The Extreme Universe Space Observatory on a Super Pressure Balloon 1 (EUSO-SPB1) was launched in 2017 April from Wanaka, New Zealand. The plan of this mission of opportunity on a NASA super pressure balloon test flight was to circle the southern hemisphere. The primary scientific goal was to make the first observations of ultra-high-energy cosmic-ray extensive air showers (EASs) by looking down on the atmosphere with an ultraviolet (UV) fluorescence telescope from suborbital altitude (33~km). After 12~days and 4~hours aloft, the flight was terminated prematurely in the Pacific Ocean. Before the flight, the instrument was tested extensively in the West Desert of Utah, USA, with UV point sources and lasers. The test results indicated that the instrument had sensitivity to EASs of approximately 3 EeV. Simulations of the telescope system, telescope on time, and realized flight trajectory predicted an observation of about 1 event assuming clear sky conditions. The effects of high clouds were estimated to reduce this value by approximately a factor of 2. A manual search and a machine-learning-based search did not find any EAS signals in these data. Here we review the EUSO-SPB1 instrument and flight and the EAS search.

One of the most straightforward extensions of the standard model (SM) is having an additional Higgs doublet to the SM, namely the two Higgs doublet models(THDM). In the type-I model, an additional Higgs doublet is introduced that does not couple to any fermion via the Yukawa interaction. Considering various theoretical and phenomenological constraints, we have found the best-fitted parameter set in the type-I model using the minimum $χ^2$ method by scanning the model's parameter space. We show that this optimal parameter set can be probed by precisely analyzing the decay processes $D^+ \rightarrow μ^+ ν_μ$, $B^0 \rightarrow K^* μ^+ μ^-$. Moreover, the decay channels $h \rightarrow s\bar{s}$, $W^+W^-$ and $gg$ can be used to distinguish the model from the SM. For a direct search of the model at future colliders, we have proposed an investigation of the $e^+e^- \rightarrow t\bar{t} b\bar{b}$ process at the ILC to detect the new physics of the model. Considering the initial state radiation correction and applying appropriate background cuts, the calculation result of the scattering cross section shows that it is feasible to observe a clear and unique signal in the $t\bar{b}$ invariant mass distribution corresponding to the charged Higgs pair creations.

This report provides Green's functions (classical propagators) of gravitational fields of vierbein and spin-connection in general relativity. The existence of Green's function of the Laplace operator in curved space with an indefinite metric is ensured owing to the Hodge harmonic analysis. The analyticity of Green's function is naturally determined intrinsically, kee** a causality. This report proposed a novel definition of the momentum space in curved space-time and the linearisation of the Einstein equation as a free field consistent with that for the Yang-Mills gauge field. The proposed linearisation does not utilize the weak-field approximation; thus, the method applies to highly caved space-time. We gave two examples of Green's function of gravitational fields, the plane wave solution and the Schwarzschild solution.

We propose a renormalisable quantum theory of gravity (QGED) based on the standard BRST quantisation used to quantise the Yang-Mills theory. The BRST-invariant Lagrangian of the gravitationally interacting $U(1)$-gauge theory, including gauge fixing and ghost parts, is provided. From this Lagrangian, we extract a set of Feynman rules in the local inertial frame where gravity vanishes locally. Utilising Feynman rules of the QGED prepared here, we construct all renormalisation constants and show that the theory is perturbatively renormalisable in one-loop order. We replace infinite-valued bare objects in the bare Lagrangian with experimentally measured ones. In addition to standard QED parameters, we show that the gravitational coupling constant is measurable experimentally.
We also discuss a running effect of the gravitational coupling constant and the perturbative estimation of the Hawking radiation as examples of the perturbative QGED.

