Feedback from protoclusters does not significantly change the kinematic properties of the embedded dense gas structures

Abstract: A total of 64 ATOMS sources at different evolutionary stages were selected to investigate the kinematics and dynamics of gas structures under feedback. We identified dense gas structures based on the integrated intensity map of H$^{13}$CO$^+$ J=1-0 emission, and then extracted the average spectra of all structures to investigate their velocity components and gas kinematics. For the scaling relatio… ▽ More A total of 64 ATOMS sources at different evolutionary stages were selected to investigate the kinematics and dynamics of gas structures under feedback. We identified dense gas structures based on the integrated intensity map of H$^{13}$CO$^+$ J=1-0 emission, and then extracted the average spectra of all structures to investigate their velocity components and gas kinematics. For the scaling relations between velocity dispersion $σ$, effective radius $R$ and column density $N$ of all structures, $σ-N*R$ always has a stronger correlation compared to $σ-N$ and $σ-R$. There are significant correlations between velocity dispersion and column density, which may imply that the velocity dispersion originates from gravitational collapse, also revealed by the velocity gradients. The measured velocity gradients for dense gas structures in early-stage sources and late-stage sources are comparable, indicating gravitational collapse through all evolutionary stages. We quantitatively estimated the velocity dispersion generated by the outflows, inflows, ionized gas pressure and radiation pressure, and found that the ionized gas feedback is stronger than other feedback mechanisms. However, although feedback from HII regions is the strongest, it does not significantly affect the physical properties of the embedded dense gas structures. Combining with the conclusions in Zhou+2023 on cloud-clump scales, we suggest that although feedback from cloud to core scales will break up the original cloud complex, the substructures of the original complex can be reorganized into new gravitationally governed configurations around new gravitational centers. This process is accompanied by structural destruction and generation, and changes in gravitational centers, but gravitational collapse is always ongoing. △ Less

The vagus nerve regulates immunometabolic homeostasis in the ovine fetus near term: impact on terminal ileum

Abstract: The contribution of the vagus nerve to inflammation and glucosensing in the fetus is not understood. We hypothesized that vagotomy (Vx) will trigger a rise in systemic glucose levels and this will be enhanced during systemic and organ-specific inflammation. We hypothesized that vagotomy (Vx) will trigger a rise in systemic glucose levels and this will be enhanced during systemic and organ-specific inflammation. Efferent vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) should reverse this phenotype. Near-term fetal sheep (n=57) were surgically prepared with vascular catheters and ECG electrodes as control and treatment groups (lipopolysaccharide (LPS), Vx+LPS, Vx+LPS+selective efferent VNS). Fetal arterial blood samples were drawn for 7 days to profile inflammation (IL-6), insulin, blood gas and metabolism (glucose). At 54 h, a necropsy was performed; terminal ileum macrophages; CD11c (M1 phenotype) immunofluorescence was quantified to detect inflammation. Across the treatment groups, blood gas and cardiovascular changes indicated mild septicemia. At 3 h, in the LPS group IL-6 peaked; that peak was decreased in Vx+LPS400 and doubled in Vx+LPS800 group; the efferent VNS sped up the reduction of the inflammatory response profile over 54 h. M1 macrophage activity was increased in the LPS and Vx+LPS800 groups only. Glucose and insulin levels in the Vx+LPS group were respectively 1.3-fold and 2.3-fold higher vs. control at 3 h, and the efferent VNS normalized glucose levels. Complete withdrawal of vagal innervation results in a 72h delayed onset of sustained increase in glucose levels for at least 54h and intermittent hyperinsulinemia. Under conditions of moderate fetal inflammation, this is related to higher levels of gut inflammation; the efferent VNS reduces the systemic inflammatory response as well as restores both the levels of glucose and terminal ileum inflammation, but not the insulin levels. Our findings reveal a novel regulatory, hormetic, role of the vagus nerve in the immunometabolic response to endotoxin in near-term fetuses. △ Less

Dynamic Property of Phase Transition for Non-Linear Charged Anti-de Sitter black holes

Through reconstructing the Maxwell's equal-area law, we find there exists the high-/low-potential black hole (HPBH/LPBL) phase transition, not only the pure large/small one. The Gibbs free energy landscape ($G_L$) is treated as a function of the black hole horizon, which is the order parameter of the phase transition due to the thermal fluctuation. From the view point of $G_L$, the stable HPBH/LPBL states are corresponding to two wells of $G_L$, which have the same depth. The unstable intermediate-potential black hole state corresponds to the local maximum of $G_L$. Then we focus on the probability evolution governed by the Fokker-Planck equation. Through solving the Fokker-Planck equating with different reflection/aborption boundary conditions and initial conditions, the dynamics of switching between the coexistent HPBH and LPBL phases is probed within the first passage time. Heavy element contributions of rotating massive stars to Interstellar Medium

