We present the TESS and BVRcIc light curves solution of four low mass-ratio contact binary systems TIC 159102550), V1068 Her, MW Pav and TIC 321576458. Except MW Pav, all three systems have been studied for the first time. The period analysis of TIC 159102550 show anti-correlation between primary and secondary minima and no long term variation is reported. The systems V1068 Her and MW Pav show increasing orbital period trends. Data for TIC 321576458 is too few to determine any periodic variations. The light curve analysis using Wilson-Divinney model shows that systems are low mass-ratio contact binaries. Out of four targets, two systems TIC 159102550 and V1068 Her, are shallow contact binary systems with fill-out factor of 20% and 14%, respectively. The two contact binaries MW Pav and TIC 321576458 are in deep contact state with fill-out factor 63% and 61%, respectively. V1068 Her shows EB-type light curve, however the temperature difference between the primary secondary component is only 17K, which indicates that system is in thermal contact. To understand the evolutionary status of these systems, the components are plotted on the mass-luminosity diagram. The primary companions are in the ZAMS zone while the secondary components of all the systems are away from TAMS which indicates that secondary is more evolved than the primary components. V1068 Her and MW Pav are expected to evolve into a single rapidly rotating star provided that they meet the well-know Hut's criterion. Through statistical investigation of more than hundred low mass-ratio contact binary systems including our targets, we have found that all of the low mass-ratio contact binaries have undergone the mass-ratio inversion process. Based on our sample, the relationship between mass ratio and spin and orbital angular momentum ratio has been updated and proposed a new value of qmin = 0.0388 for Darwin's stability.

The short-period AP Dor eclipsing binary's first in-depth and multiband photometric solutions are presented. We made use of our eight nights of ground-based at a southern hemisphere observatory, and twelve sectors of TESS observations. We extracted eight and 1322 minima from our observations and TESS, respectively. We suggested a new linear ephemeris based on the trend of orbital period variations using the Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) approach. The PHysics Of Eclipsing BinariEs (PHOEBE) Python code and the MCMC approach were used for the light curve analysis. This system did not require a starspot for the light curve solutions. We calculated the absolute parameters of the system using Gaia DR3 parallax method. The orbital angular momentum (J_0) of the AP Dor indicates that this system is located in a region of contact binaries. According to our results, this system is an overcontact binary system with a mass ratio of 0.584, a fillout factor of 48\%, and an inclination of 53deg. The positions of AP Dor stars on the Hertzsprung-Russell (HR) diagram are represented.

V606 Centauri (V606 Cen) is an early B-type close binary with an orbital period of 1.4950935\,d and the complete light curves are very difficult to be observed on the ground. By analyzing the unbroken and continuous light curve obtained by TESS, we found that it is a marginal contact binary with a very low fill-out factor of about 2\%. The O-C diagram of V606 Cen is constructed for the first time based on the 118.8-years eclipse times. It is found that the O-C diagram shows a downward parabolic change together with a cyclic oscillation with an amplitude of 0.0544\, d and a period of 88.8\, yr. The downward parabolic variation reveals a linear period decrease at a rate of $dP/dt = -2.06 \times{10^{-7}} d \cdot yr^{-1}$ that can be explained by the mass transfer from the more massive component to the less massive one. Both the marginal contact configuration and the continuous period decrease suggest that V606 Cen is a newly formed contact binary via Case A mass transfer. Meanwhile, the cyclic change in the O-C diagram can be explained by the Light-Travel Time Effect via the presence of a third body. The lowest mass of the tertiary companion is determined as M$_{3}$ = 4.51($\pm0.38$)M$_{\odot}$ that is orbiting around the central eclipsing binary in a nearly circular orbit (e=0.32). All the results indicate that V606 Cen is a newly formed massive contact binary and just reaches the contact configuration during the mass transfer in a hierarchical triple system.

