These nonlinear resonant states are analytically illustrated in terms of Gaussian beams, Airy beams, and periodic beams that resulted due to the presence of quadratic, linear, and constant type of `smart' potentials, respectively, of the ensuing model. Interestingly, the nonlinear chirp associated with each of these novel resonant states can be efficiently controlled, by varying the self-steepening term and self-frequency shift. Furthermore, we have conducted numerical experiments corroborative of our analytical predictions.

We present exact bright, dark and rogue soliton solutions of generalized higherorder nonlinear Schrodinger equation, describing the ultrashort beam propagation in tapered waveguide amplifier, via a similarity transformation connected with the constant-coefficient Sasa-Satsuma and Hirota equations. Our exact analysis takes recourse to identify the allowed tapering profile in conjunction with appropriate gain function which corresponds to PT-symmetric waveguide. We extend our analysis to study the effect of tapering profiles and higher-order terms on the evolution of self-similar waves and thus enabling one to control the self-similar wave structure and dynamical behavior.

More pertinently, we term them as Lambert W-kink-type solitons, begotten under the influence of intrapulse Raman scattering. Parameter domains are delineated in which these optical solitons exit in the ensuing model. We report the effect of model coefficients on the amplitude of Lambert W-kink solitons, which enables us to control efficiently the pulse intensity and hence their subsequent evolution. Also, moving fronts or optical shock-type solitons are obtained as a byproduct of this model. We explicate the mechanism to control the intensity of these fronts, by fine tuning the spectral filtering or gain parameter. It is exhibited that the frequency chirp associated with these optical solitons depends on the intensity of the wave and saturates to a constant value as the retarded time approaches its asymptotic value.

Glassy carbon is a graphene-rich form of elemental carbon obtained from pyrolysis of polymers, which is composed of three-dimensionally arranged, curved graphene fragments alongside fractions of disordered carbon and voids. Pyrolysis encompasses gradual heating of polymers above 900 degree C under inert atmosphere, followed by cooling to room temperature. Here we report on an experimental method to perform in situ high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) for the direct visualization of microstructural evolution in a pyrolyzing polymer in the 500-1200 degree C temperature range. The results are compared with the existing microstructural models of glassy carbon. Reported experiments are performed at 80 kV acceleration voltage using MEMS-based heating chips as sample substrates to minimize any undesired beam-damage or sample preparation induced transformations. The outcome suggests that the geometry, expansion and atomic arrangement within the resulting graphene fragments constantly change, and that the intermediate structures provide important cues on the evolution of glassy carbon. A complete understanding of the pyrolysis process will allow for a general process tuning specific to the precursor polymer for obtaining glassy carbon with pre-defined properties.

We have investigated the ($2+1$)-dimensional variable coefficient coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equation (vc-CNLSE) in a graded-index waveguide. Similarity transformations are used to convert the vc-CNLSE into constant coefficient CNLSE. Under certain functional constraints we could extract semirational, multi-parametric solution of the associated Manakov system. This family of solutions include known Peregrine soliton, mixture of either bright soliton and rogue wave or dark soliton and rogue wave or breather and rogue wave. Under a distinct set of self-phase modulation (SPM) and cross-phase modulation (XPM) coefficients we could establish symbiotic existence of different soliton pairs as solutions. These soliton pairs may constitute of one bright and a dark soliton, two bright solitons or two dark solitons. Finally, when two wave components are directly proportional, we find bright and dark similaritons, self-similar breathers and rogue waves as different solutions.

Due to the factors like processing power limitations and channel capabilities images are often down sampled and transmitted at low bit rates resulting in a low resolution compressed image. High resolution images can be reconstructed from several blurred, noisy and down sampled low resolution images using a computational process know as super resolution reconstruction. Super-resolution is the process of combining multiple aliased low-quality images to produce a high resolution, high-quality image. The problem of recovering a high resolution image progressively from a sequence of low resolution compressed images is considered. In this paper we propose a novel DCT based progressive image display algorithm by stressing on the encoding and decoding process. At the encoder we consider a set of low resolution images which are corrupted by additive white Gaussian noise and motion blur. The low resolution images are compressed using 8 by 8 blocks DCT and noise is filtered using our proposed novel zonal filter. Multiframe fusion is performed in order to obtain a single noise free image. At the decoder the image is reconstructed progressively by transmitting the coarser image first followed by the detail image. And finally a super resolution image is reconstructed by applying our proposed novel adaptive interpolation technique. We have performed both objective and subjective analysis of the reconstructed image, and the resultant image has better super resolution factor, and a higher ISNR and PSNR. A comparative study done with Iterative Back Projection (IBP) and Projection on to Convex Sets (POCS),Papoulis Grechberg, FFT based Super resolution Reconstruction shows that our method has out performed the previous contributions.

