No significant signals are observed in the non-resonant $μ^+μ^-$ modes, and upper limits of $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \rightarrow \overline{D}^0 μ^+ μ^-) < 5.1 \times 10^{-8}$, $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \rightarrow D_s^+ μ^+ μ^-) < 3.2 \times 10^{-8}$, $\mathcal{B}(B_s^0 \rightarrow \overline{D}^0 μ^+ μ^-) < 1.6 \times 10^{-7}$ and $f_c/f_u \cdot \mathcal{B}(B_c^+ \rightarrow D_s^+ μ^+ μ^-) < 9.6 \times 10^{-8}$ are set at the 95\% confidence level, where $f_c$ and $f_u$ are the fragmentation fractions of a $B$ meson with a $c$ and $u$ quark respectively in proton-proton collisions. Each result is either the first such measurement or an improvement by three orders of magnitude on an existing limit. Separate upper limits are calculated when the muon pair originates from a $J/ψ\rightarrow μ^+ μ^-$ decay. The branching fraction of $B_c^+ \rightarrow D_s^+ J/ψ$ multiplied by the fragmentation-fraction ratio is measured to be $f_c/f_u \cdot \mathcal{B}(B_c^+ \rightarrow D_s^+ J/ψ) = (1.63 \pm 0.15 \pm 0.13) \times 10^{-5}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic.

The decay-time-dependent $CP$ asymmetry in $B^0_s\to J/ψ(\to μ^{+}μ^{-}) K^{+}K^{-}$ decays is measured using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 $fb^{-1}$, collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. Using a sample of approximately 349 000 $B^{0}_{s}$ signal decays with an invariant $K^{+}K^{-}$ mass in the vicinity of the $φ(1020)$ resonance, the $CP$-violating phase $φ_s$ is measured, along with the difference in decay widths of the light and heavy mass eigenstates of the $B^0_s$-$\bar{B}^0_s$ system, $ΔΓ_s$, and the difference of the average $B^0_s$ and $B^0$ meson decay widths, $Γ_s-Γ_d$. The values obtained are $φ_s = \ -0.039 \pm 0.022 \pm 0.006$ rad, $ΔΓ_s = 0.0845 \pm 0.0044 \pm 0.0024 $ ps$^{-1}$ and $Γ_s-Γ_d = -0.0056 ^{+ 0.0013}_{-0.0015} \pm 0.0014$ ps$^{-1}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. These are the most precise single measurements to date and are consistent with expectations based on the Standard Model and with the previous LHCb analyses of this decay. These results are combined with previous independent LHCb measurements. The phase $φ_s$ is also measured independently for each polarization state of the $K^{+}K^{-}$ system and shows no evidence for polarization dependence.

Transverse bulk phonons in a multimode integrated quantum acoustic device are excited and characterized via their free-space coupling to a three-dimensional (3D) microwave cavity. These bulk acoustic modes are defined by the geometry of the Y-cut lithium niobate substrate in which they reside and couple to the cavity electric field via a large dipole antenna, with an interaction strength on the order of the cavity line-width. Using finite element modeling (FEM) we determine that the bulk phonons excited by the cavity field have a transverse polarization with a shear velocity matching previously reported values. We demonstrate how the coupling between these transverse acoustic modes and the electric field of the 3D cavity depends on the relative orientation of the device dipole, with a coupling persisting to room temperature. Our study demonstrates the versatility of 3D microwave cavities for mediating contact-less coupling to quantum, and classical, piezoacoustic devices.

