundary conditions. While the t-J… ▽ More

The 1/r2 t-J model in a magnetic field
Abstract: We study the one-dimensional supersymmetric t-J model with 1/r2 interaction threaded by magnetic flux. Because of the long range interaction, the effect of this flux leads to a modification of the electron hop** term. We present an exact solution of this model for all values of the flux, concisely formulated as a set of Bethe-ansatz-like equations. This allows a computation of the persistent c… ▽ More

Integrable SU(m|n) supersymmetric electronic models of strong correlations
Abstract: We generalize the SU(2|2) supersymmetric extended Hubbard model of 1/r2 interaction to the SU(m|n) supersymmetric case. Integrable models may be defined on both uniform lattice and non-uniform one dimensional lattices. We study both cases in detail and present the ground state wavefunctions and energy spectra of these models.

Ground state and excitations of the extended Hubbard model
Abstract: We examine the ground state and excitations of the one dimensional extended Hubbard model with long range interaction. The ground state wavefunctions and low lying excitations are given explicitly in the form of a Jastrow product of two body terms. This results motivates an asymptotic Bethe-ansatz for the model. We present evidence that this solution is in fact exact and spans the complete spect… ▽ More

Four Dimensional String/String/String Triality
Abstract: In six spacetime dimensions, the heterotic string is dual to a Type $IIA$ string. On further toroidal compactification to four spacetime dimensions, the heterotic string acquires an $SL(2,\BbbZ)_S$ strong/weak coupling duality and an $SL(2,\BbbZ)_T \times SL(2,\BbbZ)_U$ target space duality acting on the dilaton/axion, complex Kahler form and the complex structure fields $S,T,U$ respectively. Eleven Dimensional Origin of String/String Duality: A One Loop Test
Abstract: Membrane/fivebrane duality in D=11 implies Type IIA string/Type IIA fivebrane duality in D=10, which in turn implies Type IIA string/heterotic string duality in D=6. To test the conjecture, we reproduce the corrections to the 3-form field equations of the D=10 Type IIA string (a mixture of tree-level and one-loop effects) starting from the Chern-Simons corrections to the 7-form Bianchi identitie… ▽ More

The decay $b\to sγ$ in the 3-3-1 model
Abstract: The 3-3-1 model, based on the gauge group $SU(3)_c\times SU(3)_L\times U(1)_X$, makes a natural prediction of three generations based on anomaly cancellation. Since this is accomplished by incorporating the third family of quarks differently from the other two, it leads to potentially large flavor changing neutral currents. A sensitive place to look for such effects is the flavor changing… ▽ More

The effect of new physics on R_b = Γ(Z->b bbar) / Γ(Z->hadrons)
Abstract: Motivated by the $\sim 2σ$ discrepancy between the experimental value for $R_b$ and the theoretical prediction of the Standard Model, we examine the effect of new physics on the $Z$-$b$-$\overline{b}$ vertex. Using general results for both new scalars and gauge bosons, we show that two conditions must be satisfied in order for new physics to give observable deviations in the vertex. In particula… ▽ More

Lepton flavor changing processes and CP violation in the 331 model
Abstract: By extending the electroweak gauge group to $SU(3)_L\times U(1)_Y$, the 331 model incorporates dilepton gauge bosons $Y$ which do not respect individual lepton family number. We point out that, in addition to family diagonal couplings such as $Y$--$e$--$e$ that change lepton family number by two units, dileptons may also have family non-diagonal couplings such as $Y$--$μ$--$e$. The latter coupli… ▽ More

Generation non-universality and flavor changing neutral currents in the 331 model
Abstract: The 331 model, an extension of the standard electroweak theory to $SU(3)_L\times U(1)_X$, naturally predicts three families of quarks and leptons via the requirement of anomaly cancellation. This is accomplished by making one of the quark families transform differently from the other two, thus leading to flavor changing neutral currents. Using experimental input on neutral meson mixing, we show… ▽ More

Spectrum and Thermodynamics of the one-dimensional supersymmetric t-J model with $1/r^2$ exchange and hop**
Abstract: We derive the spectrum and the thermodynamics of the one-dimensional supersymmetric t-J model with long range hop** and spin exchange using a set of maximal-spin eigenstates. This spectrum confirms the recent conjecture that the asymptotic Bethe-ansatz spectrum is exact. By empirical determining the spinon degeneracies of each state, we are able to explicitly construct the free energy.

Cubic Mass Relation in $\rm SU(3)\times U(1)$ Electroweak Theory
Abstract: In the 331 model, lepton number may be explicitly broken by trilinear scalar self couplings. This leads to neutrino masses proportional to the cube of the corresponding charged lepton mass, with consequences for solar neutrinos and for hot dark matter.

SSC Phenomenology of the 331 Model of Flavor
Abstract: The 331 model offers an explanation of flavor by anomaly cancellation between three families. It predicts three exotic quarks, $Q=D$, $S$, $T$, and five extra gauge bosons comprising an additional neutral $Z_2$ and four charged dileptonic gauge bosons $(Y^{--},Y^-)$, $(Y^{++},Y^+)$. Production of $Q\overline{Q}$, $QY$, $YY$ and $Z_2$ at the SSC is calculated, and signatures are discussed.

Heterotic Parafermionic Superstring
Abstract: Superstrings have been postulated based on parafermionic partition functions which permit spacetime supersymmetry by generalized Jacobi identities. A comprehensive search finds new such identities. Quadrilateral anomaly cancellation gives constraints on allowed chiral fermions. Running Gauge Couplings and Thresholds in the Type II Superstring
Abstract: A distinctive feature of string unification is the possibility of unification by a non-simply-laced group. This occurs most naturally in four dimensional type~II string models where the gauge symmetry is realized by Kac-Moody algebras at different levels. We investigate the running coupling constants and the one-loop thresholds for such general models. As a specific case, we examine a… ▽ More
