We study the trigonometric quantum spin-Calogero-Sutherland model, and the Haldane-Shastry spin chain as a special case, using a Bethe-ansatz analysis. We harness the model's Yangian symmetry to import the standard tools of integrability for Heisenberg spin chains into the world of integrable long-range models with spins. From the transfer matrix with a diagonal twist we construct Heisenberg-style symmetries (Bethe algebra) that refine the usual hierarchy of commuting Hamiltonians (quantum determinant) of the spin-Calogero-Sutherland model. We compute the first few of these new conserved charges explicitly, and diagonalise them by Bethe ansatz inside each irreducible Yangian representation. This yields a new eigenbasis for the spin-Calogero-Sutherland model that generalises the Yangian Gelfand-Tsetlin basis of Takemura and Uglov. The Bethe-ansatz analysis involves non-generic values of the inhomogeneities. Our review of the inhomogeneous Heisenberg XXX chain, with special attention to how the Bethe ansatz works in the presence of fusion, may be of independent interest.

We extend the powerful property of Yangian invariance to a new large class of conformally invariant Feynman integrals. Our results apply to planar Feynman diagrams in any spacetime dimension dual to an arbitrary network of intersecting straight lines on a plane (Baxter lattice), with propagator powers determined by the geometry. We formulate Yangian symmetry in terms of a chain of Lax operators acting on the fixed coordinates around the graph, and we also extend this construction to the case of infinite-dimensional auxiliary space. Yangian invariance leads to new differential and integral equations for individual, highly nontrivial, Feynman graphs, and we present them explicitly for several examples. The graphs we consider determine correlators in the recently proposed loom fishnet CFTs. We also describe a generalization to the case with interaction vertices inside open faces of the diagram. Our construction unifies and greatly extends the known special cases of Yangian invariance to likely the most general family of integrable scalar planar graphs.

Using the matrix-forest theorem and the Parisi-Sourlas trick we formulate and solve a one-matrix model with non-polynomial potential which provides perturbation theory for massive spinless fermions on dynamical planar graphs. This is a lattice version of 2d quantum gravity coupled to massive spinless fermions. Our model equivalently describes the ensemble of spanning forests on the same graphs. The solution is formulated in terms of an elliptic curve. We then focus on a near-critical scaling limit when both the graphs and the trees in the forests are macroscopically large. In this limit we obtain universal one-point scaling functions (condensates), parameterized in terms of the Lambert function. Our results provide a rare example where one can explore the flow between two gravity models -- in this case, the theories of conformal matter coupled to 2d gravity with c=-2 (large trees regime) and c=0 (small trees regime). We also compute the disc partition functions with Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions in the same critical limit.

We compute the sum over flat surfaces of disc topology with arbitrary number of conical singularities. To that end, we explore and generalize a specific case of the matrix model of dually weighted graphs (DWG) proposed and solved by one of the authors, M. Staudacher and Th. Wynter. Namely, we compute the sum over quadrangulations of the disc with certain boundary conditions, with parameters controlling the number of squares (area), the length of the boundary and the coordination numbers of vertices. The vertices introduce conical defects with angle deficit given by a multiple of $π$, corresponding to positive, zero or negative curvature. Our results interpolate between the well-known 2d quantum gravity solution for the disc with fluctuating 2d metric and the regime of 'almost flat' surfaces with all the negative curvature concentrated on the boundary. We also speculate on possible ways to study the fluctuating 2d geometry with $AdS_2$ background instead of the flat one.

The major simplification in a number of quantum integrable systems is the existence of special coordinates in which the eigenstates take a factorised form. Despite many years of studies, the basis realising the separation of variables (SoV) remains unknown in N=4 SYM and similar models, even though it is widely believed they are integrable. In this paper we initiate the SoV approach for observables with nontrivial coupling dependence in a close cousin of N=4 SYM - the fishnet 4D CFT. We develop the functional SoV formalism in this theory, which allows us to compute non-perturbatively some nontrivial observables in a form suitable for numerical evaluation. We present some applications of these methods. In particular, we discuss the possible SoV structure of the one-point correlators in presence of a defect, and write down a SoV-type expression for diagonal OPE coefficients involving an arbitrary state and the Lagrangian density operator. We believe that many of the findings of this paper can be applied in the N=4 SYM case, as we speculate in the last part of the article.

By finding, for the first time, the matrix elements of the SoV measure explicitly we were able to compute correlation functions and wave function overlaps in a simple determinant form. In particular, we show how an overlap between on-shell and off-shell algebraic Bethe states can be written as a determinant. Another result, particularly useful for AdS/CFT applications, is an overlap between two Bethe states with different twists, which also takes a determinant form in our approach. Our results also extend our previous works in collaboration with A. Cavaglia and D. Volin to general values of the spin, including the SoV construction in the higher-rank non-compact case for the first time.