This paper reports the observation of the decays $B_{(s)}^{0}\to D_{s1}(2536)^{\mp}K^{\pm}$ using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $9\,\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$. The branching fractions of these decays are measured relative to the normalisation channel $B^{0}\to \overline{D}^{0}K^{+}K^{-}$. The $D_{s1}(2536)^{-}$ meson is reconstructed in the $\overline{D}^{*}(2007)^{0}K^{-}$ decay channel and the products of branching fractions are measured to be $$\mathcal{B}(B_{s}^{0}\to D_{s1}(2536)^{\mp}K^{\pm})\times\mathcal{B}(D_{s1}(2536)^{-}\to\overline{D}^{*}(2007)^{0}K^{-})=(2.49\pm0.11\pm0.12\pm0.25\pm0.06)\times 10^{-5}, $$ $$\mathcal{B}(B^{0}\to D_{s1}(2536)^{\mp}K^{\pm})\times\mathcal{B}(D_{s1}(2536)^{-}\to\overline{D}^{*}(2007)^{0}K^{-}) = (0.510\pm0.021\pm0.036\pm0.050)\times 10^{-5}.$$ The first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third arises from the uncertainty of the branching fraction of the $B^{0}\to \overline{D}^{0}K^{+}K^{-}$ normalisation channel. The last uncertainty in the $B_{s}^{0}$ result is due to the limited knowledge of the fragmentation fraction ratio, $f_{s}/f_{d}$. The significance for the $B_{s}^{0}$ and $B^{0}$ signals is larger than $10\,σ$. The ratio of the helicity amplitudes which governs the angular distribution of the $D_{s1}(2536)^{-}\to\overline{D}^{*}(2007)^{0}K^{-}$ decay is determined from the data. The ratio of the $S$- and $D$-wave amplitudes is found to be $1.11\pm0.15\pm 0.06$ and its phase $0.70\pm0.09\pm 0.04$ rad, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic.

Using a fully differential angular description of the final state particles, both the relative magnitude and phase information of the $Σ^{+}$ electromagnetic form factors in the timelike region are extracted. The relative phase between the electric and magnetic form factors is determined to be $\sinΔΦ$ = -0.67~$\pm$~0.29~(stat)~$\pm$~0.18~(syst) at $\sqrt{s}$ = 2.3960 GeV, $ΔΦ$ = 55$^{\circ}$~$\pm$~19$^{\circ}$~(stat) $\pm$~14$^{\circ}$~(syst) at $\sqrt{s}$ = 2.6454 GeV, and 78$^{\circ}$~$\pm$~22$^{\circ}$~(stat) $\pm$~9$^{\circ}$~(syst) at $\sqrt{s}$ = 2.9000 GeV. For the first time, the phase of the hyperon electromagnetic form factors is explored in a wide range of four-momentum transfer. The evolution of the phase along with four-momentum transfer is an important input for understanding its asymptotic behavior and the dynamics of baryons.

Furthermore, an $e^+e^-$ invariant-mass dependent transition form factor of $J/ψ\to e^+ e^-η(1405)$ is presented for the first time. The obtained result provides input for different theoretical models, and is valuable for the improved understanding the intrinsic structure of the $η(1405)$ meson.

The first observation and study of two new baryonic structures in the final state $Ξ_b^0π^+π^-$ and the confirmation of the $Ξ_b(6100)^-$ state in the $Ξ_b^-π^+π^-$ decay mode are reported using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9$\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$. In addition, the properties of the known $Ξ_b^{*0}$, $Ξ_b^{'-}$ and $Ξ_b^{*-}$ resonances are measured with improved precision. The new decay mode of the $Ξ_b^0$ baryon to the $Ξ_c^+π^-π^+π^-$ final state is observed and exploited for the first time in these measurements.

The branching fractions of $D_s^+ \to ημ^+ν_μ$ and $D_s^+ \to η^\primeμ^+ν_μ$ are determined to be $(2.235\pm0.051_{\rm stat}\pm0.052_{\rm syst})\%$ and $(0.801\pm0.055_{\rm stat}\pm0.028_{\rm syst})\%$, respectively, with precision improved by factors of 6.0 and 6.6 compared to the previous best measurements. Combined with the results for the decays $D_s^+ \to ηe^+ν_e$ and $D_s^+ \to η^\prime e^+ν_e$, the ratios of the decay widths are examined both inclusively and in several $\ell^+ν_\ell$ four-momentum transfer ranges. No evidence for lepton flavor universality violation is found within the current statistics. The products of the hadronic form factors $f_{+,0}^{η^{(\prime)}}(0)$ and the $c\to s$ Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cs}|$ are determined. The results based on the two-parameter series expansion are $f^η_{+,0}(0)|V_{cs}| = 0.452\pm0.010_{\rm stat}\pm0.007_{\rm syst}$ and $f^{η^{\prime}}_{+,0}(0)|V_{cs}| = 0.504\pm0.037_{\rm stat}\pm0.012_{\rm syst}$, which help to constrain present models on $f_{+,0}^{η^{(\prime)}}(0)$. The forward-backward asymmetries are determined to be $\langle A_{\rm FB}^η\rangle=-0.059\pm0.031_{\rm stat}\pm0.005_{\rm syst}$ and $\langle A_{\rm FB}^{η^\prime}\rangle=-0.064\pm0.079_{\rm stat}\pm0.006_{\rm syst}$ for the first time, which are consistent with the theoretical calculation.

