The nonequilibrium dynamics of a periodically driven extended XY model, in the presence of linear time dependent magnetic filed, is investigated using the notion of dynamical quantum phase transitions (DQPTs). Along the similar lines to the equilibrium phase transition, the main purpose of this work is to search the fundamental concepts such as scaling and universality at the ramped quench DQPTs. We have shown that the critical points of the model, where the gap closing occurs, can be moved by tuning the driven frequency and consequently the presence/absence of DQPTs can be flexibly controlled by adjusting the driven frequency. %Taking advantage of this property, We have uncovered that, for a ramp across the single quantum critical point, the critical mode at which DQPTs occur is classified into three regions: the Kibble-Zurek (KZ) region, where the critical mode scales linearly with the square root of the sweep velocity, pre-saturated (PS) region, and the saturated (S) region where the critical mode makes a plateau versus the sweep velocity. While for a ramp that crosses two critical points, the critical modes disclose just KZ and PS regions. On the basis of numerical simulations, we find that the dynamical free energy scales linerly with time, as approaches to DQPT time, with the exponent $ν=1\pm 0.01$ for all sweep velocities and driven frequencies.

We study how time-dependent energy fluctuations impact the dynamical quantum phase transitions (DQPTs) following a noisy ramped quench of the transverse magnetic field in a quantum Ising chain. By numerically solving the stochastic Schrödinger equation of the mode-decoupled fermionic Hamiltonian of the problem, we identify two generic scenarios: Depending on the amplitude of the noise and the rate of the ramp, the expected periodic sequence of noiseless DQPTs may either be uniformly shifted in time or else replaced by a disarray of closely spaced DQPTs. Guided by an exact noise master equation, we trace the phenomenon to the interplay between noise-induced excitations which accumulate during the quench and the near-adiabatic dynamics of the massive modes of the system. Our analysis generalizes to any 1D fermionic two-band model subject to a noisy quench.

We investigate the nonlinear response of the Kitaev honeycomb lattice model in a weak magnetic field using the theory of two-dimensional coherent spectroscopy. We observe that at the isotropic point in the non-Abelian phase of this model, the nonlinear spectrum in the 2D frequency domain consists of sharp signals that originate from the flux excitations and Majorana bound states. Signatures of different flux excitations can be clearly observed in this spectrum, such that one can observe evidences of flux states with 4-adjacent, 2-non-adjacent, and 4-far-separated fluxes, which are not visible in linear response spectroscopy such as neutron scattering experiments. Moreover, in the Abelian phase we perceive that the spectrum in the frequency domain is composed of streak signals. These signals, as in the nonlinear response of the pure Kitaev model, represent a distinct signature of itinerant Majorana fermions. However, deep in the Abelian phase whenever a Kitaev exchange coupling is much stronger than the others, the streak signals are weakened and only single sharp spots are seen in the response, which resembles the dispersionless response of the conventional toric code.

The illustrative wave function for a quantum disentangled liquid (QDL) composed of light and heavy particles is examined within numerical simulations. Initial measurement on light particles gives rise to the volume law of the entanglement entropy of the heavy particles subsystem. The entropy reaches its maximum value as the ratio of the system to subsystem sizes increases. The standard deviation of entanglement entropy from its thermodynamic limit due to the initial configuration of the light particle is diminished within ensemble averaging. We have introduced a quantum circuit to simulate the underlying QDL state. The results of the quantum simulation are in agreement with the numerical simulations which confirms that the introduced circuit realizes a QDL state.

When time-reversal symmetry is broken by the magnetic field, a charge current occurs in the second-order response to an external electric field, as a result of the Berry curvature dipole in momentum space. We have shown that a nonlinear planar Hall effect originating from the anomalous velocity is deduced by an orbital effect of an in-plane magnetic field on electrons in bilayer graphene in the complete absence of spin-orbit coupling. Taking into account the symmetry analysis, we derived the dominant dependence of Berry curvature dipole moment on the magnetic field components. Moreover, we illustrate how to control and modulate the Berry curvature dipole with an external planar magnetic field, gate voltage, and Fermi energy.

Floquet dynamical quantum phase transitions (FDQPTs) are signified by recurrent nonanalytic behaviors of observables in time. In this work, we introduce a quench-free and generic approach to engineer and control FDQPTs for both pure and mixed Floquet states. By applying time-periodic modulations with two commensurate driving frequencies to a general class of spin chain model, we find multiple FDQPTs within each driving period. The nonanalytic cusps of return probability form sublattice structures in time domain. Notably, the number and time-locations of these cusps can be flexibly controlled by tuning the Hamiltonian parameter and the higher frequency of the drive. We further employ the dynamical topological order parameter (DTOP), which shows a quantized jump whenever a DQPT happens, to identify the topological feature of FDQPTs. Our findings reveal the advantage of engineering nonequilibrium phase transitions with multi-frequency driving fields.

