Machine Learning of the Prime Distribution
Abstract: In the present work we use maximum entropy methods to derive several theorems in probabilistic number theory, including a version of the Hardy-Ramanujan Theorem. We also provide a theoretical argument explaining the experimental observations of Yang-Hui He about the learnability of primes, and posit that the Erdős-Kac law would very unlikely be discovered by current machine learning techniques. A ripple in time: a discontinuity in American history
Abstract: In this note we use the State of the Union Address (SOTU) dataset from Kaggle to make some surprising (and some not so surprising) observations pertaining to the general timeline of American history, and the character and nature of the addresses themselves. Robust affine point matching via quadratic assignment on Grassmannians
Abstract: Robust Affine matching with Grassmannians (RAG) is a new algorithm to perform affine registration of point clouds. The dual Jacobian of a generalised tetrahedron, and volumes of prisms
Abstract: We derive an analytic formula for the dual Jacobian matrix of a generalised hyperbolic tetrahedron. Two cases are considered: a mildly truncated and a prism truncated tetrahedron. The Jacobian for the latter arises as an analytic continuation of the former, that falls in line with a similar behaviour of the corresponding volume formulae. Also, we obtain a volume formula for a hyperbolic $n$-gona… ▽ More

Symmetries of hyperbolic 4-manifolds
Abstract: In this paper, for each finite group $G$, we construct explicitly a non-compact complete finite-volume arithmetic hyperbolic $4$-manifold $M$ such that $\mathrm{Isom}\,M \cong G$, or $\mathrm{Isom}^{+}\,M \cong G$. In order to do so, we use essentially the geometry of Coxeter polytopes in the hyperbolic $4$-space, on one hand, and the combinatorics of simplicial complexes, on the other.

Asymptotic decomposition in the problem of joined elastic plates
Abstract: In this paper, a method of local perturbations, previously successfully applied to decompose the problem of elasticity in the system of connected thin rods and beams [Kolpakov and Andrianov, 2013], is used to study the asymptotic behaviour of the elasticity problem in connected thin plates. A complete decomposition of the problem, i.e. the separation of the original problem in to the two-dimension… ▽ More

Some hyperbolic three-manifolds that bound geometrically
Abstract: A closed connected hyperbolic $n$-manifold bounds geometrically if it is isometric to the geodesic boundary of a compact hyperbolic $(n+1)$-manifold. A. Reid and D. Long have shown by arithmetic methods the existence of infinitely many manifolds that bound geometrically in every dimension. We construct here infinitely many explicit examples in dimension $n=3$ using right-angled dodecahedra and… ▽ More

Hyperbolic four-manifolds with one cusp
Abstract: We introduce a simple algorithm which transforms every four-dimensional cubulation into a cusped finite-volume hyperbolic four-manifold. Combinatorially distinct cubulations give rise to topologically distinct manifolds. Using this algorithm we construct the first examples of finite-volume hyperbolic four-manifolds with one cusp. More generally, we show that the number of $k$-cusped hyperbolic fou… ▽ More

Interaction of "rigid" quantum systems
Abstract: We introduce the notion of a "rigid" quantum system as a system with constant relative positions of its nuclei and constant relative distribution of the electrons with respect to the nuclei. In accordance with this definition, a molecule which does not interact with other objects, is a "rigid" quantum system. Molecule is also "rigid" if it interacts with other objects, but the interaction does n… ▽ More

On the optimality of the ideal right-angled 24-cell
Abstract: We prove that among four-dimensional ideal right-angled hyperbolic polytopes the 24-cell is of minimal volume and of minimal facet number. As a corollary, a dimension bound for ideal right-angled hyperbolic polytopes is obtained.

Complementarity problems for electro-neutral charged bodies
Abstract: Solutions to the complementarity problem constructed in [1], generally, possess non-zero total charge. In natural sciences, bodies possessing non-zero total charge (ions and similar object) are considered as specific objects. Bodies possessing zero total charge (electro-neutral bodies) are considered as general case objects. This paper presents a solution to the complementarity problem for electro… ▽ More

Complementarity problems for two pairs of charged bodies
Abstract: We consider an interaction of charged bodies under the following simplified conditions: the distribution of charge over each body is stable; the interaction of bodies is governed by electrical forces only. Physically, these assumptions can be treated as the following decomposition of charges: the structure of each body is assumed to be stable due to inner forces (say, quantum forces [1]), which do… ▽ More
