This analysis is sensitive to contributions from right-handed currents from physics beyond the Standard Model by constraining the Wilson coefficients $\mathcal{C}_7^{(\prime)}$. We perform a fit to the $B\to K^* e^+ e^-$ differential decay rate and measure the imaginary component of the transversality amplitude to be $A_T^{\rm Im} = -1.27 \pm 0.52 \pm 0.12$, and the $K^*$ transverse asymmetry to be $A_T^{(2)} = 0.52 \pm 0.53 \pm 0.11$. The resulting constraints on the value of $\mathcal{C}_7^{\prime}$ are consistent with the Standard Model within a $2σ$ confidence interval.

We use the Belle data and the lattice data to constrain right-handed new physics. In addition, we also generate unbinned pseudo-dataset and perform a sensitivity study on more general new physics models, using the lattice data.

Autonomous mobile robot competitions judge based on a robot's ability to quickly and accurately navigate the game field. This means accurate localization is crucial for creating an autonomous competition robot. Two common localization methods are odometry and computer vision landmark detection. Odometry provides frequent velocity measurements, while landmark detection provides infrequent position measurements. The state can also be predicted with a physics model. These three types of localization can be "fused" to create a more accurate state estimate using an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). The EKF is a nonlinear full-state estimator that approximates the state estimate with the lowest covariance error when given the sensor measurements, the model prediction, and their variances. In this paper, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the EKF by implementing it on a 4-wheel mecanum-drive robot simulation. The position and velocity accuracy of fusing together various combinations of these three data sources are compared. We also discuss the assumptions and limitations of an EKF.

Creating a simulation of a system enables the tuning of control systems without the need for a physical system. In this paper, we employ Lagrangian Mechanics to derive a set of equations to simulate an inverted pendulum on a cart. The system consists of a freely-rotating rod attached to a cart, with the rod's balance achieved through applying the correct forces to the cart. We manually tune the proportional, integral, and derivative gain coefficients of a Proportional Integral Derivative controller (PID) to balance a rod. To further improve PID performance, we can optimize an objective function to find better gain coefficients.

We calculate the form factors for the $B \to D^*\ellν_\ell$ decay in 2+1 flavor lattice QCD. For all quark flavors, we employ the Möbius domain-wall action, which preserves chiral symmetry to a good precision. Our gauge ensembles are generated at three lattice cutoffs $a^{-1} \sim 2.5$, 3.6 and 4.5 GeV with pion masses as low as $M_π\sim 230$ MeV. The physical lattice size $L$ satisfies the condition $M_πL \geq 4$ to control finite volume effects (FVEs), while we simulate a smaller size at the smallest $M_π$ to directly examine FVEs. The bottom quark masses are chosen in a range from the physical charm quark mass to $0.7 a^{-1}$ to control discretization effects. We extrapolate the form factors to the continuum limit and physical quark masses based on heavy meson chiral perturbation theory at next-to-leading order. Then the recoil parameter dependence is parametrized using a model independent form leading to our estimate of the decay rate ratio between the tau ($\ell = τ$) and light lepton ($\ell = e,μ$) channels $R(D^*) = 0.252(22)$ in the Standard Model. A simultaneous fit with recent data from the Belle experiment yields $|V_{cb}| = 39.19(91)\times 10^{-3}$, which is consistent with previous exclusive determinations, and shows good consistency in the kinematical distribution of the differential decay rate between the lattice and experimental data.

We perform a detailed study of the consequences of isospin symmetry in the Cabibbo favoured $D\to\Kbarππ$ decays. These processes are important for precision testing of the Standard Model and for hadronic physics. Combining isospin symmetry with a dispersive reconstruction theorem we derive a representation in terms of one-variable functions which allows one to predict all the $D\to\Kbarππ$ amplitudes given inputs from one $D^+$ mode and one $D^0$ mode. From this, using dispersion relations and unitarity, we derive a set of 6+6 Khuri-Treiman type integral equations which enable to take three-body rescattering effects into account. A first test of this approach is presented using experimental results on the $D^+\to K_S\piz\pip$ and the $D^0\to K_S\pim\pip$ modes.

