Measurement of Electron Antineutrino Oscillation Amplitude and Frequency via Neutron Capture on Hydrogen at Daya Bay

Abstract: This Letter reports the first measurement of the oscillation amplitude and frequency of reactor antineutrinos at Daya Bay via neutron capture on hydrogen using 1958 days of data. With over 3.6 million signal candidates, an optimized candidate selection, improved treatment of backgrounds and efficiencies, refined energy calibration, and an energy response model for the capture-on-hydrogen sensitive… ▽ More This Letter reports the first measurement of the oscillation amplitude and frequency of reactor antineutrinos at Daya Bay via neutron capture on hydrogen using 1958 days of data. With over 3.6 million signal candidates, an optimized candidate selection, improved treatment of backgrounds and efficiencies, refined energy calibration, and an energy response model for the capture-on-hydrogen sensitive region, the relative $\overlineν_{e}$ rates and energy spectra variation among the near and far detectors gives $\mathrm{sin}^22θ_{13} = 0.0759_{-0.0049}^{+0.0050}$ and $Δm^2_{32} = (2.72^{+0.14}_{-0.15})\times10^{-3}$ eV$^2$ assuming the normal neutrino mass ordering, and $Δm^2_{32} = (-2.83^{+0.15}_{-0.14})\times10^{-3}$ eV$^2$ for the inverted neutrino mass ordering. This estimate of $\sin^2 2θ_{13}$ is consistent with and essentially independent from the one obtained using the capture-on-gadolinium sample at Daya Bay. The combination of these two results yields $\mathrm{sin}^22θ_{13}= 0.0833\pm0.0022$, which represents an 8% relative improvement in precision regarding the Daya Bay full 3158-day capture-on-gadolinium result. △ Less

Search for a sub-eV sterile neutrino using Daya Bay's full dataset

Abstract: This Letter presents results of a search for the mixing of a sub-eV sterile neutrino with three active neutrinos based on the full data sample of the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment, collected during 3158 days of detector operation, which contains $5.55 \times 10^{6}$ reactor \anue candidates identified as inverse beta-decay interactions followed by neutron-capture on gadolinium. The analysis… ▽ More This Letter presents results of a search for the mixing of a sub-eV sterile neutrino with three active neutrinos based on the full data sample of the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment, collected during 3158 days of detector operation, which contains $5.55 \times 10^{6}$ reactor \anue candidates identified as inverse beta-decay interactions followed by neutron-capture on gadolinium. The analysis benefits from a doubling of the statistics of our previous result and from improvements of several important systematic uncertainties. No significant oscillation due to mixing of a sub-eV sterile neutrino with active neutrinos was found. Exclusion limits are set by both Feldman-Cousins and CLs methods. Light sterile neutrino mixing with $\sin^2 2θ_{14} \gtrsim 0.01$ can be excluded at 95\% confidence level in the region of $0.01$ eV$^2 \lesssim |Δm^{2}_{41}| \lesssim 0.1 $ eV$^2$. This result represents the world-leading constraints in the region of $2 \times 10^{-4}$ eV$^2 \lesssim |Δm^{2}_{41}| \lesssim 0.2 $ eV$^2$. △ Less

First measurement of the yield of $^8$He isotopes produced in liquid scintillator by cosmic-ray muons at Daya Bay