This result is in agreement with the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model prediction of $n=3.5\pm 0.9$. In addition, the charmless decay $ψ(3770)\toφη'$ is searched for by fitting the measured cross sections, yet no significant signal is observed. The upper limit of ${\cal B}(ψ(3770)\toφη')$ at the 90\% confidence level is determined to be $2.3\times 10^{-5}$.

We observe three resonances: $\mathcal R(3760)$, $\mathcal R(3780)$, and $\mathcal R(3810)$ with significances of $8.1σ$, $13.7σ$, and $8.8σ$, respectively. The $\mathcal R(3810)$ state is observed for the first time, while the $\mathcal R(3760)$ and $\mathcal R(3780)$ states are observed for the first time in the nOCH cross sections. Two sets of resonance parameters describe the energy-dependent line shape of the cross sections well. In set I [set II], the $\mathcal R(3810)$ state has mass $(3805.7 \pm 1.1 \pm 2.7)$ [$(3805.7 \pm 1.1 \pm 2.7)$] MeV/$c^2$, total width $(11.6 \pm 2.9 \pm 1.9)$ [$(11.5 \pm 2.8 \pm 1.9)$] MeV, and an electronic width multiplied by the nOCH decay branching fraction of $(10.9\pm 3.8\pm 2.5)$ [$(11.0\pm 3.4\pm 2.5)$] eV. In addition, we measure the branching fractions ${\mathcal B}[{\mathcal R}(3760)$$\rightarrow$nOCH$]=(25.2 \pm 16.1 \pm 30.4)\% [(6.4 \pm 4.8 \pm 7.7)\%]$ and ${\mathcal B}[\mathcal R(3780)$$\rightarrow$nOCH$]=(12.3 \pm 6.6 \pm 8.3)\% [(10.4 \pm 4.8 \pm 7.0)\%]$ for the first time. The $\mathcal R(3760)$ state can be interpreted as an open-charm (OC) molecular state, but containing a simple four-quark state component. The $\mathcal R(3810)$ state can be interpreted as a hadrocharmonium state.

The decay $Ξ_b^-\toΛ_b^0π^-$ is observed using a proton-proton collision data sample collected at center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV with the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.5 fb$^{-1}$. This process is mediated by the $s\to u\bar{u}d$ quark-level transition, where the $b$ quark in the $Ξ_b^-$ baryon is a spectator in the decay. Averaging the results obtained using the two $Λ_b^0$ decay modes, $Λ_b^0\toΛ_c^+π^-$ and $Λ_b^0\toΛ_c^+π^-π^+π^-$, the relative production ratio is measured to be $(f_{Ξ_b^-}/f_{Λ_b^0}){\cal{B}}(Ξ_b^-\toΛ_b^0π^-)=(7.3\pm0.8\pm0.6)\times10^{-4}$. Here the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, and $f_{Ξ_b^-}(f_{Λ_b^0})$ is the fragmentation fraction for a $b$ quark into a $Ξ_b^-$ ($Λ_b^0$) baryon. Using an independent measurement of $f_{Ξ_b^-}/f_{Λ_b^0}$, the branching fraction ${\cal{B}}(Ξ_b^-\toΛ_b^0π^-)=(0.89\pm0.10\pm0.07\pm0.29)\%$ is obtained, where the last uncertainty is due to the assumed SU(3) flavor symmetry in the determination of $f_{Ξ_b^-}/f_{Λ_b^0}$.