This report studies possible gravitational effects on measurements of fundamental physical observables such as the fine structure constant and the lepton magnetic moment. Although a static gravitational potential does not contribute to physical observables owing to Einstein's equivalent principle, a dynamic degree with finite momentum transfer can contribute to them. In other words, a laboratory frame fixed on the Earth is not an inertial system; thus, Earth's gravity can contribute to local observables. We investigate experimental results measuring the fine structure constant and electron and muon magnetic moments using the quantum field theoretic method under the Schwarzschild background field. We prepare classical vierbein and spin-connection fields owing to the Schwarzschild metric in the momentum space of the local Lorentz space and estimate possible gravitational effects at the surface of the Earth as ${\mathcal O}(10^{-9})$, which is consistent with the current discrepancy between measured and calculated values of the muon anomalous magnetic moment. On the other hand, the gravitational effect does not contribute to the fine structure constant measurements. We propose a possible test of gravitational effects in particle physics using precise measurement of muon properties in the J-PARK.

This report investigates general relativity and the Yang-Mills theory in four-dimensional space-time using a common mathematical framework, the Chern--Weil theory for principal bundles. The whole theory is described owing to the fibre bundle with the $GL(4)$ symmetry by twisting several principal bundles with the gauge symmetry.
In addition to the principal connection, we introduce the Hodge-dual connection into the Lagrangian to make gauge fields have dynamics independent from the Bianchi identity. We show that the duplex superstructure appears in the bundle when a $\mathbb{Z}_2$-grading operator exists in the total space of the bundle in general. The Dirac operator appears in the secondary superspace using the one-dimensional Clifford algebra, and it provides topological indices from the Atiyah--Singer index theorem.
Though the topological index is usually discussed in the elliptic-type manifold, this report treats it in the hyperbolic type space-time manifold using a novel method, namely the $θ$-metric space. The $θ$-metric treats the Euclidean and Minkowski spaces simultaneously and defines the topological index in the Minkowski space-time.

A new process with the lepton flavor violation (LFV) is presented in the setup for LHC. The LFV is induced by the one-loop effect through Higgs bosons in the framework of the type-III two Higgs doublet model. It is demonstrated that the vast of parameter space in the Yukawa sector could be accessed by current and future LHC experiments.

In this context, we extend GRACE, an automatic calculation system for invariant amplitudes, to incorporate particles and interactions in the Georgi-Machacek model. With the extended GRACE system, we study fermiophobic Higgs boson production processes at $e^+ e^-$ and $e^- e^-$ colliders in the model. The results show some advantages of $e^- e^-$ colliders over $e^+ e^-$ colliders for new physics search and thus its complementary role.

A symplectic geometry of classical general relativity is constructed using a generalized phase space for pure gravity. Prequantization of the symplectic manifold is performed according to the standard procedure of geometrical quantization. Quantum vacuum solutions are chosen from among the classical solutions under the Einstein-Brillouin-Keller quantization condition. A topological correction of quantum solutions, namely the Maslov index, is realized using a prequantization bundle. In addition, a possible mass spectrum of Schwarzschild black holes is discussed.

The deviation between the standard model prediction and the measurement of the muon g-2 is currently at 3-4 sigma (can be up to 7 sigma in the upcoming experiment E989). If new physics is responsible for such discrepancy, it is expected that the new contributions to tau g-2 are even larger than that for muon due to its large mass. In spite of that, the tau g-2 is much more difficult to be directly measured because of its short lifetime. In this paper, we consider the effect of the tau g-2 at $e^-e^+$ colliders in a model independent way. Using the tau pair production channel at the Large Electron Position Collider (LEP), we have found the allowed range for the new physics contribution of the tau g-2 assuming a $q^2$-dependence ansatz for the magnetic form factor. In our analysis, we take into account the standard model one-loop correction as well as the initial state photon radiation. We have also investigated the prospect at future $e^-e^+$ colliders, and determine the expected allowed range for the new physics contribution to the tau g-2. Given the proposed beam polarization configuration at the International Linear Collider (ILC), we have analyzed the dependence of this allowed range on the integrated luminosity as well as the relative systematic error.

It was launched on the moonless night of the 25$^{th}$ of August 2014 from Timmins, Canada. The flight ended successfully after maintaining the target altitude of 38 km for five hours. One part of the mission was a 2.5 hour underflight using a helicopter equipped with three UV light sources (LED, xenon flasher and laser) to perform an inflight calibration and examine the detectors capability to measure tracks moving at the speed of light. We describe the helicopter laser system and details of the underflight as well as how the laser tracks were recorded and found in the data. These are the first recorded laser tracks measured from a fluorescence detector looking down on the atmosphere. Finally, we present a first reconstruction of the direction of the laser tracks relative to the detector.