In this paper, we show that OTOCs can be used to prob the Floquet dynamical quantum phase transitions (FDQPTs). We investigate the OTOCs of two exactly solvable Floquet spin models, namely: Floquet XY chain and synchronized Floquet XY model. We show that the border of driven frequency range, over which the Floquet XY model shows FDQPT, signals by the global minimum of the infinite-temperature time averaged OTOC. Moreover, our results manifest that OTOCs decay algebraically in the long time, for which the decay exponent in the FDQPT region is different from that of in the region where the system does not show FDQPTs. In addition, for the synchronized Floquet XY model, where FDQPT occurs at any driven frequency depending on the initial condition at infinite or finite temperature, the imaginary part of the OTOCs become zero whenever the system shows FDQPT.

The nonequilibrium dynamics of two dimensional Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model, in the presence of staggered chemical potential, is investigated using the notion of dynamical quantum phase transition. We contribute to expanding the systematic understanding of the interrelation between the equilibrium quantum phase transition and the dynamical quantum phase transition (DQPT). Specifically, we find that dynamical quantum phase transition relies on the existence of massless {\it propagating quasiparticles} as signaled by their impact on the Loschmidt overlap. These massless excitations are a subset of all gapless modes, which leads to quantum phase transitions. The underlying two dimensional model reveals gapless modes, which do not couple to the dynamical quantum phase transitions, while relevant massless quasiparticles present periodic nonanalytic signatures on the Loschmidt amplitude. The topological nature of DQPT is verified by the quantized integer values of the topological order parameter, which gets even values. Moreover, we have shown that the dynamical topolocical order parameter truly captures the topological phase transition on the zero Berry curvature line, where the Chern number is zero and the two dimensional Zak phase is not the proper idicator.

Magnons and phonons are two fundamental neutral excitations of magnetically ordered materials which can significantly dominate the low-energy thermal properties. In this work we study the interplay of magnons and phonons in honeycomb and Kagome lattices. When the mirror reflection with respect to the magnetic ordering direction is broken, the symmetry-allowed in-plane Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction will couple the magnons to the phonons and the magnon-polaron states are formed. Besides, both lattice structures also allow for an out-of-plane DM interaction rendering the uncoupled magnons to be topological. Our aim is to study the interplay of such topological magnons with phonons. We show that the hybridization between magnons and phonons can significantly redistribute the Berry curvature among the bands. Especially, we found that the topological magnon band becomes trivial while the hybridized states at lower energy acquire Berry curvature strongly peaked near the avoided crossings. As such the thermal Hall conductivity of topological magnons shows significant changes due to coupling to the phonons.

We investigate both pure and mixed states Floquet dynamical quantum phase transition (DQPT) in the periodically time-dependent extended XY model. We exactly show that the proposed Floquet Hamiltonian of interacting spins can be expressed as a sum of noninteracting quasi-spins imposed by an effective time dependent magnetic field (Schwinger-Rabi model). The calculated Chern number indicates that there is a topological transition from nonadiabatic to adiabatic regime. In the adiabatic regime, the quasi-spins trace the time dependent effective magnetic field and then oscillate between spin up and down states. While in the nonadiabatic regime, the quasi-spins cannot follow the time dependent effective magnetic field and feel an average magnetic field. We find the range of driving frequency over which the quasi-spins experience adiabatic cyclic processes. Moreover, we obtain the exact expression of the Loschmidt amplitude and generalized Loschmidt amplitude of the proposed Floquet system. The results represent that both pure and mixed states dynamical phase transition occurs when the system evolves adiabatically. In other words, the minimum required driving frequency for the appearance of Floquet DQPT is equal to the threshold frequency needed for transition from nonadiabatic to adiabatic regime.

Recent works on observation of discrete time-crystalline signatures throw up major puzzles on the necessity of localization for stabilizing such out-of-equilibrium phases. Motivated by these studies, we delve into a clean interacting Floquet system, whose quasi-spectrum conforms to the ergodic Wigner-Dyson distribution, yet with an unexpectedly robust, long-lived time-crystalline dynamics in the absence of disorder or fine-tuning. We relate such behavior to a measure zero set of nonthermal Floquet eigenstates with long-range spatial correlations, which coexist with otherwise thermal states at near-infinite temperature and develop a high overlap with a family of translationally invariant, symmetry-broken initial conditions. This resembles the notion of "dynamical scars" that remain robustly localized throughout a thermalizing Floquet spectrum with fractured structure. We dub such a long-lived discrete time crystal formed in partially nonergodic systems, "scarred discrete time crystal" which is distinct by nature from those stabilized by either many-body localization or prethermalization mechanism.

In this work we study the phase diagram of Kekulé-Kitaev model. The model is defined on a honeycomb lattice with bond dependent anisotropic exchange interactions making it exactly solvable in terms of Majorana representation of spins in close analogy to the Kitaev model. However, the energy spectrum of Majorana fermions has a multi-band structure characterized by Chern numbers 0, $\pm$1, and $\pm2$. We obtained the phase diagram of the model in the plane of exchange couplings and in the presence of a magnetic field and found chiral topological and trivial spin-liquid ground states. In the absence of magnetic field most part of the phase diagram is a trivial gapped phase continuously connected to an Abelian phase, while in the presence of the magnetic field a topological phase arises. Furthermore, motivated by recent thermal measurements on the spin-liquid candidate $α$-RuCl$_{3}$, we calculated the thermal Hall conductivity at different regimes of parameters and temperatures and found the latter is quantized over a wide range of temperatures.

