Abstract:
Let $R$ be a ring, $e$ an idempotent of $R$ and $δ(R)$ denote the intersection of all essential maximal right ideals of $R$ which is called Zhou radical. In this paper, the Zhou radical of a ring is applied to the $e$-reduced property of rings. In this paper, the Zhou radical of a ring is applied to the $e$-reduced property of rings. We call the ring $R$ {\it Zhou right} (resp. {\it left}) {\it $e$-reduced} if for any nilpotent $a$ in $R$, we have $ae\in δ(R)$ (resp. $ea\in δ(R))$. Obviously, every ring is Zhou $0$-reduced and a ring $R$ is Zhou right (resp., left) $1$-reduced if and only if $N(R)\subseteq δ(R)$. So we assume that the idempotent $e$ is nonzero. We investigate basic properties of Zhou right $e$-reduced rings. Furthermore, we supply some sources of examples for Zhou right $e$-reduced rings. In this direction, we show that right $e$-semicommutative rings (and so right $e$-reduced rings and $e$-symmetric rings), central semicommutative rings and weak symmetric rings are Zhou right $e$-reduced. As an application, we deal with some extensions of Zhou right $e$-reduced rings. Full matrix rings need not be Zhou right $e$-reduced, but we present some Zhou right $e$-reduced subrings of full matrix rings over Zhou right $e$-reduced rings.

The primary aim of this paper is to investigate the integration of emotions into the social navigation framework to analyse its effect on both navigation and human physiological safety and comfort. The proposed framework uses leg detection to find the whereabouts of people and computes adaptive proxemic zones based on their emotional state. We designed several case studies in a simulated environment and examined 3 different emotions; positive (happy), neutral and negative (angry). A survey study was conducted with 70 participants to explore their impressions about the navigation of the robot and compare the human safety and comfort measurements results. Both survey and simulation results showed that integrating emotions into proxemic zones has a significant effect on the physical safety of a human. The results revealed that when a person is angry, the robot is expected to navigate further than the standard distance to support his/her physiological comfort and safety. The results also showed that reducing the navigation distance is not preferred when a person is happy.

Reinforcement learning (RL) is a popular technique that allows an agent to learn by trial and error while interacting with a dynamic environment. The traditional Reinforcement Learning (RL) approach has been successful in learning and predicting Euclidean robotic manipulation skills such as positions, velocities, and forces. However, in robotics, it is common to encounter non-Euclidean data such as orientation or stiffness, and failing to account for their geometric nature can negatively impact learning accuracy and performance. In this paper, to address this challenge, we propose a novel framework for RL that leverages Riemannian geometry, which we call Geometric Reinforcement Learning (G-RL), to enable agents to learn robotic manipulation skills with non-Euclidean data. Specifically, G-RL utilizes the tangent space in two ways: a tangent space for parameterization and a local tangent space for map** to a nonEuclidean manifold. The policy is learned in the parameterization tangent space, which remains constant throughout the training. The policy is then transferred to the local tangent space via parallel transport and projected onto the non-Euclidean manifold. The local tangent space changes over time to remain within the neighborhood of the current manifold point, reducing the approximation error. Therefore, by introducing a geometrically grounded pre- and post-processing step into the traditional RL pipeline, our G-RL framework enables several model-free algorithms designed for Euclidean space to learn from non-Euclidean data without modifications. Experimental results, obtained both in simulation and on a real robot, support our hypothesis that G-RL is more accurate and converges to a better solution than approximating non-Euclidean data.

There have been many studies on intelligent robotic systems for patients with motor impairments, where different sensor types and different human-machine interface (HMI) methods have been developed. However, these studies fail to achieve complex activity detection at the minimum sensing level. In this paper, exploratory approaches are adopted to investigate ocular activity dynamics and complex activity estimation using a single-channel EOG device. First, the stationarity of ocular activities during a static motion is investigated and some activities are found to be non-stationary. Further, no statistical difference is found between the envelope sequences in the temporal domain. However, when utilized as an alternative to a low-pass filter, high-frequency harmonic components in the frequency domain are found to improve contrasting ocular activities and the performance of the EOG-HMI-based activity detection system substantially. The activities are trained with different classifiers and their prediction success is evaluated with leave-one-session-out cross-validation. Accordingly, the two-dimensional CNN model achieved the highest performance with the accuracy of 72.35\%. Furthermore, the clustering performance is assessed using unsupervised learning and the results are evaluated in terms of how well the feature sets are grouped. The system is further tested in real-time with the graphical user interface and the scores and survey data of the subjects are used to verify the effectiveness.

