The aim of this work is to find analytical expressions of the radiation force and potential densities arising from a laser pulse propagating in a dielectric media. In the femtosecond region the force becomes strong enough to confine neutral particles into the pulse envelope and translate them with the group velocity in gases. Additionally, if the trapped particles are with high density, the probability of collision with the free atoms and molecules in air become significant. The collision energies are in the range of 12 - 24 GeV and high enough to ionize the neutral atoms. Thus, a new type of collision ionization can be observed, when powerful femtosecond pulses propagate in gaseous media.

The absence of ionization and observation of white continuum in the initial moment of filamentation of powerful femtosecond laser pulses, propagating in silica glasses, as well as the filamentation without plasma channels observed in the experiments in air, forced us to look for other nonlinear mechanisms of description the above mentioned effects. For this reason we present in this paper new parametric conversion mechanism for asymmetric spectrum broadening of femtosecond laser pulses towards the higher frequencies in isotropic media. This mechanism includes cascade generation with THz spectral shift for solids and GHz spectral delay for gases. The process works simultaneously with the four-photon parametric wave mixing. The proposed theoretical model gives very good coincidence with the experimental data. In addition we demonstrate that the nonlinear model describes the process of reduction of the number of filaments trough two mechanisms of nonlinear interaction: attraction due to cross-phase modulation and energy exchange due to four-photon parametric wave mixing.

The vector character of the nonlinear third-order polarization of the electrical field in air is investigated in details. A new polarization state is presented by using left-hand and right-hand circular components of the electrical field . The corresponding system of vector amplitude equations is derived in the rotating basis. We found that this system of nonlinear equations has $3D+1$ vector soliton solutions with Lorentz shape. The solution presents a relatively stable propagation and rotation with GHz frequency of the vector of the electrical field in a plane orthogonal to the direction of propagation. The evolution of the intensity profile demonstrates a weak self-compression and a week spherical wave in the first milliseconds of propagation.

In the first case we study energy exchange between filaments. The model describes this process through degenerate four-photon parametric mixing (FPPM) scheme and requests initial phase difference between the waves. When there are no initial phase difference between the pulses, the FPPM process does not work. In this case it is obtained the second type of interaction as merging between two, three or four filaments in a single filament with higher power. It is found that in the second case the interflow between the filaments has potential of interaction due to cross-phase modulation (CPM).

Recently energy exchange between two filaments crossing at small angle and with power slightly above the critical for self-focusing $P_{cr}$ was experimentally demonstrated. In this paper we present a model describing the process of this transfer through degenerate four-photon parametric mixing. Our model confirms the experimental results that the direction of energy exchange depends on the relative transverse velocity (incident angle), laser intensity and initial distance between the pulses (relative initial phase). We also investigate the interaction between two collinear filaments in order to explain the filaments number reduction for powers close to $P_{cr}$ in multi-filamental propagation.

We present a systematic study on linear propagation of ultrashort laser pulses in media with dispersion, dispersionless media and vacuum. The applied method of amplitude envelopes gives the opportunity to estimate the limits of slowly warring amplitude approximation and to describe an amplitude integro-differential equation, governing the propagation of optical pulses in single cycle regime. The well known slowly varying amplitude equation and the amplitude equation for vacuum are written in dimensionless form. Three parameters are obtained defining different linear regimes of the optical pulses evolution. In contrast to previous studies we demonstrate that in femtosecond region the nonparaxial terms are not small and can dominate over transverse Laplacian. The normalized amplitude nonparaxial equations are solved using the method of Fourier transforms. Fundamental solutions with spectral kernels different from Fresnel one are found. One unexpected new result is the relative stability of light pulses with spherical and spheroidal spatial form, when we compare their transverse enlargement with the paraxial diffraction of lights beam in air. It is important to emphasize here the case of light disks, i.e. pulses whose longitudinal size is small with respect to the transverse one, which in some partial cases are practically diffractionless over distances of thousand kilometers. A new formula which calculates the diffraction length of optical pulses is suggested.