In this paper, we investigate the time-dependent angular analysis of $B_s^0 \rightarrow φφ$ decay to search for new physics signals via CP-violating observables. We work with a new physics Hamiltonian containing both left- and right-handed Chromomagnetic dipole operators. The hierarchy of the helicity amplitudes in this model gives us a new scheme of experimental search, which is different from the ones LHCb has used in its analysis. To illustrate this new scheme, we perform a sensitivity study using two pseudo datasets generated using LHCb's measured values. We find the sensitivity of CP-violating observables to be of the order of $5-7\%$ with the current LHCb statistics. Moreover, we show that Belle(II)'s $B^0_d \rightarrow φK_s$ and LHCb's $B_s^0 \rightarrow φφ$ measurements could be coupled within our model to obtain the chirality of the new physics.

The data were collected by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy collider during 2019-2021, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $189$ fb$^{-1}$. The measured quantities are the branching fractions (${\mathcal B}$) of the decay channels $B^{+} \to J/ψ(e^{+}e^{-})K^{+}$, $B^{+} \to J/ψ(μ^{+}μ^{-}) K^{+}$, $B^{0} \to J/ψ(e^{+}e^{-}) K^{0}_{S}$, and $B^{0} \to J/ψ(μ^{+}μ^{-})K^{0}_{S}$; the lepton-flavor-dependent isospin asymmetries for the electron [$A_{I}\left(B \to J/ψ(e^{+}e^{-}) K\right)$] and muon [$A_{I}\left(B \to J/ψ(μ^{+} μ^{-}) K\right)$] channels; and the ratios of branching fractions between the muon and electron channels for the charged [$R_{K^{+}}\left(J/ψ\right)$] and neutral kaon [$R_{K^{0}}\left(J/ψ\right)$] case. The measurements are consistent with the world-average values.

In this paper, we discuss the theoretical framework and the experimental measurements of the magnetic moment of the charm baryons. The $Λ_c^+$ magnetic moment is particularly interesting since it is equal to the magnetic moment of the charm quark. The measurements of the magnetic moments of other charm baryons, such as $Ξ_c$, allow to perform detailed spectroscopy studies. The magnetic moment of the $Λ_c$ can be determined using radiative charmonium decay and the present results show a tension with majority of theoretical predictions. As recently pointed out, the magnetic moment of the charm baryons can be directly measured using bent-crystal experiments at LHC. The possibility of precisely measure the magnetic moments of charm baryons needs precise measurement of their polarisation and weak decay parameters. In this paper, we revisit the formalism of the angular analysis needed for these measurements and make a detailed evaluation of initial polarisation of deflected $Λ_c$ baryons as a function of crystal orientation. We found a special orientation of the crystal that gives the opportunity to measure the $Λ_c$ dimensionless electric dipole moment almost with the same precision as its $g$-factor, which is more than an order of magnitude more efficient than suggested before. In conclusion, we stress the importance to perform precise measurements of initial polarisation and weak decay parameters of $Λ_c$ baryon to effectively compare the direct and from decay measurements of magnetic moments.

We present the physics program of the Belle II experiment, located on the intensity frontier SuperKEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. Belle II collected its first collisions in 2018, and is expected to operate for the next decade. It is anticipated to collect 50/ab of collision data over its lifetime. This book is the outcome of a joint effort of Belle II collaborators and theorists through the Belle II theory interface platform (B2TiP), an effort that commenced in 2014. The aim of B2TiP was to elucidate the potential impacts of the Belle II program, which includes a wide scope of physics topics: B physics, charm, tau, quarkonium, electroweak precision measurements and dark sector searches. It is composed of nine working groups (WGs), which are coordinated by teams of theorist and experimentalists conveners: Semileptonic and leptonic B decays, Radiative and Electroweak penguins, phi_1 and phi_2 (time-dependent CP violation) measurements, phi_3 measurements, Charmless hadronic B decay, Charm, Quarkonium(like), tau and low-multiplicity processes, new physics and global fit analyses. This book highlights "golden- and silver-channels", i.e. those that would have the highest potential impact in the field. Theorists scrutinised the role of those measurements and estimated the respective theoretical uncertainties, achievable now as well as prospects for the future. Experimentalists investigated the expected improvements with the large dataset expected from Belle II, taking into account improved performance from the upgraded detector.