We investigate the ground-state phase diagram of the frustrated transverse field Ising (TFI) model on the checkerboard lattice (CL), which consists of Néel, collinear, quantum paramagnet and plaquette-valence bond solid (VBS) phases. We implement a numerical simulation that is based on the recently developed unconstrained tree tensor network (TTN) ansatz, which systematically improves the accuracy over the conventional methods as it exploits the internal gauge selections. At the highly frustrated region ($J_2=J_1$), we observe a second order phase transition from plaquette-VBS state to paramagnet phase at the critical magnetic field, $Γ_{c}=0.28$, with the associated critical exponents $ν=1$ and $γ\simeq0.4$, which are obtained within the finite size scaling analysis on different lattice sizes $N=4\times 4, 6\times 6, 8\times8$. The stability of plaquette-VBS phase at low magnetic fields is examined by spin-spin correlation function, which verifies the presence of plaquette-VBS at $J_2=J_1$ and rules out the existence of a Néel phase. In addition, our numerical results suggest that the transition from Néel (for $J_2<J_1$) to plaquette-VBS phase is a deconfined phase transition. Moreover, we introduce a map**, which renders the low-energy effective theory of TFI on CL to be the same model on $J_1-J_2$ square lattice (SL). We show that the plaquette-VBS phase of the highly frustrated point $J_2=J_1$ on CL is mapped to the emergent string-VBS phase on SL at $J_2=0.5J_1$.

Differently, in the Creutz model $-$ describing a system of spinless fermions hop** on a two-leg ladder pierced by a magnetic field $-$ the gap closing at the quantum phase transition between the two topologically nontrivial phases of the model can be moved by tuning the hop** amplitudes. We take advantage of this property to examine the nonequilibrium dynamics of the model after a sudden quench of the magnetic flux through the plaquettes of the ladder. For a quench to one of the equilibrium quantum critical points we find that the revival period of the Loschmidt echo $-$ measuring the overlap between initial and time-evolved states $-$ is controlled by the gap closing zero-energy modes. In particular, and contrary to expectations, the revival period of the Loschmidt echo for a finite ladder does not scale linearly with size but exhibits jumps determined by the presence or absence of zero-energy modes. We further investigate the conditions for the appearance of dynamical quantum phase transitions in the model and find that, for a quench {\em to} an equilibrium critical point, such transitions occur only for ladders of sizes which host zero-energy modes. Exploiting concepts from quantum thermodynamics, we show that the average work and the irreversible work per lattice site exhibit a weak dependence on the size of the system after a quench {\em across} an equilibrium critical point, suggesting that quenching into a different phase induces effective correlations among the particles.

We introduce a clean cluster spin chain coupled to fully interacting spinless fermions, forming an unconstrained Z2 lattice gauge theory (LGT) which possesses dynamical proximity effect controlled by the entanglement structure of the initial state. We expand the machinery of interaction-driven localization to the realm of LGTs such that for any starting product state, the matter fields exhibits emergent statistical bubble localization, which is driven solely by the cluster interaction, having no topologically trivial non-interacting peer, and thus is of pure dynamical many-body effect. In this vein, our proposed setting provides possibly the minimal model drop** all the conventional assumptions regarding the existence of many-body localization. Through projective measurement of local constituting species, we also identify the coexistence of the disentangled nonergodic matter and thermalized gauge degrees of freedom which stands completely beyond the standard established phenomenology of quantum disentangled liquids. As a by product of self-localization of the proximate fermions, the spin subsystem hosts the long-lived topological edge zero modes, which are dynamically decoupled from the thermalized background Z2 charges of the bulk, and hence remains cold at arbitrary high-energy density. This provides a convenient platform for strong protection of the quantum bits of information which are embedded at the edges of completely ergodic sub-system; the phenomenon that in the absence of such proximity-induced self-localization could, at best, come about with a pre-thermal manner in translational invariant systems. Finally, by breaking local Z2 symmetry of the model, we argue that such admixture of particles no longer remains disentangled and the ergodic gauge degrees of freedom act as a "small bath" coupled to the localized components.

We investigate the magnetotransport properties of a two-dimensional electron gas with anisotropic k-cubic Rashba interaction at the $\rm{LaAlO_3}$/$\rm{SrTiO_3}$ interface. The Landau levels and density of states of the system as well as the magnetotransport coefficients are evaluated. A somehow anomalous beating pattern in low magnetic field regime is found both in the density profile and magnetoresistivity. We discuss the impact of electron density, Landau level broadening and Rashba spin-orbit constant on the appearance of the beatings in low magnetic fields and find that at low electron concentrations and not very strong spin-orbit interactions the beatings smooth out. On the other hand, as the magnetic field increases, the Zeeman term becomes the dominant splitting mechanism leading to the spin-split peaks in SdH oscillations. We also show that the observation of the beatings in low magnetic fields needs a system with rather higher carrier concentration so that the beatings persist up to sufficiently large fields where the oscillations are not smoothed out by Landau level broadening. The quantum Hall plateaus are evaluated and we show the Chern number with both even and odd values is replaced by the odd numbers when two subband energies are close with spin degenerate energy levels. Along with the numerical evaluation of the magnetotransport properties, a perturbative calculation is also performed which can be used in the case of low densities and not very large filling factors.