It is found that the magnitude of the MSSM contribution through the 1-loop effects is sizable enough to be detected. In the study, three sets of the MSSM parameters are proposed, which are consistent with the observed higgs mass, the muon $g$-$2$, the dark matter abundance and the decay branching ratios of $B$ mesons. In the $e^-e^+\rightarrow Zh$ process, the 1-loop effects of the MSSM are visible and the distinction of the parameter sets is partially possible. For the study of $e^-e^+\rightarrow ν\barνh$, we used the equivalent $\it W$-boson approximation in the evaluation of the 1-loop cross section. While the 1-loop effect of the MSSM is visible, the distinction of the parameter sets might not be possible in this process under the value of realistic luminosity at the ILC.

Quantum effects of a Schwarzschild black hole are demonstrated by solving the quantum equation requiring a stationary phase; the consistent result is obtained using the Einstein-Brillouin-Keller (EBK) quantization condition. We solve the Schrödinger--Einstein equation around the classical solution of the McVittie-Thakurta metric. This solution simultaneously describes a system with Schwarzschild's black holes and a scalar field. Moreover, we investigate a possible interplay between quantum black holes and a scalar field. The number density of black holes in the universe is obtained by applying statistical mechanics to a system consisting of black holes and a scalar field. A possible solution to the cosmological constant problem is proposed from a statistical perspective.

Full one-loop electroweak-corrections for an $e^-e^+\rightarrow t \bar{t}$ process associated with sequential $t\rightarrow b μν_μ$ decay are discussed. At the one-loop level, the spin-polarization effects of the initial electron and positron beams are included in the total and differential cross sections. A narrow-width approximation is used to treat the top-quark production and decay while including full spin correlations between them. We observed that the radiative corrections due to the weak interaction have a large polarization dependence on both the total and differential cross sections. Therefore, experimental observables that depend on angular distributions such as the forward-backward asymmetry of the top production angle must be treated carefully including radiative corrections. We also observed that the energy distribution of bottom quarks is majorly affected by the radiative corrections.

Characteristic classes in general relativity on a modified Poincare curvature bundle
Authors:

Abstract:
Characteristic classes in space-time manifolds are discussed for both even- and odd-dimensional spacetimes. In particular, it is shown that the Einstein--Hilbert action is equivalent to a second Chern-class on a modified Poincare bundle in four dimensions. Consequently, the cosmological constant and the trace of an energy-momentum tensor become divisible modulo R/Z.

The Chern-Weil topological theory is applied to a classical formulation of general relativity in four-dimensional spacetime. Einstein--Hilbert gravitational action is shown to be invariant with respect to a novel translation (co-translation) operator up to the total derivative; thus, a topological invariant of a second Chern class exists owing to Chern-Weil theory. Using topological insight, fundamental forms can be introduced as a principal bundle of the spacetime manifold. Canonical quantization of general relativity is performed in a Heisenberg picture using the Nakanishi-Kugo-Ojima formalism in which a complete set of quantum Lagrangian and BRST transformations including auxiliary and ghost fields is provided in a self-consistent manner. An appropriate Hilbert space and physical states are introduced into the theory, and the positivity of these physical states and the unitarity of the transition matrix are ensured according to the Kugo-Ojima theorem. The nonrenormalizability of quantum gravity is reconsidered under the formulation proposed herein.

A compact four-dimensional manifold whose metric tensor has a positive determinant (named the "Euclid ball") is considered. The Euclid ball can be immersed in the Minkovskian space (which has the negative determinant) and can exist stably through the history of the universe. Since the Euclid ball has the same solution as the Schwarzschild black hole on its three-dimensional surface, an asymptotic observer can not distinguish them. If large fraction of whole energy of the pre-universe was encapsulated in Euclid balls, they behave as the dark matter in the current universe. Euclid balls already existed at the end of the cosmological inflation, and can have a heavy mass in this model, they can be a seed of supper-massive black-holes, which are necessary to initiate a forming of galaxies in the early universe. The $γ$-ray burst at early universe is also a possible signal of the Euclidean ball.

