We study the threshold effect for neutral and charged Drell-Yan productions, associated production of Higgs boson with a massive vector boson and Higgs production in bottom quark annihilation at LHC to the third order in QCD. Using the third order soft-virtual results for these processes and exploiting the universality of the threshold logarithms, we extract the process-dependent coefficients for these processes and resum large threshold logarithms to next-to-next-to-next-to leading logarithmic (N$^3$LL) accuracy. By matching our results to the recently available N$^3$LO results, we provide the most precise theoretical predictions for these processes. We present numerical results for invariant mass distribution and total production cross-sections. We find the conventional scale uncertainties of about $0.4\%$ at N$^3$LO level in the fixed order results get reduced to as small as less than $0.1\%$ at N$^3$LO+N$^3$LL level in the high invariant mass region.

We present first results on the resummation of Next-to-Soft Virtual (NSV) logarithms for the threshold production of pseudoscalar Higgs boson through gluon fusion at the LHC. These results are presented after resumming the NSV logarithms of the kind ${\log}^{i}(1-z)$ to $\overline{\text{NNLL}}$ accuracy and matching them systematically to the fixed order NNLO cross-sections. These results are obtained using collinear factorization, renormalization group invariance and recent developments in the NSV resummation techniques. The phenomenological implications of these NSV resummed results for 13 TeV LHC are studied and it is observed that these NSV logarithms are quite large. We also evaluate theory uncertainties and find that the renormalization scale uncertainties get reduced further with the inclusion of NSV corrections at various orders in QCD. We further study the impact of QCD corrections on mixed scalar-pseudoscalar states for different values of the mixing angle $α$.

The complete next-to-next-to leading order (NNLO) QCD correction matched with next-to-next-to leading logarithm (NNLL) has been studied for Drell-Yan production through spin-2 particle at the Large hadron collider (LHC). We consider generic spin-2 particle which couples differently to the quarks and the gluons (non-universal scenario). The threshold enhanced analytical coefficient has been obtained up to third order exploiting the universality of the soft function as well as the process dependent form factors at the same order. We performed a detailed phenomenological analysis and give prediction for the 13 TeV LHC for the search of such BSM signature. We found that the matched correction at the second order gives sizeable corrections over wide range of invariant mass of the lepton pair. The scale variation also stabilizes at this order and reduces to 4%. As a by-product we also provide ingredients for third order soft-virtual (SV) prediction as well as resummation and study the impact on LHC searches.

In addition, the soft-virtual (SV) cross-section at next-to-next-to-next-to leading order (N$^3$LO) as well as threshold resummation to next-to-next-to leading logarithms (NNLL) level have been presented. The analytical coefficient for SV production has been obtained up to three loops very recently along with the process-dependent coefficients needed to perform resummation up to NNLL. These coefficients are universal for any universal spin-2 model where spin-2 particle couples to the Standard Model (SM) particles with equal strength. We use these coefficients in predicting N$^3$LO SV results as well as matched NNLO+NNLL results for invariant mass distribution for Drell-Yan (DY) production in RS model. We performed a detailed phenomenological analysis and present prediction for the 13 TeV centre-of-mass energy at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) for the search of such RS Kaluza-Klein (KK) resonances. The NNLO cross-section adds about $21\%$ correction to the next-to-leading order (NLO) results. We found that the SV correction at the N$^3$LO order decreases the cross-section by $0.7\%$ near the first KK resonance ($M_1=1500$ GeV) whereas the resummed result shows an increment over NNLO by $7\%$ of LO. We performed a detailed analysis including scale variation and parton distribution function (PDF) variations. These new results provide an opportunity to stringently constrain the parameters of the model in particular in the search of heavy spin-2 resonances at the LHC.

Considering the spin-2 propagator in the large extra dimensional (ADD) model, we also study the numerical impact of these three-loop SV corrections as well as the resummed predictions on the di-lepton invariant mass distribution at the 13 TeV LHC. We find that the conventional scale uncertainties in the NNLO+N$^3$LL resummed results substantially get reduced to as low as 2\% in the high invariant mass region. We use the invariant mass distribution of the pair of leptons produced at the LHC to demonstrate this. A minimal scenario where the spin-2 fields couple to two gauge invariant operators with different coupling strengths has been considered. These operators being not conserved show very different ultraviolet behaviour increasing the searches options of spin-2 particles at the colliders. We find that our results using the higher order quantum corrections stabilise the predictions with respect to renormalisation and factorisation scales. We also find that corrections are appreciable which need to be taken into account in such searches at the colliders.

While deep learning is remarkably successful on perceptual tasks, it was also shown to be vulnerable to adversarial perturbations of the input. These perturbations denote noise added to the input that was generated specifically to fool the system while being quasi-imperceptible for humans. More severely, there even exist universal perturbations that are input-agnostic but fool the network on the majority of inputs. While recent work has focused on image classification, this work proposes attacks against semantic image segmentation: we present an approach for generating (universal) adversarial perturbations that make the network yield a desired target segmentation as output. We show empirically that there exist barely perceptible universal noise patterns which result in nearly the same predicted segmentation for arbitrary inputs. Furthermore, we also show the existence of universal noise which removes a target class (e.g., all pedestrians) from the segmentation while leaving the segmentation mostly unchanged otherwise.

