Abstract:
CEPC will use 650 MHz cavities for the collider. Each collider cryomodule contains six 650 MHz 2-cell cavities, which is totally new. Therefore, new helium vessel and tuner are designed for the 650 MHz 2-cell cavity. Also, a test cryomodule, which consists of two 650 MHz 2-cell cavities, has begun as the first step to the full scale cryomodule. This paper mainly focuses on the structure design of…

Abstract:
We have synthesized YbPdAs with the hexagonal ZrNiAl-type structure, in which the Yb-atoms form a distorted kagome sublattice in the hexagonal basal plane. Magnetic, transport, and thermodynamic measurements indicate that YbPdAs is a low-carrier Kondo lattice compound with an antiferromagnetic transition at $T_\mathrm{N}$ = 6.6 K, which is slightly suppressed in applied magnetic fields up to 9 T.…

We have synthesized YbPdAs with the hexagonal ZrNiAl-type structure, in which the Yb-atoms form a distorted kagome sublattice in the hexagonal basal plane. Magnetic, transport, and thermodynamic measurements indicate that YbPdAs is a low-carrier Kondo lattice compound with an antiferromagnetic transition at $T_\mathrm{N}$ = 6.6 K, which is slightly suppressed in applied magnetic fields up to 9 T. The magnetic entropy at $T_\mathrm{N}$ recovers only 33\% of $R\ln{2}$, the full entropy of the ground state doublet of the Yb-ions. The resistivity displays a $-\ln T$ dependence between 30 and 15 K, followed by a broad maximum at $T\rm_{coh}$ = 12 K upon cooling. Below $T\rm_{coh}$, the magnetoresistance changes from negative to positive, suggesting a crossover from single-ion Kondo scattering processes at intermediate temperatures to coherent Kondo lattice behaviors at low temperatures. Both the Hall resistivity measurements and band structure calculations indicate a relatively low carrier concentration in YbPdAs. Our results suggest that YbPdAs could provide an opportunity for examining the interplay of Kondo physics and magnetic frustration in low carrier systems.

Refined height pairing

Abstract:
For a $d$-dimensional smooth projective variety $X$ over the function field of a smooth variety $B$ over a field $k$ and for $i\ge 0$, we define a subgroup $CH^i(X)^{(0)}$ of $CH^i(X)$ and construct a "refined height pairing" \[CH^i(X)^{(0)}\times CH^{d+1-i}(X)^{(0)}\to CH^1(B)\] in the category of abelian groups modulo isogeny. For $i=1,d$, $CH^i(X)^{(0)}$ is the group of cycles numerically equiv…

For $i=1,d$, $CH^i(X)^{(0)}$ is the group of cycles numerically equivalent to $0$. This pairing relates to pairings defined by P. Schneider and A. Beilinson if $B$ is a curve, to a refined height defined by L. Moret-Bailly when $X$ is an abelian variety, and to a pairing with values in $H^2(B_{\bar k},\mathbf{Q}_l(1))$ defined by D. Rössler and T. Szamuely in general. We study it in detail when $i=1$.

ALPs (Axion Like Particle) beyond the standard model are solutions to several important problems of modern physics. One way to detect these particles is to detect the new interactions they meditate. Many experiments have been performed to search for these new interactions in ranges from $\simμ$m to astrophysical range. At present, nearly all known experiments searching for the ALP-meditated long range new interactions use sources or probes containing protons, neutrons and electrons. Constraints for other fermions such as muons are scarce, though muons might be the most suspicious particles which could take part in new interactions, considering their involvement of several well known puzzles of modern physics. In this work, we discuss the possibility of explaining the anomalous magnetic moment of muons by the long range muonic new interactions mediated by ALPs. We also give a constraint for the scalar-pseudo-scalar(SP) type interaction meditated by muonic ALPs. We propose to further search the muonic SP type interaction by muon spin rotation experiments.

We have constrained possible new interactions which produce nonrelativistic potentials between polarized neutrons and unpolarized matter proportional to $α\vecσ\cdot\vec{v}$ where $\vecσ$ is the neutron spin and $\vec{v}$ is the relative velocity. We use existing data from laboratory measurements on the very long $T_{1}$ and $T_{2}$ spin relaxation times of polarized $^{3}$He gas in glass cells.Using the best available measured $T_{2}$ of polarized $^{3}$He gas atoms as the polarized source and the earth as an unpolarized source, we obtain constraints on two new interactions. We present a new experimental upper bound on possible vector-axial-vector($V_{VA}$) type interactions for ranges between $1\sim10^{8}$m. In combination with previous results, we set the most stringent experiment limits on $g_{V}g_{A}$ ranging from $\simμ$m to $\sim10^{8}$m. We also report what is to our knowledge the first experimental upper limit on the possible torsion fields induced by the earth on its surface. Dedicated experiments could further improve these bounds by a factor of $\sim100$. Our method of analysis also makes it possible to probe many velocity dependent interactions which depend on the spins of both neutrons and other particles which have never been searched for before experimentally.

Optical metamaterials (OMs) at visible wavelengths have been extensively developed. OMs reported recently are all composed of periodic structure, and fabricated by top-down approaches. Here demonstrated are the colored visible light frequency metamaterials composed of double layer array disordered and geometrical variational dendritic cells as well as fabricated by a novel bottom-up approach. The experiment demonstrates that the OMs composed of random silver dendritic cells which caused the appearance of multiple transmission passbands at red and yellow light frequencies. Moreover, the slab focusing experiment reveals a clear point image in the range of half-wavelength with an intensity of 5% higher than that of the light source. The colored OMs proposed will create a new way to prepare the cloak and the perfect lens suitable for optical frequency.