New CCD photometric light curves of short period (P=0.285d) eclipsing binary RW Dor are presented. The observations performed with the PROMPT-8 robotic telescope at CTIO in Chile from March 2015 to March 2017. The other eclipse timings were obtained from the 2.15-m JS telescope at CASLEO, San Juan, Argentina in December 2011. By light-curve analysis, it is found that RW Dor is a W-type shallow contact binary with a fill-out factor $f \sim 11\%$ and high mass ratio $q \sim 1.587$ (1/q = 0.63), where the hotter component is the less massive one ($M_1 \sim 0.52M_{\odot}$ and $M_2 \sim 0.82M_{\odot}$). For orbital period investigation, the new fifteen eclipse times and those in previous published were compiled. Based on $O-C$ analysis with very weak evidence suggests that a long-term period decrease with a rate of $\mathrm{d}P/\mathrm{d}t = -9.61\times10^{-9}$ d $\textrm{yr}^{-1}$ is superimposed on a cyclic variation ($A_3$ = 0.0054 days and $P_3$ = 49.9 yrs). The long-term period decrease can be interpreted as mass transfer from the more massive component to the less massive one or combine with the angular momentum loss (AML) via magnetic braking. In addition, with the marginal contact phase, high mass ratio (1/q $>$ 0.4) and the long-term period decrease, all suggest that RW Dor is a newly formed contact binary via a Case A mass transfer and it will evolve into a deeper normal contact binary. If the cyclic change is correct, the light-travel time effect via the presence of a cool third body will be more plausible to explain for this.

The photometric results are as follows: a) 1SWASP J030749.87-365201.7, q=0.439\pm0.003, f=0.0\pm3.6%; b) 1SWASP J213252.93-441822.6, q=0.560\pm0.003, f=14.2\pm1.9%; c) 1SWASP J200059.78+054408.9, q=0.436\pm0.008, f=58.4\pm1.8%. The light curves show O'Connell effects, which can be modeled by assumed cool spots. The cool spots models are strongly supported by the night-to-night variations in the I-band light curves of 1SWASP J030749.87-365201.7. For a comparative study, we collected the whole set of 28 well-studied USPCBs with P < 0.24 day. Thus, we found that most of them (17 of 28) are in shallow contact (i.e. fill-out factors f<20%). Only 4 USPCBs have deep fill-out factors (i.e. f>50%). Generally, contact binaries with deep fill-out factors are going to merge, but it is believed that USPCBs have just evolved to a contact phase. Hence, the deep USPCB 1SWASP J200059.78+054408.9 seems to be a contradiction, making it very interesting. Particularly, 1SWASP J030749.87-365201.7 is a zero contact binary within thermal equilibrium, implying that it should be a turn-off sample as predicted by the thermal relaxation oscillation (TRO) theory.

This work reports new photometric results of eclipsing cataclysmic variable V617 Sagittarii (V617 Sgr). We analyzed the orbital period change of V617 Sgr, by employing three new CCD eclipse timings since 2010 along with all the available data from the literature. It was found that the orbital period of V617 Sgr undergoes an obvious long-term increase, which confirms the result revealed by Steiner et al. (2006). The rate of orbital period increase was calculated to be ${\dot{P}}$ = +2.14(0.05) $\times$ 10$^{-7}$ day/year. This suggests the lifetime of the secondary star will attain to the end in a timescale of 0.97 $\times$ 10$^6$ years faster than that predicted previously. In particular, a cyclic variation with a period of 4.5 year and an amplitude of 2.3 minutes may present in the O-C diagram. Dominated by the wind-accretion mechanism, high mass transfer from the low mass secondary to the white dwarf is expected to sustain in the V Sge-type star V617 Sgr during its long-term evolution. The mass transfer rate $|\dot{M}_{tr}|$ was estimated to be in the range of about 2.2 $\times$ 10$^{-7}$ to 5.2 $\times$ 10$^{-7}$ M$_{\odot}$ yr$^{-1}$. Accordingly, the already massive ($\geq$ 1.2 M$_{\odot}$) white dwarf primary will process stable nuclear burning, accrete a fraction of mass from its companion to reach the standard Chandrasekhar mass limit ($\simeq$ 1.38 M$_{\odot}$), and ultimately produce a type Ia supernova (SN Ia) within about 4 $\sim$ 8 $\times$ 10$^{5}$ years or earlier.