Abstract: Daya Bay presents the first measurement of cosmogenic $^8$He isotope production in liquid scintillator, using an innovative method for identifying cascade decays of $^8$He and its child isotope, $^8$Li. We also measure the production yield of $^9$Li isotopes using well-established methodology. The measured production rate of $^8$He isotopes is more than an order of magnitude lower than any other measurement of cosmogenic isotope production. It replaces the results of previous attempts to determine the ratio of $^8$He to $^9$Li production that yielded a wide range of limits from 0 to 30\%. For the quantum mechanics-based approach (QM-NSI), the constraints on the CC-NSI parameters $ε_{eα}$ and $ε_{eα}^{s}$ are extracted with and without the assumption that the effects of the new physics are the same in the production and detection processes, respectively. The approach based on the weak effective field theory (WEFT-NSI) deals with four types of CC-NSI represented by the parameters $[\varepsilon_{X}]_{eα}$. For both approaches, the results for the CC-NSI parameters are shown for cases with various fixed values of the CC-NSI and the Dirac CP-violating phases, and when they are allowed to vary freely. We find that constraints on the QM-NSI parameters $ε_{eα}$ and $ε_{eα}^{s}$ from the Daya Bay experiment alone can reach the order $\mathcal{O}(0.01)$ for the former and $\mathcal{O}(0.1)$ for the latter, while for WEFT-NSI parameters $[\varepsilon_{X}]_{eα}$, we obtain $\mathcal{O}(0.1)$ for both cases. △ Less

Abstract: A joint determination of the reactor antineutrino spectra resulting from the fission of $^{235}$U and $^{239}$Pu has been carried out by the Daya Bay and PROSPECT collaborations. This Letter reports the level of consistency of $^{235}$U spectrum measurements from the two experiments and presents new results from a joint analysis of both data sets. The combined analysis reduces the degeneracy between the dominant $^{235}$U and $^{239}$Pu isotopes and improves the uncertainty of the $^{235}$U spectral shape to about 3\%. The ${}^{235}$U and $^{239}$Pu antineutrino energy spectra are unfolded from the jointly deconvolved reactor spectra using the Wiener-SVD unfolding method, providing a data-based reference for other reactor antineutrino experiments and other applications. The positron energy spectrum of 3.5 million antineutrino inverse beta decay reactions observed by the Daya Bay experiment, in combination with the fission rates of fissile isotopes in the reactor, is used to extract the positron energy spectra resulting from the fission of specif… ▽ More The prediction of reactor antineutrino spectra will play a crucial role as reactor experiments enter the precision era. The positron energy spectrum of 3.5 million antineutrino inverse beta decay reactions observed by the Daya Bay experiment, in combination with the fission rates of fissile isotopes in the reactor, is used to extract the positron energy spectra resulting from the fission of specific isotopes. This information can be used to produce a precise, data-based prediction of the antineutrino energy spectrum in other reactor antineutrino experiments with different fission fractions than Daya Bay. The positron energy spectra are unfolded to obtain the antineutrino energy spectra by removing the contribution from detector response with the Wiener-SVD unfolding method. Consistent results are obtained with other unfolding methods. A technique to construct a data-based prediction of the reactor antineutrino energy spectrum is proposed and investigated. Given the reactor fission fractions, the technique can predict the energy spectrum to a 2% precision. In addition, we illustrate how to perform a rigorous comparison between the unfolded antineutrino spectrum and a theoretical model prediction that avoids the input model bias of the unfolding method. △ Less

The search is performed using five large data sets recorded at center-of-mass energies of 4.23, 4.26, 4.36, 4.42, and 4.60 GeV. The $η_c$ meson is reconstructed in 16 exclusive decay modes. Optimization of the JUNO liquid scintillator composition using a Daya Bay antineutrino detector

Abstract: To maximize the light yield of the liquid scintillator (LS) for the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), a 20 t LS sample was produced in a pilot plant at Daya Bay. The optical properties of the new LS in various compositions were studied by replacing the gadolinium-loaded LS in one antineutrino detector. The concentrations of the fluor, PPO, and the wavelength shifter, bis-MSB, were increased in 12 steps from 0.5 g/L and <0.01 mg/L to 4 g/L and 13 mg/L, respectively. The numbers of total detected photoelectrons suggest that, with the optically purified solvent, the bis-MSB concentration does not need to be more than 4 mg/L. To bridge the one order of magnitude in the detector size difference between Daya Bay and JUNO, the Daya Bay data were used to tune the parameters of a newly developed optical model. Then, the model and tuned parameters were used in the JUNO simulation. This enabled to determine the optimal composition for the JUNO LS: purified solvent LAB with 2.5 g/L PPO, and 1 to 4 mg/L bis-MSB. △ Less