A new idea for the quantization of dynamic systems, as well as space time itself, using a stochastic metric is proposed. The quantum mechanics of a mass point is constructed on a space time manifold using a stochastic metric. A stochastic metric space is, in brief, a metric space whose metric tensor is given stochastically according to some appropriate distribution function. A mathematically consistent model of a space time manifold equip** a stochastic metric is proposed in this report. The quantum theory in the local Minkowski space can be recognized as a classical theory on the stochastic Lorentz-metric-space. A stochastic calculus on the space time manifold is performed using white noise functional analysis. A path-integral quantization is introduced as a stochastic integration of a function of the action integral, and it is shown that path-integrals on the stochastic metric space are mathematically well-defined for large variety of potential functions. The Newton--Nelson equation of motion can also be obtained from the Newtonian equation of motion on the stochastic metric space. It is also shown that the commutation relation required under the canonical quantization is consistent with the stochastic quantization introduced in this report.
The quantum effects of general relativity are also analyzed through natural use of the stochastic metrics. Some example of quantum effects on the universe is discussed.

An event generator for diphoton ($γγ$) production in hadron collisions that includes associated jet production up to two jets has been developed using a subtraction method based on the LLL subtraction. The parton shower (PS) simulation to restore the subtracted divergent components involves both QED and QCD radiation, and QED radiation at very small $Q^{2}$ are simulated by referring to a fragmentation function (FF). The PS/FF simulation has the ability to enforce the radiation of a given number of energetic photons. The generated events can be fed to PYTHIA to obtain particle (hadron)-level event information, which enables us to perform realistic simulations of photon isolation and hadron-jet reconstruction. The simulated events, in which the loop-mediated $gg \rightarrow γγ$ process is involved, reasonably reproduce the diphoton kinematics measured at the LHC. Using the developed simulation, we found that the 2-jet processes significantly contribute to diphoton production. A large 2-jet contribution can be considered as a common feature in electroweak-boson production in hadron collisions although the reason is yet to be understood. Discussion concerning the treatment of the underlying events in photon isolation is necessary for future higher precision measurements.

In this report, a general method to extract thermodynamic quantities from solutions of the Einstein equation is developed. In 1994, Wald established that the entropy of a black hole could be identified as a Noether charge associated with a Killing vector of a global space-time (pseudo-Riemann) manifold. We reconstruct Wald's method using geometrical language, e.g$.$, via differential forms defined on the local space-time (Minkowski) manifold. Concurrently, the abstract thermodynamics are also reconstructed using geometrical terminology, which is parallel to general relativity. The correspondence between the thermodynamics and general relativity can be seen clearly by comparing the two expressions. This comparison requires a modification of Wald's method.
The new method is applied to Schwarzschild, Kerr, and Kerr--Newman black holes and de Sitter space. The results are consistent with previous results obtained using various independent methods. This strongly supports the validity of the area theorem for black holes.

We have developed an event generator for direct-photon production in hadron collisions, including associated two-jet production in the framework of the GR@PPA event generator. The event generator consistently combines $γ$ + 2-jet production processes with the lowest-order $γ$ + jet and photon-radiation (fragmentation) processes from QCD 2-jet production using a subtraction method. The generated events can be fed to general-purpose event generators to facilitate the addition of hadronization and decay simulations. Using the obtained event information, we can simulate photon isolation and hadron-jet reconstruction at the particle (hadron) level. The simulation reasonably reproduces measurement data obtained at the LHC concerning not only the inclusive photon spectrum, but also the correlation between the photon and jet. The simulation implies that the contribution of the $γ$ + 2-jet is very large, especially in low photon-$p_{T}$ ($\lesssim$ 50 GeV) regions. Discrepancies observed at low $p_{T}$, although marginal, may indicate the necessity for the consideration of further higher-order processes. Unambiguous particle-level definition of the photon-isolation condition for the signal events is desired to be given explicitly in future measurements.