We study the process $e^{+}e^{-}\toΛ_{c}^{+}\barΛ_c^{-}$ at twelve center-of-mass energies from $4.6119$ to $4.9509~\mathrm{GeV}$ using data samples collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The Born cross sections and effective form factors ($|G_{\mathrm{eff}}|$) are determined with unprecedented precision after combining the single and double-tag methods based on the decay process $Λ_{c}^{+}\to pK^{-}π^{+}$. Flat cross sections around $4.63~\mathrm{GeV}$ are obtained and no indication of the resonant structure $Y(4630)$, as reported by Belle, is found. In addition, no oscillatory behavior is discerned in the $|G_{\mathrm{eff}}|$ energy-dependence of $Λ_{c}^{+}$, in contrast to what is seen for the proton and neutron cases. Analyzing the cross section together with the polar-angle distribution of the $Λ_{c}^{+}$ baryon at each energy point, the moduli of electric and magnetic form factors ($|G_{E}|$ and $|G_{M}|$) are extracted and separated. For the first time, the energy-dependence of the form factor ratio $|G_{E}/G_{M}|$ is observed, which can be well described by an oscillatory function.

The absolute branching fraction is measured as ${\mathcal B}(D^+_s\to φμ^+ν_μ) = (2.25\pm 0.09 \pm 0.07) \times10^{-2}$, the most precise measurement to date. Combining with the world average of ${\mathcal B}(D^+_s\to φe^+ν_e)$, the ratio of the branching fractions obtained is$\frac{{\mathcal B}(D^+_s\to φμ^+ν_μ)}{{\mathcal B}(D^+_s\to φe^+ν_e)} = 0.94\pm0.08$, in agreement with lepton universality. By performing a partial wave analysis, the hadronic form factor ratios at $q^{2}=0$ are extracted, finding $r_{V}=\frac{V(0)}{A_{1}(0)}=1.58\pm0.17\pm0.02$ and $r_{2}=\frac{A_{2}(0)}{A_{1}(0)}=0.71\pm0.14\pm0.02$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. No significant $S$-wave contribution from $f_0(980)\to K^+K^-$ is found. The upper limit $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+\to f_0(980)μ^{+}ν_μ) \cdot{\mathcal B}(f_0(980)\to K^+K^-) < 5.45 \times 10^{-4}$ is set at 90\% confidence level.

Here the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones systematic. The isospin symmetry of the $Σ$ baryon in charmonium hadronic decay and the "$12\%$ rule" are tested, and no violation is found. The potential of using these channels as $Σ$ baryon sources for nuclear physics research is studied, and the momentum and angular distributions of these sources are provided.

Decays involving a $D^{*0}$ or $D^{*-}_s$ meson are analysed by reconstructing only the $D^0$ or $D^-_s$ decay products. This paper presents the first measurement of $\mathcal{A}^{CP}(B^- \rightarrow D^{*-}_s D^0)$ and $\mathcal{A}^{CP}(B^- \rightarrow D^{-}_s D^{*0})$, and the most precise measurement of the other five $CP$ asymmetries. There is no evidence of $CP$ violation in any of the analysed decays. Additionally, two ratios between branching fractions of selected decays are measured.

Correlations of same-sign charged particles are analysed using proton-lead collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.06 nb-1. Bose-Einstein correlations are observed in the form of an enhancement of pair production for same-sign charged pions with a small four-momentum difference squared. The dependence of the correlation radius and the intercept parameter on the reconstructed charged-particle multiplicity is investigated. The measured correlation radii scale linearly with the cube root of the reconstructed charged-particle multiplicity, being compatible with predictions of hydrodynamic models on the collision system evolution.