In the Daya Bay experiment, using data collected from December 2011 to August 2017, a search has been performed for electron-antineutrino signals coinciding with detected GW events, including GW150914, GW151012, GW151226, GW170104, GW170608, GW170814, and GW170817. We used three time windows of $\mathrm{\pm 10~s}$, $\mathrm{\pm 500~s}$, and $\mathrm{\pm 1000~s}$ relative to the occurrence of the GW events, and a neutrino energy range of 1.8 to 100 MeV to search for correlated neutrino candidates. The detected electron-antineutrino candidates are consistent with the expected background rates for all the three time windows. Assuming monochromatic spectra, we found upper limits (90% confidence level) on electron-antineutrino fluence of $(1.13~-~2.44) \times 10^{11}~\rm{cm^{-2}}$ at 5 MeV to $8.0 \times 10^{7}~\rm{cm^{-2}}$ at 100 MeV for the three time windows. Under the assumption of a Fermi-Dirac spectrum, the upper limits were found to be $(5.4~-~7.0)\times 10^{9}~\rm{cm^{-2}}$ for the three time windows. △ Less

Abstract: Using a data sample of $2.93~fb^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collisions collected at $\sqrt{s}=3.773 GeV$ in the BESIII experiment, we perform an analysis of the decay $D^0\rightarrow K_{S}^{0} K^{+} K^{-}$. The Dalitz plot is analyzed using $1856\pm 45$ flavor-tagged signal decays. Using these parameters, the associated uncertainty on the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle $γ/φ_3$ is expected to be between $0.7^\circ$ and $1.2^\circ$, for an analysis using the decay $B^{\pm}\rightarrow DK^{\pm}$, $D\rightarrow K^0_Sπ^+π^-$, where $D$ represents a superposition of $D^0$ and $\bar{D^0}$ states. This is a factor of three smaller than that achievable with previous measurements. The upper limits for the product branching fractions of $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to γX(2120)\toγK^{+} K^{-} η')$ and $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\toγX(2120)\toγK_{S}^{0} K_{S}^{0} η')$ are determined to be $1.49\times10^{-5}$ and $6.38\times10^{-6}$ at the 90% confidence level, respectively. △ Less

The branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to π^+π^-π^0)$ is measured to be $(2.188 \pm 0.024 \pm 0.024 \pm0.040 (Γ_{ee}^{J/ψ}))\%$, where $Γ_{ee}^{J/ψ}$ is the dileptonic width of $J/ψ$. In addition to the well established states, $φ(1020)$, $φ(1680)$, and $K_3^*(1780)$, contributions from $X(1750)$, $ρ(2150)$, $ρ_3(2250)$, and $K^*_2(1980)$ are also observed. This renaissance has been driven in part by the discovery of a plethora of charmonium-like $XYZ$ states at BESIII and $B$ factories, and the observation of an intriguing proton-antiproton threshold enhancement and the possibly related $X(1835)$ meson state at BESIII, as well as the thre… ▽ More There has recently been a dramatic renewal of interest in the subjects of hadron spectroscopy and charm physics. This renaissance has been driven in part by the discovery of a plethora of charmonium-like $XYZ$ states at BESIII and $B$ factories, and the observation of an intriguing proton-antiproton threshold enhancement and the possibly related $X(1835)$ meson state at BESIII, as well as the threshold measurements of charm mesons and charm baryons. We present a detailed survey of the important topics in tau-charm physics and hadron physics that can be further explored at BESIII over the remaining lifetime of BEPCII operation. Measurement of {\boldmath $J/ψ\toΞ(1530)^{-}\barΞ^{+}$} and evidence for the radiative decay {\boldmath $Ξ(1530)^{-}\toγΞ^-$}

