Rigidity of Euclidean product structure: breakdown for low Sobolev exponents
Abstract: We develop a general toolbox to study $W^{1,p}$ solutions of differential inclusions $\nabla u \in K$ for unbounded sets $K$. A key notion is the concept that a subset $K$ of the space $\mathbb{R}^{d \times m}$ of $d \times m$ matrices can be reduced to another set $K'$. We then use this framework to show that the product rigidity for Sobolev maps fails for $p<2$, and also apply our toolbox to sim… ▽ More

On the Multiplicity One Conjecture for Mean Curvature Flows of surfaces
Abstract: We prove the Multiplicity One Conjecture for mean curvature flows of surfaces in $\mathbb{R}^3$. Sobolev map**s and the spectral sequence for Rumin's filtration on the de Rham complex
Abstract: We consider Rumin's filtration on the de Rham complex of a Carnot group. Although Pansu pullback by a Sobolev map is filtration preserving, it need not be a chain map**. Nonetheless, we show that Pansu pullback induces a map** of the associated spectral sequences. This gives an alternate interpretation of the Pullback Theorem from our previous paper.

Geometry and rigidity of map** class groups
Abstract: We study the large scale geometry of map** class groups MCG(S), using hyperbolicity properties of curve complexes. We show that any self quasi-isometry of MCG(S) (outside a few sporadic cases) is a bounded distance away from a left-multiplication, and as a consequence obtain quasi-isometric rigidity for MCG(S), namely that groups quasi-isometric to MCG(S) are virtually equal to it. (The latter… ▽ More

A new proof of Gromov's theorem on groups of polynomial growth
Abstract: We give a new proof of Gromov's theorem that any finitely generated group of polynomial growth has a finite index nilpotent subgroup. Unlike the original proof, it does not rely on the Montgomery-Zippin-Yamabe structure theory of locally compact groups.

The asymptotic geometry of right-angled Artin groups, I
Abstract: We study atomic right-angled Artin groups -- those whose defining graph has no cycles of length less than five, and no separating vertices, separating edges, or separating vertex stars. We show that these groups are not quasi-isometrically rigid, but that an intermediate form of rigidity does hold. We deduce from this that two atomic groups are quasi-isometric iff they are isomorphic.

Characterization of the Radon-Nikodym Property in terms of inverse limits
Abstract: We clarify the relation between inverse systems, the Radon-Nikodym property, the Asymptotic Norming Property of James-Ho, and the GFDA spaces introduced in our earlier paper on differentiability of Lipschitz maps into Banach spaces.