Precision measurements of the semileptonic decays $D_s^+ \to ηe^+ ν_e$ and $D_s^+ \to η^\prime e^+ ν_e$ are performed with 7.33\,fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV with the BESIII detector. The branching fractions obtained are $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+ \to ηe^{+} ν_e)$ = $(2.255\pm0.039_{\rm stat}\pm 0.051_{\rm syst})\%$ and $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+ \to η^{\prime} e^{+} ν_e)$ = $(0.810\pm0.038_{\rm stat}\pm 0.024_{\rm syst})\%$. Combining these results with the $\mathcal{B}(D^+\toηe^+ ν_e)$ and $\mathcal{B}(D^+\toη^\prime e^+ ν_e)$ obtained from previous BESIII measurements, the $η-η^\prime$ mixing angle in the quark flavor basis is determined to be $φ_{\rm P} = (40.0\pm2.0_{\rm stat}\pm0.6_{\rm syst})^\circ$. Moreover, from the fits to the partial decay rates of $D_s^+ \to ηe^+ ν_e$ and $D_s^+ \to η^\prime e^+ ν_e$, the products of the hadronic transition form factors $f_+^{η^{(\prime)}}(0)$ and the modulus of the $c\to s$ Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cs}|$ are determined by using different hadronic transition form factor parametrizations. Based on the two-parameter series expansion, the products $f^η_+(0)|V_{cs}| = 0.4519\pm0.0071_{\rm stat}\pm0.0065_{\rm syst}$ and $f^{η^\prime}_+(0)|V_{cs}| = 0.525\pm0.024_{\rm stat}\pm0.009_{\rm syst}$ are extracted. All results determined in this work supersede those measured in the previous BESIII analyses based on the 3.19 fb$^{-1}$ subsample of data at 4.178 GeV.

While there have recently been frequent discussions on whether it is responsible to deploy such models, there has been far less focus on the interaction paradigms and design approaches that the resulting interfaces should adopt, in order to achieve their goals more effectively. We aim to pose, ground, and attempt to answer HCI questions involved in this scope, by reporting on a mixed-methods user study conducted on a recent research chatbot. We find that abstract anthropomorphic representation for the agent has a significant effect on user's perception, that offering AI explainability may have an impact on feedback rates, and that two (diegetic and extradiegetic) levels of the chat experience should be intentionally designed. We offer design recommendations and areas of further focus for the research community.

Tools have been developed to model and simulate the effects of lunar landing vehicles on the lunar environment, mostly addressing the effects of regolith erosion by rocket plumes and the fate of the ejected lunar soil particles. The KSC Granular Mechanics and Regolith Operations Lab tools have now been expanded to address volatile contamination of the lunar surface (Stern, 1999). Landing nearby such a crater will result in the migration of significant exhaust plume gas into the cold trap of the crater, and will also create an unnatural atmosphere over the volatile reservoirs that are to be studied. Our calculations address: 1) the time for the plume-induced local atmosphere above cold traps to decay to normal levels, 2) the efficiency of gas migration into a permanently shadowed crater when the landing is outside it but nearby, and 3) reduction on contamination afforded by moving the landing site further from the crater or by topographically shielding the crater from the direct flux of a lander's ground jet. We also address plume volatiles adsorbed onto and driven inside soil ejecta particles from their residence in the high pressure stagnation region of the engine exhaust plume, and how their mechanical dispersal across the lunar surface contributes to the induced atmosphere. One additional question is whether the collection of soil ejecta along the base of a topographic feature will produce a measurable plume volatile release distinct from the background. We mostly address item 2). Item 3) is obvious from our results excepting that the removal distances may be large, but changes to landing strategy can improve the situation.

We present BlenderBot 3x, an update on the conversational model BlenderBot 3, which is now trained using organic conversation and feedback data from participating users of the system in order to improve both its skills and safety. We are publicly releasing the participating de-identified interaction data for use by the research community, in order to spur further progress. Training models with organic data is challenging because interactions with people "in the wild" include both high quality conversations and feedback, as well as adversarial and toxic behavior. We study techniques that enable learning from helpful teachers while avoiding learning from people who are trying to trick the model into unhelpful or toxic responses. BlenderBot 3x is both preferred in conversation to BlenderBot 3, and is shown to produce safer responses in challenging situations. While our current models are still far from perfect, we believe further improvement can be achieved by continued use of the techniques explored in this work.