The applied method of the amplitude envelopes give us the possibility to describe a new class of amplitude equations governing the propagation of optical pulses in media with dispersion, dispersionless media and vacuum. We normalized these amplitude equations and obtained five dimensionless parameters that determine different linear and nonlinear regimes of the optical pulses evolution. Surprisingly, in linear regime the normalized amplitude equations for media with dispersion and the amplitude equations in dispersionless media and vacuum are equal with precise - material constants. The equations were solved for pulses with low intensity (linear regime), using the method of Fourier transforms. One unexpected new result was the relative stability of light bullets and light disks and the significant reduction of their diffraction enlargement. It is important to emphasize here the case of light disks, which turn out to be practically diffractionless over distances of more than hundred kilometers.

We apply the method of slowly-varying amplitudes of the electrical and magnet fields to integro-differential system of nonlinear Maxwell equations. The equations are reduced to system of differential Nonlinear Maxwell amplitude Equations (NME). Different orders of dispersion of the linear and nonlinear susceptibility can be estimated. This method allow us to investigate also the optical pulses with time duration equal or shorter than the relaxation time of the media. The electric and magnetic fields are presented as sums of circular and linear components. Thus, NME is written as a set of Nonlinear Dirac Equations (NDE). Exact solutions of NDE with classical orbital momentum $\ell = 1$ and opposite directions of the spin (opposite charge) $j = \pm1 / 2$ are obtained. The possible generalization of NME to higher number of optical components and higher number of $\ell$ and $j$ is discussed. Two kind of Kerr type media: with and without linear dispersion of the electric and the magnet susceptibility are consider. The vortex solutions in case of media with dispersion admit finite energy while the solutions in case of a media without dispersion admit infinite energy.

The applied method of slowly varying amplitudes of the electrical and magnet vector fields give us the possibility to reduce the nonlinear vector integro-differential wave equation to the amplitude vector nonlinear differential equations. It can be estimated different orders of dispersion of the linear and nonlinear susceptibility using this approximation. The critical values of parameters to observe different linear and nonlinear effects are determinate. The obtained amplitude equation is a vector version of 3D+1 Nonlinear Schredinger Equation (VNSE) describing the evolution of slowly varying amplitudes of electrical and magnet fields in dispersive nonlinear Kerr type media. We show that VNSE admit exact vortex solutions with classical orbital momentum $\ell=1$ and finite energy. Dispersion region and medium parameters necessary for experimental observation of these vortices, are determinate.

It is shown that these equations admit exact vortex solutions with spin l=1. We have determined the dispersion region and the medium parameters necessary for experimental observation of these vortices. In the second case we represent the electric and magnetic fields as sum of circular and linear components. We supouse also that our nonlinear media admit linear magnetic polarization. This allows us to reduce the Maxwell's equations to a set of amplitude Nonlinear Dirac Equations (NDE). WE find two representation of the NDE- spherical and spinor. In the spherical representation we obtain exact vortex solutions with spin l-1 and in the spinor representation, exact vortex solutions with spin j=1/2.

Using the method of separation of variables, we developed a vector nonparaxial theory from the nonlinear wave equations in strong field approximation of a Kerr media. Investigating three waves on different frequencies, which satisfied the condition 2w3=w1+w2, we found that exact localized vortex parametric soliton solutions existed for the set of four nonlinear 3D+1vector wave equations. The solutions are obtained for a fixed angle between the main frequencies and the signal waves A=60 deg. This method is applicable for angular functions, which satisfy additional conditions. It is shown that exact parametric vortex solitary waves exist for solution with eigenrotation momentum L=1. The method is generalized for arbitrary number of signal waves appearing symmetrically in pairs in respect to w3. The existence of such type of vortex solitons, in the case of degenerate four-wave mixing is discussed. As all of the waves are localized and have momentum L=1, they are called optical mesons.