The time-dependent $CP$ asymmetry in $B^0 \to K_{\rm res} γ\to π^+ π^- K^0_{\scriptscriptstyle S} γ$ is sensitive to the photon polarisation in the quark level process $b \to s γ$. While this polarisation is predominantly left-handed in the standard model, it could be modified by the existence of new physics contributions that may possess different $CP$ properties. In this paper, we derive the $CP$ violation formulae for $B^0 \to K_{\rm res} γ\to π^+ π^- K^0_{\scriptscriptstyle S} γ$ including the most dominant intermediate states. We propose a new observable that could be measured in a time-dependent amplitude analysis of $B^0 \to π^+ π^- K^0_{\scriptscriptstyle S} γ$ decays, providing a stringent contraint on the photon polarisation. The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is a multi-TeV high-luminosity linear e+e- collider under development. For an optimal exploitation of its physics potential, CLIC is foreseen to be built and operated in a staged approach with three centre-of-mass energy stages ranging from a few hundred GeV up to 3 TeV. The first stage will focus on precision Standard Model physics, in particular Higgs and top-quark measurements. Subsequent stages will focus on measurements of rare Higgs processes, as well as searches for new physics processes and precision measurements of new states, e.g. states previously discovered at LHC or at CLIC itself. In the 2012 CLIC Conceptual Design Report, a fully optimised 3 TeV collider was presented, while the proposed lower energy stages were not studied to the same level of detail. This report presents an updated baseline staging scenario for CLIC. The scenario is the result of a comprehensive study addressing the performance, cost and power of the CLIC accelerator complex as a function of centre-of-mass energy and it targets optimal physics output based on the current physics landscape. The optimised staging scenario foresees three main centre-of-mass energy stages at 380 GeV, 1.5 TeV and 3 TeV for a full CLIC programme spanning 22 years. For the first stage, an alternative to the CLIC drive beam scheme is presented in which the main linac power is produced using X-band klystrons.

We also estimate that using the data collected by LHCb between 2015 and 2018 in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.0/fb, the relative uncertainties to this branching ratio can be reduced down to ~10%. We also show that the first observation of Br(eta'->mu+mu-) may be possible with the Upgrade of the LHCb experiment.

Abstract:
We propose a model independent extraction of the hadronic information needed to determine the photon polarization of the b-> s gamma process by the method utilizing the B -> K1 gamma -> K pi pi gamma angular distribution. We show that exactly the same hadronic information can be obtained by using the B -> J/psi K1 -> J/psi K pi pi channel, which leads to a much higher precision.

We investigate the sensitivity to new physics of the process e+e- -> t bar{t} when the top polarization is analyzed using leptonic final states e+e- -> t \bar{t} -> l+l- b \bar{b} nu_l \bar{nu}_l. We first show that the kinematical reconstruction of the complete kinematics is experimentally tractable for this process. Then we apply the matrix element method to study the sensitivity to the Vt\bar{t} coupling (V being a vector gauge boson), at the tree level and in the narrow width approximation. Assuming the ILC baseline configuration, sqrt{S}=500 GeV, and a luminosity of 500 fb^{-1}, we conclude that this optimal analysis allows to determine simultaneously the ten form factors that parameterize the Vt\bar{t} coupling, below the percent level. We also discuss the effects of the next leading order (NLO) electroweak corrections using the GRACE program with polarized beams. It is found that the NLO corrections to different beam polarization lead to significantly different patterns of contributions.