The cyclic change was analyzed for the light-travel time effect that arises from the gravitational influence of a third companion. The mass of the third body was determined to be M_3*sin i' = 4.2(+-0.4) M_{Jup} suggesting that it is a circumbinary giant planet when its orbital inclination is larger than 17.6 degree. The orbital separation of the circumbinary planet from the central eclipsing binary is about 5.3(+-0.6)AU. The period increase is opposite to the changes caused by angular momentum loss via magnetic braking or/and gravitational radiation, nor can it be explained by the mass transfer between both components because of its detached configuration. These indicate that the observed upward parabolic change is only a part of a long-period (longer than 26.3 years) cyclic variation, which may reveal the presence of another giant circumbinary planet in a wide orbit.

We report here the tentative discovery of a Jovian planet in orbit around the rapidly pulsating subdwarf B-type (sdB-type) eclipsing binary NY Vir. By using new determined eclipse times together with those collected from the literature, we detect that the observed-calculated (O-C) curve of NY Vir shows a small-amplitude cyclic variation with a period of 7.9\,years and a semiamplitude of 6.1\,s, while it undergoes a downward parabolic change (revealing a period decrease at a rate of $\dot{P}=-9.2\times{10^{-12}}$). The periodic variation was analyzed for the light-travel time effect via the presence of a third body. The mass of the tertiary companion was determined to be $M_3\sin{i^{\prime}}=2.3(\pm0.3)$\,$M_{Jupiter}$ when a total mass of 0.60\,$M_{\odot}$ for NY Vir is adopted. This suggests that it is most probably a giant circumbinary planet orbiting NY Vir at a distance of about 3.3 astronomical units (AU). Since the rate of period decrease can not be explained by true angular momentum loss caused by gravitational radiation or/and magnetic braking, the observed downward parabolic change in the O-C diagram may be only a part of a long-period (longer than 15 years) cyclic variation, which may reveal the presence of another Jovian planet ($\sim2.5$$M_{Jupiter}$) in the system.

We investigate the distribution of the gas (ionized, neutral atomic and molecular), and interstellar dust in the complex star forming region NGC6357 with the goal of studying the interplay between the massive stars in the open cluster Pis24 and the surrounding interstellar matter. Our study of the distribution of the ionized gas is based on narrow-band Hhalfa, [SII], and [OIII] images obtained with the Curtis-Schmidt Camera at CTIO, Chile, and on radio continuum observations at 1465 MHz taken with the VLA with a synthesized beam of 40 arcsec. The distribution of the molecular gas is analyzed using 12CO(1-0) data obtained with the Nanten radiotelescope, Chile (angular resolution = 2.7 arcmin). The interstellar dust distribution was studied using mid-infrared data from the GLIMPSE survey and far-infrared observations from IRAS. NGC6357 consists of a large ionized shell and a number of smaller optical nebulosities. The optical, radio continuum, and near- and mid-IR images delineate the distributions of the ionized gas and interstellar dust in the HII regions and in previously unknown wind blown bubbles linked to the massive stars in Pis24 revealing surrounding photodissociation regions. The CO line observations allowed us to identify the molecular counterparts of the ionized structures in the complex and to confirm the presence of photodissociation regions. The action of the WR star HD157504 on the surrounding gas was also investigated. The molecular mass in the complex is estimated to be (4+/-2)X10^5 Mo. Mean electron densities derived from the radio data suggest electron densities > 200 cm^-3, indicating that NGC6357 is a complex formed in a region of high ambient density. The known massive stars in Pis24 and a number of newly inferred massive stars are mainly responsible for the excitation and photodissociation of the parental molecular cloud.