Abstract: Employing the the stellar evolution code (Modules for Experiments in Stellar Astrophysics), we calculate yields of heavy elements from massive stars via stellar wind and core-collapse supernovae (CCSN) ejecta to interstellar medium (ISM). In our models, the initial masses ($M_{\rm ini}$) of massive stars are taken from 13 to 80 $M_\odot$, their initial rotational velocities (V) are 0, 300 and 500… ▽ More Employing the the stellar evolution code (Modules for Experiments in Stellar Astrophysics), we calculate yields of heavy elements from massive stars via stellar wind and core-collapse supernovae (CCSN) ejecta to interstellar medium (ISM). In our models, the initial masses ($M_{\rm ini}$) of massive stars are taken from 13 to 80 $M_\odot$, their initial rotational velocities (V) are 0, 300 and 500 km s$^{-1}$, and their metallicities are [Fe/H] = -3, -2, -1, and 0. The yields of heavy elements coming from stellar winds are mainly affected by the stellar rotation which changes the chemical abundances of stellar surfaces via chemically homogeneous evolution, and enhances mass-loss rate. We estimate that the stellar wind can produce heavy element yields of about $10^{-2}$ (for low metallicity models) to several $M_\odot$ (for low metallicity and rapid rotation models) mass. The yields of heavy element produced by CCSN ejecta also depend on the remnant mass of massive mass which is mainly determined by the mass of CO-core. Our models calculate that the yields of heavy elements produced by CCSN ejecta can get up to several $M_\odot$. Compared with stellar wind, CCSN ejecta has a greater contribution to the heavy elements in ISM. We also compare the $^{56}$Ni yields by calculated in this work with observational estimate. Our models only explain the $^{56}$Ni masses produced by faint SNe or normal SNe with progenitor mass lower than about 25 $M_\odot$, and greatly underestimate the $^{56}$Ni masses produced by stars with masses higher than about 30 $M_\odot$. △ Less

Determining the temperature in heavy-ion collisions with multiplicity distribution

Reaction rate weighted multilayer nuclear reaction network

A multi-layer directed-weighted nuclear reaction network in which the reaction rate as the weight, and neutron, proton, $^4$He and the remainder nuclei as the criterion for different reaction-layers is for the first time built based on all thermonuclear reactions in the JINA REACLIB database. Our results show that with the increase of the stellar temperature ($T_{9}$), the distribution of nuclear reaction rates on the $R$-layer network demonstrates a transition from unimodal to bimodal distributions. Nuclei on the $R$-layer in the region of $λ= [1,2.5\times10^{1}]$ have a more complicated out-going degree distribution than the one in the region of $λ= [10^{11},10^{13}]$, and the number of involved nuclei at $T_{9} = 1$ is very different from the one at $T_{9} = 3$. The redundant nuclei in the region of $λ= [1, 2.5\times10^{1}]$ at $T_{9} = 3$ prefer $(γ,p)$ and $({γ,α})$ reactions to the ones at $T_{9}=1$, which produce nuclei around the $β$ stable line. This work offers a novel way to the big-data analysis on nuclear reaction network at stellar temperatures. △ Less

Recording and manipulation of vagus nerve electrical activity in chronically instrumented unanesthetized near term fetal sheep

This is due to the unique amenability of the unanesthetized fetal sheep to the surgical placement and maintenance of catheters and electrodes, allowing repetitive blood sampling, substance injection, recording of bioelectrical activity, application… ▽ More Background: The chronically instrumented pregnant sheep has been used as a model of human fetal development and responses to pathophysiologic stimuli. This is due to the unique amenability of the unanesthetized fetal sheep to the surgical placement and maintenance of catheters and electrodes, allowing repetitive blood sampling, substance injection, recording of bioelectrical activity, application of electric stimulation and in vivo organ imaging. Recently, there has been growing interest in pleiotropic effects of vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) on various organ systems such as innate immunity, metabolism, and appetite control. There is no approach to study this in utero and corresponding physiological understanding is scarce. New Method: Based on our previous presentation of a stable chronically instrumented unanesthetized fetal sheep model, here we describe the surgical instrumentation procedure allowing successful implantation of a cervical uni- or bilateral VNS probe with or without vagotomy. Results: In a cohort of 53 animals, we present the changes in blood gas, metabolic, and inflammatory markers during the postoperative period. We detail the design of a VNS probe which also allows recording from the nerve. We also present an example of vagus electroneurogram (VENG) recorded from the VNS probe and an analytical approach to the data. Comparison with Existing Methods: This method represents the first implementation of VENG/VNS in a large pregnant mammalian organism. Conclusions: This study describes a new surgical procedure allowing to record and manipulate chronically the vagus nerve activity in an animal model of human pregnancy. △ Less