The circular-polarization of the photon in the radiative B decays is dominantly left-handed in the Standard Model (SM), but the right-handed polarization may be enhanced in some new physics models with right-handed currents, such as the Left-Right Symmetric Model (LRSM). In this article, we investigate how large this wrong polarization could be within the allowed parameter space of the LRSM. We show that in LRSM, the right-handed polarization of the photon in the $b\to sγ$ processes could be largely enhanced by the $W_L-W_R$ mixing contributions because of the helicity flip on the internal top quark line of the penguin diagrams and the enhancement by the CKM factor $V_{ts}^R/V_{ts}^L$. We discuss the sensitivity of the proposed methods to determine the $b\to sγ$ photon polarization to the LRSM as well as their complementary role compared to the direct search of right-handed charged gauge bosons at LHC.

Recently the radiative B decay to the strange axial-vector mesons, B --> K1(1270) gamma, has been observed with rather large branching ratio. This process is particularly interesting as the subsequent K1 decay into its three body final state allows us to determine the polarization of the photon, which is mostly left- (right-)handed for Bbar (B) in the SM while various new physics models predict additional right- (left-)handed components. A new method is proposed to determine the polarization, exploiting the full Dalitz plot distribution, which seems to reduce significantly the statistical errors. This polarization measurement requires however a detailed knowledge of the K1--> K pi pi strong interaction decays, namely, the various partial wave amplitudes into the several possible quasi two-body channels, as well as their relative phases. The pattern of partial waves is especially complex for the K1(1270). We attempt to obtain the information through the combination of an experimental input and a theoretical one, provided by the 3P0 quark-pair-creation model.

This report of a CERN Theory Institute includes the summaries of Working Groups that reviewed the physics goals and prospects of LHC running with 10 to 300/fb of integrated luminosity, of the proposed sLHC luminosity upgrade, of the ILC, of CLIC, of the LHeC and of a muon collider. The four Working Groups considered possible scenarios for the first 10/fb of data at the LHC in which (i) a state with properties that are compatible with a Higgs boson is discovered, (ii) no such state is discovered either because the Higgs properties are such that it is difficult to detect or because no Higgs boson exists, (iii) a missing-energy signal beyond the Standard Model is discovered as in some supersymmetric models, and (iv) some other exotic signature of new physics is discovered. In the contexts of these scenarios, the Working Groups reviewed the capabilities of the future colliders to study in more detail whatever new physics may be discovered by the LHC. Their reports provide the particle physics community with some tools for reviewing the scientific priorities for future colliders after the LHC produces its first harvest of new physics from multi-TeV collisions.

We point out at the peculiarity of B --> mu nu decay, namely the enhancement of the soft photon events which originate from the structure dependent part of the B --> mu nu gamma amplitude. This may be a dominant source of systematic uncertainty and compromise the projected experimental uncertainty on Gamma(B --> mu nu). We show that the effect of these soft photons can be controlled if the experimental cut on identification of soft photons is lowered and especially if the better resolution in identifying the momentum of muon emerging from B --> mu nu, is made. A lattice QCD computation of the relevant form factors would be highly helpful for a better numerical control over the structure dependent soft photon emission.

As a consequence, we find that the QCD axial anomaly leads to highly non-trivial corrections to the usual flavour SU(3) relations between B^0-> K^0 pi^0, B^0-> K^0 eta and B^0-> K^0 eta' decay amplitudes. These corrections may explain why the B-> K eta' branching ratio is about six times larger than the B-> K pi one.

Abstract:
The strongest constraint on Vtb presently comes from the 3 x 3 unitarity of the CKM matrix, which fixes Vtb to be very close to one. If the unitarity is relaxed, current information from top production at Tevatron still leaves open the possibility that Vtb is sizably smaller than one. In minimal extensions of the standard model with extra heavy quarks, the unitarity constraints are much weaker and the EW precision parameters entail the strongest bounds on Vtb. We discuss the experimental perspectives of discovering and identifying such new physics models at the Tevatron and the LHC, through a precise measurement of Vtb from the single top cross sections and by the study of processes where the extra heavy quarks are produced.