Abstract: The SU(3)-flavor violating decay $J/ψ\toΞ(1530)^{-}\barΞ^{+}+c.c.$ is studied using $(1310.6\pm7.0)\times 10^{6} ~J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII and the branching fraction is measured to be ${\cal{B}}(J/ψ\toΞ(1530)^{-}\barΞ^{+}+c.c.)=(3.17\pm0.02_{\rm stat.}\pm0.08_{\rm syst.})\times10^{-4}$. This is consistent with previous measurements with an improved precision. Observation of the decays $χ_{cJ} \to φφη$

Abstract: Using a data sample of $(448.1\pm2.9)\times10^{6}$ $ψ(3686)$ decays collected by the BESIII detector at the Bei**g Electron Positron Collider (BEPCII), we observe the decays $χ_{cJ}\to φφη~(J=0,~1,~2)$, where the $χ_{cJ}$ are produced via the radiative processes $ψ(3686)\toγχ_{cJ}$. The $D_{1}(2420)^+$ is observed in the $D^{+} π^{+} π^{-}$ mass spectrum. The mass and width of the $D_{1}(2420)^+$ are measured to be $(2427.2\pm 1.0_{\rm stat.}\pm 1.2_{\rm syst.}) \rm{MeV}/c^2$ and $(23.2\pm 2.3_{\rm stat.} \pm2.3_{\rm syst.}) \rm{MeV}$, respectively. The first errors are statistical and the second ones are systematic. Observation of the leptonic decay $D^+ \to τ^+ ν_τ$

Abstract: We report the first observation of $D^+\toτ^+ν_τ$ with a significance of $5.1σ$. We measure ${\cal B}(D^+\toτ^+ν_τ) = (1.20\pm0.24_{\text{stat.}}\pm0.12_{\text{syst.}})\times10^{-3}$. Taking the world average ${\cal B}(D^+\toμ^+ν_μ) = (3.74\pm0.17)\times10^{-4}$, we obtain $R_{τ/μ} =Γ(D^+\toτ^+ν_τ)/Γ(D^+\toμ^+ν_μ) = 3.21\pm0.64_{\text{stat.}}\pm0.43_{\text{syst.}}$, which is consistent with the St… ▽ More We report the first observation of $D^+\toτ^+ν_τ$ with a significance of $5.1σ$. Abstract: By analyzing 2.93 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data taken at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt s=$ 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we determine the branching fractions of the inclusive decays $D^+\toφX$ and $D^0\toφX$ to be $(1.135\pm0.034\pm0.031)\%$ and $(1.091\pm0.027\pm0.035)\%$, respectively, where $X$ denotes any possible particle combination. Observation of the Semileptonic $D^+$ Transition into an Axial-Vector Meson $\bar K_1(1270)^0$

Abstract: By analyzing a 2.93~$\rm fb^{-1}$ data sample of $e^+e^-$ collisions, recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 $\rm \,GeV$ with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII collider, we have searched for the semileptonic $D^+$ transition into the axial-vector meson ${\bar{K}}_{1}(1270)^{0}$. Measurement of branching fractions for $D$ meson decaying into $φ$ meson and a pseudoscalar meson

Abstract: The four decay modes $D^{0}\toφπ^{0}$, $D^{0}\toφη$, $D^{+}\toφπ^{+}$, and $D^{+}\toφK^{+}$ are studied by using a data sample taken at the centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s} = 3.773$~GeV~with the BESIII detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb$^{-1}$. The branching fractions of the first three decay modes are measured to be ${\cal B}(D^{0}\toφπ^{0})=(1.168\pm0.028\pm0.028)\times10^{-3}$, ${\cal B}(D^{0}\toφη)=(1.81\pm0.46\pm0.06)\times10^{-4}$, and ${\cal B}(D^{+}\toφπ^{+})=(5.70\pm0.05\pm0.13)\times10^{-3}$, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. No significant signal is observed of the decay $D^+\toφ{K^+}$ and the upper limit of its branching fraction is set for the first time, to be $2.1\times10^{-5}$ at the $90\%$ confidence level. The ratio of ${\cal B}(D^0\toφπ^0)$ to $\cal B(D^+\toφπ^+)$ is calculated to be $(20.49\pm0.50\pm0.45)\%$, which is consistent with the theoretical prediction based on isospin symmetry between these two decay modes. △ Less