We study the gamma-deformation of the planar N=4 super Yang-Mills theory which breaks all supersymmetries but is expected to preserve integrability of the model. We focus on the operator Tr$(φ_1φ_1)$ built from two scalars, whose integrability description has been questioned before due to contributions from double-trace counterterms. We show that despite these subtle effects, the integrability-based Quantum Spectral Curve (QSC) framework works perfectly for this state and in particular reproduces the known 1-loop prediction. This resolves an earlier controversy concerning this operator and provides further evidence that the gamma-deformed model is an integrable CFT at least in the planar limit. We use the QSC to compute the first 5 weak coupling orders of the anomalous dimension analytically, matching known results in the fishnet limit, and also compute it numerically all the way from weak to strong coupling. We also utilize this data to extract a new coefficient of the beta function of the double-trace operator couplings.

Separation of variables (SoV) is a special property of integrable models which ensures that the wavefunction has a very simple factorised form in a specially designed basis. Even though the factorisation of the wavefunction was recently established for higher rank models by two of the authors and G. Sizov, the measure for the scalar product was not known beyond the case of rank one symmetry. In this paper we show how this measure can be found, bypassing an explicit SoV construction. A key new observation is that the measure for spin chains in a highest-weight infinite dimensional representation of sl(N) couples Q-functions at different nesting levels in a non-symmetric fashion. We also managed to express a large number of form factors as ratios of determinants in our new approach. We expect our method to be applicable in a much wider setup including the problem of computing correlators in integrable CFTs such as the fishnet theory, N=4 SYM and the ABJM model.

To address this question we find a compact formula for the spin chain eigenstates, which does not have any sums over auxiliary roots one usually gets in the widely adopted nested Bethe ansatz. Our construction only involves one application of a simple Bg(u_k) operator to the reference state for each of the magnons, in complete analogy with the su(2) algebraic Bethe ansatz. This generalizes our SoV based construction for su(n) to the supersymmetric su(1|2) case.

We also show how to study the insertions of scalars coupled to the Wilson lines and extend our results for the spectrum and the structure constants to this case. We initiate the field-theoretical study of the spectrum in this model by using integrability inherited from the parent theory. The dipole deformation corresponds to a nondiagonal Drinfeld-Reshetikhin twist in the spin chain picture, which renders the traditional Bethe ansatz inapplicable from the very beginning. We use instead the Baxter equation supplemented with nontrivial asymptotics, which gives the full 1-loop spectrum in the sl(2) sector. We show that anomalous dimensions of long gauge theory operators perfectly match the string theory prediction, providing a quantitative test of Schrodinger holography.

We give a pedagogical introduction to the Bethe ansatz techniques in integrable QFTs and spin chains. We first discuss and motivate the general framework of asymptotic Bethe ansatz for the spectrum of integrable QFTs in large volume, based on the exact S-matrix. Then we illustrate this method in several concrete theories. The first case we study is the SU(2) chiral Gross-Neveu model. We derive the Bethe equations via algebraic Bethe ansatz, solving in the process the Heisenberg XXX spin chain. We discuss this famous spin chain model in some detail, covering in particular the coordinate Bethe ansatz, some properties of Bethe states, and the classical scaling limit leading to finite-gap equations. Then we proceed to the more involved SU(3) chiral Gross-Neveu model and derive the Bethe equations using nested algebraic Bethe ansatz to solve the arising SU(3) spin chain. Finally we show how a method similar to the Bethe ansatz works in a completley different setting, namely for the 1d oscillator in quantum mechanics.

Based on the recent indications of integrability in the planar ABJ model, we conjecture an exact expression for the interpolating function h(λ_1,λ_2) in this theory. Our conjecture is based on the observation that the integrability structure of the ABJM theory given by its Quantum Spectral Curve is very rigid and does not allow for a simple consistent modification. Under this assumption, we revised the previous comparison of localization results and exact all loop integrability calculations done for the ABJM theory by one of the authors and Grigory Sizov, fixing h(λ_1,λ_2). We checked our conjecture against various weak coupling expansions, at strong coupling and also demonstrated its invariance under the Seiberg-like duality. This match also gives further support to the integrability of the model. If our conjecture is correct, it extends all the available integrability results in the ABJM model to the ABJ model.

We find that the large spectral parameter asymptotics and some analyticity properties have to be modified, but the functional relations are unchanged. As a demonstration, we find an all-loop analytic expression for the first two nontrivial terms in the small |phi \pm theta| expansion. We also present nonperturbative numerical results at generic angles which match perfectly 4-loop perturbation theory and the classical string prediction.

The method is based on the Quantum Spectral Curve formalism. In contrast to Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz, worked out only for some very special operators, this method is applicable for generic states/operators and is much faster and precise due to its Q-quadratic convergence rate.
To demonstrate the method we evaluate the dimensions $Δ$ of twist operators in $sl(2)$ sector directly for any value of the spin $S$ including non-integer values. In particular, we compute the BFKL pomeron intercept in a wide range of the 't Hooft coupling constant with up to $20$ significant figures precision, confirming two previously known from the perturbation theory orders and giving prediction for several new coefficients. We focus on the small spin expansion of anomalous dimensions in the sl(2) sector and compute its first two orders exactly for any value of the 't Hooft coupling. At leading order in the spin S we reproduced Basso's slope function. The next term of order S^2 structurally resembles the Beisert-Eden-Staudacher dressing phase and takes into account wrap** contributions. This expansion contains rich information about the spectrum of local operators at strong coupling. In particular, we found a new coefficient in the strong coupling expansion of the Konishi operator dimension and confirmed several previously known terms. We also obtained several new orders of the strong coupling expansion of the BFKL pomeron intercept. As a by-product we formulated a prescription for the correct analytical continuation in S which opens a way for deriving the BFKL regime of twist two anomalous dimensions from AdS/CFT integrability.