The \textit{Gaia}-Sausage/Enceladus (GS/E) structure is an accretion remnant which comprises a large fraction of the Milky Way's stellar halo. We study GS/E using high-purity samples of kinematically selected stars from APOGEE DR16 and \textit{Gaia}. Employing a novel framework to account for kinematic selection biases using distribution functions, we fit density profiles to these GS/E samples and measure their masses. We find that GS/E has a shallow density profile in the inner Galaxy, with a break between 15--25~kpc beyond which the profile steepens. We also find that GS/E is triaxial, with axis ratios 1:0.55:0.45 (nearly prolate), and the major axis is oriented about 80~degrees from the Sun--Galactic centre line and 16 degrees above the plane. We measure a stellar mass for GS/E of $1.45\,^{+0.92}_{-0.51}\,\mathrm{(stat.)}\,^{+0.13}_{-0.37} \mathrm{(sys.)}\ \times10^{8}$~\Msun. Our mass estimate is lower than others in the literature, a finding we attribute to the excellent purity of the samples we work with. We also fit a density profile to the entire Milky Way stellar halo, finding a mass in the range of $6.7-8.4 \times 10^{8}$~\Msun, and implying that GS/E could make up as little as 15-25~per~cent of the mass of the Milky Way stellar halo. Our lower stellar mass combined with standard stellar-mass-to-halo mass relations implies that GS/E constituted a minor 1:8 mass-ratio merger at the time of its accretion.

Tests of lepton flavor universality using $Λ_c^+\rightarrow Λ\ell^+ν_{\ell}$ ($\ell=e, μ$) decays are reported for the first time, based on measurements of the differential decay rates and the forward-backward asymmetries in separate four-momentum transfer regions. The results are compatible with Standard Model predictions. Furthermore, we improve the determination of the form-factor parameters in $Λ_c^+\rightarrow Λ\ell^+ν_{\ell}$ decays, which provide stringent tests and calibration for lattice quantum chromodynamics (LQCD) calculations.

The Apollo 12 lunar module (LM) landing near the Surveyor III spacecraft at the end of 1969 has remained the primary experimental verification of the predicted physics of plume ejecta effects from a rocket engine interacting with the surface of the moon. This was made possible by the return of the Surveyor III camera housing by the Apollo 12 astronauts, allowing detailed analysis of the composition of dust deposited by the LM plume. It was soon realized after the initial analysis of the camera housing that the LM plume tended to remove more dust than it had deposited. In the present study, coupons from the camera housing have been reexamined. In addition, plume effects recorded in landing videos from each Apollo mission have been studied for possible clues. Several likely scenarios are proposed to explain the Surveyor III dust observations. These include electrostatic levitation of the dust from the surface of the Moon as a result of periodic passing of the day-night terminator; dust blown by the Apollo 12 LM flyby while on its descent trajectory; dust ejected from the lunar surface due to gas forced into the soil by the Surveyor III rocket nozzle, based on Darcy's law; and mechanical movement of dust during the Surveyor landing. Even though an absolute answer may not be possible based on available data and theory, various computational models are employed to estimate the feasibility of each of these proposed mechanisms. Scenarios are then discussed which combine multiple mechanisms to produce results consistent with observations.

A mathematical model and software implementation developed to predict trajectories of single lunar dust particles acted on by a high velocity gas flow is discussed. The model uses output from a computation fluid dynamics (CFD) or direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) simulation of a rocket nozzle hot gas jet. The gas density, velocity vector field, and temperature predicted by the CFD/DSMC simulations, provide the data necessary to compute the forces and accelerations acting on a single particle of regolith. All calculations of trajectory assume that the duration of particle flight is much shorter than the change in gas properties, i.e., the particle trajectory calculations take into account the spatial variation of the gas jet, but not the temporal variation. This is a reasonable first-order assumption. Final results are compared to photogrammetry derived estimates of dust angles form Apollo landing videos.

The measurement is performed for $J/ψ$ ($\mathitΥ$) mesons with a transverse momentum $p_{\mathrm{T}}<10\,(30)\,\mathrm{GeV}/c$ in the rapidity range $2.0<y<4.5$. In this kinematic range, the cross-section of the associated production of prompt $J/ψ$ and $\mathitΥ(1S)$ mesons is measured to be $133 \pm 22 \pm 7 \pm 3 \, \mathrm{pb}$, with a significance of $7.9\,σ$, and that of prompt $J/ψ$ and $\mathitΥ(2S)$ mesons to be $76\pm 21 \pm 4 \pm 7 \, \mathrm{pb}$, with a significance of $4.9\,σ$. The first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third due to uncertainties on the used branching fractions. This is the first observation of the associated production of $J/ψ$ and $\mathitΥ(1S)$ in proton-proton collisions. Differential cross-sections are measured as functions of variables that are sensitive to kinematic correlations between the $J/ψ$ and $\mathitΥ(1S)$ mesons. The effective cross-sections of the associated production of prompt $J/ψ$ and $\mathitΥ$ mesons are obtained and found to be compatible with measurements using other particle productions.