We enquire into the quasi-many-body localization in topologically ordered states of matter, revolving around the case of Kitaev toric code on ladder geometry, where different types of anyonic defects carry different masses induced by environmental errors. Our study verifies that random arrangement of anyons generates a complex energy landscape solely through braiding statistics, which suffices to suppress the diffusion of defects in such multi-component anyonic liquid. This non-ergodic dynamic suggests a promising scenario for investigation of quasi-many-body localization. Computing standard diagnostics evidences that, in such disorder-free many-body system, a typical initial inhomogeneity of anyons gives birth to a glassy dynamics with an exponentially diverging time scale of the full relaxation. A by-product of this dynamical effect is manifested by the slow growth of entanglement entropy, with characteristic time scales bearing resemblance to those of inhomogeneity relaxation. This setting provides a new platform which paves the way toward impeding logical errors by self-localization of anyons in a generic, high energy state, originated in their exotic statistics.

We investigate the ground state nature of the transverse field Ising model on the $J_1-J_2$ square lattice at the highly frustrated point $J_2/J_1=0.5$. At zero field, the model has an exponentially large degenerate classical ground state, which can be affected by quantum fluctuations for non-zero field toward a unique quantum ground state. We consider two types of quantum fluctuations, harmonic ones by using linear spin wave theory (LSWT) with single-spin flip excitations above a long range magnetically ordered background and anharmonic fluctuations, by employing a cluster-operator approach (COA) with multi-spin cluster type fluctuations above a non-magnetic cluster ordered background. Our findings reveal that the harmonic fluctuations of LSWT fail to lift the extensive degeneracy as well as signaling a violation of the Hellmann-Feynman theorem. However, the string-type anharmonic fluctuations of COA are able to lift the degeneracy toward a string-valence bond solid (VBS) state, which is obtained from an effective theory consistent with the Hellmann-Feynman theorem as well. Our results are further confirmed by implementing numerical tree tensor network simulation. The emergent non-magnetic string-VBS phase is gapped and breaks lattice rotational symmetry with only two-fold degeneracy, which bears a continuous quantum phase transition at $Γ/J_1 \cong 0.50$ to the quantum paramagnet phase of high fields. The critical behavior is characterized by $ν\cong 1.0$ and $γ\cong 0.33$ exponents.

The ruby lattice is a four-valent lattice interpolating between honeycomb and triangular lattices. In this work we investigate the topological spin-liquid phases of a spin Hamiltonian with Kitaev interactions on the ruby lattice using exact diagonalization and perturbative methods. The latter interactions combined with the structure of the lattice yield a model with $\mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2$ gauge symmetry. We mapped out the phase digram of the model and found gapped and gapless spin-liquid phases. While the low energy sector of the gapped phase corresponds to the well-known topological color code model on a honeycomb lattice, the low-energy sector of the gapless phases is described by an effective spin model with three-body interactions on a triangular lattice. A gap is opened in the spectrum in a small magnetic field. We argue that the latter phases could be possibly described by exotic excitations, whose their spectrum is richer than the Ising phase of the Kitaev model.

We calculate the mobility of a two-dimensional electron gas residing at the interface of LaAlO$_{3}$/SrTiO$_{3}$ following a three band Boltzmann approach at low temperature, where carrier-charged impurity scattering process is assumed to be dominant. We explain the anisotropic characteristic of the dielectric function, which is a consequence of elliptical bands close to Fermi surface. The screening effect, which weakens the long-range Coulomb interaction of the electron-impurity is considered within the random phase approximation. Working at carrier densities high enough to neglect the spin-orbit induced splitting of the bands, we find that the mobility varies inversely with the cubic power of the carrier density ($n_{2D}^{-3}$) in good agreement with the experimental results. We also investigate the role of variable dielectric constant of SrTiO$_{3}$, the multiband nature of the system and interband interactions in exploring this result.

We use the topological entanglement entropy (TEE) as an efficient tool to fully characterize the Abelian phase of a $\mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2$ spin liquid emerging as the ground state of topological color code (TCC), which is a class of stabilizer states on the honeycomb lattice. We provide the fusion rules of the quasiparticle (QP) excitations of the model by introducing single- or two-body operators on physical spins for each fusion process which justify the corresponding fusion outcome. Beside, we extract the TEE from Renyi entanglement entropy (EE) of the TCC, analytically and numerically by finite size exact diagonalization on the disk shape regions with contractible boundaries. We obtain that the EE has a local contribution, which scales linearly with the boundary length in addition to a topological term, i.e. the TEE, arising from the condensation of closed strings in the ground state. We further investigate the ground state dependence of the TEE on regions with non-contractible boundaries, i.e. by cutting the torus to half cylinders, from which we further identify multiple independent minimum entropy states (MES) of the TCC and then extract the U and S modular matrices of the system, which contain the self and mutual statistics of the anyonic QPs and fully characterize the topological phase of the TCC. Eventually, we show that, in spite of the lack of a local order parameter, TEE and other physical quantities obtained from ground state wave function such as entanglement spectrum (ES) and ground state fidelity are sensitive probes to study the robustness of a topological phase. We find that the topological order in the presence of a magnetic field persists until the vicinity of the transition point, where the TEE and fidelity drops to zero and the ES splits severely, signaling breakdown of the topological phase of the TCC.