Abstract: We measure the Born cross sections of the process $e^{+}e^{-} \to K^{+}K^{-}K^{+}K^{-}$ at center-of-mass (c.m.) energies, $\sqrt{s}$, between 2.100 and 3.080 GeV. Abstract: Using a data sample of $1.31\times10^{9} ~J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, a search for $η'\toγγη$ via $J/ψ\toγη'$ is performed for the first time. No significant $η'$ signal is observed in the $γγη$ invariant mass spectrum, and the %upper limit of the branching fraction of $η'\toγγη$ is determined to be less than $1.33 \times 10^{-4}$ at the 90$\%$ confidence level. Using a data sample of $1.31\times10^{9} ~J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, a search for $η'\toγγη$ via $J/ψ\toγη'$ is performed for the first time. Evidence for $Z_{c}^{\pm}$ decays into the $ρ^{\pm} η_{c}$ final state

Abstract: We study $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions with a $π^{+}π^{-}π^{0}η_{c}$ final state using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}=4.226$, $4.258$, $4.358$, $4.416$, and $4.600$ GeV. Evidence for the decay $\zcpm\to\rhopm\etac$ is reported with a statistical significance of $3.9σ$ with various systematic uncertainties taken into account at $\sqrt{s} = 4.226$ GeV,… ▽ More We study $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions with a $π^{+}π^{-}π^{0}η_{c}$ final state using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}=4.226$, $4.258$, $4.358$, $4.416$, and $4.600$ GeV. Evidence for the decay $\zcpm\to\rhopm\etac$ is reported with a statistical significance of $3.9σ$ with various systematic uncertainties taken into account at $\sqrt{s} = 4.226$ GeV, and the Born cross section times branching fraction $σ^{B}(\EE\to \pimp\zcpm)\times \BR(\zcpm\to\rhopm\etac)$ is measured to be $(48 \pm 11 \pm 11)\,\rm{pb}$. The $\zcpm\to \rhopm\etac$ signal is not significant at the other center-of-mass energies and the corresponding upper limits are determined. In addition, no significant signal is observed in a search for $\zcppm\to ρ^{\pm}\etac$ with the same data samples. The ratios $R_{\zc}=\BR(\zcpm\to ρ^{\pm} \etac)/\BR(\zcpm\to π^{\pm} \jpsi)$ and $R_{\zcp}=\BR(\zcppm\to ρ^{\pm} \etac)/\BR(\zcppm\to π^{\pm} \hc)$ are obtained and used to discriminate between different theoretical interpretations of the $\zcpm$ and $\zcppm$. △ Less

Measurement of Branching Fractions of $ψ(3686)\rightarrowφη^\prime, φf_1(1285)$ and $φη(1405)$

Abstract: Using a sample of $448.1\times10^6$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform a study of the decay $ψ(3686) \rightarrow φπ^{+}π^{-}η$. The branching fraction of $ψ(3686)\rightarrowφη^\prime$ is determined to be $(1.51\pm0.16\pm0.12)\times 10^{-5}$, which is consistent with the previous measurement but with significantly improved precision. The resonances $f_{1}(1285)$ and… ▽ More Using a sample of $448.1\times10^6$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform a study of the decay $ψ(3686) \rightarrow φπ^{+}π^{-}η$. The branching fraction of $ψ(3686)\rightarrowφη^\prime$ is determined to be $(1.51\pm0.16\pm0.12)\times 10^{-5}$, which is consistent with the previous measurement but with significantly improved precision. The resonances $f_{1}(1285)$ and $η(1405)$ are clearly observed in the $π^{+}π^{-}η$ mass spectrum with statistical significances of $18σ$ and $9.7σ$, respectively. The corresponding product branching fractions are measured to be $\mathcal{B}(ψ(3686)\rightarrowφf_{1}(1285),f_{1}(1285)\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-}η) =(1.03\pm0.10\pm0.09)\times 10^{-5}$ and $\mathcal{B}(ψ(3686)\rightarrowφη(1405),η(1405)\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-}η) =(8.46\pm1.37\pm0.92)\times 10^{-6}$. △ Less

