Data-driven modeling of dynamical systems often faces numerous data-related challenges. A fundamental requirement is the existence of a unique set of parameters for a chosen model structure, an issue commonly referred to as identifiability. Although this problem is well studied for ordinary differential equations (ODEs), few studies have focused on the more general class of systems described by differential-algebraic equations (DAEs). Examples of DAEs include dynamical systems with algebraic equations representing conservation laws or approximating fast dynamics. This work introduces a novel identifiability test for models characterized by nonlinear DAEs. Unlike previous approaches, our test only requires prior knowledge of the system equations and does not need nonlinear transformation, index reduction, or numerical integration of the DAEs. We employed our identifiability analysis across a diverse range of DAE models, illustrating how system identifiability depends on the choices of sensors, experimental conditions, and model structures. Given the added challenges involved in identifying DAEs when compared to ODEs, we anticipate that our findings will have broad applicability and contribute significantly to the development and validation of data-driven methods for DAEs and other structure-preserving models.

Stochastic infinite-dimensional port-Hamiltonian systems (SPHSs) with multiplicative Gaussian white noise are considered. In this article we extend the notion of Dirac structure for deterministic distributed parameter port-Hamiltonian systems to a stochastic ones by adding some additional stochastic ports. Using the Stratonovich formalism of the stochastic integral, the proposed extended interconnection of ports for SPHSs is proved to still form a Dirac structure. This constitutes our main contribution. We then deduce that the interconnection between (stochastic) Dirac structures is again a (stochastic) Dirac structure under some assumptions. These interconnection results are applied on a system composed of a stochastic vibrating string actuated at the boundary by a mass-spring system with external input and output. This work is motivated by the problem of boundary control of SPHSs and will serve as a foundation to the development of stabilizing methods.

Stochastic port-Hamiltonian systems on infinite-dimensional spaces governed by Itô stochastic differential equations (SDEs) are introduced and some properties of this new class of systems are studied. They are an extension of stochastic port-Hamiltonian systems defined on a finite-dimensional state space. The concept of well-posedness in the sense of Weiss and Salamon is generalized to the stochastic context. Under this extended definition, stochastic port-Hamiltonian systems are shown to be well-posed. The theory is illustrated on an example of a vibrating string subject to a Hilbert space-valued Gaussian white noise process.