However, the conservative mass transfer from the secondary to the massive white dwarf cannot explain the observed orbital period increases for both CVs, which are regarded as part of modulations at longer periods. Moreover, the O-C diagram of UZ Fornacis shows a possible cyclical change with a period of $\sim23.4(\pm5.1)yr$. For explaining the observed cyclical period changes in UZ Fornacis, both mechanisms of magnetic activity cycles in the late-type secondary and the light travel-time effect are regarded as two probable causes. Not only does the modulation period 23.4yr obey the empirical correlation derived by \cite{lan99}, but also the estimated fractional period change $ΔP/P\sim7.3\times10^{-7}$ displays a behavior similar to that of the CVs below the period gap. On the other hand, a calculation for the light travel-time effect implies that the tertiary component in UZ Fornacis may be a brown dwarf with a high confidence level, when the orbital inclination of the third body is larger than $16^{\circ}$.

The two CCD photometries of the intermediate polar TV Columbae are made for obtaining the two updated eclipse timings with high precision. There is an interval time \sim 17yr since the last mid-eclipse time observed in 1991. Thus, the new mid-eclipse times can offer an opportunity to check the previous orbital ephemerides. A calculation indicates that the orbital ephemeris derived by Augusteijn et al. (1994) should be corrected. Based on the proper linear ephemeris (Hellier, 1993), the new orbital period analysis suggests a cyclical period variation in the O-C diagram of TV Columbae. Using Applegate's mechanism to explain the periodic oscillation in O-C diagram, the required energy is larger than that a M0-type star can afford over a complete variation period \sim 31.0(\pm 3.0)yr. Thus, the light travel-time effect indicates that the tertiary component in TV Columbae may be a dwarf with a low mass, which is near the mass lower limit \sim 0.08Msun as long as the inclination of the third body high enough.

The survey will take 1929 hours of observations with the 4-metre VISTA telescope during five years (2010-2014), covering ~10^9 point sources across an area of 520 deg^2, including 33 known globular clusters and ~350 open clusters. The final product will be a deep near-IR atlas in five passbands (0.9-2.5 microns) and a catalogue of more than 10^6 variable point sources. Unlike single-epoch surveys that, in most cases, only produce 2-D maps, the VVV variable star survey will enable the construction of a 3-D map of the surveyed region using well-understood distance indicators such as RR Lyrae stars, and Cepheids. It will yield important information on the ages of the populations. The observations will be combined with data from MACHO, OGLE, EROS, VST, Spitzer, HST, Chandra, INTEGRAL, WISE, Fermi LAT, XMM-Newton, GAIA and ALMA for a complete understanding of the variable sources in the inner Milky Way. This public survey will provide data available to the whole community and therefore will enable further studies of the history of the Milky Way, its globular cluster evolution, and the population census of the Galactic Bulge and center, as well as the investigations of the star forming regions in the disk. The combined variable star catalogues will have important implications for theoretical investigations of pulsation properties of stars.

We present the results of a spectroscopic monitoring campaign devoted to three O-type stars in the Carina nebula. We derive the full SB2 orbital solution of the binary system Tr 16-112, an exceptional dissymmetrical system consisting of an O5.5-6V((f$^+$?p)) primary and a B2V-III secondary. We also report on low-amplitude brightness variations in Tr 16-112 that are likely due to the ellipsoidal shape of the O5.5-6 primary revolving in an eccentric orbit around the system's centre of mass. We detect for the first time a clear SB2 binary signature in the spectrum of HD 93343 (O8 + O8), although our data are not sufficient to establish an orbital solution. This system also displays low amplitude photometric modulations. On the other hand, no indication of multiplicity is found in the optical spectra of HD 93250. Finally, we discuss the general properties of multiple massive stars in the Carina OB1 association.

