The RED-100 two-phase xenon emission detector has been deployed at 19-m distance from the reactor core of the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) in 2021 - 2022 for investigation of the possibility to observe reactor antineutrinos using the effect of coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEνNS). The performance of the main systems of the RED-100 setup at operating nuclear power plant is described. There is no correlation of the radioactive background at the experimental setup site with ON and OFF states of the reactor. The data taking run was carried out at the beginning of the year 2022 and covered both the reactor OFF and ON periods.

Abstract:
Three fast generators of direct photons in the central rapidity region of high-energy heavy-ion collisions have been presented The generator of prompt photons is based on a tabulation of $p+p(\bar p)$ data and binary scaling. Two generators of thermal direct photons, for hot hadron gas (HHG) and quark-gluon plasma (QGP) scenarios, assume the 1+1 Bjorken hydrodynamics. SPS and RHIC data can be fi…

Two generators of thermal direct photons, for hot hadron gas (HHG) and quark-gluon plasma (QGP) scenarios, assume the 1+1 Bjorken hydrodynamics. SPS and RHIC data can be fitted better by scenario with QGP. Predictions for the LHC energy have been made. The generators have been realized as macros for the ROOT analysis package.

The low $p_T$ direct photon production from a variety of the hadronic sources is studied within the microscopic HSD transport approach for p+C, p+Pb and Pb+Pb collisions at 160 A GeV. The direct photon emission from elementary hadronic scatterings as well as meson-meson bremsstrahlung are incorporated. The influence of in-medium effects such as a collisional broadening of the vector-meson spectral functions on the photon emission rate is found to be hardly observable in the final spectra which are dominated by bremsstrahlung type processes. The uncertainties in the subtraction of the 'background' from the photon decay of hadronic resonances inside the hot and dense fireball is investigated, additionally. Our findings are relevant for the interpretation and extraction of experimental data on direct photon production at low $p_T$.

Direct Photons in Nuclear Collisions at FAIR Energies

Abstract:
Using the extrapolation of existing data estimations of prompt photon production at FAIR energies have been made. At $y=y_{c.m.}$ the rapidity density of prompt photons with $p_{t}>$ 1.5 GeV/c per central Au+Au event at 25 AGeV is estimated as $\sim 10^{-4}$ . With the planed beam intensity $10^{9}$ per second and 1% interaction probability, for 10% of most central events one can expect the prom…

With the planed beam intensity $10^{9}$ per second and 1% interaction probability, for 10% of most central events one can expect the prompt photon rate $\sim 10^{2}$ photons per second.
Direct photons from the hadron scenario of ion collisions generated by the Hadron-String-Dynamics (HSD) transport approach with implemented meson scatterings $πρ\toπγ, ππ\toργ$ have been analyzed. Photons from short-living resonances (e.g. $ω\to π^{0} γ$) decaying during the dense phase of the collision should be considered as direct photons. They contribute significantly in the direct photon spectrum at $p_{t}=0.5 - 1$ GeV/c. At the FAIR energy 25 AGeV in Au+Au central collisions the HSD generator predicts, as a lower estimate, $γ_{direct}/γ_{π^{0}} \simeq$ 0.5% in the region $p_{t}=0.5 - 1$ GeV/c. At $p_{t}=1.5 - 2$ GeV/c $γ_{prompt}/γ_{π^{0}} \simeq$ 2%.
Thermal direct photons have been evaluated with the Bjorken Hydro-Dynamics (BHD) model. The BHD spectra differ strongly from the HSD predictions. The direct photon spectrum is very sensitive to the initial temperature parameter $T_{0}$ of the model. The 10 MeV increase in the $T_{0}$ value leads to $\sim$ 2 times higher photon yield.

About $10^{-4}$ prompt $γ$ with $p_{t}>$2 GeV/c per Au+Au central event at 25 AGeV are expected. With the planed beam intensity $10^{9}/s$, 1% interaction rate and 10% centrality, at CBM (Compressed Baryonic Matter) experiment one can expect prompt $γ$ rate ~100/s.
Predictions for direct photons by some generators (PYTHIA, UrQMD, RQMD, HSD, HIJING) are analyzed. One of the main sources of direct photons (due to meson scatterings $πρ\toπγ, ππ\toργ$) is not implemented in the heavy-ion generators. Corresponding cross-sections for this source have been prepared for implementation into the HSD code.
Main experimental methods to study direct photons (subtraction method, momentum correlations method and internal conversion method) are shortly reviewed. High intensity beam, good tracking and good $e^{\pm}$ particle identification of the CBM detector favor to measure direct photons by all the methods.

The production of d' dibaryons in heavy ion collisions due to the elementary process NN -> d' + pion is considered. The cross section NN -> d' + pion is estimated using the vacuum d' width = 0.5 MeV extracted from data on the double charge exchange reactions on nuclei. The d' production rate per single collision of heavy ions is estimated at an incident beam energy of 1 A GeV within the framework of the Quantum Molecular Dynamics transport model. We suggest to analyse the invariant mass spectrum of the NN + pion system in order to search for an abundance of events with the invariant mass of the d' dibaryon. The d' peak is found to exceed the statistical fluctuations of the background at a level of 6 standard deviations for 2 10^5 A central collisions of heavy ions with the atomic number A.