We have applied the real space quantum renormalization group approach to study the topological quantum phase transition in the one-dimensional chain of a spinless p-wave superconductor. We investigate the behavior of local compressibility and ground-state fidelity of the Kitaev chain. We show that the topological phase transition is signaled by the maximum of local compressibility at the quantum critical point tuned by the chemical potential. Moreover, a sudden drop of the ground-state fidelity and the divergence of fidelity susceptibility at the topological quantum critical point have been used as a proper indicators for the topological quantum phase transition, which signals the appearance of Majorana fermions. We also present the scaling analysis of ground-state fidelity near the critical point that manifests the universal information about the topological phase transition.

We characterize phases of the compass ladder model by using degenerate perturbation theory, symmetry fractionalization, and numerical techniques. Through degenerate perturbation theory we obtain an effective Hamiltonian for each phase of the model, and show that a cluster model and the Ising model encapsulate the nature of all phases. In particular, the cluster phase has a symmetry-protected topological order, protected by a specific $\mathbb{Z}_2\times \mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry, and the Ising phase has a $\mathbb{Z}_2$-symmetry-breaking order characterized by a local order parameter expressed by the magnetization exponent $0.12\pm0.01$. The symmetry-protected topological phases inherit all properties of the cluster phases, although we show analytically and numerically that they belong to different classes. In addition, we study the one-dimensional quantum compass model, which naturally emerges from the compass ladder, and show that a partial symmetry breaking occurs upon quantum phase transition. We numerically demonstrate that a local order parameter accurately determines the quantum critical point and its corresponding universality class.

We study the interplay between the Kitaev and Ising interactions on both ladder and two dimensional lattices. We show that the ground state of the Kitaev ladder is a symmetry-protected topological (SPT) phase, which is protected by a $\mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry. It is confirmed by the degeneracy of the entanglement spectrum and non-trivial phase factors (inequivalent projective representations of the symmetries), which are obtained within infinite matrix-product representation of numerical density matrix renormalization group. We derive the effective theory to describe the topological phase transition on both ladder and two-dimensional lattices, which is given by the transverse field Ising model with/without next-nearest neighbor coupling. The ladder has three phases, namely, the Kitaev SPT, symmetry broken ferro/antiferromagnetic order and classical spin-liquid. The non-zero quantum critical point and its corresponding central charge are provided by the effective theory, which are in full agreement with the numerical results, i.e., the divergence of entanglement entropy at the critical point, change of the entanglement spectrum degeneracy and a drop in the ground-state fidelity. The central charge of the critical points are either c=1 or c=2, with the magnetization and correlation exponents being 1/4 and 1/2, respectively. In the absence of frustration, the 2D lattice shows a topological phase transition from the $\mathbb{Z}_2$ spin-liquid state to the long-range ordered Ising phase at finite ratio of couplings, while in the presence of frustration, an order-by-disorder transition is induced by the Kitaev term. The 2D classical spin-liquid phase is unstable against the addition of Kitaev term toward an ordered phase before the transition to the $\mathbb{Z}_2$ spin-liquid state.

We employ the infinite matrix-product state representation of the ground state (through the infinite-size density matrix renormalization group algorithm) to obtain inequivalent projective representations of the (unbroken) symmetry groups of the model, which are used to identify the different phases. We find that the model exhibits trivial as well as symmetry-protected topological phases. The symmetry-protected topological phases are Haldane phases on even/odd bonds, which are protected by the time-reversal (acting on the spin as $σ\rightarrow-σ$), parity (permutation of the chain about a specific bond), and dihedral ($π$-rotations about a pair of orthogonal axes) symmetries. Additionally, we investigate the phases of the most general two-body bond-alternating spin-$1/2$ model, which respects the time-reversal, parity, and dihedral symmetries, and obtain its corresponding twelve different types of the symmetry-protected topological phases.

We study the effect of quantum fluctuations by means of a transverse magnetic field ($Γ$) on the antiferromagnetic $J_1-J_2$ Ising model on the checkerboard lattice, the two dimensional version of the pyrochlore lattice. The zero-temperature phase diagram of the model has been obtained by employing a plaquette operator approach (POA). The plaquette operator formalism bosonizes the model, in which a single boson is associated to each eigenstate of a plaquette and the inter-plaquette interactions define an effective Hamiltonian. The excitations of a plaquette would represent an-harmonic fluctuations of the model, which lead not only to lower the excitation energy compared with a single-spin flip but also to lift the extensive degeneracy in favor of a plaquette ordered solid (RPS) state, which breaks lattice translational symmetry, in addition to a unique collinear phase for $J_2>J_1$. The bosonic excitation gap vanishes at the critical points to the Néel ($J_2 < J_1$) and collinear ($J_2 > J_1$) ordered phases, which defines the critical phase boundaries. At the homogeneous coupling ($J_2=J_1$) and its close neighborhood, the (canted) RPS state, established from an-harmonic fluctuations, lasts for low fields, $Γ/J_1\lesssim 0.3$, which is followed by a transition to the quantum paramagnet (polarized) phase at high fields. The transition from RPS state to the Néel phase is either a deconfined quantum phase transition or a first order one, however a continuous transition occurs between RPS and collinear phases.