So far this phenomenon has mainly been studied in the context of whole-image classification. In this contribution, we analyse how adversarial perturbations can affect the task of semantic segmentation. The first results on the complete next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) Quantum Chromodynamic (QCD) corrections to the production of di-leptons at hadron colliders in large extra dimension models with spin-2 particles are reported in this article. In particular, we have computed these corrections to the invariant mass distribution of the di-leptons taking into account all the partonic subprocesses that contribute at NNLO. In these models, spin-2 particles couple through the energy-momentum tensor of the Standard Model (SM) with the universal coupling strength. The tensorial nature of the interaction and the presence of both quark annihilation and gluon fusion channels at the Born level make it challenging computationally and interesting phenomenologically. We have demonstrated numerically the importance of our results at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) energies. The two loop corrections contribute an additional 10\% to the total cross section. We find that the QCD corrections are not only large but also important to make the predictions stable under renormalisation and factorisation scale variations providing an opportunity to stringently constrain the parameters of the models with a spin-2 particle.

We consider the production of a pseudo-scalar particle $A$ at the LHC, and present accurate theoretical predictions for its inclusive cross section in gluon fusion. The prediction is based on combining fixed-order perturbation theory and all-order threshold resummation. At fixed order we include the exact next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) plus an approximate next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (N$^3$LO$_{\rm A}$) which is based on the recent computation at this order for the scalar case. We then add threshold resummation at next-to-next-to-next-to leading logarithmic accuracy (N$^3$LL$^\prime$). Various forms of threshold resummation are considered, differing by the treatment of subleading terms, allowing a robust estimate of the theoretical uncertainties due to missing higher orders. With particular attention to pseudo-scalar masses of $200$ GeV and $750$ GeV, we also observe that perturbative convergence is much improved when resummation is included. Additionally, results obtained with threshold resummation in direct QCD are compared with analogous results as computed in soft-collinear effective theory, which turn out to be in good agreement. We provide precise predictions for pseudo-scalar inclusive cross section at $13$ TeV LHC for a wide range of masses. The results are available through updated versions of the public codes ggHiggs and TROLL.

[1] not only provides a precise prediction with reduced scale uncertainties for studying the Higgs boson properties but also establishes the reliability of the perturbative QCD. In this letter, we propose a novel approach to further reduce the uncertainty arising from the renormalization scale by systematically resumming the renormalization group (RG) accessible logarithms to all orders in the strong coupling constant. Our numerical study based on this approach, demonstrates a significant improvement over the fixed order predictions.

The high mass neutral quantum states envisaged by theories of physics beyond the standard model can at the hadron colliders reveal themselves through their decay into a pair of photons. Once such a peak in the diphoton invariant mass distribution is discovered, the determination of its spin through the distinctive photon angular distributions is needed in order to identify the associated nonstandard dynamics. We here discuss the discrimination of the spin-2 Randall-Sundrum graviton excitation against the hypothesis of a spin-0 exchange giving the same number of events under the peak, by means of the angular analysis applied to resonant diphoton events expected to be observed at the LHC. The spin-0 hypothesis is modelled by an effective interaction of a high mass gauge singlet scalar particle interacting with the standard model fields. The basic observable of our analysis is the symmetrically integrated angular asymmetry $A_{CE}$, calculated for both graviton and scalar s-channel exchanges to next-to-leading order in QCD.

We present a full next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to diphoton production at the hadron colliders in both standard model and ADD model. The invariant mass and rapidity distributions of the diphotons are obtained using a semi-analytical two cut-off phase space slicing method which allows for a successful numerical implementation of various kinematical cuts used in the experiments. The fragmentation photons are systematically removed using smooth-cone-isolation cuts on the photons. The NLO QCD corrections not only stabilise the perturbative predictions but also enhance the production cross section significantly.

Abstract:
We compute to next-to-leading order in QCD the tensor unparticle contribution to the diphoton production at the LHC, wherein the unparticle sector is a consequence of (a) scale invariance but not full conformal invariance and (b) conformal invariance. We use the semi-analytical two cutoff phase space slicing method to handle the ${\cal O}(α_s)$ corrections to the $p p \to γγX$ and show that our…

We use the semi-analytical two cutoff phase space slicing method to handle the ${\cal O}(α_s)$ corrections to the $p p \to γγX$ and show that our results are insensitive to the soft and collinear cutoffs. In order to avoid the contribution of the photons due to fragmentation, we employ the smooth cone isolation criterion. Significance of the QCD corrections to the diphoton events including unparticles is highlighted.

Abstract:
We have considered the di-photon production with unparticle at LHC. The contributions of spin-0 and spin-2 unparticle to the di-photon production are studied in the invariant mass and other kinematical distributions, along with their dependencies on the model dependent parameters. The signal corresponding to the unparticle is significant for moderate coupling constant values.

Abstract:
In the extra dimension models of ADD and RS we study the dependence of the various parton distribution functions on observable of Drell-Yan process to NLO in QCD at LHC and Tevatron energies. Uncertainties at LHC due to factorisation scales in going from leading to next-to-leading order in QCD for the various distributions get reduced by about 2.75 times for a $μ_F$ range…

Uncertainties at LHC due to factorisation scales in going from leading to next-to-leading order in QCD for the various distributions get reduced by about 2.75 times for a $μ_F$ range $0.5 ~Q < μ_F < 1.5 ~Q$. Further uncertainties arising from the error on experimental data are estimated using the MRST parton distribution functions.