Abstract:
We investigate the branching ratios and CP asymmetries of the B -> pi pi processes measured in B factory experiments. Fits to the experimental data of this process indicate a large ratio of color-suppressed (C) to color-allowed (T) tree contributions. We investigate whether the large C/T can be explained within the QCD based model computation with i) a large effect from the end-point singularity…

Fits to the experimental data of this process indicate a large ratio of color-suppressed (C) to color-allowed (T) tree contributions. We investigate whether the large C/T can be explained within the QCD based model computation with i) a large effect from the end-point singularity or with ii) large final-state-interaction phase between two different isospin amplitudes. We show that the current experimental data do not exclude either possibility but we may be able to distinguish these two effects in future measurements of direct CP asymmetry of B -> pi^0 pi^0.

Abstract:
We reconcile the 1/N_c expansion with the observed eta-eta' mass spectrum. The chiral corrections introduced for that purpose are natural and consistent with the octet-singlet mixing angle theta=-(22\pm 1)^{\circ} extracted from phenomenology in the large N_c limit.

The physics motivation, key observables, measurement methods and expected precisions are presented. The sensitivity studies are a part of the activities associated with the preparation of a Letter of Intent for SuperKEKB, which has been submitted recently.

Inclusive $J/ψ$ productions in $e^+ e^-$ annihilation is studied in the framework of NRQCD. We first review the leading-order calculations of the cross sections for $e^+ e^- \to J/ψc \bar{c}$ and $e^+ e^- \to J/ψg g$ and find that their ratio is about 1:1.5 at $\sqrt{s}\simeq 10$\gev. This result is in conflict with the current measurements by the Belle Collaboration, which finds that the process $e^+e^- \to J/ψc\bar{c}$ accounts for about 2/3 of all the prompt $J/ψ$'s. We show that the discrepancy in the total rate as well as in the $J/ψ$ momentum distributions can be resolved by considering a large renormalization $K$ factor ($K\simeq 4$) for the $J/ψc \bar {c}$ cross section and by taking into account collinear suppression in the end-point energy region of $J/ψg g$ production. Detailed studies of the model predictions in terms of the density matrix are performed and various momentum and angular distributions are presented as functions of the $K$ factors. These distributions can be used to determine the normalizations of each subprocess provided that the production and decay angular distributions do not alter much by higher order corrections.

We discuss in particular the correlation of SUSY effects in the CP asymmetries of B_s -> J/psi phi and B_d -> phi K_S and find that the mass insertions dominant in B_s mixing and B_d -> phi K_S are (delta_{23}^d)_{LL, RR} and (delta_{23}^d)_{LR, RL}, respectively. We show that models with dominant (delta_{23}^d)_{LR, RL} can accomodate a negative value of S_{phi K_S}, in agreement with the BELLE measurement of that observable, but yield a B_s mixing phase too small to be observed. On the other hand, models with dominant (delta_{23}^d)_{LL, RR} predict sizeable SUSY contributions to both Delta M_s and the mixing phase, but do not allow the asymmetry in B_d -> phi K_S to become negative, except for small values of the average down squark mass, which, in turn, entail a value of Delta M_s too large to be observed at the Tevatron and the LHC. We conclude that the observation of B_s mixing at hadron machines, together with the confirmation of a negative value of S_{phi K_S}, disfavours models with a single dominant mass insertion.

Exclusive quarkonium pair production in electron-positron collisions is studied in non-relativistic QCD. The obtained cross section for J/ψ+ η_c production in the leading order is confronted against the recent measurements by the Belle Collaboration at KEKB. It is shown that a large renormalization K-factor is necessary to explain the experimental data. We point out that the J^{PC}=0^{-+} nature of the hadronic systems that are assigned to be η_c should be tested by the triple angular distributions in terms of the scattering angle, and, polar and azimuthal angles of J/ψinto leptons. We further study J/ψ+ J/ψand Υ+ Υproductions at LEP energies. Although the axial-vector couplings of the Z-boson to charm and bottom quarks allow production of such pairs when one of them is polarised transversally and the other longitudinally, we find that the integrated luminosity at Z pole accumulated by LEP is not large enough to observe the exclusive pair production of quarkonium.
