Visualization for Epidemiological Modelling: Challenges, Solutions, Reflections & Recommendations
Abstract: We report on an ongoing collaboration between epidemiological modellers and visualization researchers by documenting and reflecting upon knowledge constructs -- a series of ideas, approaches and methods taken from existing visualization research and practice -- deployed and developed to support modelling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Structured independent commentary on these efforts is synthesized th… ▽ More

FAIR Data Pipeline: provenance-driven data management for traceable scientific workflows
Abstract: Modern epidemiological analyses to understand and combat the spread of disease depend critically on access to, and use of, data. Rapidly evolving data, such as data streams changing during a disease outbreak, are particularly challenging. Data management is further complicated by data being imprecisely identified when used. Public trust in policy decisions resulting from such analyses is easily da… ▽ More

The Bethe-Salpeter equation and the low energy theorems for $πN$ scattering
Abstract: The Bethe-Salpeter (BS) amplitude for $πN$ scattering is evaluated at the off mass shell points corresponding to the Low Energy Theorems (LET) based on PCAC and current algebra. The results suggest a way of maintaining consistency between BS equation and LET.

Unitarity and the Bethe-Salpeter Equation
Abstract: We investigate the relation between different three-dimensional reductions of the Bethe-Salpeter equation and the analytic structure of the resultant amplitudes in the energy plane. This correlation is studied for both the $φ^2σ$ interaction Lagrangian and the $πN$ system with $s$-, $u$-, and $t$-channel pole diagrams as driving terms. We observe that the equal-time equation, which includes some… ▽ More

Covariant meson-exchange model of the anti-kaon nucleon interaction
Abstract: A covariant meson-exchange model of the anti-kaon nucleon interaction within the framework of the Bethe-Salpeter equation is presented. With just one free parameter we are able to get a good description of the available experimental data from below threshold to 300 MeV laboratory momentum.

Pion-nucleon scattering in a Bethe-Salpeter approach
Abstract: A covariant model of elastic pion-nucleon scattering based on the Bethe-Salpeter equation is presented. We obtain a good description of the S- and P-wave phase shifts up to 360 MeV laboratory energy. We also compare results from the K-matrix approach and several 3-dimensional quasipotential equations to the Bethe-Salpeter equation.

The equivalence theorem and the Bethe-Salpeter equation
Abstract: We solve the Bethe-Salpeter equation for two-particle scattering in a field-theoretical model using two lagrangians related by a field transformation. The kernel of the equation consists of the sum of all tree-level diagrams for each lagrangian. The solutions differ even if all four external particles are put on the mass shell, which implies that observables calculated by solving the Bethe-Salpe… ▽ More

Solution of the Bethe-Salpeter equation for pion-nucleon scattering
Abstract: A relativistic description of pion-nucleon scattering based on the four-dimensional Bethe-Salpeter equation is presented. The kernel of the equation consists of s- and u-channel nucleon and delta pole diagrams, as well as rho and sigma exchange in the t-channel. The Bethe-Salpeter equation is solved by means of a Wick rotation, and good fits are obtained to the s- and p-wave phase shifts up to 3… ▽ More

Covariant formulation of pion-nucleon scattering
Abstract: A covariant model of elastic pion-nucleon scattering based on the Bethe-Salpeter equation is presented. The kernel consists of s- and u-channel nucleon and delta poles, along with rho and sigma exchange in the t-channel. A good fit is obtained to the s- and p-wave phase shifts up to the two-pion production threshold.

Role of retardation in 3-D relativistic equations
Abstract: Equal-time Green's function is used to derive a three-dimensional integral equation from the Bethe-Salpeter equation. The resultant equation, in the absence of anti-particles, is identical to the use of time-ordered diagrams, and has been used within the framework of $φ^2σ$ coupling to study the role of energy dependence and non-locality when the two-body potential is the sum of $σ$-exchange and… ▽ More