We study the thermal transport of a spin-1/2 two leg antiferromagnetic ladder in the direction of legs. The possible effect of spin-orbit coupling and crystalline electric field are investigated in terms of anisotropies in the Heisenberg interactions on both leg and rung couplings. The original spin ladder is mapped to a bosonic model via a bond-operator transformation where an infinite hard-core repulsion is imposed to constrain one boson occupation per site. The Green's function approach is applied to obtain the energy spectrum of quasi-particle excitations responsible for thermal transport. The thermal conductivity is found to be monotonically decreasing with temperature due to increased scattering among triplet excitations at higher temperatures. A tiny dependence of thermal transport on the anisotropy in the leg direction at low temperatures is observed in contrast to the strong one on the anisotropy along the rung direction, due to the direct effect of the triplet density. Our results reach asymptotically the ballistic regime of the spin - 1/2 Heisenberg chain and compare favorably well with exact diagonalization data.

We propose an exactly solvable waveguide lattice incorporating inhomogeneous coupling coefficient. This structure provides a classical analogue to the squeezed number and squeezed coherent intensity distribution in quantum optics where the propagation length plays the role of squeezed amplitude. The intensity pattern is obtained in a closed form for an arbitrary distribution of the initial beam profile. We have also investigated the phase transition to the spatial Bloch-like oscillations by adding a linear gradient to the propagation constant of each waveguides ($ α$). Our analytical results show that the Bloch-like oscillations appear above a critical value for the linear gradient of propagation constant ($ α> α_{c} $). The phase transition (in the propagation properties of the waveguide) is a result of competition between discrete and Bragg diffraction. Moreover, the light intensity decay algebraically along each waveguide at the critical point while it falls off exponentially below the critical point ($ α< α_{c} $).

To this end, nonlinear zigzag optical waveguide lattices are applied, which allows precise tuning of the second-order coupling. We find that localization is hindered by coupling between next-nearest lattice sites. Additionally, (focusing) nonlinearity facilitates localization with increasing disorder, as long as the nonlinearity is sufficiently weak. However, for strong nonlinearities, increasing disorder results in weaker localization. The threshold nonlinearity, above which this anomalous result is observed grows with increasing second-order coupling.

We obtain the renormalization of fidelity in terms of quantum renormalization group without the need to know the ground state. We calculate the fidelity susceptibility and its scaling behavior close to quantum critical point (QCP) to find the critical exponent which governs the divergence of correlation length. The model consists of a long range antiferromagnetic order with nonzero staggered magnetization which is separated from a helical ordered phase at QCP. Our results state that the critical exponent is independent of the bond alternation parameter (lambda) while the maximum attainable helical order depends on lambda.

The expected phenomenology of non-interacting topological band insulators (TBI) is now largely theoretically understood. However, the fate of TBIs in the presence of interactions remains an active area of research with novel, interaction-driven topological states possible, as well as new exotic magnetic states. In this work we study the magnetic phases of an exchange Hamiltonian arising in the strong interaction limit of a Hubbard model on the honeycomb lattice whose non-interacting limit is a two-dimensional TBI recently proposed for the layered heavy transition metal oxide compound, (Li,Na)$_2$IrO$_3$. By a combination of analytical methods and exact diagonalization studies on finite size clusters, we map out the magnetic phase diagram of the model. We find that strong spin-orbit coupling can lead to a phase transition from an antiferromagnetic Neél state to a spiral or stripy ordered state. We also discuss the conditions under which a quantum spin liquid may appear in our model, and we compare our results with the different but related Kitaev-Heisenberg-$J_2$-$J_3$ model which has recently been studied in a similar context.

The Kondo-necklace model can describe magnetic low-energy limit of strongly correlated heavy fermion materials. There exist multiple energy scales in this model corresponding to each phase of the system. Here, we study quantum phase transition between the Kondo-singlet phase and the antiferromagnetic long-range ordered phase, and show the effect of anisotropies in terms of quantum information properties and vanishing energy gap. We employ the "perturbative continuous unitary transformations" approach to calculate the energy gap and spin-spin correlations for the model in the thermodynamic limit of one, two, and three spatial dimensions as well as for spin ladders. In particular, we show that the method, although being perturbative, can predict the expected quantum critical point, where the gap of low-energy spectrum vanishes, which is in good agreement with results of other numerical and Green's function analyses. In addition, we employ concurrence, a bipartite entanglement measure, to study the criticality of the model. Absence of singularities in the derivative of concurrence in two and three dimensions in the Kondo-necklace model shows that this model features multipartite entanglement. We also discuss crossover from the one-dimensional to the two-dimensional model via the ladder structure.

