Abstract:
The maximum value of the energy gap $Δ\simeq 8\ meV$ and the ratio $2δ/kT_c\simeq~2.5$ are determined for a high-temperature superconductor $\rm Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_{8+y}$ by using point contacts. It was found that the high-temperature superconductor is transformed under the effect of current injection of quasiparticles to a new modified state with a reduced gap, which is stable in a wide range of inj…

The current-voltage characteristics (IVC) of $S-c-N$ point contacts of superconductors with a small coherence length ${ξ_{0}}$ reveal steps with discrete values of the differential resistance. This peculiarity is associated with a transition of the contact region of the superconductor to a spatially inhomogeneous state under the influence of the current injection of nonequilibrium quasiparticles penetrating the superconductor to a depth ${{l}_{E}}$ . The role of the relaxation of the disbalance between the occupancies of electron- and hole-like branches of the quasiparticle spectrum is manifested in the displacement of the position of the singularities on the IVC towards higher energies upon an increase in the magnetic field and/or temperature. This effect was observed in superconductors with different ratios of the contact diameter $d$ and ${ξ_{0}}$ or ${{l}_{E}}$ in the series $Ta\ (d\ll {ξ_{0}},\ {{l}_{E}})\to NbS{{e}_{2}}$, $N{{b}_{3}}Sn\ (d\gtrsim {ξ_{0}},\ {{l}_{E}})\to YB{{a}_{1.25}}S{{r}_{0.75}}C{{u}_{3}}{{O}_{7-δ}}(d\gg {ξ_{0}},\ {{l}_{E}})$. Apparently, a jumplike displacement of the boundary between regions with suppressed and equilibrium values of the energy gap near the contact is responsible for the oscillations observed on the IVC of point contacts between single crystals of high- temperature superconductors (HTS) and a normal metal. The resistance-periodic step-like structure of the IVC allows us to estimate the penetration depth ${{l}_{E}}$ of the electric field in $NbS{{e}_{2}}$ and $YBaSrCuO$.

Abstract:
We report on the first compelling observation of $α$ decay of $^{151}$Eu to the ground state of $^{147}$Pm. The measurement was performed using a 6.15 g Li$_6$Eu(BO$_3$)$_3$ crystal operated as a scintillating bolometer. The Q-value and half-life measured are: Q = 1948.9$\pm 6.9(stat.) \pm 5.1(syst.)$ keV, and T$_{1/2}=\left( 4.62\pm0.95(stat.)\pm0.68(syst.)\right) \times 10^{18}$ y . The half-lif…

The half-life prediction of nuclear theory using the Coulomb and proximity potential model are in good agreement with this experimental result.

Long-lived photoinduced absorption and dichroism in the Ca_3Ga_{2-x}Mn_xGe_3O_{12} garnets with x < 0.06 were examined versus temperature and pum** intensity. Unusual features of the kinetics of photoinduced phenomena are indicative of the underlying electronic processes. The comparison with the case of Ca_3Mn_2Ge_3O_{12}, explored earlier by the authors, permits one to finally establish the main common mechanisms of photoinduced absorption and dichroism caused by random electric fields of photoproduced charges (hole polarons). The rate of their diffusion and relaxation through recombination is strongly influenced by the same fields, whose large statistical straggling is responsible for a broad continuous set of relaxation components (observed in the relaxation time range from 1 to about 1000 min). For Ca_3Ga_{2-x}Mn_xGe_3O_{12}, the time and temperature dependences of photoinduced absorption and dichroism bear a strong imprint of structure imperfection increasing with x.