Core-collapse supernovae (CCSNe) are potentially capable of producing large quantities of dust, with strong evidence that ejecta dust masses can grow significantly over extended periods of time. Red-blue asymmetries in the broad emission lines of CCSNe can be modelled using the Monte Carlo radiative transfer code DAMOCLES, to determine ejecta dust masses. To facilitate easier use of DAMOCLES, we present a Tkinter graphical user interface (GUI) running DAMOCLES. The GUI was tested by high school students as part of the Original Research By Young Twinkle Students (ORBYTS) programme, who used it to measure the dust masses formed at two epochs in two Type IIP CCSNe: SN 2012aw and iPTF14hls, demonstrating that a wide range of people can contribute significantly to scientific advancement. Bayesian methods were used to quantify uncertainties on our model parameters. From the presence of a red scattering wing in the day 1863 H$α$ profile of SN 2012aw, we were able to constrain the dust composition to large (radius $>0.1 μ$m) silicate grains, with a dust mass of $6.0^{+21.9}_{-3.6}\times10^{-4} M_\odot$. From the day 1158 H$α$ profile of SN 2012aw, we found a dust mass of $3.0^{+14}_{-2.5}\times10^{-4}$ M$_\odot$. For iPTF14hls, we found a day 1170 dust mass of 8.1 $^{+81}_{-7.6}\times10^{-5}$ M$_{\odot}$ for a dust composition consisting of 50% amorphous carbon and 50% astronomical silicate. At 1000 days post explosion, SN 2012aw and iPTF14hls have formed less dust than SN 1987A, suggesting that SN 1987A could form larger dust masses than other Type IIP's.

Although social robots provide a promising solution to support children in their education, healthcare and social interaction with others, the precautions due to COVID-19 also introduced new constraints in the social robotics research. In this paper, we will discuss the benefits and challenges encountered in child-robot interaction due to COVID-19 based on two user studies. The first study involves children with hearing disabilities, and Pepper humanoid robot to support their audiometry tests. Basic properties of right $e$-reversibility in a ring are provided. Among others it is proved that if $R$ is a semiprime ring, then $R$ is right $e$-reversible if and only if it is right $e$-reduced if and only if it is $e$-symmetric if and only if it is right $e$-semicommutative. Also, for a right $e$-reversible ring $R$, $R$ is a prime ring if and only if it is a domain. It is shown that the class of right $e$-reversible rings is strictly between that of $e$-symmetric rings and right $e$-semicommutative rings.

The ring $R$ is called left N-reflexive if the zero ideal is left N-reflexive. We study the properties of left N-reflexive rings and related concepts. Since reflexive rings and reduced rings are left N-reflexive, we investigate the sufficient conditions for left N-reflexive rings to be reflexive and reduced. We first consider basic extensions of left N-reflexive rings. For an ideal-symmetric ideal $I$ of a ring $R$, $R/I$ is left N-reflexive. If an ideal $I$ of a ring $R$ is reduced as a ring without identity and $R/I$ is left N-reflexive, then $R$ is left N-reflexive. If $R$ is a quasi-Armendariz ring and the coefficients of any nilpotent polynomial in $R[x]$ are nilpotent in $R$, it is proved that $R$ is left N-reflexive if and only if $R[x]$ is left N-reflexive. We show that the concept of N-reflexivity is weaker than that of reflexivity and stronger than that of left N-right idempotent reflexivity and right idempotent reflexivity which are introduced in Section 5.

3D-Polarized Light Imaging (3D-PLI) reconstructs nerve fibers in histological brain sections by measuring their birefringence. This study investigates another effect caused by the optical anisotropy of brain tissue - diattenuation. Based on numerical and experimental studies and a complete analytical description of the optical system, the diattenuation was determined to be below 4 % in rat brain tissue. It was demonstrated that the diattenuation effect has negligible impact on the fiber orientations derived by 3D-PLI. The diattenuation signal, however, was found to highlight different anatomical structures that cannot be distinguished with current imaging techniques, which makes Diattenuation Imaging a promising extension to 3D-PLI.