In this work, we construct a directed multi-layer nuclear reaction network using the substrate-product method from a thermonuclear reaction database, JINA REACLIB. The network contains four layers, namely $n$-, $p$-, $h$- and $r$, corresponding to the reaction types involved in neutrons, protons, $^4$He and the remainder, respectively. The degree values (i.e. numbers of reactions) for three layers of n-, p- and h- have a significant correlation with one another, and their topological structures exhibit a similar regularity. However, the $r$-layer has a more complex topological structure than others and has less correlation with the other three layers. A software package named `mfinder' is employed to analyze the motif structure of the nuclear reaction network. We thus identify the most frequent reaction patterns of interconnections occurring among different nuclides. This work provides a novel approach to study the nuclear reaction network prevailing in the astrophysical context. △ Less

Evidence for $Z_{c}^{\pm}$ decays into the $ρ^{\pm} η_{c}$ final state

Abstract: We study $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions with a $π^{+}π^{-}π^{0}η_{c}$ final state using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}=4.226$, $4.258$, $4.358$, $4.416$, and $4.600$ GeV. Evidence for the decay $\zcpm\to\rhopm\etac$ is reported with a statistical significance of $3.9σ$ with various systematic uncertainties taken into account at $\sqrt{s} = 4.226$ GeV,… ▽ More We study $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions with a $π^{+}π^{-}π^{0}η_{c}$ final state using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}=4.226$, $4.258$, $4.358$, $4.416$, and $4.600$ GeV. Evidence for the decay $\zcpm\to\rhopm\etac$ is reported with a statistical significance of $3.9σ$ with various systematic uncertainties taken into account at $\sqrt{s} = 4.226$ GeV, and the Born cross section times branching fraction $σ^{B}(\EE\to \pimp\zcpm)\times \BR(\zcpm\to\rhopm\etac)$ is measured to be $(48 \pm 11 \pm 11)\,\rm{pb}$. The $\zcpm\to \rhopm\etac$ signal is not significant at the other center-of-mass energies and the corresponding upper limits are determined. In addition, no significant signal is observed in a search for $\zcppm\to ρ^{\pm}\etac$ with the same data samples. The ratios $R_{\zc}=\BR(\zcpm\to ρ^{\pm} \etac)/\BR(\zcpm\to π^{\pm} \jpsi)$ and $R_{\zcp}=\BR(\zcppm\to ρ^{\pm} \etac)/\BR(\zcppm\to π^{\pm} \hc)$ are obtained and used to discriminate between different theoretical interpretations of the $\zcpm$ and $\zcppm$. △ Less

Observation of $η_c\toωω$ in $J/ψ\toγωω$

By analyzing events where the radiative photon converts into an $e^+e^-$ pair, the branching fraction for $J/ψ\rightarrow γη^\prime$ is measured to be… ▽ More Based on a sample of $(1310.6 \pm 7.0) \times 10^6~J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we present measurements of $J/ψ$ and $η^\prime$ absolute branching fractions using the process $J/ψ\rightarrowγη^\prime$. By analyzing events where the radiative photon converts into an $e^+e^-$ pair, the branching fraction for $J/ψ\rightarrow γη^\prime$ is measured to be $(5.27\pm0.03\pm0.05)\times 10^{-3}$. The absolute branching fractions of the five dominant decay channels of the $η^\prime$ are then measured independently for the first time and are determined to be $\mathcal{B}(η^\prime \rightarrow γπ^{+} π^{-})$ = (29.90$\pm$0.03$\pm$0.55)%, $\mathcal{B}(η^\prime \rightarrow ηπ^{+} π^{-})$ = (41.24$\pm$0.08$\pm$1.24)%, $\mathcal{B}(η^\prime \rightarrow ηπ^{0} π^{0})$ = (21.36$\pm$0.10$\pm$0.92)%, $\mathcal{B}(η^\prime \rightarrow γω)$ = (2.489$\pm$0.018$\pm$0.074)%, and $\mathcal{B}(η^\prime \rightarrow γγ)$ = (2.331$\pm$0.012$\pm$0.035)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. △ Less