Abstract:
From the radial velocities of the N IV 4058 and He II 4686 emission lines, and the N V 4604-20 absorption lines, determined in digital spectra, we report the discovery that the X-ray bright emission line star Wack 2134 (= WR 21a) is a spectroscopic binary system with an orbital period of $31.673\pm0.002$ days. With this period, the N IV and He II emission and N V absorption lines, which originate in the atmosphere of the primary component, define a rather eccentric binary orbit (e=0.64$\pm$0.03). The radial velocity variations of the N V absorptions have a lower amplitude than those of the He II emission. Such a behaviour of the emission line radial velocities could be due to distortions produced by a superimposed absorption component from the companion. High resolution echelle spectra observed during the quadrature phases of the binary show H and He II absorptions of both components with a radial velocity difference of about 541 km/s. From this difference, we infer quite high values of the minimum masses, of about 87Mo and 53Mo for the primary and secondary components, respectively, if the radial velocity variations of the He II emission represent the true orbit of the primary. No He I absorption lines are observed in our spectra. Thus, the secondary component in the Wack2134 binary system appears to be an early O type star. From the presence of H, He II and N V absorptions, and N IV and C IV emissions, in the spectrum of the primary component, it most clearly resembles those of Of/WNLha type stars.

ASAS photometric observations of LS 1135, an O-type SB1 binary system with an orbital period of 2.7 days, show that the system is also eclipsing. This prompted us to re-examine the spectra used in the previously published spectroscopic orbit. Our new analysis of the spectra obtained near quadratures, reveal the presence of faint lines of the secondary component. We present for the first time a double-lined radial velocity orbit and values of physical parameters of this binary system. These values were obtained by analyzing ASAS photometry jointly with the radial velocities of both components performing a numerical model of this binary based on the Wilson-Devinney method. We obtained an orbital inclination i ~ 68.5 deg. With this value of the inclination we deduced masses M1 ~ 30 +/- 1 Mo and M2 ~ 9 +/- 1 Mo; and radii R1 ~ 12 +/- 1 Ro and R2 ~ 5 +/- 1 Ro for primary and secondary components, respectively. Both components are well inside their respective Roche lobes. Fixing the Teff of the primary to the value corresponding to its spectral type (O6.5V), the Teff obtained for the secondary component corresponds approximately to a spectral type of B1V. The mass ratio M2/M1 ~ 0.3 is among the lowest known values for spectroscopic binaries with O-type components.

We report the discovery of a new O-type double-lined spectroscopic binary with a short orbital period of 1.4 days. We find the primary component of this binary, FO 15, to have an approximate spectral type O5.5Vz, i.e. a Zero-Age-Main-Sequence star. The secondary appears to be of spectral type O9.5V. We have performed a numerical model fit to the public ASAS photometry, which shows that FO 15 is also an eclipsing binary. We find an orbital inclination of ~ 80 deg. From a simultaneous light-curve and radial velocity solution we find the masses and radii of the two components to be 30 +/- 1 and 16 +/- 1 solar masses and 7.5 +/- 0.5 and 5.3 +/- 0.5 solar radii. These radii, and hence also the luminosities, are smaller than those of normal O-type stars, but similar to recently born ZAMS O-type stars. The absolute magnitudes derived from our analysis locate FO 15 at the same distance as Eta Carinae. From Chandra and XMM X-ray images we also find that there are two close X-ray sources, one coincident with FO 15 and another one without optical counterpart. This latter seems to be a highly variable source, presumably due to a pre-main-sequence stellar neighbour of FO 15.

Abstract:
In 2003.5 Eta Carinae was expected to undergo an X-ray eclipse (Damineli et al., 2000). In the framework of an international campaign to obtain multi-wavelength observations of this event, we have obtained optical CCD images of Eta Carinae. Here, we present the B, V, R, I, data of Eta Car obtained before and during the X-ray eclipse.