The exact factorized ground state of a heterogeneous (ferrimagnetic) spin model which is composed of two spins ($ρ, σ$) has been presented in detail. The Hamiltonian is not necessarily translational invariant and the exchange couplings can be competing antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic arbitrarily between different sub-lattices to build many practical models such as dimerized and tetramerized materials and ladder compounds. The condition to get a factorized ground state is investigated for non-frustrated spin models in the presence of a uniform and a staggered magnetic field. According to the lattice model structure we have categorized the spin models in two different classes and obtained their factorization conditions. The first class contains models in which their lattice structures do not provide a single uniform magnetic field to suppress the quantum correlations. Some of these models may have a factorized ground state in the presence of a uniform and a staggered magnetic field. However, in the second class there are several spin models in which their ground state could be factorized whether a staggered field is applied to the system or not. For the latter case, in the absence of a staggered field the factorizing uniform field is unique. However, the degrees of freedom for obtaining the factorization conditions are increased by adding a staggered magnetic field.

We investigate the phase diagram of an anisotropic ferrimagnet spin-(1/2, 1) in the presence of a non-commuting (transverse) magnetic field. We find a magnetization plateau for the isotropic case while there is no plateau for the anisotropic ferrimagnet. The magnetization plateau can appear only when the Hamiltonian has the U(1) symmetry in the presence of the magnetic field. The anisotropic model is driven by the magnetic field from the Néel phase for low fields to the spin-flop phase for intermediate fields and then to the paramagnetic phase for high fields. We find the quantum critical points and their dependence on the anisotropy of the aforementioned field-induced quantum phase transitions. The spin-flop phase corresponds to the spontaneous breaking of Z2 symmetry. We use the numerical density matrix renormalization group and analytic spin wave theory to find the phase diagram of the model. The energy gap, sublattice magnetization, and total magnetization parallel and perpendicular to the magnetic field are also calculated. The elementary excitation spectrums of the model are obtained via the spin wave theory in the three different regimes depending on the strength of the magnetic field.

The field induced quantum critical properties of the three dimensional spin-1/2 anisotropic antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model has been studied. We have investigated the quantum phase transition between the spiral order and field induced ferromagnetic order by means of Bose-Einstein condensation of magnons in terms of a bosonic representation. The effect of in-plane anisotropy on the critical properties has been studied via the bosonic model by Green's function approach. We have found an analytic expression for the gap exponent in addition to numerical results for the critical magnetic field in terms of anisotropy parameter. The in-plane anisotropy breaks the U(1) symmetry explicitly which changes the universal behavior by a drastic change on the gap exponent. Moreover, the critical magnetic field depends strongly on the in-plane anisotropies. The divergence of the transverse structure factor at the antiferromagnetic wave vector confirms the onset of the magnetic order which scales with the negative value of gap exponent as the magnetic field approaches the critical one. The transverse staggered magnetization as an order parameter vanishes with exponent $β=0.5$ when the magnetic field reaches its critical value in low field region.

We have found the exact (factorized) ground state of a general class of ferrimagnets in the presence of a magnetic field which covers the frustrated, anisotropic and long range interactions for arbitrary dimensional space. In particular cases, our model represents the bond-alternating, ferromagnet-antiferromagnet and also homogeneous spin $s$ model. The factorized ground state is a product of single particle kets on a bipartite lattice composed of two different spins ($ρ, σ$). The spin waves analysis around the exact ground state show two branch of excitations which is the origin of two dynamics of the model. The signature of these dynamics is addressed as a peak and a broaden bump in the specific heat.

We have studied the symmetric and non-symmetric pairwise ground state and thermal entanglement in three-qubit anisotropic Heisenberg (XXZ) and Ising in a magnetic field models and in the presence of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction. We have found that increasing of the DM interaction and magnetic field can enhance and reduce the entanglement of system. We have shown that the non-symmetric pairwise has higher value concurrence and critical temperature (above which the entanglement vanishes) than the symmetric pairwise. For negative anisotropy the non-symmetric entanglement is a monotonic function of DM interaction while for positive anisotropy it has a maximum versus DM parameter and vanishes for larger values of DM interaction. The conditions for the existence of thermal entanglement are discussed in details. The most remarkable result happens at zero temperature where 3-qubit ground state entanglement of the system (in spite of 2-qubit counterpart) shows the fingerprint of quantum phase transition for an infinite size system.

In this paper the the effect of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction and anisotropy on the Entanglement of Heisenberg chain has been studied. While the anisotropy suppress the entanglement due to favoring of the alignment of spins, the DM interaction restores the spoiled entanglement via creation of the quantum fluctuations. Thermodynamic limit of the model and emerging of non-analytic behavior of the entanglement have also been probed. The singularities of the entanglement correspond to the critical boundary separating different phases of the model. The singularity of the entanglement derivative approaches the critical point from the gapped phase and will be symmetric if both phase on the boundary are gapped.