Search for heavy Majorana neutrino in lepton number violating decays of D-> K pi e+ e+

Abstract: Using $e^+e^-$ annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.19\,fb$^{-1}$ collected at a center-of-mass energy of 4.178~GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the absolute branching fractions $\mathcal{B}_{D_s^+ \rightarrow ηe^{+} ν_e }$ = $(2.323\pm0.063_{\rm stat}\pm0.063_{\rm syst})\%$ and $\mathcal{B}_{D_s^+ \rightarrow η^{\prime} e^{+} ν_e}$ =… ▽ More Using $e^+e^-$ annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.19\,fb$^{-1}$ collected at a center-of-mass energy of 4.178~GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the absolute branching fractions $\mathcal{B}_{D_s^+ \rightarrow ηe^{+} ν_e }$ = $(2.323\pm0.063_{\rm stat}\pm0.063_{\rm syst})\%$ and $\mathcal{B}_{D_s^+ \rightarrow η^{\prime} e^{+} ν_e}$ = $(0.824\pm0.073_{\rm stat}\pm0.027_{\rm syst})\%$ via a tagged analysis technique, where one $D_s$ is fully reconstructed in a hadronic mode. Combining these measurements with previous BESIII measurements of $\mathcal{B}_{D^+\toη^{(\prime)} e^{+} ν_e}$, the $η-η^\prime$ mixing angle in the quark flavour basis is determined to be $φ_{\rm P} = (40.1\pm2.1_{\rm stat}\pm0.7_{\rm syst})^\circ$. From the first measurements of the dynamics of $D^+_s\to η^{(\prime)}e^+ν_e$ decays, the products of the hadronic form factors $f_+^{η^{(\prime)}}(0)$ and the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cs}|$ are determined with different form factor parameterizations. For the two-parameter series expansion, the results are $f^η_+(0)|V_{cs}| = 0.4455\pm0.0053_{\rm stat}\pm0.0044_{\rm syst}$ and $f^{η^{\prime}}_+(0)|V_{cs}| = 0.477\pm0.049_{\rm stat}\pm0.011_{\rm syst}$. △ Less

Abstract: We report the observation and study of the decay $J/ψ\rightarrowφηη'$ using $1.3\times{10^9}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector. Its branching fraction, including all possible intermediate states, is measured to be $(2.32\pm0.06\pm0.16)\times{10^{-4}}$. We also report evidence for a structure, denoted as $X$, in the $φη'$ mass spectrum in the $2.0-2.1$ GeV/$c^2$ region. Using two dec… ▽ More We report the observation and study of the decay $J/ψ\rightarrowφηη'$ using $1.3\times{10^9}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector. Its branching fraction, including all possible intermediate states, is measured to be $(2.32\pm0.06\pm0.16)\times{10^{-4}}$. We also report evidence for a structure, denoted as $X$, in the $φη'$ mass spectrum in the $2.0-2.1$ GeV/$c^2$ region. Using two decay modes of the $η'$ meson ($γπ^+π^-$ and $ηπ^+π^-$), a simultaneous fit to the $φη'$ mass spectra is performed. Assuming the quantum numbers of the $X$ to be $J^P = 1^-$, its significance is found to be 4.4$σ$, with a mass and width of $(2002.1 \pm 27.5 \pm 21.4)$ MeV/$c^2$ and $(129 \pm 17 \pm 9)$ MeV, respectively, and a product branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\rightarrowηX)\times{}\mathcal{B}(X\rightarrowφη')=(9.8 \pm 1.2 \pm 1.7)\times10^{-5}$. Alternatively, assuming $J^P = 1^+$, the significance is 3.8$σ$, with a mass and width of $(2062.8 \pm 13.1 \pm 7.2)$ MeV/$c^2$ and $(177 \pm 36 \pm 35)$ MeV, respectively, and a product branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\rightarrowηX)\times{}\mathcal{B}(X\rightarrowφη')=(9.6 \pm 1.4 \pm 2.0)\times10^{-5}$. The angular distribution of $J/ψ\rightarrowηX$ is studied and the two $J^P$ assumptions of the $X$ cannot be clearly distinguished due to the limited statistics. For the $D_{s1}(2536)^-$ and $D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ mesons, the masses and widths are measured to be $M(D_{s1}(2536)^-) = (2537.7 \pm 0.5 \pm 3.1)~MeV/c^2,$ $ Γ(D_{s1}(2536)^-)) = (1.7\pm 1.2 \pm 0.6)~\rm MeV,$ and $M(D^*_{s2}(2573)^-) = (2570.7\pm 2.0 \pm 1.7)~MeV/c^2,$ $Γ(D^*_{s2}(2573)^-) = (17.2 \pm 3.6 \pm 1.1)~\rm MeV.$ The spin-parity of the $D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ meson is determined to be $J^P=2^{+}$. Alpha7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor signaling modulates ovine fetal brain astrocytes transcriptome in response to endotoxin