The Born cross section~($σ_{p\bar{p}}$) of $e^+e^- \rightarrow p\bar{p}$ is measured with the energy-scan technique and it is found to be consistent with previously published data, but with much improved accuracy. In addition, the electromagnetic form-factor ratio ($|G_{E}/G_{M}|$) and the value of the effective ($|G_{\rm{eff}}|$), electric ($|G_E|$) and magnetic ($|G_M|$) form factors are measured by studying the helicity angle of the proton at 16 center-of-mass energy points. $|G_{E}/G_{M}|$ and $|G_M|$ are determined with high accuracy, providing uncertainties comparable to data in the space-like region, and $|G_E|$ is measured for the first time. We reach unprecedented accuracy, and precision results in the time-like region provide information to improve our understanding of the proton inner structure and to test theoretical models which depend on non-perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics. △ Less

These contributions can not be reliably identified and their possible interpretations are discussed. The measured branching fraction $B(J/ψ\to K^+K^-π^0)$ of $(2.88\pm0.01\pm0.12)\times10^{-3}$ is more precise than previous results. Abstract: This Letter reports the first extraction of individual antineutrino spectra from $^{235}$U and $^{239}$Pu fission and an improved measurement of the prompt energy spectrum of reactor antineutrinos at Daya Bay. The analysis uses $3.5\times 10^6$ inverse beta-decay candidates in four near antineutrino detectors in 1958 days. The analysis uses $3.5\times 10^6$ inverse beta-decay candidates in four near antineutrino detectors in 1958 days. The individual antineutrino spectra of the two dominant isotopes, $^{235}$U and $^{239}$Pu, are extracted using the evolution of the prompt spectrum as a function of the isotope fission fractions. In the energy window of 4--6~MeV, a 7\% (9\%) excess of events is observed for the $^{235}$U ($^{239}$Pu) spectrum compared with the normalized Huber-Mueller model prediction. The significance of discrepancy is $4.0σ$ for $^{235}$U spectral shape compared with the Huber-Mueller model prediction. The shape of the measured inverse beta-decay prompt energy spectrum disagrees with the prediction of the Huber-Mueller model at $5.3σ$. In the energy range of 4--6~MeV, a maximal local discrepancy of $6.3σ$ is observed. △ Less

Abstract: The exclusive process $e^+e^-\rightarrowΛ\barΛ$, with $Λ\to pπ^-$ and $\barΛ \to \bar{p}π^+$, has been studied at $\sqrt{s} =$ 2.396 GeV for measurement of the $Λ$ electric and magnetic form factors, $G_E$ and $G_M$. A multi-dimensional analysis with a complete decomposition of the spin structure of the reaction enables a determination of the modulus of the ratio $R=|G_E/G_M|$ and, for the first time for any baryon, the relative phase $ΔΦ=Φ_E-Φ_M$. The resulting values are obtained using the recent and most precise measured value of the asymmetry parameter $α_Λ$ = $0.750~\pm~0.010$ to be $R~=~0.96\pm0.14~(\rm stat.)\pm~0.02~(\rm sys.)$ and $ΔΦ=37^{\mathrm{o}}\pm~12^{\mathrm{o}}~(\rm stat.)\pm~6^{\mathrm{o}}~(\rm sys.)$, respectively. In addition, the cross section is measured with unprecedented precision to be $σ= 118.7~\pm~5.3~(\rm stat.)\pm~5.1~(\rm sys.)$ pb, which corresponds to an effective form factor of $|G|=0.123~\pm~0.003~(\rm stat.)\pm~0.003~(\rm sys.)$. The contribution from two-photon exchange is found to be negligible. Our result enables the first complete determination of baryon time-like electromagnetic form factors. △ Less

