To improve the phase sensitivity, multi-photon subtraction schemes within the SU(1,1) interferometer are proposed. The input states are the coherent state and the vacuum state, and the detection method is homodyne detection. The effects of multi-photon subtraction on phase sensitivity, quantum Fisher information, and quantum Cramer-Rao bound are analyzed under both ideal and photon losses situations. It is shown that the internal subtraction operation can improve the phase sensitivity, which becomes better performance by increasing subtraction number. It can also efficiently improve the robustness of the SU(1,1) interferometer against internal photon losses. By comparing separatively arbitrary photon subtraction on the two-mode inside SU(1,1) interferometer, the performance differences under different conditions are analyzed, including the asymmetric properties of non-Gaussian operations on the phase precision and the quantum Fisher information. Our proposed scheme represents a valuable method for achieving quantum precision measurements.

Thermodynamic irreversibility is a crucial property of living matter. Irreversible processes maintain spatiotemporally complex structures and functions characteristic of living systems. In high-dimensional biological dynamics, robust and general quantification of irreversibility remains a challenging task due to experimental noise and nonlinear interactions coupling many degrees of freedom. Here we use deep learning to identify tractable, low-dimensional representations of phase-field patterns in a canonical protein signaling process -- the Rho-GTPase system -- as well as complex Ginzburg-Landau dynamics. We show that factorizing variational autoencoder neural networks learn informative pattern features robustly to noise. Resulting neural-network representations reveal signatures of mesoscopic broken detailed balance and time-reversal asymmetry in Rho-GTPase and complex Ginzburg-Landau wave dynamics. Applying the compression-based Ziv-Merhav estimator of irreversibility to representations, we recover irreversibility trends across complex Ginzburg-Landau patterns varying widely in spatiotemporal frequency and noise level. Irreversibility estimates from representations similarly recapitulate cell-activity trends in a Rho-GTPase patterning system undergoing metabolic inhibition. Additionally, we find that our irreversibility estimates serve as a dynamical order parameter, distinguishing stable and chaotic dynamics in these nonlinear systems. Our framework leverages advances in deep learning to offer robust, model-free measurements of nonequilibrium and nonlinear behavior in complex living processes.

Abstract:
The flux and line shape of the fine-structure transitions of \NeII\ and \NeIII\ at 12.8 and 15.55\,$μ$m and of the forbidden transitions of \OI\ $\lambda6300$ are calculated for young stellar objects with a range of mass-loss rates and X-ray luminosities using the X-wind model of jets and the associated wide-angle winds. For moderate and high accretion rates, the calculated \NeII\ line luminosity…

For moderate and high accretion rates, the calculated \NeII\ line luminosity is comparable to or much larger than produced in X-ray irradiated disk models. All of the line luminosities correlate well with the main parameter in the X-wind model, the mass-loss rate, and also with the assumed X-ray luminosity --- and with one another. The line shapes of an approaching jet are broad and have strong blue-shifted peaks near the effective terminal velocity of the jet. They serve as a characteristic and testable aspect of jet production of the neon fine-structure lines and the \OI\ forbidden transitions.

Abstract:
We have measured the low-temperature specific heat C(T) for polycrystalline MgB_2 prepared by high pressure synthesis. C(T) below 10 K vanishes exponentially, which unambiguously indicates a fully opened superconducting energy gap. However, this gap is found to be too small to account for Tc of MgB_2. C(T) below 10 K vanishes exponentially, which unambiguously indicates a fully opened superconducting energy gap. However, this gap is found to be too small to account for Tc of MgB_2. Together with the small specific heat jump DeltaC/gamma_nTc=1.13, scenarios like anisotropic s-wave or multi-component order parameter are called for. The magnetic field dependence of gamma(H) is neither linear for a fully gapped s-wave superconductor nor H^1/2 for nodal order parameter. It seems that this intriguing behavior of gamma(H) is associated with the intrinsic electronic properties other than flux pinning.