Using an in vivo - in vitro model of developmental programming of neuroinflammation induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS), we validated this hypothesis in primary fetal sheep astrocytes cultures re-exposed to LPS in presence of a selective alpha7nAChR agonist or antagonist. Our RNAseq findings show that a pro-inflammatory astrocyte transcriptome phenotype acquired in vitro by LPS stimulation is reversed with alpha7nAChR agonistic stimulation. Conversely, antagonistic alpha7nAChR stimulation potentiates the pro-inflammatory astrocytic transcriptome phenotype. Study of the decay $D^0\rightarrow \bar{K}^0π^-e^+ν_e$

Abstract: We report a study of the decay $D^0 \rightarrow \bar{K}^0π^-e^+ν_{e}$ based on a sample of $2.93~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The total branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(D^0\rightarrow \bar{K}^0π^-e^+ν_{e})=(1.434\pm0.029({\rm stat.})\pm0.032({\rm syst.}))\%$, whic… ▽ More We report a study of the decay $D^0 \rightarrow \bar{K}^0π^-e^+ν_{e}$ based on a sample of $2.93~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The total branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(D^0\rightarrow \bar{K}^0π^-e^+ν_{e})=(1.434\pm0.029({\rm stat.})\pm0.032({\rm syst.}))\%$, which is the most precise to date. According to a detailed analysis of the involved dynamics, we find this decay is dominated with the $K^{*}(892)^-$ contribution and present an improved measurement of its branching fraction to be $\mathcal{B}(D^0\rightarrow K^{*}(892)^-e^+ν_e)=(2.033\pm0.046({\rm stat.})\pm0.047({\rm syst.}))\%$. We further access their hadronic form-factor ratios for the first time as $r_{V}=V(0)/A_1(0)=1.46\pm0.07({\rm stat.})\pm0.02({\rm syst.})$ and $r_{2}=A_2(0)/A_1(0)=0.67\pm0.06({\rm stat.})\pm0.01({\rm syst.})$. Combining our branching fraction with the masses of the $D_s^+$ and $μ^+$ and the lifeti… ▽ More Using a $3.19~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ data sample collected at an $e^+e^-$ center-of-mass energy of $E_{\rm cm}=4.178$ GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the branching fraction of the leptonic decay $D_s^+\toμ^+ν_μ$ to be $\mathcal{B}_{D_s^+\toμ^+ν_μ}=(5.49\pm0.16_{\rm stat.}\pm0.15_{\rm syst.})\times10^{-3}$. Combining our branching fraction with the masses of the $D_s^+$ and $μ^+$ and the lifetime of the $D_s^+$, we determine $f_{D_s^+}|V_{cs}|=246.2\pm3.6_{\rm stat.}\pm3.5_{\rm syst.}~\mathrm{MeV}$. Using the $c\to s$ quark mixing matrix element $|V_{cs}|$ determined from a global standard model fit, we evaluate the $D_s^+$ decay constant $f_{D_s^+}=252.9\pm3.7_{\rm stat.}\pm3.6_{\rm syst.}$\,MeV. Alternatively, using the value of $f_{D_s^+}$ calculated by lattice quantum chromodynamics, we find $|V_{cs}| = 0.985\pm0.014_{\rm stat.}\pm0.014_{\rm syst.}$. Abstract: We study the hadronic decays of $Λ_{c}^{+}$ to the final states $Σ^{+}η$ and $Σ^+η^\prime$, using an $e^{+}e^{-}$ annihilation data sample of 567 pb$^{-1}$ taken at a center-of-mass energy of 4.6 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. We find evidence for the decays $Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrowΣ^{+}η$ and $Σ^+η^\prime$ with statistical significance of $2.5σ$ and $3.2σ$, respectively. Normal… ▽ More We study the hadronic decays of $Λ_{c}^{+}$ to the final states $Σ^{+}η$ and $Σ^+η^\prime$, using an $e^{+}e^{-}$ annihilation data sample of 567 pb$^{-1}$ taken at a center-of-mass energy of 4.6 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. We find evidence for the decays $Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrowΣ^{+}η$ and $Σ^+η^\prime$ with statistical significance of $2.5σ$ and $3.2σ$, respectively. Normalizing to the reference decays $Λ_c^+\toΣ^+π^0$ and $Σ^+ω$, we obtain the ratios of the branching fractions $\frac{{\mathcal B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^+η)}{{\mathcal B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^+π^0)}$ and $\frac{{\mathcal B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^+η^\prime)}{{\mathcal B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^+ω)}$ to be $0.35 \pm 0.16 \pm 0.03$ and $0.86 \pm 0.34 \pm 0.07$, respectively. The upper limits at the 90\% confidence level are set to be $\frac{{\mathcal B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^+η)}{{\mathcal B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^+π^0)}<0.58$ and $\frac{{\mathcal B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^+η^\prime)}{{\mathcal B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^+ω)}<1.2$. Using BESIII measurements of the branching fractions of the reference decays, we determine $\mathcal B({Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrowΣ^{+}η})=(0.41\pm0.19\pm0.05)\%$ ($<0.68\%$) and $\mathcal B({Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrowΣ^{+}η'})=(1.34\pm0.53\pm0.21)\%$ ($<1.9\%$). Here, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The obtained branching fraction of $Λ_c^+\toΣ^+η$ is consistent with the previous measurement, and the branching fraction of $Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrowΣ^{+}η^{\prime}$ is measured for the first time. △ Less