In addition, the production rate of $Ω^-_b$ baryons relative to that of $Ξ^-_b$ baryons is measured for the first time in $pp$ collisions, using an LHCb dataset collected at a center-of-mass energy of $13 \, \text{TeV}$ and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $6\,\text{fb}^{-1}$. Reconstructing beauty baryons in the kinematic region $2 < η< 6$ and $p_T < 20\,\text{GeV}/c$ with their decays to a $J/ψ$ meson and a hyperon, the ratio \begin{equation} \frac{f_{Ω^-_b}}{f_{Ξ^-_b}}\times\frac{\mathcal{B}(Ω^-_b \to J/ψΩ^-)}{\mathcal{B}(Ξ^-_b \to J/ψΞ^-)} = 0.120 \pm 0.008 \text{(stat)} \pm 0.008 \text{(syst)}, \end{equation} is obtained, where $f_{Ω^-_b}$ and $f_{Ξ^-_b}$ are the fragmentation fractions of $b$ quarks into $Ω^-_b$ and $Ξ^-_b$ baryons, respectively, and $\mathcal{B}$ represents the branching fractions of their respective decays.

We present a novel unbinned method to combine $B^{\pm} \to DK^{\pm}$ and charm threshold data for the amplitude-model unbiased measurement of the CKM angle gamma in cases where the D meson decays to a three-body final state. The new unbinned approach avoids any kind of integration over the D Dalitz plot, to make optimal use the available information. We verify the method with simulated signal data where the D decays to $K_S π^+ π^-$. Using realistic sample sizes, we find that the new method reaches the statistical precision on gamma of an unbinned model-dependent fit, i.e. as good as possible and better than the widely used model-independent binned approach, without suffering from biases induced by a mis-modeled D decay amplitude.

The LHCb upgrade represents a major change of the experiment. The detectors have been almost completely renewed to allow running at an instantaneous luminosity five times larger than that of the previous running periods. Readout of all detectors into an all-software trigger is central to the new design, facilitating the reconstruction of events at the maximum LHC interaction rate, and their selection in real time. The experiment's tracking system has been completely upgraded with a new pixel vertex detector, a silicon tracker upstream of the dipole magnet and three scintillating fibre tracking stations downstream of the magnet. The whole photon detection system of the RICH detectors has been renewed and the readout electronics of the calorimeter and muon systems have been fully overhauled. The first stage of the all-software trigger is implemented on a GPU farm. The output of the trigger provides a combination of totally reconstructed physics objects, such as tracks and vertices, ready for final analysis, and of entire events which need further offline reprocessing. This scheme required a complete revision of the computing model and rewriting of the experiment's software.

From these measurements, precise $CP$ symmetry tests in $Ξ^0$ decay are performed, and $A^Ξ_{CP} = (-5.4 \pm 6.5 \pm 3.1) \times 10^{-3}$ and $Δφ^Ξ_{CP} = (-0.1 \pm 6.9 \pm 0.9) \times 10^{-3}$~rad are consistent with $CP$ conservation. The sequential decay also enables a separation of weak and strong phase differences, which are found for the first time to be $ξ_{P}-ξ_{S} = (0.0 \pm 1.7 \pm 0.2) \times 10^{-2}$~rad and $δ_{P}-δ_{S} = (-1.3 \pm 1.7 \pm 0.4)\times 10^{-2}$~rad, respectively. In addition, we measure the $Λ$ decay parameters and test $CP$ symmetry in $Λ$ decays.

The branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to D^{*-}τ^+ν_τ)$ is measured relative to that of the normalization mode $B^0 \to D^{*-}π^+π^-π^+$ using hadronic $τ^+ \to π^+π^-π^+(π^0)\overlineν_τ$ decays in proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2 fb$^{-1}$. The measured ratio is $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to D^{*-}τ^+ν_τ)/\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to D^{*-}π^+π^-π^+) = 1.79 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.11$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is related to systematic effects. Using established branching fractions for the $B^0 \to D^{*-}π^+π^-π^+$ and $B^0 \to D^{*-}μ^+ν_μ$ modes, the lepton universality test, $\mathcal{R}(D^{*-}) \equiv \mathcal{B}(B^0 \to D^{*-}τ^+ν_τ)/\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to D^{*-}μ^+ν_μ)$ is calculated, $$ \mathcal{R}(D^{*-}) = 0.260 \pm 0.015 \pm 0.016 \pm 0.012\, , $$ where the third uncertainty is due to the uncertainties on the external branching fractions. This result is consistent with the Standard Model prediction and with previous measurements.

New precise measurements of the $η_c$ and $η_c(2S)$ resonance parameters are performed and branching fraction measurements are obtained for $B^+$ decays to $η_c$, $J/ψ$, $η_c(2S)$ and $χ_{c1}$ resonances. In particular, the first observation and branching fraction measurement of $B^+ \to χ_{c0} K^0 π^+$ is reported as well as first measurements of the $B^+\to K^0K^+K^-π^+$ and $B^+\to K^0K^+K^+π^-$ branching fractions. Dalitz plot analyses of $η_c \to K^0_SKπ$ and $η_c(2S) \to K^0_SKπ$ decays are performed. A new measurement of the amplitude and phase of the $K π$ $S$-wave as functions of the $K π$ mass is performed, together with measurements of the $K^*_0(1430)$, $K^*_0(1950)$ and $a_0(1700)$ parameters. Finally, the branching fractions of $χ_{c1}$ decays to $K^*$ resonances are also measured.

Abstract:
The quantum entangled $J/ψ\to Σ^{+}\barΣ^{-}$ pairs from $(1.0087\pm0.0044)\times10^{10}$ $J/ψ$ events taken by the BESIII detector are used to study the non-leptonic two-body weak decays $Σ^{+} \to n π^{+}$ and $\barΣ^{-} \to \bar{n} π^{-}$. The $C\!P$-odd weak decay parameters of the decays $Σ^{+} \to n π^{+}$ ($α_{+}$) and $\barΣ^{-} \to \bar{n} π^{-}$ ($\barα_{-}$) are determined to be…

The $C\!P$-odd weak decay parameters of the decays $Σ^{+} \to n π^{+}$ ($α_{+}$) and $\barΣ^{-} \to \bar{n} π^{-}$ ($\barα_{-}$) are determined to be $-0.0565\pm0.0047_{\rm stat}\pm0.0022_{\rm syst}$ and $0.0481\pm0.0031_{\rm
stat}\pm0.0019_{\rm syst}$, respectively. The decay parameter $\barα_{-}$ is measured for the first time, and the accuracy of $α_{+}$ is improved by a factor of four compared to the previous results. The simultaneously determined decay parameters allow the first precision $C\!P$ symmetry test for any hyperon decay with a neutron in the final state with the measurement of $A_{C\!P}=(α_{+}+\barα_{-})/(α_{+}-\barα_{-})=-0.080\pm0.052_{\rm
stat}\pm0.028_{\rm syst}$. Assuming $C\!P$ conservation, the average decay parameter is determined as $\left< α_{+}\right>=(α_{+}- \barα_{-})/2 = -0.0506\pm0.0026_{\rm stat}\pm0.0019_{\rm syst}$, while the ratios $α_{+}/α_{0}$ and $\barα_{-}/\barα_{0}$ are $-0.0490\pm0.0032_{\rm stat}\pm0.0021_{\rm syst}$ and $-0.0571\pm0.0053_{\rm stat}\pm0.0032_{\rm syst}$, where $α_{0}$ and $\barα_{0}$ are the decay parameters of the decays $Σ^{+} \to p π^{0}$ and $\barΣ^{-} \to \bar{p} π^{0}$, respectively.