DDR SDRAM is similar in function to the regular SDRAM but doubles the bandwidth of the memory by transferring data on both edges of the clock cycles. DDR SDRAM most commonly used in various embedded application like networking, image or video processing, Laptops ete. Now a days many applications needs more and more cheap and fast memory. Especially in the field of signal processing, requires significant amount of memory. The most used type of dynamic memory for that purpose is DDR SDRAM. For FPGA design the IC manufacturers are providing commercial memory controller IP cores working only on their products. Main disadvantage is the lack of memory access optimization for random memory access patterns. The data path part of those controllers can be used free of charge. This work propose an architecture of a DDR SDRAM controller, which takes advantage of those available and well tested data paths and can be used for any FPGA device or ASIC design.(5). In most of the SOC design, DDR SDRAM is commonly used. ARM processor is widely used in SOCs; so that we focused to implement AHB compatible DDR SDRAM controller suitable for ARM based SOC design.

The dynamic structure factor of a harmonically trapped Bose gas has been calculated well above the Bose-Einstein condensation temperature by treating the gas cloud as a canonical ensemble of noninteracting classical particles. The static structure factor is found to vanish as wavenumber squared in the long-wavelength limit. We also incorporate a relaxation mechanism phenomenologically by including a stochastic friction force to study the dynamic structure factor. A significant temperature dependence of the density-fluctuation spectra is found. The Debye-Waller factor has been calculated for the trapped thermal cloud as function of wavenumber and of particle number. A substantial difference is found between clouds of small and large particle number.

Both dark and bright solitons can be excited in the experimentally allowed parameter domain, when two and three-body interactions are respectively repulsive and attractive. These solutions are obtained for non-zero chemical potential, unlike their unstable real counterparts which exist in the limit of vanishing $μ$. The dark solitons travel with constant speed, which is quite different from the Lieb mode, where profiles with different speeds, bounded above by sound velocity can exist for specified interaction strengths.

We find exact solutions to nonlinear Schrödinger equation in the presence of self-steepening and self-frequency shift. These include periodic solutions and localized solutions of dark-bright type which can be {\emph{chiral}}, and chirality being controlled by sign of self steepening term. A new form of self phase modulation, which can be tuned by higher order nonlinearities as also by the initial conditions, distinct from nonlinear Schrödinger equation, characterizes these solutions. In certain nontrivial parameter domain solutions are found to satisfy {\emph{linear}} Schrödinger equation, indicating possiblity of linear superposition in this nonlinear system. Dark and bright solitons exist in both anomalous and normal dispersion regimes and a duality between dark-bright type of solution and kinematic-higher order chir** is also seen. Localized kink solutions similar to NLSE solitons, but with very different self phase modulation, are identified.

It is found that, a wide class of solutions of the higher order non-linear Schrödinger equation with a source can also be obtained through the above procedure. Distinct parameter ranges, allowing the existence of these solutions, phase locked with their respective sources, are delineated. Conditions for obtaining non-propagating solutions are found to be quite different for both the equations. A special case, where the scale of the soliton emerges as a free parameter, is obtained and the condition under which solitons can develop singularity is pointed out. We also study the highly restrictive structure of the localised solutions, when the phase and amplitude get coupled.

The eigen spectra of these Hamiltonians, when $g^{\prime} \ne 0$, are non-degenerate and the scattering phase shifts are found to be energy dependent. It is further pointed out that, the eigenvalue problems are amenable to solution for wider choices of $U$, if $g^{\prime}$ is conveniently fixed. These conditionally exactly solvable problems also do not exhibit energy degeneracy and the scattering phase shifts can be computed {\it only} for a specific partial wave.