The proposed heavy-quark-spin-symmetry partner of the $X(3872)$, the state $X_{2}(4013)$, is also searched for in the $D\bar{D}$ invariant mass spectra. No obvious signal is found. The upper limit of the Born cross section of the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to ρ^{0}X_{2}(4013)$ combined with the branching fraction is measured. Also, the processes $e^{+}e^{-}\to D_{1}(2420)\bar{D} + c.c.$ are investigated. The neutral mode with $D_{1}(2420)^{0}\to D^{0}π^{+}π^{-}$ is reported with statistical significance of 7.4$σ$ at $\sqrt{s} = 4.42$ GeV for the first time, and evidence with statistical significance of 3.2$σ$ and 3.3$σ$ at $\sqrt{s}$ = 4.36 and 4.60 GeV is seen, respectively. No evident signal for the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to D_{1}(2420)^{0}\bar{D}^{0} + c.c., D_{1}(2420)^{0}\to D^{*+}π^{-}$ is reported. Evidence for $e^{+}e^{-}\to D_{1}(2420)^{+}D^{-} +~c.c., D_{1}(2420)^{+}\to D^{+}π^{+}π^{-}$ is reported with statistical significance of 3.1$σ$ and 3.0$σ$ at $\sqrt{s}$ = 4.36 and 4.42 GeV, respectively. △ Less

Study of $e^+e^- \to γωJ/ψ$ and Observation of $X(3872) \to ωJ/ψ$

Abstract: We study the $e^+e^-\toγωJ/ψ$ process using $11.6 ~\rm fb^{-1}$ $e^+ e^-$ annihilation data taken at center-of-mass energies from $\sqrt{s}=4.008~\rm GeV$ to $4.600~\rm GeV$ with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. The $X(3872)$ resonance is observed for the first time in the $ωJ/ψ$ system with a significance of more than $5σ$. The relative decay ratio of $X(3872)\toωJ/ψ$ and… ▽ More We study the $e^+e^-\toγωJ/ψ$ process using $11.6 ~\rm fb^{-1}$ $e^+ e^-$ annihilation data taken at center-of-mass energies from $\sqrt{s}=4.008~\rm GeV$ to $4.600~\rm GeV$ with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. The relative decay ratio of $X(3872)\toωJ/ψ$ and $π^+π^- J/ψ$ is measured to be $\mathcal{R}=1.6^{+0.4}_{-0.3}\pm0.2$, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic (the same hereafter). The $\sqrt{s}$-dependent cross section of $e^+e^-\toγX(3872)$ is also measured and investigated, and it can be described by a single Breit-Wigner resonance, referred to as the $Y(4200)$, with a mass of $4200.6^{+7.9}_{-13.3}\pm3.0~{\rm MeV}/c^2$ and a width of $115^{+38}_{-26}\pm12~{\rm MeV}$. In addition, to describe the $ωJ/ψ$ mass distribution above $3.9~\rm GeV/c^2$, we need at least one additional Breit-Wigner resonance, labeled as $X(3915)$, in the fit. The mass and width of the $X(3915)$ are measured to be $3926.4\pm2.2\pm1.2~\rm MeV/c^2$ and $3.8\pm7.5\pm2.6~\rm MeV$, or $3932.6\pm8.7\pm4.7~\rm MeV/c^2$ and $59.7\pm15.5\pm3.7~\rm MeV$, respectively, depending on the fit models. The resonant parameters of the $X(3915)$ agree with those of the $Y(3940)$ in $B\to KωJ/ψ$ and of the $X(3915)$ in $γγ\toωJ/ψ$ by the Belle and BABAR experiments within errors. △ Less