First observations of $h_c \to$ hadrons

Abstract: Decays $χ_{cJ}~(J=0,1,2)\toωφ$ are studied using $(448.1\pm2.9)\times 10^{6} ~ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector in 2009 and 2012. In addition to the previously established $χ_{c0}\toωφ$, first observation of $χ_{c1} \to ωφ$ is reported in this paper. The measured product branching fractions are… ▽ More Decays $χ_{cJ}~(J=0,1,2)\toωφ$ are studied using $(448.1\pm2.9)\times 10^{6} ~ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector in 2009 and 2012. In addition to the previously established $χ_{c0}\toωφ$, first observation of $χ_{c1} \to ωφ$ is reported in this paper. The measured product branching fractions are ${\cal{B}}(ψ(3686)\toγχ_{c0})\times{\cal{B}}(χ_{c0}\toωφ)=(13.83\pm 0.70\pm 1.01)\times10^{-6}$ and ${\cal{B}}(ψ(3686)\toγχ_{c1})\times{\cal{B}}(χ_{c1}\toωφ)=(2.67\pm 0.31\pm 0.27)\times10^{-6}$, and the absolute branching fractions are ${\cal{B}}(χ_{c0}\toωφ)=(13.84\pm 0.70\pm 1.08)\times10^{-5}$ and ${\cal{B}}(χ_{c1}\toωφ)=(2.80\pm 0.32\pm 0.30)\times10^{-5}$. We also find a strong evidence for $χ_{c2}\toωφ$ with a statistical significance of 4.8$σ$, and the corresponding product and absolute branching fractions are measured to be ${\cal{B}}(ψ(3686)\toγχ_{c2})\times{\cal{B}}(χ_{c2}\toωφ)=(0.91\pm0.23\pm0.12)\times10^{-6} $ and ${\cal{B}}(χ_{c2}\toωφ)=(1.00\pm0.25\pm0.14)\times10^{-5}$. Abstract: Using $e^+e^-$ annihilation data of $2.93~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=3.773$ GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the absolute branching fraction of $D^{0}\to K^{-}μ^{+}ν_μ$ with significantly improved precision: ${\mathcal B}_{D^{0}\to K^{-}μ^{+}ν_μ}=(3.413\pm0.019_{\rm stat.}\pm0.035_{\rm syst.})\%$. Combining with our previous measurement of ${\mathcal B}_{D^0\to K^-e^+ν_e}$, the ratio of the two branching fractions is determined to be ${\mathcal B}_{D^0\to K^-μ^+ν_μ}/{\mathcal B}_{D^0\to K^-e^+ν_e}=0.974\pm0.007_{\rm stat.}\pm0.012_{\rm syst.}$, which agrees with the theoretical expectation of lepton flavor universality within the uncertainty. A study of the ratio of the two branching fractions in different four-momentum transfer regions is also performed, and no evidence for lepton flavor universality violation is found with current statistics. Taking inputs from global fit in the standard model and lattice quantum chromodynamics separately, we determine $f_{+}^{K}(0)=0.7327\pm0.0039_{\rm stat.}\pm0.0030_{\rm syst.}$ and $|V_{cs}| = 0.955\pm0.005_{\rm stat.}\pm0.004_{\rm syst.}\pm0.024_{\rm LQCD}$. △ Less