We first show that the kinematical reconstruction of the complete kinematics is experimentally tractable for this process. Then we apply the matrix element method to study the sensitivity to the Vt\bar{t} coupling (V being a vector gauge boson), at the tree level and in the narrow width approximation. Assuming the ILC baseline configuration, sqrt{S}=500 GeV, and a luminosity of 500 fb^{-1}, we conclude that this optimal analysis allows to determine simultaneously the ten form factors that parameterize the Vt\bar{t} coupling, below the percent level. We also discuss the effects of the next leading order (NLO) electroweak corrections using the GRACE program with polarized beams. It is found that the NLO corrections to different beam polarization lead to significantly different patterns of contributions.

In order to include multi-jet MEs, we have to address the soft-gluon divergence together with the collinear divergence. We introduce an approximation which simultaneously reproduces both divergences in a form suitable for application to our subtraction method. The alteration in the subtraction can be compensated by applying an appropriate correction to corresponding non-radiative events. We demonstrate that $W$ + 0, 1, and 2 jet production processes can be consistently combined using the developed matching method.

By using the GRACE-Loop system, we calculate the full $\mathcal{O}(α)$ electroweak radiative corrections to the process $e^+e^- \rightarrow e^+e^- γ$, which is important for future investigations at the International Linear Collider (ILC). With the GRACE-Loop system, the calculations are checked numerically by three consistency tests: ultraviolet finiteness, infrared finiteness, and gauge-parameter independence. The results show good numerical stability when quadruple precision is used. In the phenomenological results, we find that the electroweak corrections to the total cross section range from $\sim -4\%$ to $\sim -21\%$ when $\sqrt{s}$ varies from $250$ GeV to $1$ TeV. The corrections also significantly affect the differential cross sections, which are a function of the invariant masses and angles and the final-particle energies. Such corrections will play an important role for the high-precision program at the ILC.

The set of dimension-six operators involving the Higgs field is chosen in such a way that the form of gauge bosons kinetic terms remains untouched, preserving all high-precision electroweak constraints. A systematic study of effects in various Higgs boson production channels (γγ, ZZ, WW, bb-bar, ττ-bar) caused by effecive operators is carried out beyond the {production x decay} approximation (or infinitely small width approximation). Statistical methods are used to establish consistency of the standard Higgs sector with the available LHC data. A global fit in the two-parametric anomalous coupling space indicating to possible deviations from the standard Higgs-fermion and Higgs-gauge boson couplings is performed, using post-Moriond 2012 data and more precise LC 2013 data. We find that the standard Higgs sector is consistent with the current CMS and ATLAS experimental results both in the infinitely small width approximantion and the calculation with complete gauge invariant sets of diagrams. However, visible difference of the exclusion contours is found for some combinations of production and decay channels, although minor for the global fits for all possible channels. Updates of the signal strength and the signal strength error reported at LC 2013 result in a significant improvements of the allowed regions in the anomalous coupling space, which are recalculated also at complete tree level.

The particle trajectories of a general dynamical system defined on an (1+n)-dimensional smooth manifold are treated geometrically as dynamical variables. Statistical mechanics of particle trajectories are constructed in a classical manner. Thermodynamic variables are introduced through a partition function based on a canonical ensemble of trajectories. Within this theoretical framework, classical mechanics can be interpreted as an equilibrium state of statistical mechanics. The relationships between classical and quantum mechanics are discussed from this statistical mechanical viewpoint. The maximum entropy principle is shown to provide a unified view of both classical and quantum mechanics.

We discuss reasons why a probability amplitude, which becomes a probability density after squaring, is considered as one of the most basic ingredients of quantum mechanics. First, the Heisenberg/Schrodinger equation, an equation of motion in quantum mechanics, describes a time evolution of the probability amplitude rather than of a probability density. There may be reasons why dynamics of a physical system are described by amplitude. In order to investigate one role of the probability amplitude in quantum mechanics, specialized codeword-transfer experiments are designed using classical information theory. Within this context, quantum mechanics based on probability amplitude provides the following: i) a minimum error of the codeword transfer; ii) this error is independent of coding parameters; and iii) nontrivial and nonlocal correlation can be realized. These are considered essential advantages of the probability amplitude over the probability density.