We have investigated the zero and finite temperature behaviors of the anisotropic antiferromagnetic Heisenberg XXZ spin-1/2 chain in the presence of a transverse magnetic field (h). The attention is concentrated on an interval of magnetic field between the factorizing field (h_f) and the critical one (h_c). The model presents a spin-flop phase for 0<h<h_f with an energy scale which is defined by the long range antiferromagnetic order while it undergoes an entanglement phase transition at h=h_f. The entanglement estimators clearly show that the entanglement is lost exactly at h=h_f which justifies different quantum correlations on both sides of the factorizing field. As a consequence of zero entanglement (at h=h_f) the ground state is known exactly as a product of single particle states which is the starting point for initiating a spin wave theory. The linear spin wave theory is implemented to obtain the specific heat and thermal entanglement of the model in the interested region. A double peak structure is found in the specific heat around h=h_f which manifests the existence of two energy scales in the system as a result of two competing orders before the critical point. These results are confirmed by the low temperature Lanczos data which we have computed.

We have studied the phase diagram and entanglement of the one dimensional Ising model with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction. We have applied the quantum renormalization group (QRG) approach to get the stable fixed points, critical point and the scaling of coupling constants. This model has two phases, antiferromagnetic and saturated chiral ones. We have shown that the staggered magnetization is the order parameter of the system and DM interaction produces the chiral order in both phases. We have also implemented the exact diagonalization (Lanczos) method to calculate the static structure factors. The divergence of structure factor at the ordering momentum as the size of systems goes to infinity defines the critical point of the model. Moreover, we have analyzed the relevance of the entanglement in the model which allows us to shed insight on how the critical point is touched as the size of the system becomes large. Nonanalytic behavior of entanglement and finite size scaling have been analyzed which is tightly connected to the critical properties of the model. It is also suggested that a spin-fluid phase has a chiral order in terms of new spin operators which are defined by a nonlocal transformation.

We have studied the quantum phase transition between the antiferromagnetic and spin liquid phase for the two dimensional anisotropic Kondo-necklace model. The bond operator formalism has been implemented to transform the spin Hamiltonian to a bosonic one. We have used the Green's function approach including a hard core repulsion to find the low energy excitation spectrum of the model. The bosonic excitations become gapless at the quantum critical point where the phase transition from the Kondo singlet state to long range antiferromagnetic order takes place. We have studied the effect of both inter-site (delta) and local (Delta) anisotropies on the critical point and on the critical exponent of the excitation gap in the paramagnetic phase. We have also compared our results with previous bond operator mean field calculations.

The one dimensional anisotropic Kondo-necklace model has been studied by several methods. It is shown that a mean field approach fails to gain the correct phase diagram for the Ising type anisotropy. We then applied the spin wave theory which is justified for the anisotropic case. We have derived the phase diagram between the antiferromagnetic long range order and the Kondo singlet phases. We have found that the exchange interaction (J) between the itinerant spins and local ones enhances the quantum fluctuations around the classical long range antiferromagnetic order and finally destroy the ordered phase at the critical value, J_c. Moreover, our results show that the onset of anisotropy in the XY term of the itinerant interactions develops the antiferromagnetic order for J<J_c. This is in agreement with the qualitative feature which we expect from the symmetry of the anisotropic XY interaction. We have justified our results by the numerical Lanczos method where the structure factor at the antiferromagnetic wave vector diverges as the size of system goes to infinity.

We have applied our recent approach (Kargarian, et.al Phys. Rev. A 76, 60304 (R) (2007)) to study the quantum information properties of the anisotropic s=1/2 Heisenberg chain. We have investigated the underlying quantum information properties like the evolution of concurrence, entanglement entropy, nonanalytic behaviours and the scaling close to the quantum critical point of the model. Both the concurrence and the entanglement entropy develop two saturated values after enough iterations of the renormalization of coupling constants. This values are associated with the two different phases, i.e Neel and spin liquid phases. The nonanalytic behaviour comes from the divergence of the first derivative of both measures of entanglement as the size of system becomes large. The renormalization scheme demonstrates how the minimum value of the first derivative and its position scales with an exponent of the system size. It is shown that this exponent is directly related to the critical properties of the model, i.e. the exponent governing the divergence of the correlation length close to the quantum critical point. We also use a renormalization method based on the quantum group concept in order to get more insight about the critical properties of the model and the renormalization of entanglement.

The thermal, field dependence of specific heat and correlation functions for chains up to 20 sites have been calculated. The area where the specific heat decays exponentially is considered as a measure of the energy gap. We have also obtained the exchange interaction between chains in a bulk material using the random phase approximation and derived the phase diagram of the three dimensional material with this approximation. The behavior of the structure factor at different momenta verifies the antiferromagnetic long range order in y-direction for the three dimensional case. Moreover, we have concluded that the Low Temperature Lanczos results [M. Aichhorn et al., Phys. Rev. B 67, 161103(R) (2003)] are more accurate for low temperatures and closer to the full diagonalization ones than the results of Finite Temperature Lanczos Method [J. Jaklic and P. Prelovsek, Phys. We have combined the idea of renormalization group and quantum information theory. We have shown how the entanglement or concurrence evolve as the size of the system being large, i.e. the finite size scaling is obtained. Moreover, It introduces how the renormalization group approach can be implemented to obtain the quantum information properties of a many body system. We have obtained the concurrence as a measure of entanglement, its derivatives and their scaling behavior versus the size of system for the one dimensional Ising model in transverse field. We have found that the derivative of concurrence between two blocks each containing half of the system size diverges at the critical point with the exponent which is directly associated with the divergence of the correlation length.