Observation of $D^+ \to f_0(500) e^+ν_e$ and Improved Measurements of $D \toρe^+ν_e$

Abstract: Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93~fb$^{-1}$ recorded by the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of $3.773$ GeV, we present an analysis of the decays $\bar{D}^0\toπ^+π^0 e^-\barν_e$ and $D^+\toπ^-π^+ e^+ν_e$. An upper limit of $\mathcal{B}(D^{+} \to f_0(980) e^+ ν_e, f_0(980)\toπ^+π^-) < 2.8 \times10^{-5}$ is set at the 90% confidence level. We also obtain the hadronic form factor ratios of $D\to ρe^+ν_e$ at $q^{2}=0$ assuming the single-pole dominance parameterization: $r_{V}=\frac{V(0)}{A_{1}(0)}=1.695\pm0.083\pm0.051$, $r_{2}=\frac{A_{2}(0)}{A_{1}(0)}=0.845\pm0.056\pm0.039$. △ Less

The branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to η' e^+e^-) = (6.59\pm0.07\pm0.17) \times 10^{-5}$, which improves in precision by a… ▽ More Using a data sample of $(1310.6\pm7.0)\times10^{6}$ $J/ψ$ decay events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, we study the electromagnetic Dalitz decay $J/ψ\to η' e^+e^-$ with two dominant $η'$ decay modes, $η' \to γπ^+ π^-$ and $η' \to π^+π^-η$. The branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to η' e^+e^-) = (6.59\pm0.07\pm0.17) \times 10^{-5}$, which improves in precision by a factor of 2 over the previous BESIII measurement. A search for the dark photon ($γ'$) is performed via $J/ψ\toη' γ', γ' \to e^{+}e^{-}$. Excluding the $ω$ and $φ$ mass regions, no significant signal is observed in the mass range from 0.1 to 2.1 GeV/$c^{2}$. We set upper limits at the 90\% confidence level on $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to η' γ')\times\mathcal{B}(γ' \to e^+e^-)$, $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\toη' γ'$) and the mixing strength as a function of dark photon mass. White dwarfs in de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolley like massive gravity

In this regard and motivated by the important effect of massive graviton on the structure of white dwarfs we study the white dwarfs in Vegh's massive gravity which is known as one of theories of de Rham, Gabadadze and Tolley (dRGT) like massive gravity. First, we consider the modified Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equation in this theory of massive gravity and solve it numerically by using the Chandrasekhar's equation of state. Our results show that the maximum mass of white dwarfs in massive gravity can be more than the Chandrasekhar limit ($M>1.45M_{\odot }$ ), and this result imposes some constraints on parameters of massive gravity. Then, we investigate the effects of various parameters on other properties of the white dwarfs such as mass-radius relation, mass-central density relation, Schwarzschild radius, average density and Kretschmann scalar. Next, we study dynamical stability condition for super-Chandrasekhar white dwarfs and show that these massive compact objects enjoy dynamical stability. Finally, in order to have a better insight, we compare the super-Chandrasekhar white dwarfs with the obtained massive neutron stars in dRGT like massive theory of gravity. △ Less

Search for invisible decays of $ω$ and $φ$ with $J/ψ$ data at BESIII

Mean free path and shear viscosity in central $^{129}$Xe+$^{119}$Sn collisions below 100 MeV/nucleon