General characterizations of physical measurements are discussed within the framework of the classical information theory. The uncertainty relation for simultaneous measurements of two physical observables is defined in this framework for generalized dynamic systems governed by a Sturm--Liouville type of equation of motion. In the first step, the reduction of Kennard--Robertson type uncertainties due to boundary conditions with a mean-square error is discussed quantitatively with reference to the information entropy. Several concrete examples of generalized uncertainty relations are given. Then, by considering disturbance effects, a universally valid uncertainty relation is investigated for the generalized equation of motion with a certain boundary condition. Necessary conditions for violation (reduction) of the Heisenberg-type uncertainty relation are discussed in detail. The reduction of the generalized uncertainty relation due to the boundary condition is then tested experimentally by re-analyzing data for measured electron densities in a hydrogen molecule encapsulated in a fullerene C60 cage.

Abstract:
We present the full $\mathcal{O}(α)$ electroweak radiative corrections to the process $e^+e^- \rightarrow t \bar{t} γ$ at the International Linear Collider (ILC). The computation is performed with the help of the GRACE-Loop system. We present the total cross-section and the top quark forward-backward asymmetry ($A_{FB}$) as a function of the center-of-mass energy and compare them with the process…

The computation is performed with the help of the GRACE-Loop system. We present the total cross-section and the top quark forward-backward asymmetry ($A_{FB}$) as a function of the center-of-mass energy and compare them with the process $e^+e^- \rightarrow t \bar{t}$. We find that the value of $A_{FB}$ in $t \bar{t} γ$ production is larger than $A_{FB}$ in $t\bar{t}$ production. It is an important result for the measurement of the top quark forward-backward asymmetry at the ILC. Applying a structure function method, we also subtract the QED correction to gain the genuine weak correction in both the $α$ scheme and the $G_μ$ scheme ($δ_{W}^{G_μ}$). We obtain numerical values for $δ_{W}^{G_μ}$ which are changing from 2% to -24% when we vary the center-of-mass energy from 360 GeV to 1 TeV.

Abstract:
We studied the feasibility of the measurement of Higgs pair creation at a Photon Linear Collider (PLC). From the sensitivity to the anomalous self-coupling of the Higgs boson, the optimum $γγ$ collision energy was found to be around 270 GeV for a Higgs mass of 120 GeV/$c^2$. We found that large backgrounds such as $γγ\rightarrow W^+W^-, ZZ,$ and $b\bar{b}b\bar{b}$, can be suppressed if correct ass…

We have developed a Monte Carlo event generator for non-resonant diphoton ($γγ$) production at hadron collisions in the framework of GR@PPA, which consistently includes additional one-jet production. The jet-matching method developed for initial-state jet production has been extended to the final state in order to regularize the final-state QED divergence in the $qg \rightarrow γγ+ q$ process. A QCD/QED-mixed parton shower (PS) has been developed to complete the matching. The PS has the capability of enforcing hard-photon radiation, and small-$Q^{2}$ photon radiations that are not covered by the PS are supplemented by using a fragmentation function. The generated events can be passed to general-purpose event generators in order to perform the simulations down to the hadron level. Thus, we can simulate the isolation requirements that must be applied in experiments at the hadron level. The simulation results are in reasonable agreement with the predictions from RESBOS and DIPHOX. The simulated hadron-level events can be further fed to detector simulations in order to investigate the detailed performance of experiments.

We present numerical results of calculations for pair-production and three-body decay of the lighter stop ($\widetilde{t}_1$) at the International Linear Collider (ILC) using GRACE/SUSY-loop. Since the distributions of missing transverse energy (MET) depend on mass spectrum of SUSY particles, we consider two scenarios on three-body decay of $\widetilde{t}_1$. In these scenarios, both QCD and EW corrections have positive sign for decay widths and cross sections.
