Although many binary compounds have the B2 (CsCl-type) structure in the thermodynamic phase diagram, an origin of the structural stability is not understood well. Here, we focus on 416 compounds in the B2 structure extracted from the Materials Project, and study the dynamical stability of those compounds from first principles. We demonstrate that the B2 phase stability lies in whether the lowest frequency phonon at the $M$ point in the Brillouin zone is endowed with a positive frequency. We show that the interatomic interactions up to the fourth nearest neighbor atoms are necessary for stabilizing such phonon modes, which should determine the minimum cutoff radius for constructing the interatomic potentials of binary compounds with guaranteed accuracy.

In the warm dense regime, where the electron temperature is increased to the same order of the Fermi temperature, the dynamical stability of elemental metals depends on its electronic band structure as well as its crystal structure. It has been known that phonon hardening occurs due to an enhanced internal pressure caused by electron excitations as in close-packed simple metals, whereas phonon softening occurs at a specific point in the Brillouin zone as in body-centered cubic metals. Here, we investigate the dynamical stability of binary ordered alloys (Au and Cu) in the L1$_0$ and L1$_2$ structures. By performing first principles calculations on phonon dispersions, we demonstrate that warm dense Au-Cu systems show phonon hardening behavior except the lowest frequency phonon mode at point R of AuCu in the L1$_0$ structure. We show that when a phonon mode is stabilized by long-range interatomic interactions at ambient condition, such a phonon will be destabilized by the short-range nature of the warm dense matters.

Here, we calculate the phonon dispersion relations of free-electron-like metal, bcc sodium, with a stepwise electron distribution function by using a model pseudo-potential method. The step can behave as a pseudo-Fermi surface, which produces the singularities at specific wavenumbers in the response function. The singularity gives rise to long-range oscillations in the interatomic potential and results in imaginary phonon frequencies around the N point.

The training speed of the logic architecture on the FPGA was 26-259 times faster than the software libraries. The power efficiency of the logic architecture was 90-1,104 times higher than the software libraries. The results show that the logic architecture suits for high-performance and edge computing.

The electric dipole moments (EDMs) of electron and nucleons are promising probes of the new physics. In generic high-scale supersymmetric (SUSY) scenarios such as models based on mixture of the anomaly and gauge mediations, gluino has an additional contribution to the nucleon EDMs. In this paper, we studied the effect of the $CP$-violating gluon Weinberg operator induced by the gluino chromoelectric dipole moment in the high-scale SUSY scenarios, and we evaluated the nucleon and electron EDMs in the scenarios. We found that in the generic high-scale SUSY models, the nucleon EDMs may receive the sizable contribution from the Weinberg operator. Thus, it is important to compare the nucleon EDMs with the electron one in order to discriminate among the high-scale SUSY models.

Atomic Force Microscopy has enabled 2D imaging at the sub-molecular level, and 3D map** of the potential field. However, fast identification of the surface still remains a challenging topic. In this paper, as a step towards implementation of such function, we introduce a control scheme and mathematical treatment of the acquired data that enable retrieval of essential information characterizing the potential field, leading to fast acquisition of images with chemical contrast. The control scheme is based on tip sample distance modulation at an angular frequency of $ω$, and null control of the ${1ω}$ component of the self excitation frequency of the oscillator. It is demonstrated that the control is robust in UHV for a frequency well as small as a few Hz/MHz, and that the mathematical treatment results in satisfactory identification of the potential field. Morse potential is chosen as a case study for identifying the Morse parameters per pixel. Atomic features with similar topography were distinguished by differences in the parameters. The decay length parameter was resolved with a resolution of 10 pm. The method was demonstrated on quenched Silicon at a scan rate comparable to normal imaging.

We study phenomenology of electroweak-interacting fermionic dark matter (DM) with a mass of $\mathcal{O}(100)$ GeV. Constructing the effective Lagrangian that describes the interactions between the Higgs boson and the SU(2)$_L$ isospin multiplet fermion, we evaluate the electric dipole moment (EDM) of electron, the signal strength of Higgs boson decay to two photons and the spin-independent elastic-scattering cross section with proton. As representative cases, we consider the SU(2)$_L$ triplet fermions with zero/nonzero hypercharges and SU(2)$_L$ doublet fermion. It is found that the electron EDM gives stringent constraints on those model parameter spaces. In the cases of the triplet fermion with zero hypercharge and the doublet fermion, the Higgs signal strength does not deviate from the standard model prediction by more than a few % once the current DM direct detection constraint is taken into account, even if the CP violation is suppressed. On the contrary, $\mathcal{O}(10$-$20)$ % deviation may occur in the case of the triplet fermion with nonzero hypercharge. Our representative scenarios may be tested by the future experiments.

We revisit proton decay via the color-triplet Higgs multiplets in the minimal supersymmetric grand unified model with heavy sfermions. Although the model has been believed to be excluded due to the too short lifetime of proton, we have found that it is possible to evade the experimental constraints on the proton decay rate if the supersymmetric particles have masses much heavier than the electroweak scale. With such heavy sfermions, the 126GeV Higgs boson is naturally explained, while they do not spoil the gauge coupling unification and the existence of dark matter candidates. Since the resultant proton lifetime lies in the regions which may be reached in the future experiments, proton decay searches may give us a chance to verify the scenario as well as the supersymmetric grand unified models.

For this purpose, we use the previous results in which the quantum corrections to the effective Kahler potential are evaluated at two-loop level. Numerical values for the factors are presented in the case of the minimal supersymmetric SU(5) grand unified model. We also derive a simple formula for the one-loop renormalization factors for any higher-dimensional operators in the Kahler potential, assuming that they are induced by the gauge interactions.

It is found that the proton lifetime is significantly reduced in the former case, while in the latter case it is slightly prolonged. Determination of the particle contents and their mass spectrum below the GUT scale is important to predict the proton lifetime. The proton decay searches have started to access to the 10^16 GeV scale.

In order to remove the loss $C - C_S$, we propose a multiplex coding scheme with plural independent messages. In this paper, it is shown that the proposed multiplex coding scheme can attain the channel capacity as the total rate of the plural messages and the perfect secrecy for each message. The coding theorem is proved by extending Hayashi's proof, in which the coding of the channel resolvability is applied to wiretap channels.

We have studied the electronic structure of epitaxially grown thin films of La$_{1-x}$Sr$_x$FeO$_3$ by {\it in-situ} photoemission spectroscopy (PES) and x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) measurements. The Fe 2$p$ and valence-band PES spectra and the O $1s$ XAS spectra of LaFeO$_3$ have been successfully reproduced by configuration-interaction cluster-model calculation and, except for the satellite structure, by band-structure calculation. From the shift of the binding energies of core levels, the chemical potential was found to be shifted downward as $x$ was increased. Among the three peaks in the valence-band spectra of La$_{1-x}$Sr$_x$FeO$_3$, the peak nearest to the Fermi level ($E_F$), due to the ``$e_{g}$ band'', was found to move toward $E_F$ and became weaker as $x$ was increased, whereas the intensity of the peak just above $E_F$ in the O $1s$ XAS spectra increased with $x$. The gap or pseudogap at $E_F$ was seen for all values of $x$. These results indicate that changes in the spectral line shape around $E_F$ are dominated by spectral weight transfer from below to above $E_F$ across the gap and are therefore highly non-rigid-band-like.