We find an exact analytical solution of the Y-system describing a cusped Wilson line in the planar limit of N=4 SYM. Our explicit solution describes anomalous dimensions of this family of observables for any value of the `t Hooft coupling and arbitrary R-charge L of the local operator inserted on the cusp in a near-BPS limit. Our finding generalizes the previous results of one of the authors & Sever and passes several nontrivial tests. First, for a particular case L=0 we reproduce the predictions of localization techniques. Second, we show that in the classical limit our result perfectly reproduces the existing prediction from classical string theory. In addition, we made a comparison with all existing weak coupling results and we found that our result interpolates smoothly between these two very different regimes of AdS/CFT. As a byproduct we found a generalization of the essential parts of the FiNLIE construction for the gamma-deformed case and discuss our results in the framework of the novel ${\bf P}μ$-formulation of the spectral problem.

We find that the phase should be different from the BES phase appearing in the AdS_5 x S^5 case. We use the simplest example of a rigid circular string with two equal spins in S^3 and also consider the general approach based on the algebraic curve description. We also discuss the case of the AdS_3 x S^3 x S^3 x S^1 theory and find the dependence of the 1-loop correction to the effective string tension function h(λ) (expected to enter the magnon dispersion relation) on the parameters alpha related to the ratio of the two 3-sphere radii. This correction vanishes in the AdS_3 x S^3 x T^4 case.

We compute the anomalous dimension for a short single-trace operator in planar ABJM theory at intermediate coupling. This is done by solving numerically the set of Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz equations which are expected to describe the exact spectrum of the theory. We implement a truncation method which significantly reduces the number of integral equations to be solved and improves numerical efficiency. Results are obtained for a range of 't Hooft coupling lambda corresponding to $0 \leq h(λ) \leq 1$, where h(lambda) is the interpolating function of the AdS4/CFT3 Bethe equations.

On wrap** corrections to GKP-like operators

Abstract:
In the recent paper arXiv:1010.5009, Maldacena et al. derive the two loop expressions for polygonal Wilson loops expectation values, or MHV amplitudes, by writing them as sums over exchanges of intermediate free particles. The spectrum of excitations of the flux tube between two null Wilson lines can be viewed as the spectrum of excitations around the infinite spin limit of finite twist operators…

In the recent paper ar** corrections are negligible compared to asymptotic Bethe Ansatz contributions. This assumption holds true for the N=4 SYM background GKP string, but deserves further analysis for excited states. Here, we investigate GKP cousins by considering various classes of (generalized) twist operators in beta-deformed N=4 SYM and ABJM theory. We show that the Y-system of Gromov-Kazakov-Vieira easily leads to accurate large spin expansions of the wrap** correction at lowest order in weak-coupling perturbation theory. As a byproduct, we confirm that wrap** corrections are subleading in all the considered cases.

To do this, we obtain the general twisted asymptotic solution of this Y-system of functional equations. We show that existence of an additional parameter beta in the deformed theory allows to extract rich information about the perturbation theory integrals directly from Y-system. Using this method we found a simple generating function for a broad class of such integrals.

We study the exact spectrum of the AdS4/CFT3 duality put forward by Aharony, Bergman, Jafferis and Maldacena (ABJM). We derive thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) equations for the planar ABJM theory, starting from "mirror" asymptotic Bethe equations which we conjecture. We also propose generalization of the TBA equations for excited states. The recently proposed Y-system is completely consistent with the TBA equations for a large subsector of the theory, but should be modified in general. We find the general asymptotic infinite length solution of the Y-system, and also several solutions to all wrap** orders in the strong coupling scaling limit. To make a comparison with results obtained from string theory, we assume that the all-loop Bethe ansatz of N.G. and P. Vieira is the valid worldsheet theory description in the asymptotic regime. In this case we find complete agreement, to all orders in wrap**s, between the solution of our Y-system and generic quasi-classical string spectrum in AdS3 x S.

We consider a system of two spin-1/2 particles, initially in an entangled Bell state. If one of the particles is interacting with an environment (e.g. a collection of N independent spins), the two-particle system undergoes decoherence. Using a simple model of decoherence, we show that this process has two consequences. First, the maximal amount by which the CHSH inequality is violated decays to zero. Second, the set of directions of measurement for which the inequality is violated is reduced in the course of decoherence. The volume of that set is bounded above by C|r|^2, where r is the decoherence factor. We obtain similar results for the case when each of the two particles is in interaction with a separate environment.