Abstract: Thermal and transport properties of hot nuclear matter formed in central $^{129}$Xe + $^{119}$Sn collisions at the Fermi energy are investigated using the isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamical (IQMD) model. Temperature ($T$), average density ($ρ$), chemical potential ($μ$), mean momentum ($P$), shear viscosity ($η$) and entropy density ($s$) are obtained from the phase-space information. T… ▽ More Thermal and transport properties of hot nuclear matter formed in central $^{129}$Xe + $^{119}$Sn collisions at the Fermi energy are investigated using the isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamical (IQMD) model. The mean free path ($λ_{nn}$) and the in-medium nucleon-nucleon cross section ($σ_{nn}$) in the highest compressible stage at different incident energies are deduced and compared with the experimental results from Phys. The result shows that $λ_{nn}$ and $σ_{nn}$ have the same trend and similar values as the experimental results when the beam energy is greater than 40 MeV/u at maximum compressed state. Abstract: We report new measurements of the cross sections for the production of D Dbar final states at the psi(3770) resonance. Our data sample consists of an integrated luminosity of 2.93/fb of e+e- annihilation data produced by the BEPCII collider and collected and analyzed with the BESIII detector. We exclusively reconstruct three D0 and six D+ hadronic decay modes and use the ratio of the yield of full… ▽ More We report new measurements of the cross sections for the production of D Dbar final states at the psi(3770) resonance. Our data sample consists of an integrated luminosity of 2.93/fb of e+e- annihilation data produced by the BEPCII collider and collected and analyzed with the BESIII detector. We exclusively reconstruct three D0 and six D+ hadronic decay modes and use the ratio of the yield of fully reconstructed D Dbar events ("double tags") to the yield of all reconstructed D or Dbar mesons ("single tags") to determine the number of D0 D0bar and D+D- events, benefiting from the cancellation of many systematic uncertainties. Combining these yields with an independent determination of the integrated luminosity of the data sample, we find the cross sections to be σ(e+e- --> D0 D0bar)=(3.615 +- 0.010 +- 0.038) nb and σ(e+e- --> D+D-)=(2.830 +- 0.011 +- 0.026) nb, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. △ Less

Identification of new transitions and mass assignments of levels in $^{143-153}$Pr

The above questioned level assignments are clarified by measuring g-transitions tagged with A and Z in an in-beam experiment in addition to the measurements from 252Cf spontaneous fission (SF) and establish new spectroscopic information from $N=84$ to $N=94$ in the Pr i… ▽ More The previously reported levels assigned to 151,152,153Pr have recently been called into question regarding their mass assignment. The above questioned level assignments are clarified by measuring g-transitions tagged with A and Z in an in-beam experiment in addition to the measurements from 252Cf spontaneous fission (SF) and establish new spectroscopic information from $N=84$ to $N=94$ in the Pr isotopic chain. The isotopic chain 143-153Pr has been studied from the spontaneous fission of 252Cf by using Gammasphere and also from the measurement of the prompt g-rays in coincidence with isotopically-identified fission fragments using VAMOS++ and EXOGAM at GANIL. The latter were produced using 238U beams on a 9Be target at energies around the Coulomb barrier. The g-g-g-g data from 252Cf (SF) and those from the GANIL in-beam A- and Z-gated spectra were combined to unambiguously assign the various transitions and levels in 151,152,153Pr and other isotopes. New transitions and bands in 145,147,148,149,150Pr were identified by using g-g-g and g-g-g-g coincidences and A and Z gated g-g spectra. The transitions and levels previously assigned to 151,153Pr have been confirmed by the (A,Z) gated spectra. The transitions previously assigned to 152Pr are now assigned to 151Pr on the basis of the (A,Z) gated spectra. Two new bands with 20 new transitions in 152Pr and one new band with 7 new transitions in 153Pr are identified from the g-g-g-g coincidence spectra and the (A,Z) gated spectrum. In addition, new g-rays are also reported in 143-146Pr. New levels of 145,147-153Pr have been established, reliable mass assignments of the levels in 151,152,153Pr have been reported and new transitions have been identified in 143-146Pr showing the new avenues that are opened by combining the two experimental approaches. △ Less

Shape coexistence and triaxiality in nuclei near 80Zr

Abstract: Total-Routhian-Surface calculations have been performed to investigate the shape evolutions of $A\sim80$ nuclei, $^{80-84}$Zr, $^{76-80}$Sr and $^{84,86}$Mo. Shape coexistences of spherical, prolate and oblate deformations have been found in these nuclei. Particularly for the nuclei, $^{80}$Sr and $^{82}$Zr, the energy differences between two shape-coexisting states are less than 220 keV. Observation of Positive-Parity Bands in $^{109}$Pd and $^{111}$Pd: Enhanced $γ$-Softness

Abstract: The neutron-rich nuclei $^{109}$Pd and $^{111}$Pd were produced as fission fragments following the $^{30}$Si + $^{168}$Er reaction at 142 MeV. Using the identification based on the coincidences with the complementary fission fragments, the only positive-parity bands observed so far in $^{109}$Pd and $^{111}$Pd emerged from this work. Understanding the different rotational behaviors of $^{252}$No and $^{254}$No

Abstract: Total Routhian surface calculations have been performed to investigate rapidly rotating transfermium nuclei, the heaviest nuclei accessible by detailed spectroscopy experiments. The observed fast alignment in $^{252}$No and slow alignment in $^{254}$No are well reproduced by the calculations incorporating high-order deformations.
