Angular Analysis of New Physics Operators in polarized $τ\to 3 \ell$ Decays
Abstract: In a bottom-up approach we investigate lepton-flavour violating processes $τ\to 3 \ell$ that are mediated by New Physics encoded in effective-theory operators of dimension six. While the opportunity to scrutinize the underlying operator structure has been investigated before, we explore the benefits of utilising the polarization direction of the initial $τ$ lepton and the angular distribution of t… ▽ More

The B-meson Light-Cone Distribution Amplitude in Dual Space
Abstract: We describe a representation of the leading B-meson light-cone distribution amplitude in heavy-quark effective theory based on the eigenfunctions of its anomalous dimension kernel. In this representation (called the dual LCDA) different dual momenta no longer mix under renormalization. We discuss the perturbative and non-perturbative nature of different regions in this space.

B-Meson Light-Cone Distribution Amplitude: Perturbative Constraints and Asymptotic Behaviour in Dual Space
Abstract: Based on the dual representation in terms of the recently established eigenfunctions of the evolution kernel in heavy-quark effective theory, we investigate the description of the B-meson light-cone distribution amplitude (LCDA) beyond tree-level. In particular, in dual space, small and large momenta do not mix under renormalization, and therefore perturbative constraints from a short-distance exp… ▽ More

On Glauber modes in Soft-Collinear Effective Theory
Abstract: Gluon interactions involving spectator partons in collisions at hadronic machines are investigated. We find a class of examples in which a mode, called Glauber gluons, must be introduced to the effective theory for consistency.

Scale setting and resummation of logarithms in pp -> V + jets
Abstract: The production of vector bosons in association with jets contains at least two unrelated scales. The first is the mass of the vector boson m_V and the second is the hard interaction scale giving rise to large transverse momenta of the produced jets. The production cross sections depend logarithmically on the ratio of these scales, which can lead to a poor convergence in fixed order perturbation… ▽ More

Inclusive semileptonic decays of the B meson
Abstract: This talk is a short review on the theoretical issues and uncertainties in the calculation of partial decay rates in inclusive B decays. The main emphasis is on charmless semileptonic decays, the B -> X(s) gamma photon spectrum, and the extraction of Vub using model-independent methods.

Shape-function independent relations of charmless inclusive B-decay spectra
Abstract: A leading-power factorization formula for weight functions relating the B to Xs gamma photon spectrum to arbitrary partial decay rates in B to Xu l nu is derived. These weight functions are independent of the hadronic shape function and allow for the determination of V_{ub} in a model-independent way. We calculate the weight function in renormalization-group improved perturbation theory to compl… ▽ More

A two-loop relation between inclusive radiative and semileptonic B-decay spectra
Abstract: A shape-function independent relation is derived between the partial B->X_u+l+nu decay rate with a cut on P_+=E_X-P_X<Delta and a weighted integral over the normalized B->X_s+gamma photon-energy spectrum. The leading-power contribution to the weight function is calculated at next-to-next-to-leading order in renormalization-group improved perturbation theory, including exact two-loop matching cor… ▽ More

Theory of Charmless Inclusive B Decays and the Extraction of V_{ub}
Abstract: We present ``state-of-the-art'' theoretical expressions for the triple differential B->X_u l^- nu decay rate and for the B->X_s gamma photon spectrum, which incorporate all known contributions and smoothly interpolate between the ``shape-function region'' of large hadronic energy and small invariant mass, and the ``OPE region'' in which all hadronic kinematical variables scale with M_B. Soft-Collinear Factorization and Sudakov Resummation of Heavy Meson Decay Amplitudes with Effective Field Theories
Abstract: In this thesis we present an introduction to Soft-Collinear Effective Theory, which can be used to prove (or disprove) factorization theorems to all orders in the strong coupling constant for some B decays into light and energetic particles. Specifically, the factorizable amplitudes for inclusive B->X_u l nu and exclusive B->gamma l nu are calculated in renormalization-group improved perturbatio… ▽ More

QCD-Factorization of inclusive B decays and |Vub|

Factorization and the Soft Overlap Contribution to Heavy-to-Light Form Factors

The renormalized B-meson light-cone distribution amplitude
Abstract: I discuss the renormalization-group equation governing the leading order light-cone distribution amplitude of the B-meson phi^B_+(omega,mu) and its exact analytic solution. The solution displays two features concerning the asymptotic behaviour of phi^B_+(omega,mu) for small and large values of omega. Non-Valence Fock States in Heavy-to-Light Form Factors at Large Recoil
Abstract: We studied three-particle Fock state contributions to heavy-to-light form factors in the context of soft-collinear effective theory and found that they enter at leading power. External Operators and Anomalous Dimensions in Soft-Collinear Effective Theory
Abstract: It has recently been argued that soft-collinear effective theory for processes involving both soft and collinear partons contains a new soft-collinear mode, which can communicate between the soft and collinear sectors of the theory. The formalism incorporating the corresponding fields into the effective Lagrangian is extended to include external current and four-quark operators relevant to weak… ▽ More

Renormalization-Group Evolution of the B-Meson Light-Cone Distribution Amplitude
Abstract: An integro-differential equation governing the evolution of the leading-order B-meson light-cone distribution amplitude is derived. f_B and f_B_s from QCD sum rules
Abstract: The decay constants of the pseudoscalar mesons B and B_s are evaluated from QCD sum rules for the pseudoscalar two-point function. Recently calculated perturbative three-loop QCD corrections are incorporated into the sum rule. An analysis in terms of the bottom quark pole mass turns out to be unreliable due to large higher order radiative corrections. On the contrary, in the MS_bar scheme the hi… ▽ More
